I honestly was drawn to this book originally because of it taking place in my home state, Pennsylvania! What a great debut novel for Jaworowski! I felt like I needed to know what was coming next! It was a page turner for sure! I enjoyed the depth of the story and characters. I would definitely recommend this one! It’s nice and short, so an easy and quick read!!

Having grown up in a small town in Pennsylvania, this book gave a Very realistic view of what it’s like to grow up in such a place. I enjoyed the way the story was told from different points of view. Great interesting characters. I will be recommending this book to friends and family and I will keep my eye open for this authors next novel. Thank you for my advance copy

This is an intense read--honest, raw, disturbing, and very moving. Small Town Sins is the story of three 3 individuals living in a small town in Central Pennsylvania. Nathan, Andy, and Callie surely have seen one another in town--it is small enough that has to be the case. However, they are also unknown to one another. They move through this town, each trying to make the burdens of life just a little easier--either for themselves, or for someone they love. Each has their morality tested and tested and tested. Each passes the tests, and each fail the tests. Lessons are learned, loves discovered, relationships lost--in short, via these three characters, we see the depth and humanity of a small town lives.

Jaworowski's writing is unflinching in showing the pain of life, the moral failures of good people, and the morality and humanity of the deeply troubled. KJ creates a beautiful. flawed, and realistic town filled with humans in all their messy glory. I won't lie--it was a hard book to read, but it was moving and well worth the discomfort and effort. Weeks after finishing I find myself returning to Locksburg and these character.

What a look into small towns. I grew up in town of 500 hundred and didn't notice this! Was interesting story but----

4.5 ⭐️ This fast paced book took me by surprise! Told from multiple perspectives- the twists, turns, and never ending series of bad luck made it difficult to put this book down. Despite the flaws of each main character, I couldn’t help but root for them. The characters were very relatable, the villains were very hatable, and I loved that we got to be present when Karma comes around! The ending left me wanting more!

This was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Follows multiple story lines in the same small town, some that overlap briefly. Author writes characters that you will
Connect with and begin to root for.

Was surprised but the ending and how quickly a few of the story lines ended. There were a couple that I wished we had gotten another chapter or two before we concluded their stories.

Great read and writing.

I loved the author’s style and the use of three perspectives throughout the book, cycling through the events of the main characters lives in this short period of time. The book was suspenseful at times, touching on some topics that were tough to read through. I found the main characters primarily unsympathetic but that didn’t bother me based on the style and theme of the story. The story wrapped up abruptly, I wasn’t quite ready for it to end. But I enjoyed the ride.

This book was amazing. There was so much action starting from the first page. This story was truly heartbreaking. Normally with multi POV stories, I get tired of one of the story lines and find myself not wanting to read certain people's stories. This book was not the case, so much was happening in every plot line. Please check trigger warnings for this book, it is very heavy and contains a lot of death. There was a lot of drama in this book, but I didn't find any of the issues that came up unbelievable. I especially loved how everyone is connected. The end was so unsatisfying, and I would definitely buy the sequel if there were one. This was such a good read. It was not what I was expecting in the best way possible.

Told from different perspectives Small Town Sins could happen anywhere around the world. Small town life is either easy or hard depending on how you look at it. I found the story compelling and diverse being I live in a small town too. Until next time Happy Reading!

Possible spoiler alert:

I really thought this story was building up to a climax where all of the characters lives would collide. Like we’d see how one person’s actions impacted another and there’d be a domino effect. In the end, I’m left wondering “So what? What’s the point?” There was no big takeaway from this book for me, no big mystery here, no thrilling plot twist. Just a bland look into some dysfunctional lives.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Ken Jaworowski's Small Town Sins is a Big City Hit or wherever you read it! And yo really should; heck, you MUST! Why? Simply, you will never read a book like it! It's like reading three separate yet interwoven mysteries, in one. Setting in a rural small town in Eastern US, we get to glimpse into their lives, seems like their real lives. Jaworowski got me, hook, line, and proverbial sinker. I laughed, talked to the characters, hoped, wished, got angry, angrier, cried throughout the last chapter. Nathan, Callie Andy--all slightly damaged by life and life choices, some good, some not.. Usually, in my reviews, I'll briefly summarize the work. Won't on Small Town Sins. It's about the three tarnished characters coping the best they know how. So well-written, plotted, paced, real characters! Five Stars!!!
I highly recommend this outstanding book!!!!!

WOW. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I requested an ARC of this title! I was intrigued by the synopsis especially when a small town was mentioned in PA. I grew up on the border of NY/PA in a small town in the middle of no where. Once I started reading about the three lives - I was INVESTED. The three lives of ordinary people who are struggling. I felt for them. It is very depressing read about their struggles with suicide, family death, addiction/drugs, cheating, etc. I was constantly wondering what was to come, it was hard to put down this book. I can say that I’ve never read anything like this thriller! Looking forward to more from this author. Thank you to Henry Holt & Company and Net Galley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I did not want this book to end!
It follows 3 characters living in a small town of Locksburg, PA, who's lives are just barely entertwined. All facing major life obstacles and decisions that come with it.
The character development is amazing, no matter how gritty or wrong, I really felt for these people. The pace not to fast but just enough to keep you hanging on full of emotions.
Look forward to more reads from Ken Jaworowski!
Thank you, Netgalley, publisher, and author for the ARC!

This is the author’s fictional debut as each of the characters stand at the crossroads of a life altering choice, you can hear a voice whispering “You can still walk away”. What will they do?
The chapters alternate between Nathan, Callie and Andy set in nowheresville PA a, blue collar working town. Some of them are trying to better their circumstances, while others just want out of the loser town. Some characters are morally decent, good at heart, satisfied with mediocre, others are selfish addicts, thieves, adulterers, liars and amoral. A few are sympathetic, likable, others aren’t.
Nathan’s wife Paula is a nurse. Nathan has seen some rough patches but his one snap decision will spiral into an endless attempt to cover up with a lie, then another, and so on. Andy’s married to Kate and they have a child with disabilities. They’ve overcome unimaginable circumstances, but nothing like what’s ahead. Callie’s a compassionate nurse who has no self-esteem or social life. Can she take a risk that forever changes her future? Will it cost her career, is it worth taking the chance?
There were a few scenes that resembled a comedy of errors on a TV reality show, some heartbreaking events and a few twists I didn’t see coming. An author worth watching.
“Small Town Sins” by Ken Jaworowski, published by Henry Holt and Company is expected to be published Sept. 1, 2023. The digital advance reader copy was provided by NetGalley. These are all my own honest personal thoughts and opinions given voluntarily without compensation.

I connected to this book in various ways. The characters were similar to everyday people. What makes us make the choices we do? It felt like a jigsaw puzzle with each piece revealing more of the picture. It was a wild ride for all three of the small town sinners. One of the better books I’ve read this year. I wish it didn’t have to end.
Thank you NetGalley and Ken Jaworowski for allowing me to read this captivating book in exchange for a review.

As a Central Pennsylvania native, I definitely understand the trials and tribulations the characters go through. Each of the main characters are flawed, but there’s a lot of redeeming qualities in them despite their actions. You want want them to win, you want them to do good, even through some of their cringe worthy acts. I find myself wanting to know more of these characters journeys. A worthy debut.
