Honestly I will read anything by C.A. Rene so I feel like this is an impartial review. Haha. 10/10 recommend!

Prepare to be captivated by "Dragon Slayer" by C.A. Rene, a dark and gripping tale of vengeance that will leave you craving more. From the very beginning, the author sets the stage for an enthralling journey, dropping hints and clues that will completely twist your expectations. It's a thrilling rollercoaster ride that I absolutely loved!

Genevieve, our protagonist, is a well-rounded character with depth and complexity. When we first meet her, she exudes a certain naivety and a pampered demeanor, but her sass and inner strength shine through from time to time. Throughout the story, she's thrust into impossible situations, betrayed by those she trusted the most, and repeatedly stabbed in the back. Yet, she perseveres, determined to uncover the truth and seek justice. It's impossible not to root for her as she navigates this treacherous world.

The storytelling in "Dragon Slayer" is rough in the best way possible. We get multiple points of view, not just Genevieve's, which makes it challenging to discern who to trust, who might become a love interest, and who will betray her in the worst moment. It adds an extra layer of intrigue and keeps you on the edge of your seat, unable to predict the twists and turns that lie ahead.

Be prepared for a cliffhanger ending that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment. While it's not excruciating, it definitely leaves you hungry for more. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Genevieve's evolution throughout the story is remarkable. She starts off as the privileged daughter of the Steel Dragons MC President, living a life of luxury. But when jealousy rears its ugly head and secrets are revealed, she finds herself forced to work with someone she once perceived as an enemy. Together, they form an unlikely alliance, and Genevieve's world is turned upside down. She emerges as a force to be reckoned with, shedding her pampered princess persona to become the formidable dragon slayer she was always meant to be.

I devoured "Dragon Slayer" in one sitting. C.A. Rene has once again proven her talent for crafting dark, twisted, and steamy stories that keep you hooked until the very end. She has certainly increased the fangirl meter in me! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us in book two. Please don't keep us waiting too long, C.A., because I need more of Genevieve's enthralling revenge.

If you're a fan of motorcycle club stories, this book is an absolute must-read. It's a wild ride filled with intrigue, danger, and passion. I highly recommend "Dragon Slayer" to all fans of gripping and addictive storytelling. You won't be able to put it down!

It was a little different from my usual read but overall I enjoyed it. It had plot, character depth, decent world building and enough action to keep the story moving.

I finished reading Dragon Slayer just 2 days ago. I have mixed feelings about it. Writing style - ok. Good idea for story... But... Not my 'cup of tea' if I can use this expression. I understand strong language, but too much violence and sex...

A quick-paced book, with a nice plot for the theme the author chose.
Well-written characters, some of them making you question your taste in men (Yes, I'm looking at Malik).
The spicy scenes were great.
If you like 'Sons Of Anarchy' or its theme and you don't mind misogyny and spice in your book, this one is for you.

I can't wait for the next one!

T.W. : Attempt Murder, Mentions of Rape (no details of the rape).

Definitely not for the faint of heart! Dragon Slayer is intense, erotic and intriguing. For a MC style novel this had a solid plot line and a great cast of characters. The relationship aspect was there, though rather toxic in my personal opinion.

Recommended for those 18+. Dragon Slayer was published late October 2022. Thank you to BooksGoSocial, NetGalley and the author for the advanced reader's copy. All thoughts an opinions are my own.

Although the title is catchy, I don't really know what to think of this book.
I just know that I didn't get hooked on the different characters, nor on the story
the only one who finds "favor" in my eyes is the doctor who pulls the heroine out of the rat hole she's been in for a long time.
I won't read the sequel

Honest to God I don’t know why I kept reading this for so long. I was hoping for this to get better but although I’m here for a woman getting stronger and more independent, I couldn’t read more.
Most of the time I was confused. I was the embodiment of that meme of the woman full of math symbols around her, looking utterly confused. Because, what the hell was that?
I’m not one to cringe over taboo things. I’ve read far worse and still will. But, I don’t even know how to describe how I’m feeling about this, truly.
There was potential, but you really did miss that window of opportunity…

DNF @ 11%

Honestly, I requested this book after reading the synopsis. It seemed really interesting. I felt like Genevieve would be a strong badass female protagonist. While I have no doubt that she will be just that after going through some major shits in her life, I just could not get past that how much I already disliked Quinton and Genevieve's brother. Not to mention I had no idea about the reverse harem part. There were some moments with one of his regular pussy, his words not mine. I liked Laith more. Oh do not get me wrong, I love a dark gritty romance, but I've already ruined my mood with the characters. The main breaking point was Quinton fucking another woman. Um, ew! I was mostly disgusted with the vivid details. I did not need to know that. I know he and Genevieve were not a couple but it was still a dealbreaker for me. Ugh! And I can not force myself to read something I know I am not gonna like further. I've learned my lesson and I learned to trust my instinct.

This book was phenomenal, I had so much intrigue with the characters that it was hard to put down. The storyline was solid and had me on the edge of my seat, while the characters had a lot of growth. I cannot wait to continue this series!!!!!

This book was not my favorite; the sexism and misogyny and violence was off the charts. I feel like the author could have toned down the amount of gratuitous scenes of humiliation and degradation depicted. The main female character had to endure so much trauma and grief and betrayal; it was torture to read about. I feel that authors can speak about torturous, brutal experiences without exploiting the nature of brutality and malice or lawlessness just for the sake of it. Truly, I wanted to DNF from the first chapter and I skipped ahead and it never got better.

Couldn’t put it down, it’s not for the faint of heart. Geni is the President of the dragon slayers MC daughter, when her step brother is made vice- president he expects to move up, when he over hears a conversation, that changes his life and Genni’s to, not necessarily for the good.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

4.75/5*

Plot 5/5 | Characters 4.75/5 | Romance 1/5 | Spice 5/5 | Writing 5/5

Holy Hell! What a ride! My entire life disappeared as I got sucked into one of the best MC books, I have ever read. Don't say I didn't warn you when your laundry and dishes pile up and your nights turn to morning when this book engulfs you. This is my first C.A. Rene novel and I wasn't sure what to expect but I am so happy that I picked it up. The reader is sucked into the dark and delicious world of motorcycle clubs, vendettas, grudges, backstabbing, secrets, lies, brutality and, lots and lots steamy skin-on-skin. The plot was suspenseful, exciting and although there were a couple predictable moments, there were many surprises and the book leaves off with a fantastic cliff hanger. It was less of a "WTF just happened?!," cliff-hanger and more like a " HELL YEA! I can't wait for the next book!" ending.

The reader follows Genni through her growth and life as an MC princess. Her character starts out as so naive and a little dumb but we see her grow (by literally go through hell and back) and become the strong leading FMC badass she was always meant to be. Loved her by the end.

I loved the multiple POV so we also get a glimpse into the opinions of the males that come in and out of her life. There are many love attractions for her and the only reason I am not giving this novel the full 5* is because I am not a huge fan of insta-love and there seems to be a little too much of that going around. With certain characters, it is understandable but literally almost ever male she meets ( save he father), wants to get down and dirty with her and most want to pledge their life to her- and for me, that is just a tad bit too unrealistic. Still, that didn't prevent me from loving the hell out of this book and still rounding up to 5*. As for the males, *fanning myself* I do declare they are yummy! Give me Malik with a side of Diego any day!!

If you enjoy and motorcycle club novels that are both brutal and delicious, this is the book for you.

* Thanks so much to Netgalley for giving me a free ARC of this book. My review and opinions are freely given and entirely my own.*

Holy crap this story was gorgeous. The characters were beautiful and the plot was deep, even though it was short. Just loved it!

I really liked this book, it’s a great intro into the world that i can only describe as: if Hades Hangmen series collided with Unsainted series in one epic MC plot with step-brother/brother’s best friend.

The plot was super interesting to me because I couldn’t predict any of the twists or what the build up was leading to which gave me major KV Rose vibes and I’m a sucker for anything she writes. I think the future of these characters are bright especially because of the mystery created here and hopefully the world will build with them when their stories end.

I think the relationship between Jaeger and Genni was so dynamic and totally unexpected and by far the best thing about this book even if the relationship was toxic. I’m never a fan of love triangles but especially when I have a clear ship I’m rooting for and the male mc in my ship is broody and dangerous and toxic. Que Maverick and Eli (again anything KV writes I eat up). So naturally I responded most to Jaegar.

Genni was so relatable throughout the story and honestly one of my favorite female characters I’ve read about in a while. Her thoughts felt real and consistent throughout the story she didn’t have to bend out of character for fit the plot.

The plot itself felt thought out which is sometimes rare for dark romance but I think C.A. Rene definitely planned the plot and has a future in mind for the story.

If I had to pick my favorite moments they’d be when Jaegar acknowledged how much Genni annoyed him but how much he loved her like a little sister…and even a little more. (This trope is one of my favorites and it served in Dragon Slayer)
