Travis Brock sees many government secrets. He's the one that decides whether a secret can be let out to the public or if it needs to remain a secret. Travis has spent the last 18 months trying to find out who set his house on fire that ultimately killed his wife. Travis teams up with Adira Halprin to stop a major terrorist attack that just might cross paths with who killed Travis' wife.

Steven James always writes such suspenseful reads! This was no exception! I got so stressed a couple of times that I had to put the book down to calm my nerves! ha! There were many twists and turns throughout the story and it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering who was friend and who was foe. The ending had my mouth hanging open in surprise! Excellent story and I believe it is going to be a series so I will be looking forward to the next book!

With Broker of Lies, Steven James creates a terrorist threat story with unique characters. One of my favorite things of this story is that Travis Brock is not a detective or ex-military. He is an average Joe who steps up when the time comes. Nothing really special about him. But the skill that he does have is important to the solving of the terrorist plot. The heroine is a woman of many disguises. She has been trained to slip in and out of dangerous situations. She is brave and a little risky. For the plot, the first twenty percent of the novel is laying the groundwork for the character’s jobs and the background, so it is pretty boring. As a reader, I don’t think we needed all of that information. But once you reached past that part, then the action kicked into gear and the terrorist plot was woven through the story as the heroine and the hero tried to escape the ultimate destruction. Plot twist ends the story, so I wonder if there will be a second novel or not. Overall, Broker of Lies by Steven James is different than his widely-poplar Patrick Bowers series, but it does have plenty of action to keep readers flipping through the pages late into the night. I definitely want to see if there is a second book.

I received a complimentary copy of Broker of Lies by Steven James from Bethany House Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

This highly acclaimed, award-winning author, Steven James, strikes again, magnificently, in this rather exciting Christian mystery story. It's the first novel of James' that I've ever read as far as I can recall and it is such a masterpiece, I certainly hope to be able to read more of his work.

There is much "hush-hush," can't tell governement secrets that must be kept and not be redacted. An anti-nuke activist features in the mix to prove a point; who can trust whom?; Russians, a major fire and |"whodunit"; dead men, and then there's Travis Brock and Adira right in the thick of it all, trying to puzzle it all out in constant danger zone.

Very enjoyable reading although there were places in the narrative that were too detailed in technical explanations about nukes, guns, dirty bombs and such, for me. I confess to skimming over those spots to greater action. Those of military and government secret-keepers' backgrounds will readily relate, I believe. Other readers will get a definite buzz and zing out of it all too; at least, I did. A 5-Star, thumb's up from me to Steven James!

The author has another excellent story and, hopefully, a series ahead. As a red actor, Travis Brock, the protagonist puts all those black marks on documents released due to the Freedom of Information rules. He also has special memory skills that he puts to work as he attempts to break open a conspiracy involving nuclear power, big business, politicians, foreign powers, and activist organizations. He’s joined in his quest by an exceptional sidekick who just happens to be ex-CIA. Lots of twists, lots of action, and lots to keep the reader interested.

Broker of Lies by Steven James was a great political thriller.

So there is a little bit of everything for readers to enjoy here. Suspense, action and a little bit of romance...
I loved how the plot and characters bring such life to the story.
The story lines are believable and James does an amazing job of at making a gripping climax, and bringing us twists and turns from every direction.
Broker of Lies kel me intrigued and on my toes. Flipping my Kindle page's pretty quickly.
I couldn't have enjoyed it more if I wanted to.

BROKER OF LIES by STEVEN JAMES is a spine chilling political thriller, with some great characters (and of course some not so great) and a plot full of twists and turns. There is also a good Christian message as Travis Brock debates the difference between justice and vengeance, with relevant scriptures.
There are secrets, there is romance and also the dilemma of who to trust…..
Broker of Lies is a really great read and one I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre.
