I've enjoyed Rijks novels before and her newest story was just as fun as her previous books.
I know whenever I read her books I'm in for an amazing time. I have loved all of her other books!!
Forget Me Not by Miranda Rijks
The narrator, Helen did an excellent job protraying her character which kept me invested and wanting more. This was a one day read because I needed to see how this story ended.
Miranda Rijks gives us a dark and twisty tale that she perfectly plotted and executed.
This book was way better than I anticipated.
I love her books and she has delivered another thrilling read with Forget Me Not.
I thought I enjoyed her previous books..... This one takes the cake!

When a Miranda Rijks book lands on my kindle I know I'm in for an interesting read that that is unputdownable. This book is no exception, with realistic characters, a wonderful setting and an interesting concept for a novel.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Inkubator books for the opportunity to read this advanced copy, my opinions are my own and not expected

3 stars
This is your standard run of the mill thriller. Which is not a bad thing. The suspense is certainly present, and the characters are unreliable so you never quite know what’s going on. I also enjoy time hop books (past to present to past…you know the drill) and it worked here just fine. Fans of this genre will like this book a lot:

Forget Me Not is an unputdownable, gripping thriller that takes place in a close-knit ski village in the Swiss Alps.

Helen, whose husband mysteriously disappeared on a skiing trip five years ago in the Alps, finds herself back in the Alps on business. It stirs up raw emotions, unpleasant memories and mysterious things begin happening. As the story unfolds, there are twists and turns, sinister events, the truth slowly comes out in an extremely clever and captivating way.

The chapters toggle back and forth between “then and now” and chapter by chapter, piece by piece of the story come together. Eventually, you will read chapters from another characters (withholding the characters name to avoid spoilers) and then things really get twisted and more captivating.

Psychological thriller lovers, suspense lovers, mystery lovers and fiction lovers, THIS IS A MUST READ!

I found this to be a fast and easy read.
Things were never quite as they seemed.
Often they weren't particularly believable.
It plods along nicely before escalating at the end.
Very much a light entertaining read, but nothing I'll be raving about in the future.

A holiday gone wrong.

I was looking for a thriller book when I stumbled upon Forget Me Not by Miranda Rijks in Netgalley. Aside from the beautiful but ominous cover, the blurb interested me because it is right up my alley.

Setting
The author did a great job in creating a powerful setting for the story. The beauty of Valais, Switzerland was perfectly captured that it made me want to pack up my bags and go on an adventure in the Swiss Alps.

Characters
This, I would say, is the weakest element of the story. I know that flaws make the character more human and more real, which makes them relatable; but it has a detrimental effect on me as a reader. I’m unable to emotionally connect with them.

Plot/Pacing
It was well-paced and the author was able to build the right amount of tension as the story progressed. The shift in timelines and POVs were seamless. However, there were just too many conflicts thrown into the story (to make it more suspenseful, I guess) and the ending was a big letdown. I felt I did not get enough closure.

In Conclusion
Overall, Forget Me Not is a fairly compelling page-turner with its memorable location and plot twists. I am not closing my doors to the other works of the author.

My takeaway
Karma is a bitch.

Thank you Netgalley, especially to the author Miranda Rijks, and to Inkubator Books for a free copy of this ebook. I am voluntarily leaving my review.

I pushed through to finish this one. It just dragged for me but I see why others would like it

I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't get into it. I almost didn't even finish this book, but I pushed through hoping it would get better. I couldn't even feel sorry for Helen after she "lost" her husband. I can't even say this book was suspenseful for me and the ending just felt rushed. I just wish there was more to it and at least it only took a day to read.

Helen and her husband Paul are in the Swiss Alps.
Helen tells Paul that she is pregnant, and he tells her he wants a divorce.
Paul then goes missing, presumed dead, while skiing.

Helen grieves her loss for herself and her unborn baby, but pulls her life together, gaining a lucrative career and meets Andrew, who is a good partner and a good father to Emily.

Helen goes back to the Swiss Alps on a project to design an interior for a rich woman, and swears that she sees Paul while she is at a social gathering.

Helen soon finds out how her perfect life turns out to be a perfect nightmare when her daughter Emily goes missing.

I disliked Paul immediately, he certainly was not a very likable character, whereas Helen and Andrew are characters I were drawn to. Andrew is a loving family man who is in love with his partner, and very tender and fatherly towards Emily.
Helen is also a strong character in my opinion, and did not deserve what happened to her in the Alps.

I would just like to point out an error though, about 44 or 46% though the book,(sorry, I relied on my memory), where the doctor had recommended Helen visit the spot where (it says Andrew) fell to his death, instead of where Paul fell to his death.

I spotted a few spelling typos through the book as well. A proof reader might want to check.

All in all, a very entertaining book, I enjoyed it very much.

I do enjoy Miranda Rijks's books, they soon draw the reader into a state of wanting to know what happens next.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Helen, an interior designer, has finally found happiness again after losing her husband Paul six years ago. Though his body was never discovered, it’s presumed he fell to his death while skiing in the Swiss Alps. When a job opportunity takes Helen back to the Alps, she is hesitant but can’t pass it up. She moves there for the duration of the project with her daughter and new fiancé Andrew. But soon after, strange things start happening that cause Helen to question the past six years. Nothing is as it seems and Helen and her daughter may be in danger.

Well, this was another fabulously twisty story by Miranda Rijks!! She is quickly becoming an auto buy author for me with her ability to craft these thrillers. The short chapters kept me reading quickly and the dual points of view gave a voice to the all the main characters involved. I love atmospheric books too and this one was rich in the beauty of The Swiss Alps in all its seasons. I also love when there is a twist I don’t see coming and this one provided several! Thank you to Netgalley, Inkubator Books and Miranda Rijks for the ARC!

“Forget Me Not” will be released October 26th!

3.5/5 ⭐️

Helen is an interior designer in the UK, taking on a huge new project in Switzerland—where her husband went missing years before. Once she starts the job, she starts to unravel what really happened all those years ago in that small town. Strange things are happening at work, and she even thinks she spots her ex-husband. This book follows Helen’s story, and how it wasn’t what she thought it was.

📚 Genre: Thriller
♥️ What i liked: I love skiing and snow, so the setting was perfect, I’d totally visit Switzerland now.
✂️ What i didn’t like: Helen, kept telling everyone that “they spoke such great English.” The author wrote it in SO many times, it was annoying — it’s condescending, not a compliment. 🤢

This was my first time reading a book by this author and I really enjoyed it. She did a great job of making you hate the bad guys and root for the underdog. I really liked Helen and was glad that she had moved on and found love and was able to launch her career after her husband went missing. I was glad she came out on top and she was hilarious at the end when she went back to the plaque.

I don’t want to give too much of the plot away because it is better revealed in the book. But, I thought the author’s timing in revealing the secret could have come later. It was revealed too early in my opinion and the overlap in stories made it lag a bit.

Overall good writing and i enjoyed it. Would read another book by this author!

**This book has not been published yet, but will be released on October 26. Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the advanced reader’s copy for review.**

Helen lost her husband, and might lose her life? Helen is not the luckiest gal around, many years ago, she lost her husband while on a ski trip, maybe? His body was never found, so they just assume he’s dead. Helen just got an irresistable job offer to renovate a gorgeous space, only catch is that it is in the same location that her husband went missing.

I wanted to like this, because the premise sounded good, but I DNF’ed @ the 40% mark, it was too slow building and I did not care for the characters.

Forget Me Not is set in the cold of Switzerland with a few whodunnits along the way. Helen and Paul go to a ski resort. While there a young woman is killed and thus begins the first journey to solving this case.

Helen and Paul have a crumbling marriage to begin with. For some reason when Helen talks to Paul about the murder he grows very strange and they have a fight.

Paul goes out on a ski run and never returns. The body isn't found and Helen and her daughter are devastated.

Time moves on and Helen is offered a job as an interior designer at the same ski resort. She decides to take it so off the and her daughter go.

In the meantime she has fallen in love again with Andrew. She wants to marry as soon as Paul is legally declared dead.

As she come to the resort the mysterious past comes back to inform the present.

A very spooky fast paced book.
Perfect for a winter read.

Forget Me Not had me on the edge of my seat from the word go. If you are looking for an author who never fails to deliver a page-turner that will keep you reading late into the night, be sure to add Miranda Rijks to your TBR immediately.

Five years ago, Helen lost her husband during a skiing holiday in the Swiss Alps. Though his body was never recovered, Paul is presumed dead, and Helen has moved on with her life along with the couple's child, Emily. When her work takes her back to the Swiss town where she lost her husband, Helen is unsettled but knows that she must find closure to the dark chapter of her life. But a shocking discovery will take her straight back to the trauma of the past, and present an entirely new element of danger.

This is a five star read that held me in its grasp from beginning to end.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an ARC.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks to the publisher for the copy. Mystery and intrigue from page one until the ending...a surprise ending actually. The main character is an interior designer who has a missing/deceased husband. She and her significant other are waiting to marry when it is legally possible to do so...years after the husband is declared legally dead. Her daughter loves the new daddy in her life. Is her real dad dead? Is the husband dead or missing? Did he walk away? Where is he? Circumstances take the wife/mom back to the area where her husband disappeared. Problems ensue...one after another...this is a talented and gifted author at writing a cannot put down novel that while it is fiction, reads, at times, like nonfiction. It could happen. It might have happened. It might still happen. Do not miss this book. I am eager to read more form this author.

Anything by Miranda Rijks is an automatic buy for me, and this one did not disappoint.

Forget Me Not felt authentic - I could feel the coldness of the blustering snow in the Swiss Alps, see the skiers slaloming down the mountainside, and feel Helen's desperation as she searches for first her husband Paul, and then years later is shattered by another search on the mountainside.

I loved how the story revolves around the tale of Paul and what he does for love. Stupid boy.

And finally, I loved the elements of interior design, which Helen is trying to balance with everything else going on in her life. The delays, homeowner expectations and clashes with contractors also ring true to life.

Thank you, Miranda, for coming through with another creative plot and suspenseful narrative.

And thanks to NetGalley, Inkubator Books and Booksprout for an advance reader's copy for review
