What a book!!! I was hooked right the beginning. It was thrilling, exciting.it was very fast paced throughput the whole book. The plot was nothing short of genius. There was nothing I disliked about the book. I was so sad when it came to an end

Helen lost her husband Paul five years ago when he went missing while skiing in the Swiss Alps. Even though his body was never found he was declared dead as no one could survive the night on the freezing mountainside. After getting over the loss of Paul, Helen is now an acclaimed interior designer and is in a new relationship. She lands a job next door to where Paul disappeared, and upon arriving she makes a shocking discovery and is caught up in the middle of treachery and deceit.
I have read most of Miranda Rijks' books and I'm never disappointed. This one was no exception, as with every book you think you know what will happen but are always blown away by unexpected twists. I loved this one and I highly recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

This started off a little slow but picked up quickly. I loved the different POV and timelines. All in all a great thriller

It’s been a while since I was so hooked up in a story and this one surprised me in the best possible way.

This was good! After a slow start, I wasn't sure where this was going. It got progressively darker, with the tension picking up pace big time. I loved the setting of the Swiss Alps, great plot - loved the duel time line and POV's. The character development was where i felt a little let down. Paul's character was one that I found a little lacklustre/flat. Overall a compelling read, that I would recommend. This is my first by M Rijks, and look forward to reading more from her.

This started off so strong! The scenery was beautiful, nothing better than the Swiss alps for a thriller right?! The longer I read, the more questions developed and then the end didn’t fully tie everything together, which was disappointing. Orla basically gets away with being a horrific human being. Paul, who is so weak it’s laughable, dies anyway, without ever getting to explain his actions to Helen. And how did Maron and Gullierme know Paul was Neomie’s killer? The accident happened on the slopes and the police never knew Paul was even suspected, as Helen tells Teresa she never reported her suspicions. I’m not sure if I missed something in the story somewhere but a plot hole that big significantly decreased my enjoyment. Overall I will try this author again as I was thoroughly entertained throughout the book.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced e-reader copy of this book.

An absolute 5 star, kept me going in a full "I NEED ANSWERS NOW" until the end. The characters are very charismatic, the plot is great and the twists even better. From start to end, i couldn't put it down. And, when it ended, I wanted more from the author.

Yes! This started slow and took a little self convincing to keep going but so glad I kept going. Great thriller, scenery, and story. Really enjoyed this!

Helen has had to be strong and pull herself together and face major adversity. Helens husband Paul goes missing and is presumed dead over 3 years ago in the Swiss Alps. The couple was on holiday when thier disaster occurred and it has taken time for Helen to recover especially since Paul has yet to be found. Fast forward and Helen is an interior designer who is remarried and has a child. Once day she recieves a phone call asking to work on a larger project with a huge budget and she is skpetical. She thinks it is too good to be true and upon research discovers it is becasue the project is at the same area where Paul had disappeared. Helen questions if this is the right time for this project but it is too good to pass up and so Helen treks up to the chalet. As this project progresses things go wrong and continue to go wrong. Helen being who she is has to maintain composure and a decent level of decorum while facing major challenges.

Personally I was not a huge fan. It is a thriller and I typically love thrillers but this fell flat for me. There is dual timelines and they werent hard to keep up with but I didnt think it added much to the story. It is was boring at moments and I discovered the feeling of disdain for a lot of the characters. The plot twist was a little too much and I didnt think it was needed. Because there was a child involved that kept me reading because I wanted to know how she would come out of it. Another really bothersome thing about this book was Helens constant analyzation and assessment of everyone English. First thing to know is that this set in Europe where a lot of people speak other languages or use other words to mean to the same thing. I felt like it was insulting to mention how well someone spoke English right off the bat. But that again is my personal thought. The other thing I absolutely loved was the setting of the book. I have always wanted to visit the Swiss Alps and I could just imagine what it is like there based off the description. I felt like I could feel the cold and see the mountains and hear the snow. Overall it was an okay book and had some good aspects of it!

I thought this book was really good. Being in the Swiss alps in the middles of winter I mean it would be enjoyable. I loved the story. It was very well written but there was a lot of characters. Besides that the book was great

I absolutely fell into the Swiss Alps reading this book. The scenery is beautifully set it feels like you’re standing in the bitter cold alongside Helen as she navigates her husbands disappearance and later in the balmy summer heat. An absolute page turner with an excellent twist about 2/3rds of the way through with a bang of an ending that was just what I wanted to see.

A favourite author of mine! Thrilling and utterly compulsive! An incredible read, impossible to put down. Incredible storytelling! Recommend you read this book! A propulsive read that never let me go from start to finish!

A book set in winter in the Swiss alps just sounds so perfect for me, an isolated thriller is my favourite subgenre! This book definitely began quite slowly but did pick up towards the end. It wasn’t the most amazing thriller I’ve read but it was still enjoyable and was quick to read. I love a dual pov and the twists kept getting better so I would recommend it for anyone wanting a fast thrilling read

That was underwhelming, unfortunately. The author packed too many characters that had no necessity to be there. The ending was trying so hard to be shocking (as all thrillers try to do to be fair), but those loose ends were so “underdone”. And I found the whole experience to be a tad boring (skim-reading doesn’t suit any book). I will compliment the atmosphere of the story though, it is quite cold and Christmas-y

Many thanks to NetGalley, Miranda Rijks, and Inkubator for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review. I give this 4 stars out of 5. I really enjoyed the storyline and how it was told from Helen’s point of view and also from Paul’s point of view. It sucked me in from the beginning and kept me captivated the whole time.

A woman who's husband has been presumed dead for five years, now believes he is still alive and hiding from her.

While I enjoyed the writing style and much of the plot, this novel still seemed to be lacking in some of the finer details and didn't quite feel like a mystery thriller as I was expecting. There was only one major surprise towards the end, which I felt lacked more punch. I loved the setting and truly did like the story, however this didn't really deliver for me.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this in advance.

At first this seems like a typical cheating husband story...which it is. With things going wrong with his marriage, Paul disappears and has been presumed dead for the last five years. Then his wife returns to the place where he disappeared, to do a job as an interior decorator and strange thing start happening. The descriptions of Switzerland, the Alps and the chalets make me wish I could go there some day. Even in the summer there is much to do there, it seems. I wonder how many people are injured, or lost every year, as the emergency team response seems to be well prepared for all happenings. For me, this was a "take it or leave it" kind of book, I put it down a few times and read others in between. But it was an ok book.

Good plot. It was easy read with some unexpected twists. The characters in the book are a bit too primitive, one dimensional.
