Wow, just wow! Ivy Smoak had written an incredible series. It is not my usual go to buy, it out excellent none the less. I'm read for book 7 to find out what happens next. Honestly, I have more questions than answers after book 6.

One thing I will always say about Ivy Smoaks books they are a fast read. I'm 6 books into this series and I'm like a lot of fans want to know the final to this story. That being said with this being the 6th book I felt like it was a filler book. It felt like a lot of dancing around to finally get to the moment at the end and to me that was a mess. I will put more thoughts under spoilers since this book isn't out yet and comes out November 10th. If your a fan of this series or like me at this point want to see the ending it will at least be a quick read.

<spoiler> Here is my spoiler section. So if you clicked this then you've read the story. My problem from the start of this series is Brooklyn is a very unlikable main character to me. From the start of this series she can never make up her mind and all the boys want her and she gets upset and goes to being like I think I could like him now and then Matt looks at her and she's torn. Now we fast forward and nothing has changed. She can't say NO to anyone. one person says something and she questions everything. Or believes them. After Miller got blown up and someone's trying to kill her and life with her father she just goes to strangers apartments no question asked (she doesn't know Penny) Also gets in a car and travels with Tanner and takes his house not questions asked. Yes we know they are good but she doesn't know these people. I've said the book where it shows her life with Miller was having her cake and eating it to. I didn't like that book. She comes back and she says she hates Matt doesn't want him he moved on (ya lady he thought you were dead and you never let him know other wise. You had a family with Miller. What's the difference) But we spend the whole book her dancing around Matt never seeing each other but all his friends have seen her and they don't tell him. Great friends. Till the very end they see each other she's jealous of her best friend runs away he sees her runs after her they have a quickie he's mad leaves and she's upset and says never again Matt. WTF WTF WTF?? Again this felt like a filler of a book nothing happen nothing has changed or moved the story along. I also hate when all the guys see her its like they all have to be like it took me so long to move on from you. YOU ALL NEVER DATED STOP.
I would of been fine with Matt dating Kennedy but after this book No. she tried to make them into something more and him wanting to marry her like that no. Matt can do a lot better then all of these people. OKay rant over. I just want to see how the next book ends the story I think book 7 is the last but I'm not 100% sure. Also Tanner and Nigel are the bright spots in this book. </spoiler>

Thank You NetGalley for this Audio Arc in exchange for my honest review.

That cliffhanger though…come on! In all actuality, I thought the author did a pretty good job of making this book readable outside of the series. I realize there are others that probably have more detail but I still was able to enjoy this one on its own. The ending was rough though.

🌀Synopsis
Brooklyn stayed away for 16 years. Some of those years she was unwillingly away but for most she willingly left. Now that her husband was murdered, it’s time to go back. It’s time to see her friends while avoiding the man that she loved since he obviously didn’t love her. Or it didn’t look that way when she had tried to come back and caught him with another woman.

Matt is doing his best to let Brooklyn go. She’s been gone for 16 years so it’s past time. Besides, he loves Kennedy now and he’s mostly sure of that. Well, that is until he sees Brooklyn again and the old flame flares immediately. But, she’s married?

Ivy Smoaks book 6 of the series Empire High does not disappoint!
A rollercoaster ride of the past 16 years comes to a breaking point for Brooklyn. Seeking answers to the pain she has been caused she must first confront who she believes is the worst of them all. Her Father. The web starts to unravel in Homecoming.
I am going to read the other books so I can get more in depth with what Brooklyn went through. This was a page turner of a book. Not wanting to put it down because I NEEDED to find out what happens next. You will for sure be on the edge of your seat!
The narrator was perfect for this book.novice kept me intrigued.

After 16 years, Brooklyn is back, but she’s not quite ready to see Matt. And Matt? Well, he just might be ready to move on.

The drama, the angst, the emotions, the soapiness, the antics of Nigel and Tanner, the CLIFFHANGER—GAH! Book 7 cannot come soon enough.

I listened to the audiobook version. I love when there are two narrators for a dual POV novel. With the combined narration from Connor Crais and Laurie West, I felt like I could close my eyes and see this playing out on a TV screen. And Crais’s voice is deliciously deep in this one. Given the circumstances at the beginning of the book, West’s portrayal of Brooklyn’s early chapters is understandably tense, so be prepared. Those chapters definitely raised my blood pressure and stress levels, but West’s tone and delivery does shift along with the emotions and content of the book. You won’t be feeling that constriction and thudding heart the entire time. Do brace yourself for West’s performance of Brooklyn’s son, though; those parts did make me cringe a bit.

All in all, I enjoyed this escape back to New York with the group from Empire High.

I received an advance copy from Dreamscape Media. All review opinions are my own.

I love this series SO much, but I kind of feel like it's being drug out at this point. This book was decent, but nothing really happens until about 90% of the way through the book.

This is not a spoiler if you've read the rest of the series - I just feel like nothing happened or changed much from the previous installment and it became very repetitive for me. Brooklyn was still holding onto things that happened in high school, nothing really crazy happened with her dad or Poppy, and she was obviously still very torn up about Miller. Most of the time, I was just internally screaming at Brooklyn to just tell Matt that she was alive already!

I still highly recommend this series as a whole and I really hope the next book gives it some redemption.

Thank you to Ivy Smoak, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the advanced audiobook in exchanged of my honest review.

There was so much going on in this book. Almost too much. While I found Nigel hilarious, that was about the peak of the experience. I partially blame the fact that this is my first experience with the Empire High crew and I may not know the entire back story to fully enjoy but this was just ok for me.

Thank you so much Netgalley and Dreamscape audio for my gifted early copy in exchange for a honest review.

I absolutely loved this one and so so sad it ended. I NEED the next book. I really liked Matchmaker and Runaway, but this was definitely my favorite. This had so many reunions and brought back old characters. I still love Tanner and Rob, and I am even more excited for The Society #thismeanswar. I love all of these characters, and I think everyone will really enjoy this book.
