I read exactly 2 chapters of this book and I’ve had enough. This is my first novel by Joshilyn Jackson and it may very well be my last. I’m not sure if Jackson has an autistic child but I pray to God that she doesn’t.

As the mother of an autistic child, I am beyond disgusted… and as I’ve said, I’ve literally only read 2 chapters. But that was enough for me. Jackson, if you aren’t the parent of an autistic child and feel compelled to put one in your novel, I would’ve hoped you’d do more research than this. And if you ARE the parent of an autistic child and THIS is how you treat them, you should be ashamed. Your child is different and you should change your way of thinking for them, not make them change themselves for you. Ew.

The way this woman treats her autistic child- tell her she’d buy her ice cream if she remembered her classmates names, making a rule to limit screen times until she made a in-person friend- DISGUSTING. Your perfect child doesn’t HAVE to be social. Autistics shouldn’t be forced to be social if they don’t want to be. And to give “prizes” for something they don’t want to do to trick them into doing it? I AM SO GROSSED OUT. Like, this woman went out of her way to adopt an autistic child and then treats her like a dog?

And if that wasn’t bad enough, the self-importance and self-obsession this woman has is too much. She leaves Cooper and her daughter to go shower because her current appearance was going to bother her child (?) and proceeded to not only wash but exfoliate, then did a “whole body skin routine”, blow out hair, and makeup to make herself the “mom that Honor needed now.” I’m just honestly at a loss here. She’s worried about a 15 calorie americano???? Freaking out about drinking a sugary drink???? Cooper orders pizza and instead of just saying thank you and moving on she has to say “I’m usually a better mother. I was going to make a healthy dinner.” As if ordering pizza sometimes is a crime? Holy hell.

I normally finish a book once I start it but this isn’t worth my time or energy. I’m not sure if I’ve ever hated a character this much. I’m already so sorry I wasted the time it took to read 2 chapters. And I’m sorry for this poor fictional autistic child.

I’m not even going to waste my time copying this to Goodreads because it’s not worth my time. Do better, Jackson.

"With My Little Eye" by Joshilyn Jackson was such a great thriller! I love when the reader is trying to figure out the mystery stalker at the same time as the protagonist. I also enjoy when there are multiple points of view in a story and this story did not disappoint. Being a fan of "Never Have I Ever", I knew I had to get my hands on this book and grateful I had the opportunity to receive and advanced copy from Netgalley.

2.5 stars. Joshilyn Jackson is an auto-read author for me. I don't even read the synopsis, if she wrote it, I read it. This one was so disappointing. I was hooked and intrigued at the beginning of the book, but then things just kind of got messy. I didn't feel the connection with the characters as I have in her other books. The ending was a let down as well.

This was my favorite thriller so far this year. All of the characters, even the bad ones, were so interesting to read about. I especially liked the character of Honor, the autistic child. She was a force to be reckoned with. I was turning pages very quickly with this one. I highly recommend it.

Thank you for this book from netgalley. This was my first book by this author. I received an arc but, it was hard for me to enjoy. The characters were not interesting, their was a lack of a plot. I finally finished this book but, it took to long and was not enjoyable.

Good premise for a book. Actress has a stalker and moves across the country to escape. Unfortunately, he follows her there. I had a hard time connecting with the characters in the book. The main character was fairly shallow…focusing on her career, diet, exercise. The other characters weren’t very developed. Good idea for a book but this book didn’t keep my attention

I was so excited for this book and I am still excited after I read it! Great read with lots of suspense and thrill, right up my alley. Joshilyn Jackson did a great job with the writing and making the characters so intense and perfect for this storyline. Must read!

So suspenseful. The character changes kept me intrigued because we only got a little bit of the story at a time.

This book is a whirlwind of multiple storylines, villains, twists, and characters. It feels overly busy, like cramming three novels into one. The protagonist, Meribel, moves to Georgia to escape her stalker but fails to realize that her move won't keep him away. The introduction of suspicious neighbors and romantic interests adds to the complexity. With one-dimensional characters and a rushed ending, the book falls short.

Meribel knows that fame comes with a price-and in this case the price is the creepy letters from a fan. However, the letters pick up in both intensity and very detailed accounts of what the sender plans to do to Meribel. After spending years in front of the camera Meribel has developed a unique ability where she can tell when someone is watching her. When an incredible opportunity for her career pops up in Atlanta she and her daughter move across the country in hopes for a new start and the chance to get away from the stalker they nicknamed Marker Man. However, things in Atlanta do not go as planned. The letters start again, Meribel's past is catching up from all sides and her new neighbor seems to have a keen interest in both her and her daughter-and when everyone collides Meribel has never been in more danger. Joshilyn Jackson's latest release is told from multiple viewpoints and will keep readers guessing throughout. The unique twists Jackson is known for are in no shortage in With My Little Eye-great read!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this Arc in exchange for my honest feedback.

3 👁️👁️👁️eyes for this stalkerish thriller

With my Little Eye by Joshilyn
Jackson is my first book by this author. It was a quick read and I wanted to find out what happened, however there were a lot of loose ends and unfinished storylines.

I loved that it took place in Atlanta, my hometown, and that it had some good twists and turns. However, to me it divided into two story arcs and they never reconnected, leaving some unresolved questions…and not in a “makes you really think about the ending” kind of way. More like a “why was that story line relevant?” kind of way.

Read this if you want a quick thriller, don’t mind a cross country stalker, and do not need your thrillers to be totally wrapped up at the end.

I wanted to DNF 10% in, and should’ve done that.

There’s literally nothing that builds towards the ending and then bang all of a sudden there’s finally actions in the last 30 pages.

I rarely give ratings under 3 but unfortunately this book is just not for me.

Thank you NetGalley and HarpersCollins for the ARC.

Meribel Mills is an actress who is moves from LA to her hometown in Georgia. She is single with an adopted daughter with autism. She is leaving LA for an acting job but also because she has a stalker. Marker Man, as he is called from the sick and twisted notes he sends. To write them, he uses those scented markers that we all wanted when we were kids.

I very much enjoyed the plot line. While this wasn’t a book that kept me on my toes, it was a steady burn and I was engaged throughout. Right toward the beginning, I thought I knew who Marker Man was but then it was obvious that i was wrong. When Meribel and her daughter move into their new apartment, this introduces some new suspects; Cooper, his on-off again girlfriend, Xena the homeless teen, and Cam her boyfriend from LA she broke up with when she moved but now who has come to GA.

Marker Man ends up finding Meribel. How he did is a bit murky, but he starts to send notes to her new place.

Marker Man was pretty tame in the grand scheme of things. He wasn’t the scariest nemesis to have because he was just sending letters. He had never made himself known. However, maybe that’s the scariest part that she was around him without knowing. There wasn’t any really any terrifying parts, but this one was a slow burn.

There is another story woven into this separate from Meribel and Marker Man. That story was eerie and a good addition. I won’t ago into detail as it would be a spoiler for other readers.
I really liked Honor, Meribels daughter. I don’t personally know anyone with autism and it was fascinating getting to know her.
I did not like that there was not an epilogue. I wanted know what happened with the girls and Meribel.

All in all, a great read.

Right at the beginning of the book, I thought, "Finally! She's back!" I've loved Joshilyn Jackson's early novels, but the last couple of left me disappointed. This one starts out like the old Jackson! Jackson is so great at writing characters - real characters! They are deep and flawed and whole. I really liked Meribel, a B list actress best known for a TV series from years ago, and her young teen daughter, Honor. They move across the country to take advantage of a new acting opportunity that comes just in time to get away from a stalker in LA getting a little too close. But has the stalker found them? Who can she trust? A little long in the middle, but overall a great read!

A BIG thank you to William Morrow and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this one!

I tried to like this one, I really did, but I just couldn't get into it. The pacing was off. The characters didn't excite me, and ultimately I really just didn't care what happened. DNF at 50%

AHH! I am so thankful to Joshilyn Jackson, William Morrow, NetGalley, and so many more for sending me both a physical copy and digital access to this twisty thriller before publication day which is April 25, 2023.

I don't recommend reading this book at night, or alone in the dark. Maybe it's just my own fears, but this book definitely left me feeling like I was being watched.

This book is vivid, filled with creepy vibes, and leaves you suspicious of every character/man that Meribel has been in contact with. It's 100% thriller. It took me several days to read my way through because I couldn't read it at night - I'm a chicken, I admit it! But I also couldn't stop - I had to have a resolution.

And the scented markers... That took me back to my own childhood.

With My Little Eye is the latest thriller from Joshilyn Jackson. This is a suspenseful stalker story following an actress, best known for playing a part in a teen show many years ago, who moves across the country to distance herself from the man who is hounding and harassing her. He utilizes letters to victimize her with increasing nastiness and vulgarity, all dawn in marker, effectively giving him the moniker Marker Man. After moving across the country Meribel feels as if she’s being watched. How could the Marker Man have found her? Could it possibly be her ex who still lives in the area? Every man she comes across is suspect, each one perceived as a threat.

There are multiple points of view in this thriller and quite a few plot lines to keep up with. There also seems to be an excessive amount of extraneous information shared that doesn’t really contribute to the plot. The characters can quite immature and even cringy at points, aside from the intriguing Honor, Meribel’s adopted teenage daughter who is on the spectrum.

This story has a slow build-up, before it really kicks into gear. It is rather unbelievable, but does raise some interesting, thought-provoking points and the latter half of the story is much more engaging than the beginning. It will keep you guessing and there are predictably some unseen twists at the end, which is always fun. Though I’ve enjoyed Ms. Jackson’s previous books, and will continue to read her thrillers, this one wasn’t a favorite.
