Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an early copy of this delightful beach read and this review is my honest opinion.
Although I read this book in late January, I could definitely see my self stopping into this wonderful bookshop any time of the year.
Jess has been blindsided by her husband’s affair.
Her 30 year old daughter, Caitlin can’t seem to find a job she likes and Allison, best friend of Jess, is having a career crisis of her own.
What’s not to like about this book? A beach town with a book and coffee shop run by two savvy women, a second chance at a very satisfying career and quite possibly a little love along the way.

This book is exactly what is says it will be - a multigenerational story of mothers and daughters in the picturesque setting of Cape Cod. While there are heavy topics (divorce, finding ones purpose, cheating, etc) discussed, there is a very calm and non-dramatic tone throughout the book. It is exactly what I needed at the time, and I think it really is a perfect beachy/poolside read for the summer. There are several plots interwoven, and I really loved how the threads of our characters are loose at the beginning but come together quite naturally at the end. This book in many ways is a like a hug. There is a glimmer of romance, which I always appreciate. If you like really sweet multigenerational family stories, I think you will really enjoy this. Thank you to NetGalley at the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

I really enjoyed reading The Bookshop by the Bay by Pamela Kelley. I love the multi generational friendship stories. I particularly enjoyed the younger girls friendship. I have been to the small town in the book and can imagine walking the streets and beaches with the characters. I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to hand sell this book. I’m hoping it flies off our shelves.

I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to all these characters. I really enjoyed being a fly on the wall in their journey to figuring out what they all wanted in life. I love the book and coffee shop setting, the characters, their growth, the small town feel, the general support shown throughout. I truly just want to hug them all, it’s so easy to love characters when they are genuine and really sweet.

This is the perfect book to curl up on the couch with and finish in a day, but also the perfect beach read.

I didn’t want this to end. I just want to keep reading about the bonds between these mothers and daughters and the love and support they all have for each other in this book.

Thank you to St. Martins's Press and NetGalley for this advanced copy.

A wonderful story about a woman, Jess, and her daughter, Caitlin, who decide to change their lives and begin a new life in Jess's childhood hometown on Cape Cod, MA. This wasn't their choice but after Jess finds out that her husband has had an affair with a co-worker and also realizing that her marriage hasn't been good for years it was time for a change.
Upon returning to the Cape she reconnects with her childhood friends and things get very interesting for both women!
You will especially love this story if you are familiar with Cape Cod. I enjoyed how popular businesses, restaurants and locale's were included in the storyline. If you haven't been to Cape Cod you just might need to schedule a trip to the Cape soon!

Loved this story, Friends, life changing decisions, romance, and a bookshop/coffeeshop, what more could you want? This is perfect read for a day at the beach.

Jess, Alison, Julia and Caitlin have a summer of decisions to make. Jess and Caitlin whether to stay in Charleston or not. Alison and Julia what their future goals are. The four of them become involved in Chatham on Cape Cod. These are life changing decisions about work, friends, and residence. All four of them have love lives that they don't expect with old and new friends.
Read this summer tale of four women and their life decisions.

For its genre, chick-lit, this is good! It is a story about losses and new beginnings. It is a good, interesting, heartwarming story for a beach read. The characters are likeable and its just a pleasant. It is a light book that still remains engaging. Strong female characters too!

I will leave my review on Amazon and B&N on June 6th

Bookshop by the Bay by Pamela M. Kelley, was a entertaining read for me. The book centers around two life long friends, and their daughters. When Jess realizes that her marriage isn't going well, she plans to disscuss things with her husband only to see his assistant one day at the office with a surprise baby bump under her shirt. One look at her husband and she realizes her life is changes forever, what follows is a journey to reclaim her peace of mind and made mind altering decisisons that affect her future. Traveling back to her hometown for a month hopefully will give her time to come to terms with her life. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

I received and ARC from NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin, and I am leaving my review voluntarily and the opinion expressed here are my own.

This book was fun to read!
We follow Jess and Allison who are life long friends and have recently had some shortcomings. Along with both their daughters Caitlin and Julia.
Instead of letting what's happened bring them down they decide to support each other and buy a book store/coffee shop. This book showcases strong female friendships, and the knowledge that no matter what life throws at you that you can still start fresh and succeed.

This was a good story about mothers, daughters, friendship and going back home to find yourself. Lifelong friends Jess and Alison reunite in Chatham after Jess discovers her husband had an affair and is having a child with his secretary who works in the same office that she works in and she has to leave and figure out what to do with her life now. Alison on the other hand is a writer for a failing magazine but when she finds out that the beloved bookstore in town is looking for a new owner she can’t help but wish that she had the funds to buy it. Caitlin and Julie the daughters who never really become friends like their mothers find themselves with more in common than they thought and a new friendship blooms. I liked how they got the bookstore running as well as the small café since I am a sucker for bookstores featured in novels since I work in one. I like how Caitlin find herself in Chatham without her city friends talking down to her about what she wants and that Julie finds love right under her nose.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book in e-book form. All opinions in this review are my own.

This is a lovely story from an enjoyable author. Set in Chatham MA is about starting over after personal loses and believing in oneself again. As her marriage dissolves the main character leaves a successful legal career in Charleston to go to Chatham to recover. She learns about friendships and to trust herself as she begins a new career with a bookshop and coffee/tea room. I found myself totally involved with all the characters and did not want to put the book down. I signed a deep sign at the end. I would love to go there and meet all those wonderful people.
I highly recommend this book to all age groups. It will put a smile on your face.
I wish to thank NetGalley and St Martin’s Press, St Martin’s Griffin for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed Pamela Kelley's new book, The Bookshop by the Bay. It's a story of strong women, working through issues with family, aging, and friendship. I love the cross-generation relationships - Jess and Caitlin's relationship, Jess and her mom, Julia and Allison. There were so many strong women supporting each other through breakups, divorces and knowing where they wanted life to take them next. I appreciate NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I started out making myself a chart so I could keep track of who’s who and all the relationships. Then I realized that this book just wasn’t for me. I do apologize to the author because I’m sure there’s an audience who will love this story. But I just couldn’t relate to it. Even if they’re very different from me, I have to care about the characters and what happens to them. I this case, I just wanted to wish them well and get on with my next book. This book releases soon, so I would urge Ms. Kelley’s fans (and I know she has many) to pick it up and try it for themselves.
