A week before her wedding, Darla McAdam’s ex comes to town wanting her to follow him to California. Wondering if she should get married because she still feels the excitement she one felt for her ex. Not knowing what to do she turns to her Granny Roxie who has been married fifty years. A great story.

Thanks to Carolyn Brown and Sourcebooks Casablanca!

The Wedding Gift

I read the book in one afternoon, once you start it you just can't put it down.

Darla and Will were getting married abut both of them had exes from the past try to change their minds and get them to call off the wedding.

I found Claud and Roxie to be funny characters and really enjoyed their part in it.

The book made you feel the emotions that the characters were feeling. Ms Brown did an excellent job on this book and I was a little disappointed when it ended.

A Slow Dance Holiday

This novella took no time at all to read, because it was so good and you finish it before you know it. Jorja moves to her grandmother's bar and is told that her partner Cam will be there and they will be sharing the apartment attached to the bar.

Little did she know that Cameron was a guy and a very good looking one.

Loved the story. Ms. Brown has a way of writing that draws you in and makes you kinda sad to see the book end.

Summertime at the Ranch

Loved this book, especially Tuff, when he showed up at church and the Preacher let him stay. Another awesome book by Carolyn Brown

I have always been a fan of Carolyn Brown's sweet small-town romances. She is a go-to author for me. I enjoyed this story but did not realize it was so short. Still a lovely read and I can't wait to continue to read more by her. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review!

The Wedding Gift by Carolyn Brown is an anthology of three stories. I really enjoyed all three but my favorite one is The Wedding Gift. Reading about the pre-wedding jitters and the bride test, or better yet since both the bride and groom had pre-wedding challenges, the marriage test was quite entertaining. I liked the main characters in the three stories. Author Caroly Brown always gives her readers very likable main characters, This was a fun read.

This is an anthology of three books, The Wedding Gift, A Slow Dance Holiday, and Summertime on the Ranch. Each is a quick, enjoyable read.

In The Wedding Gift, Darla is having cold feet about her upcoming wedding. And then her ex shows up in town wanting her to leave with him. What’s a girl to do? She has a discussion with her grandmother and gets some good advice. Will she take it?

A Slow Dance Holiday has two strangers, Jorga and Cameron, being given equal shares in a bar in a very small Texas town. Both eagerly accept without knowing what they’re getting themselves into.

Summertime on the Ranch has Becca giving up on her dreams of becoming a country singer in Nashville and returning home to help care for her grandmother after an ankle injury and works in a local winery with hopes of maybe someday having one of her own. There’s also Sean, the rancher next door.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Wedding Gift is anthology that contains three novellas by Carolyn Brown.

The Wedding Gift begins a few weeks before a young couple are getting married. The bride is getting second thoughts as her old high school beau comes to town wanting to take her away. She gets advice from her wise grandmother.

A Slow Dance Holiday - has two strangers being given equal half of a bar in a small town in Texas by their grandparents. It’s is a sweet holiday romance.

Summertime on the Ranch has Becca who has been trying to make it as a singer in Nashville returning home. She needs to help her grandmother after an ankle injury. Of course there is a womanizing cowboy that may not be as bad as she thinks.

All three stories are cute and warm hearted with folksy wisdom. I only recently discovered Brown who has written for decades. My first book wasn’t so saccharine sweet as these stories. These stories never went beyond kissing. It was a nice quick read but won’t be memorable to me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC and I’m leaving a voluntary review.

I absolutely LOVE anything that Carolyn Brown writes. I tell everyone if she writes it I will be reading it! I swear she can do no wrong. This was such a cute book and a quick read since it was a short romance book. The grandma definitely stole the show. She had me laughing out loud! If you are looking for a quick sweet romance book then you will want to read this. Highly recommended!!

THE WEDDING GIFT is three stories gifted to us by Carolyn Brown who is a master of love and marriage tales. All Carolyn Brown books are designed to entertain us and leave us with a big smile on our face. THE WEDDING GIFT is no exception to that rule. Along with some endearing references to country song lyrics the characters in THE WEDDING GIFT are specifically created by this talented author to find a place in your heart.
THE WEDDING GIFT is about second thoughts. All marrying folk have them it seems and what matters is how you treat them. Do you let them bury themselves and create a chasm between you and your intended. Or do you face them down and recognize them for what they are. A brief moment of time where you worry about making this biggest leap of your life – choosing someone to spend the rest of your life with. Getting married should be a sensitive decision. The entire wedding thing can almost overshadow the marrying moment. In THE WEDDING GIFT Carolyn Brown shares the wisdom of a grandmother and grandfather who are celebrating their sixtieth wedding anniversary with some of the best – and silliest stories – to their beloved granddaughter Darla who is marrying her love Will in just a matter of weeks.
If I share those tales with you, it will ruin the joy of reading THE WEDDING GIFT.
THE WEDDING GIFT shares the joys of the events leading up to the actual wedding in a rather small-town setting. It seems as if most everyone in town is engaged in the wedding of Darla and Will. Both of their families are overjoyed at this coupling of two amazing folk. But it seems as if there is just a smidgen of doubt in the minds of the couple themselves. Pre-wedding jitters one could say. All handled with love and humor – the Carolyn Brown signature.
Included are two novellas sharing the topic of weddings with THE WEDDING GIFT. THE WEDDING GIFT was originally published in 2020. A Slow Dance Holiday published in 2020 and Summertime on the Ranch in 2021. Each one an absolute delight. Three Carolyn Brown stories for the price of one. Enjoy.

The Wedding Gift is a collection of three Carolyn Brown novellas. The first deals with jitters and doubts before the wedding when an old boyfriend suddenly comes back to town. This reader loves the way Ms. Brown writes about older characters. The scene about the girdle was so reminiscent of what this reviewer went through when sorority pledges began were required to wear that dreadful contraption at all times outside the dorm.

A Slow Dance Holiday tells the story of preacher’s daughter and a very sexy cowboy who become the half-owners of the Honky Tonk bar that only has one living area that they are having to share. The story concentrates on their first week in business together as Christmas approaches and they begin to get to know each other. It’s classic Carolyn Brown filled with innuendo, slow dances and hot kisses. Yummy!

Summertime on the Ranch. Dalton has been a player his entire dating life until he lays eyes on Becca who’s returned home to live with her granny after ten years trying to become a singer in Nashville. This is another delightful story filled with charm and country music that always tells a story as these two really get to know each other egged along by one meddling grandmother.

I voluntarily reviewed a ARC of the book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

This book is a collection of three heartwarming stories by Ms. Brown
The Wedding Gift tells of the love of a young couple and the close relationship the bride to be has with her grandmother. When the bride gets cold feet, grandma explains her own and the young lady decides on what she wants...bonus other women in the family tell their tales too, making it even more interesting. Loved it!!!
In A Slow Dance Holiday Jorja leaves Nashville for Mingus, Texas, not realizing her grandparents arranged her ‘situation’ as had Cam’s grandparents. Each expected a same sex business partner. Sweet romance.
Summertime On The Ranch gives us independent Becca, who was trying to make it as a singer in Nashville. She came to Terral, Oklahoma to help her grandmother after an ankle injury and stayed, finding her ‘bad boy’ cowboy was a keeper after banishing her doubts. Cute romance.
All three tales of loving grams helping their granddaughters find their loves. I highly recommend. I loved them all.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC gratis and offer my opinion in the same.

The Wedding Gift is a short story about a young woman who's nursing some doubts before getting married. Set in Texas, the story exsudes a very strong sense of southernness, and it is actually very immersive, all the more so if you listen to the audiobook at the same time. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the text and the voices to life, especially the grandmother. However, it is also imbued with religious references and it can become a bit overwhelming and repetitive at times. I thought the grandmother was the most interesting, fun character of the whole cast. That's where it all goes wrong for me. The rest of the characters almost all lacked nuances. Darla sounded immature and silly. Her fiancé was way too perfect to make the wedding jitters make sense. And the ex-boyfriend was such an arrogant entitled moron that it made the whole "test" concept fall flat for me. That guy is a walking red flag with no obvious redeeming qualities, but somehow she thinks sharing his life in Hollywood could be exciting? Anyway, I think the story had potential, but ultimately was too rushed and unrealistic to offer some genuinely believable character development.
