My children enjoyed this book. The illustrations reminded them of the very hungry caterpillar. I appreciated the diversity of the people in the illustrations. Overall the story is cute and my children recognized the importance of storm clouds to bring water to earth:

This is a book about the value of the gift that we have or what we give to other. In both the cases here, the value doesn't depends on the donor but the one at receiving end. We always cherish what we want or need rather than being happy with the gifts we get when we do not want them. If there is no utility of the thing we have been offered, we do not value it.

Same is the situation with this cloud named Sydney who was roaming at various places with his gift of providing rain all over but couldn't make the places happier as no one wants that water precipitation from sky. But when Sydney reached the dry land which was fuming with heat, the happiness revived with the arrival of rain. Sometimes it happened veyr late for us to get the relaxing moment when are humble and empathatic in helping others. But surely that nature of humility gives pleasure at last, so we shouldn't leave the habit of helping others.

There is very nice illustrations of the pattern placed, to go along with the storyline.

Super cute book! My son and I loved seeing that even when sometimes we think a cloudy day isn't the best day, there is always more to the story!

What a special and powerful story. Sidney is a cloud who wishes more than anything to make everyone happy and to see the smile on their faces. Sadly when people see him they just wish he would go away. So, Sidney leaves and crosses the skies and then starts to grow. Finally he covers a land that has been dry and creates shade and rain. Everyone is so happy he is there and Sidney can find happiness. We loved this story. It was so heartwarming simple text kept my little one's attention and the colorful illustrations created a wonderful story. I loved how the story showed children that we can all find where we belong and where we are happy. That everyone has their own unique gifts that they can share with others. This was a beautifully told story. I received this as an ARC but will be adding to our collection. I highly recommend this for families to share. It’s a great conversation started with our children to realize their uniqueness and discovering their gifts. I also recommend this book for early childhood classroom. Enjoy this treasure.

I love the illustration style of this book. The story is easy for young children and a good way to teach them about emotions. I also believe with the right materials this would be a good fiction book to go along with learning about dry countries in classrooms.

This book is adorable. Sydney is a cloud, a rain cloud. Whenever Sydney shows up most people are mad they’re angry. They want Sydney to go away so they can enjoy their fun in the sun. But Sydney just needed to find the right location. Someplace dry and very hot. Where rain is a blessed event that everybody comes out to take pardon. To smile to play to be excited. And Sydney gets to join in all the fun. Kids are going to love this book not just for the story but for the illustrations and it’s really nice to see how the same thing can be both good and bad all based on someone’s perception.

Sidney the loneyly cloud is a lovely story. I loved the message it presents. That even though some people may not like you, it is just a matter of finding those that do. This would be a nice story to read to a child who may be struggling to find friends.

Sidney the Lonely Cloud is a charming book that teaches kids to discover the importance in others, and to appreciate the beauty in themselves. The refreshing illustrations bring life to the story’s emotions. Sidney is sad because being a rain cloud seems to ruin everything. After going on a long journey, she finally finds a sense of belonging. Even if rain seems to be annoying to one person, it is welcomed and appreciated by another. Sidney teaches readers that there is always a place out there where anyone can feel welcomed. Even a seemingly despondent rain cloud has a place to feel validation and acceptance.

All Sidney wants to do is fit in and make people smile!
However, when people see Sidney the cloud overhead, they want her to leave and they run off.

This is a short and great story to remind us that we might not always fit in everywhere we go.
But just because some people don’t understand us and our likes and interests, it doesn’t mean that no one will.

This book also gives us perspective on how something may not be appreciated in one place but greatly appreciated in others.

The illustrations were amazing. They are bright and vibrant, great for children and keeping their attention.

I also like how it is easily relatable for adults as well.

Sidney the Lonely Cloud by Tim Hopgood ⛅️🌊🌨️ An enchanting look at finding our place in the world.

All Sidney wants is to see some happy smiles. Instead, the friendly cloud sees smiles turn to frowns and people wishing he was elsewhere. So, off he goes, and eventually finds somewhere that welcomes him.

This deceptively spare and simple story shares a lot of emotions through the colorful and sweeping illustrations. I love the concept that being turned away isn’t an end, it’s just a step in the journey of discovering your place. This would make a great read aloud for ages 2-6, or even a ‘real’ beginner picture book for an emerging reader.

This book comes out on Oct 18, so ask your library to order it if you like the look!!

Sidney the Lonely Cloud is a heartwarming children's book written by Tim Hopgood. The story follows the journey of Sidney, a cloud who is on a quest to find a place where he can make people happy. However, no matter where he goes, people always seem to wish he would disappear. Despite this, Sidney persists in his quest and eventually finds a place where he is welcomed with open arms.

Hopgood's writing style is simple yet impactful, making it easy for young readers to follow along and understand the story's message. The illustrations are equally captivating, with bright colors and soft lines that perfectly capture the whimsical nature of the tale.

One of the most significant strengths of Sidney the Lonely Cloud is the way it addresses themes of loneliness and self-worth. Sidney's search for belonging will resonate with many children who have also struggled to find their place in the world. The story reminds readers that everyone has something valuable to offer, and sometimes, all it takes is a change in perspective to find our place in the world.

Overall, Sidney the Lonely Cloud is a charming and inspiring children's book that delivers an important message in a fun and accessible way. It is an excellent addition to any child's library and is sure to become a beloved favorite.

I would love a physical copy.

This is adorable! Sidney is a wonderful example of how relative life can be. Some people might not appreciate what you have to give, but others certainly will! I think this would make a wonderful addition to any classroom or home children's library!

I had a lot of fun reading this book. We meet a cloud who no one ever seems happy to see. They go to all kinds of places but things never seem to end well for them. Yet the moment they are about to lose hope something amazing ends up happening. Most kids will have a lot of fun reading this book.

I loved the message of Sidney the Lonely Cloud! Children can easily relate to Sidney not feeling like they are seen/appreciated in the way they should be. It provides great avenues for discussions about how we should treat each other. The illustrations in this book are beautiful! The colors used in the illustrations visually represent how Sidney is feeling throughout the story. Kids will definitely see the transitions. I highly recommend this book for classroom use!

This was a lovely book with a beautiful message about the connection of humans and how one small gesture can make such a big impact. My 7yr old and I found ourselves coming back to this one again and again, we loved the illustrations as well.

A fun children's book about a cloud who is lonely because people don't like gray cloudy days....until he finds the people & animals who rejoice that he showed up, because they're hot & dry and they welcome the shade and rain.

A great story about feelings and a reminder that things (& people) aren't always as they appear...there's often more to the story.

(I was able to preview this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)

The illustrations are the main stand-out here, with bright colors and soft, appealing shapes. The text is very simple and suitable for young children, and the story focuses on a cloud that feels lonely because people are disappointed or run away when he arrives. In the end, he finds a place where people appreciate him. It's a cute story that invites conversation about how people see the same things differently based on their perspectives.
