The author is brilliant and I liked the suspense. I loved the duel timelines and the characters. It's me. I just didn't get into this one.

This was an action packed story of a group of teenagers who spent time together during the summer holidays.
Most of them were reckless and not controlled or supervised by their parents.. One of the group was only there during the summer and although very close to one of the group not really part of the group. It turns into a tragedy of large proportions which at the time had little affect on their lives. This all changes when the least attached person returns to live there permanently.. The conclusion took me by surprise.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. Lynch is one of my favorite thriller authors! But this is my least favorite of all her books for me.
I couldn’t get connected with any of the characters. Time movement between past and present was good. The conclusion was smart. I can only give this book 3 stars. But I look forward to her next book!

Lynch is one of those authors that never disappoints as far as I'm concerned.

Willow meets Kathi Jo as a teen when her family visits their lake house for the summer and Kathi Jo and her mother haved moved in next door to the lake house permanently. They become fast friends and are inseperable, doing all the things teenage girls do on a lazy summer day.

But after a few years, one summer something happens, something that isn't talked about and we don't know WHAT for a while. And then Kathi Jo disappeared. She supposedly ran off, but people question that.

Willow is back at the lake house area, having inherited it from her parents. She's living in an apartment in town while renovations on the house happen and she's debating whether she should sell or move in.

Thing start to happen. Someone is contacting Willow about what happened to Kathi Jo, and we start to learn what happened that summer so long ago.

I loved the dual timeline for this one. Lynch really does a great job of telling a story. You feel like you are there, and you get to know the characters, and are totally invested in the story!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK/One More Chapter for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a good read. I did not give it 5 stars because it was not the kind of book I could not put down. However, that could be personal. She did a really good job with the story!

Willow Roberts is renovating the home she inherited from her parents. It is located near a lake in Hillendale, Kentucky. She is currently divorcing her husband and is staying in a small apartment while the work is being done. When she gets a call from her construction team saying there is a body in the closet at the house, she is shocked.

Willow and her family spent their summers at the lake and she became best friends with Kathi Jo Redfield who lived in the town with her mother. Willow yearned for the summers when she and Kathi Jo spent every minute together along with a few other friends. The last year Willow spent there, Kathi Jo went missing and was never seen again.

When Willow sees the body, it looks like Kathi Jo and she wants the police to investigate this and find out what happened to her friend so many years ago. However, Willow cannot tell the police everything about this case because she is hiding her own big secret. Now, someone knows what she did and is determined to see her pay.

For me, this book was just OK. I’m really not interested in the rambling antics of teenagers. Nothing really scary here to make a good thriller for adults.

An easy, quick read but with a good storyline. After returning to renovate her family summer house Willow is forced to face up to her last summer there as a teenager and the disappearance of her best friend Kathi Jo. There are surprises in store for the reader as its not an obvious plot.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read The Summer She Disappeared.

Carissa Ann Lynch has written another psychological thriller you really do not want to miss. She is one of my favorite suspense authors and she did not disappoint with her latest The Summer She Disappeared. A fast paced thriller told in dual timelines from past to present. The characters are well developed from younger to older, they will leave their mark on you. Me. Lynch is an excellent storyteller and she proves that with this one. Her proper placement of the many twists were surprising!! She left me speechless with that unexpected ending. As always, I highly recommend this book and author, she is great one!!

Thank you NetGalley, One More Chapter, Harper Collins UK and Carissa Ann Lynch for this intriguing book to read and review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Willow inherits her family's summer house. She hasn't been there in 20 years since her best friend Kathi Jo disappeared. She travels to the house to fix it up and is being targeted. A body is found in the house. The story alternates between what happened in Willow's teenage past and what is happening in the present as was tense and suspenseful.

Willow Roberts inherits her family's lake house - the place of some of her happiest childhood memories. It has been years since she has been back there. She stopped going after her best friend disappeared. Now that Willow is back and renovating the house, someone who knows what happened that last summer is determined to make Willow face the truth about that summer.
I normally love this author's books, but this one fell a little flat for me. Kathi Jo was not at all likeable, so I just could not get invested in her disappearance. The first of the book started out promising, but then it fizzled out and just meandered along until the very end where the mystery was solved. I did feel like the ending was forced, especially after the way the book rambled along. This definitely won't stop me from reading future books by this author, but I can't give this one the "must-read" that I really want to give it.

Willow and her parents used to spend the summer months at their summerhouse by the lake and it was here that Willow met her best friend Kathi Jo. When she inherits the house twenty years later, Willow is forced to face the town she hasn't been to since childhood and when her friend ran away.

Leaving her estranged husband, Willow escapes to the town where nothing has changed but everything is now different. When a body shows up, Willow knows exactly who it is. What really happened the summer that Kathi Jo ran away?

This was a great read. I was hooked immediately as we went from the present to the past through Willow's perspective. It was through these chapters that we learnt of their friendship and slowly what happened that fateful summer.

The present day time line in conjunction with past events allows for atmospheric and intense scene-setting in this psychological suspense. And the complex characterisation of the young girls provides the reader with a point of view of the events that will differ from an adults.

The suspense ramped up through the book as each secret was revealed, culminating in a dramatic yet poignant ending. The author did an amazing job bringing the story to life, leaving this reader with an unsettled feeling at times.

Willow Roberts returns to her summer lake home, but now it's hers and she's 20 years older. This was a place she spent her summers as a child with her parents, this is also where she met her best friend, Kathi Jo. There first summer together was magical for Willow, they spend days lazily swimming and talking about their favorite movie Titanic. When Willow returned to her trailer and the school year, she could not wait for the next summer to explore with Kathi Jo, but things changed, there was now boys in the picture and Willow tried to keep up with the evolving Kathi Jo. Willow never cared for the boys in the group and longed for the days before when it was just her & Kathi Jo. Willow returning with plans to renovate the lake house and possibly sell it, has brought up many memories of those summers spent there, and that one summer where everything changed and Kathi Jo ran away.... where is she now? Who is watching Willow, wanting to reveal what Willow did that last summer.

Told in dual timelines, the summers spent at the lake house as a young adolescent girl and present day adult Willow. This is a story of coming of age and the choices we make that shape our future. A story of a woman who has many regrets and is looking for answers as to what happened to her best friend. Carissa is one of my favorite authors and I always look forward to the next read from her.

The Summer She Disappeared is a fast paced read that is told in dual timelines.

Willow has inherited her parents vacation home and she returns to the summer town where the memories are bad and secrets are dark.

Her best friend Kathi Jo disappeared years ago and someone is secretly threatening Willow to leave town.

What secrets does Willow have that she is hiding from everyone including herself.

Twists and turns keep you reading and the ending was well done.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK , One More Chapter for a page turning read.

Willow has inherited the summer house she grew up in but it's been twenty years since she's set foot in the place. Now the town only has bad memories for her, considering her best friend disappeared all those years ago. Deciding to fix the house up and put it on the market, Willow finds herself being targeted while there. Someone knows what happened that summer all those years ago. Someone knows Willow was involved. Someone wants the truth to come out.

This book sounded promising and to be honest, it was decent enough. The story plodded along and I was happy to keep reading but there was something about it that just didn't pull me in. I didn't love any of the characters and wasn't all that interested in trying to guess who did it. Maybe because I read so many thrillers, this one just didn't seem to reach the same level that I usually prefer. All in all, it was an okay read and I would still recommend it to thriller fans as they may enjoy it more than me.

A psychological suspense that is atmospheric and intense draws the reader into both timelines through Willow's viewpoint. The complex characterisation of young Willow and her friend Kathi Jo allows the reader to see events through their eyes which is different from adult perceptions.

The present-day timeline is plausible and, in conjunction with the events over twenty years ago, gives the reader essential information to solve the investigation. The suspense intensifies with each reveal, and the ending, whilst discernible, is dramatic and poignant.
I like the characterisation, the setting and the suspenseful ethos.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I loved this fast-paced thriller by Carissa Ann Lynch. It's told through Willow's point of view and switches back and forth between present day and the past. I'm a fan of books that do this already; I couldn't put this down. It has suspense, drama, and even a tiny bit of romance. It kept me up well past my bedtime, and I didn't see who the killer was until the very end.

Original, tense, and with a ton of plot twists, this might be Lynch's best book yet!
