This is a very simple guide to quick embroidery that's not too complicated. Perfect for beginners, but more advanced stitchers may find this too simple.

That you NetGalley for the ARC! This book was such a good tutorial guide for embroidering TONS of things! The designs were well illustrated and the how to sections were easy to follow. As someone how has done maybe one or two embroidery projects, it made me feel like I could add these embellishments to anything! They are also are well sorted and organized through the book in themes which make it very helpful to find what you’re looking for.

How to Embroider Almost Every Cute Thing: A Sourcebook of 550 Motifs + Beginner Stitch Tutorials by Nihon Vogue includes 550 embroidery motifs for just about everything you could ever want to depict with needle and thread. From cheeseburgers and chihuahuas to earmuffs and exercise equipment, among the many charming motifs are flowers, food, animals, clothing, vehicles, sports and hobbies, letters, numbers, and decorative designs from Japan’s leading embroidery artists. Use the motifs to embellish t-shirts, socks, bags, table linens, and more! What you’ll find inside includes finished stitched examples, stitch guides templates for all the motifs, and essential step-by-step tutorials for key stitches and techniques.

How to Embroider Almost Every Cute Thing: A Sourcebook of 550 Motifs + Beginner Stitch Tutorials offers readers exactly what the title promises, a wide variety of embroidery motifs with instructions and valuable information about getting your project done the way you envision it. I thought the book was well organized and easy to navigate to find exactly the pattern or bit of instruction that you are looking for. The only complaint I had is that I would have liked the stich guides to be a little bigger, some of the little details felt crowded and hard to read, but that is more on me and my eye sight that the book. think the best part about this is that it gives readers the inspiration to make things their own, and a solid starting point in creating their own pieces or embellishments.

This work begins with pictures of the various collections of the embroidery patterns in the book. I liked seeing all of them in one spot and they were numbered to make it easy to find their instructions in the book. The available patterns ranged from zodiac animals to breakfast foods to folk art flowers to border designs. They also included a flower alphabet and a food alphabet. In total, there ended up being 550 unique little patterns included in this book. Detailed information about the tools required as well as instructions for certain techniques (e.g., using chalk transfer paper) were also provided.

In my eBook copy, the patterns were all distorted by being noticeably elongated. This makes them unusable for tracing, which you’re supposed to be able to do. Unfortunately, that was the whole point of this book – having patterns to trace and embroider. This is the only reason I’m detracting stars from my rating as the instructions and explanations were all clear. Overall, I do recommend this work, but not currently as the eBook version unless they make some formatting changes. My thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for allowing me to read and review this wok. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I started embroiding only a couple of months ago, so definitely a rank beginner, but this was quite easy to follow. It lists colour pictures of the finished designs in the first section, followed by some pages on each of the stitching styles and some 'inspiration' pages on where you might like to use them. Then the last section is black and white images of the same designs in the first section, with information about which stitches and how many threads, and what DMC colours are needed. Only thing missing I think is an instruction of what order to stitch the design, as some are complex and its hard to think where to start.

All round, a very good guide, some really cute designs from a collection of artists and theres some i definitely want to try.

This is such a cute book with simple yet fun designs! I'm very excited to try them out on some mini hoops I have. This book is perfect for beginners wanting to test out different stiches on a sampler or advanced embroiderers looking for cute crafty gift ideas.

Packed with cute things to embroider, this does exactly what it says on the tin - I was a little disappointed in the structure, though - it felt like a lot of flipping back and forth to find the image of what I wanted and then the pattern. Overall, very helpful, but sometimes a little awkward in terms of ergonomics!

This book is great! I always want to spice up my clothes/dishcloths/etc, with little motifs, but I never know what to put on, but this book has an endless amount of ideas, with exactly what stitches to use on each one! The part in the beginning had really clear pictures, and I liked how the author put a list of other embroidery influencers to follow at the end of the book.

This book is gorgeous!!! I literally now want to embroider all the things with all the things! I’ve actually been wondering if buying a plain white tablecloth and covering it in adorable icons is a crazy idea or an eminently sensible one!
No hon Vogue begins right at the very beginning with a run down on the equipment needed for freehand embroidery, how to transfer the designs, how to do basic stitches and then moves on to the designs helpfully adding the DMC number of each colour used in the example photos in case you want to recreate a design exactly.
I also loved that at the end was a list of stitchy people to follow on Instagram for further inspiration.

A charming book for beginners! I like that the author goes over how to do each stitch, including how to start and end a project. All of the projects use basic stitches. I liked that there were photos of each item's appearance and then how to make it. I would have benefitted from the diagrams for each idea being a bit bigger.

As someone who has been interested in learning how to embroider but is intimidated by lager, more complex patterns this book was so inspiring! I love the idea of being able to work on one tiny little cute design at a time as I learn. I love that the patterns include the stitch instructions but also a blank version of the same pattern to make tracing easier. The section going through the types of stitches is also super useful if you're just starting out!

This embroidery book is true to its word, it's cute! These small icon like embroidery motifs are perfect for making simple, everyday items better. Boring t-shirt? Handkerchief? Bag? Socks? Not anymore with this book! While I don't feel it's for the new beginner, an advanced beginner or above could definitely use this book to spiff up whatever they wanted.

I received this e-book ARC through Net Galley from Rockport Publishers, an imprint of The Quarto Group, in exchange for a truthful review.

This title had photos of 550 "cute things" embroidered in color, with some example finished projects included for inspiration.
The "cute things" are grouped into adorable categories, like "Fairytale animals" and "Food Alphabets".
Included were sections ideal for beginners including:
- how to transfer designs
- tools required
- basic stitches

Very concise short pattern directions detailing floss color, number of strands and stiches to use. are included for each item.

My favorite pattern so far is #222 in the "Animal Friends" category: a teeny panda bear sitting atop a croissant! How cute! I can't wait to incorporate many of these designs on to various items.

Many thanks to Quarry Books and Nihon Vogue for the advanced copy of How to Embroider Almost Every Cute Thing via NetGalley, in return for my honest and unbiased review. Quick note: I don’t recap plots in my reviews, as it’s easy enough to read the book’s synopsis and blurbs, I purely focus on my feelings & opinions of how the books makes me feel.

This book really does contain so many cute things. It features a large range of everyday objects, animals, flora & fauna, sporting items & themes, food, fruits & vegetables, animals, people, alphabets and borders.

It is clearly split into sections, opening with colourful, clear pictures of each design, in categories. The picture is of the actual embroidered design, rather than an illustration. The next section is an inspiration gallery, showing the designs on various items of clothing and accessories, with page numbers for where to find each design. Following this is a section detailing tools and materials, with comprehensive explanations of each item’s use.

The ’getting started’ section details a step-by-step instruction on how to embroider the designs. This includes the various stitch types, which are described in each embroidery design in the final section: ‘Assorted Patterns’. This section consists of detailed diagrams of the different stitch types that make up the designs on the left-hand-side, and a clean line drawing of the design, ready for copying on to your material, on the right-hand-side of the book.

What I really like is that the embroidery artists who have been featured in the book are profiled on the last page. As well as a short bio, it states the pages their work can be seen on and their Instagram handle, so that they can be found and contacted.

Overall, I really liked this book and the breadth of designs it offered. As a complete novice, I found the explanations of how to do the individual stitches relatively straightforward. However, I would say that the designs are quite difficult to work out as they are quite small, especially when they involve multiple different stitch types, combined and layered together. It would have been better for a novice like me if there had been a page per design.

Recently, my daughters and I have found a love for embroidery so I couldn’t wait to read through this book. In fact, I bought a copy after reading the ARC because I found the book so resourceful.

This book is full of helpful information needed for beginners such as tools needed and how to use them, how to start and finish a stitch, and how to make the basic embroidery stitches with step-by-step instructions including pictures. The book also includes the patterns for each design with the floss number for easy replication.

I can’t wait to use the patterns to spruce up tea towels or pillowcases and make Christmas ornaments for my tree!

This book would make a great gift for anyone looking for cute embroidery patterns!

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This is such a fun book of cute and adorable embroidery motifs. Nihon Vogue has put together an assortment of items, animals, and people that can be embroidered quickly. For those that don't know how to embroider by hand, there are detailed instructions that you can follow. Since these are small motifs, it is a perfect beginners guide to learning how to embroider. I highly recommend this book for all that love to embroider. There are lots of different projects that can be done with these.

Thank you #NetGalley and #QuarryBooks for sending me the ebook to read and review.

This book is just too too cute! I think these little motifs are just too adorable. And there's something for every possible occasion or event! One of my biggest issues is actually trying to decide on which one to try my hand at first.

I'm not a beginner to needlework (I cross stitch) but I'm a beginner to embroidery. I found the directions on how to start and finish difficult understand, despite reading it over and over again. I wish this book came with links to a video demonstrating some of these techniques to better understand it. I've tried googling "how to start and finish embroidery stitches" but they use techniques not mentioned in this book, so I'm apprehensive to actually start.

I do like to thumb through this and imagine all the designs I'll do, but as a beginner this seems a little too advanced for me. So perhaps people who are intermediate will get more mileage out of this book.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing an eARC for me in exchange for an honest review.
