Love Will Turn You Around is a page-turner! While reading this story, I was humored by the fun introduction of each shape and the creative ideas that the other shapes in the story came up with to help Heart. The illustration was appealing to the eye and the use of onomatopoeia made the story very animated.

Overall, this is a great read for parents and educators to teach not only shape recognition, but the importance of love, friendship, and perseverance as well.

Thank you Netgalley for providing a prepublished copy of Love Will Turn You Around, a joyful way to teach/reinforce math concepts about shapes as well as explore important social skills (teamwork and friendship). This adorable picture book also validates young children's negative emotions (waking up in a bad mood) and teaches children that moods can change, too! All these layers make Mary Munson’s book perfect for preschool-age children! Kate Talbot’s colorful illustrations and the book’s playful language add to the fun.

Love Will Turn You Around is a tender and gentle story about Heart, who feels like he just doesn’t fit in. He tries to be just like each of his shape friends, and they really try their hardest to shape him as one of them, but he’s at his best when he embraces his defining characteristic; love.

The words by Mary Munson are playful and engaging. The strength in this book is that Heart faces his own insecurities without being bullied. In fact, his friends are kind and want him to play along. When they see he is unhappy, they attempt to fix the situation in a sincere but misguided way. Sometimes we are our own harshest critics and this book focuses on that internal aspect. There are a lot of books out there for kids who struggle when someone is mean, so this was a fresh angle.

Kate Talbot’s are is as sincere as the characters. Although the characters are all rendered beautifully, my favorite parts of the art are the plants and trees. Their subtle beauty adds just the right touch so that subconsciously, you always feel that everything will turn out right in the end.

Nicely done!

A cute story about being oneself. Heart wakes up feeling not itself. The other shapes try to help but it can't fit in. Then it realizes it needs love to be itself. Very cute story!

This is a sweet book to remind kids to love themselves! It also has a great message of friendship! Love the illustrations. And my toddler who is all about shapes would love this one. I would definitely say this is one I would grab for her from the library!
