I absolutely loved this book. the dark humour and wittiness had me hooked and desperate for more. I loved the main character Kitty and was rooting for her, although i was not keen on her friends friends they were all pretty obnoxious. A great story with short sharp chapters. The narrator was great and i liked how the whole story was told in kitty's first hand voice. A dark but humorous read perfect for Halloween.

Thank you HarperCollins UK Audio, HQ Digital and Netgalley for this audio copy. I have enjoyed the the book that presents really heavy themes but also with a simplicity that make everyone understand the man were not nice to woman and they need to be punished. Kitty has a cute name and as a famous influencer she has also some skills she earned by survying in the world of influencers. That has many advantages but also some negativities. Well everything has positive an negative sides. It is nice to see the things positive.

I really should have read the reviews that said 'not for the faint of heart'. I don't consider myself particularly inclined that way but a few pages of this book really might have changed my mind. Having read the (inevitably compared to) 'How To Kill Your Family' by Bella Mackie this year, this book continues the trend of vaguely justifiable homicidal women in novels doing crazy things. If serial killers/black comedy/murder are your kind of thing, you'll probably get on well with this book, but it really wasn't for me. Seeing as the part I liked least about Mackie's novel was the stuck-up main character, seeing basically the same one here was all the motivation I needed to not finish it.

Katy Brent writes a blackly humorous, fun and entertaining novel with her beautiful female Dexter like protagonist, the wealthy, sassy and popular social media influencer, Kitty Collins, whose father went missing and her mother has moved abroad, leaving her a fabulous London home to live in. I both listened to this on audio, narrated beautifully by Victoria Morrison, it is 9 hours and 25 minutes long and I read along with it too. The audio kept my attention throughout, and the narrator is certainly someone I will look out for in the future. This is one for the #MeToo generation, for every woman who has been terrified by the man following her on the dark streets, and for those who have been harrassed, abused, controlled, physically and sexually assaulted by men, for here they get their just desserts and then some.

Katy just happens to stumble accidently into what is to become her below the radar vocation when she is followed after a night out by an unpleasant, drunk and entitled bloke who feels she owes him, only for him to fall and cut his throat on a piece of a broken wine bottle and bleeds out. This is to be the start of Kitty taking up her vigilante role of taking out men who deserve to die. We learn that Kitty is a scared woman too, she has her very own stalker who follows her online and seems all too well informed about what she is doing. On a personal level, Kitty is wary when it comes to men after a relationship with Adam, an author who betrayed and exploited her, and it is not until she meets Charlie, a charity worker, that she is willing to risk entering into another relationship, although trust issues are to arise again.

Katy, the smart and twisted killer is not short of male victims who do not see her coming and are made to pay for their crimes against women by losing their lives. Events culminate in Katy setting out to kill in what she hopes will be her final murder, only to find herself coming up against her surprising stalker. This is a fun and engaging crime read that highlights how it is possible to not really know the people who are close to us and provides us with a charismatic character who stylishly pulls off a killing spree, but will she able to give up this sideline she has developed and which could be viewed by many as a public service! I think it could work well if it was turned into a TV series with the right actors. I can certainly recommend the audio too. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.

So addictive, I found it hard to put down. I tend to be a slow reader but I basically inhaled this book. I love the switch of an accident murder, to vigilance “justice” to an addictive, sadistic need. Some pop culture references unfortunately are already a bit dated. The twists and turns had me hooked

There’s definitely a crude and swear warning for this book. There’s an F and/or C word almost guaranteed on every page so if you don’t mind that, you can proceed without shock. It fits with the blase attitude of the main character and it’s just what she’s like. An Instagram influencer, brought up with privilege and very much stereotypical in her lifestyle and attitude. With the exception of the sideline of murder of course.

It’s true, I hated the main character. She constantly said things and did things that irked me (more my fault than the books) but the hugely entertaining story and how it was written easily made it retain its 5 star rating from me. Kitty’s inner monologue kept me hooked and the series of events in the book had you on the edge of your seat.

The narration was also outstanding and really embodied Kitty’s character perfectly. It really felt like her character was reading the story and not an actor going through the motions and saying the words. There’s definite trigger warnings for this. Drugs, eating disorders, self harm, alcohol and not to mention the murders so as long as you go in aware or are feeling strong enough it’s green to go.

I enjoyed it and enjoyed wondering what would happen next. It was unpredictable, addicting and it managed to hold me throughout. It was entertaining and dark, and as long as you know what you’re in for, perfectly intriguing book to get stuck into.

I really enjoyed this book its quite humerus at times. But there is a serious message underneath that women are sick of being treated as objects that can be used, abused and hung out to dry. Kitty is a kind of vigilante who makes sure that those men who committed these sexual crimes never do it again, ever!

I listened to this on audiobook, loved the narrator and would definitely listen to more books read by her. The ending was very satisfying with the way she helped others. I use the term loosely but it's a lighthearted read and I found it really entertaining.

🪟 Book Review 🪟

Have you ever observed how some people are able to say harsh things - in a subtle manner without much difficulty, whereas we are struggling to find the right words to convey the same thoughts politely? That's what happened here. The topics discussed in the book are quite heavy but the Author has managed to convey those points in a humorous manner. At times I felt astonished at myself to be laughing at the weirdest things.

A rather weird combination of Dark and Humorous, this book is set up in a modern world where we are 24*7 online, surrounded by dating apps, social Influencers, parties, drugs and yet scared to be alone at night.
I did wonder how some murders described in the book can so easily be taken care of ... But other than that everything was digestible. I am honestly amazed at the capability of this book to mix up two poles apart features of writing something dark yet funny. The foodie inside me would describe it as an Oreo that's dark outside and white vanilla cream inside 😋

First off…everyone needs a Kitty Collins in their life. Like…non-negotiable.

Second…give me ALL the Dexter vibes!! I devoured this book.

Lastly…this book is for the thriller-seekers and the steel stomaches. It is NOT for the faint of heart. (I think I may never eat meat again tbh…) And not gonna lie, I thought I knew exactly where it was going, until the fork in the road took me in a completely different direction and I was FLOORED!!

Kitty, an Instagram influencer, is fed UP with boys who take advantage of her friends…so she gets revenge…

Her IG troll knows her every move AND every kill…will she get away with it? Or will she be outed? 😱

Can’t even wait until April 11, 2023 when I can force you all to read it AND YOU’LL HAVE NO EXCUSE!!

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Audio for the opportunity to listen this rollercoaster of an amazing story!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5
