This was a thrill ride from the first page to the last, with tender moments of emotions and the changes growing old takes you through. Two old friends finding themselves in a crazy and at times hilarious bind and working themselves back out of it. Pearl and Sally were truly a hoot! This was a nice escape and a quick and funny read.

I basically picked this one up for the title and the tagline of Golden Girls meets Thelma and Louise. This one kept me laughing from page one till the end. And it was everything I thought it would be.

Mexico, Margaritas and Murder
By Wendy Day

What's it about 🌺
A delightful murder mystery adventure featuring BFFs Sally and Pearl. It's Golden Girls meets Thelma and Louise.

After Sally's husband die, Sally throws out his thread-worn plaid recliner, cashes the life insurance check, and lets her spunky best friend, Pearl, drag her to Mexico for an all-inclusive vacation using their Senior Citizen’s discount.

Between going kayak, sing karaoke, and spy on the next-door nudist resort, Sally's having the best time of her life that is until a fellow guest turns up dead.

My thoughts
It's a bit slow going, but I really enjoyed Sally and Pearl, they were fun and I enjoyed reading about there adventure, I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Mexico, Margaritas, and Murder by Wendy Day is a good mystery beach book.

I liked that it featured senior characters and I also enjoy reading about one of the main character's new beginning in life after the death of her not so great husband.

While I like to get to know the characters well especially in the first book of a new series I have to admit it was a bit slow going as regards to the mystery itself.
Main protagonists really appealed to me, and I rooted for them, I especially admired their friendship and how supportive of each other they were.

That said I had to suspend belief on quite few occasions regarding the mystery and I though it was a bit silly at times.
This is a light and easy read for those without high expectations of accuracy but who read for pure enjoyment.

This was a cute, cozy little book. It wasn't riveting by any means but it was a fun little story. Would recommend.

Thank you NetGalley, Wendy Day and Clear Sky Publishing for the copy of Mexico, Margaritas, and Murder. This is my personal review.
Sally and Pearl have an adventure ahead that neither of them ever imagined would happen in their lives. Off they go to Mexico and the fun begins.
When a fellow guest is killed, they decided they want to find out who did it!
Neither of them was going to let their age get in the way of solving this mystery.
This book had me chuckling as I read parts of it. I liked the mystery and being with them as they worked on solving the murder was good.

'Golden Girls meets Thelma and Louise'

That is what caught my attention and made me want to read this book. And I am so glad I did as it provided me with a lot of fun and entertainment. Pearl and Sally are a hoot and really made this book. And the title said it all. A great setting, a resort and holiday and two older women who love crime and mysteries.

It is a faced paced read which keeps you on your toes and keeps you reading. it had all the fun, mystery and characters you want from a good cosy read. I really enjoyed it and it was a change from some of the books I have been reading lately so that is good for me too.

Lots of fun, holiday frivolity along with a murder of course. Anyone for a Margarita in Mexico!?

3.75 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the Author Wendy Day for the E-Arc. This book was such a hoot I enjoyed Pearl and Sally so much. I can totally see me and my bestie doing this when we are older but still Fabulous. I loved the light comedy even during the heavier moments.

After Sally’s husband unexpectedly dies, she finds herself at a loss. Her new friend Pearl convinces her to go on a vacation to Mexico. Sally agrees and soon finds herself thrilled to be traveling and experiencing life. However, one of the people at their resort turns up dead.

I liked this premise a lot but it took almost halfway through the book to get to the murder. I appreciate we needed some set up especially as an assumedly first in the series, but I thought some of the activities they did at the resort could have been clue finding ones after the mystery part had started.

I almost read this in one sitting. I really enjoyed this book! I smiled a lot and laughed at Pearl and Sally’s shenanigans, I hope everyone finds their Pearl and Sally friendship. Heartwarming and fun - check this book out!

Pearl takes Sally on a vacation trip to Mexico for some recuperation time after her husband passes away. Beach, margaritas, sun, and lots of fun. How much trouble can two seniors get into right?

Seniors turned investigators trying to get to the bottom of a murder conspiracy in Mexico. The best way to summarize the whole plot.

It was well written and I enjoyed reading about the mishaps they found themselves in. I thoroughly enjoyed how humor was imbedded in the events narrative especially the more serious situation. The storyline was delightful and fun to read. It’s a true testament of friendship; how two different individuals with such contradicting personalities can turn out to be such good friends.

Pearl with her over the top loud personality. Sally, the timid reluctant living in her own little cocoon. Such a lovely duo! If I reach Pearl’s age and just have half of her flamboyance, the I don’t care what others think, life’s too short to keep my mouth shut, live my life to fullest attitude, I will be one heck of a happy old lady!

I admired how Sally bit by bit broke through her shell she has built for herself over the years and eventually found her own voice and self. It is never too late to rediscover yourself. Get to know who you are.

My down point with this one was I found it to be quite obvious whom the culprit was. Didn’t get to feel that gloomy sense of mystery and wondering state of who did it. I just wanted more in that part and I feel that somehow lessened my engaging in the storyline a bit. But overall, I don’t regret reading this one and will choose to read more of their adventures if any comes out in the future.

Thanks to Netgalley for granting me a copy of this read for my review.

Every girl needs a friend like Pearl. Every girl needs a friend like Sally.

Bonding over a love of bingo and true crime, Sally and Pearl become the best of friends.

Despite Sally's son's concerns, Sally jumps at the opportunity to travel to Mexico with her best friend. Sally had just lost her husband, so a few relaxing days in the sunshine is probably the best thing for her.

But their holiday turns out to be anything but quiet, adventures abound for Sally and Pearl. Mexico, murders and Margaritas. What more could 2 best friends need?

Would love love LOVE to see this story adapted to screen!

I wanted to like this. I started out liking it. Woman having an adventure with best friend after being married to a less than stellar husband for way too many years? Getting sucked into a murder investigation? Sounded promising! Unfortunately it feel flat for me and ended up being a DNF at 53%. I couldn’t connect to the characters and didn’t find their investigation to be at all realistic or thrilling. It seemed forced and awkward. So bummed!

This is definitely a book about friendship and a murder while on vacation in Mexico. It is a humorous book that I think others will enjoy reading. Sometimes it dragged on a bit for me but still worth the read.

Read this one if you: love witty banter, beachy vibes, and humor mixed in with your cozy mysteries
Skip this one if you: need a plot heavy book with lots of twists and turns to be satisfied

Sally is a newly widowed 60 something who has never been able to live the life she wanted. Her best friend Pearl talks her into traveling to an all inclusive resort in Mexico with her to help her deal with her husbands death. Sally, who has never really travelled, nervously agreed. The relaxing vacation they had planned gets pushed to the wayside when a fellow guest is found dead. Pearl and Sally, both true crime show fanatics, decide to put their knowledge to the test to find out what really happened to the guest. Was it really an accident or was it murder?

Mexico, Margaritas and Murder had me laughing out loud. Pearl and Sally have easily become my favorite cozy mystery characters. The banter between these two made the book for me. Sally, is a no nonsense, anxious, by the book type of woman while Pearl is a fearless, sarcastic, and isn't afraid to tell it how it is. Every Sally needs a friend like Pearl, you can't change my mind!

The mystery itself took awhile to get going, in most cases that would have been a struggle for me but the interactions between Sally and Pearl were enough to keep me entertained until the mystery and sleuthing began. The ending was pretty predictable to me but there were a couple reveals that had me surprised!

Thanks to NetGalley and Clear Sky Publishing for the e-version of this title for review. All opinions presented are my own.

What a lovely pair of friends. 'Oh my stars,' I enjoyed both Pearl with her weird expressions, as well as Sally who was a bit more timid, with her reluctance for new or unknown things 'oh, I don't know' while hanging on to the hem of her shirt as if her life depended on it. But don't we all have things we feel insecure about?

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

Fantastic new cozy by a new author to me! I loved Sally and her growth and evolution as a character. Everyone deserves a friend like Pearl. I truly hope this turns into a series that will continue for a very long time.
It was a very good, and I love books written about older women finding out who they are and what they are truly made of after years of being a wife/mom.
The "mystery" was easy enough to figure out, but the book was so much fun, I didn't care.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley.
