Loving the Wolf by Paige Tyler
SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #14. Paranormal wolf shifter romance. Can be read as a stand-alone romance but better if a few of the first series books have been read for background.
Trevor fell for Jenna when she was in Dallas to get help from her brother. He takes some vacation time to travel to Los Angeles, where Jenna lives to visit and confirm to himself, that she is “The One” fated mate for him. While he’s in LA, the creatures that took Jenna’s sister ten years ago, resurface and kidnap more people from Skid Row. Trevor, Jenna, and several of his pack mates from Dallas go on the hunt for the ghouls.

Fast moving adventure with danger, and passion and family healing. Yep, these books are fun and campy but also tend to have family dynamics and friendships at the core. Oh, and drama because when a werewolf finds his mate, he suddenly doubts his worthiness of her love. He’s a SWAT member, and kind and generous and a hero. Silly werewolf.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. This is a must read author for me with a guaranteed swoon-worthy HEA.

Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the chance to read Loving the wolf (SWAT #14) by Paige Tyler. After meeting each other in The wolf is mine, Trevor heads off to LA to see if Jenna is really The One for him. Unfortunately, Jenna is the sister of Trevor's packmate Connor, who is not thrilled that Trevor wants to get close to Jenna. When Jenna and Trevor come across the supernatural creature that Jenna saw kidnap her sister, Trevor has no choice but to call his pack for help. 10 years ago, no one believed Jenna when she told her brother, parents and the police the creature that kidnapped Hannah. Now, it is back kidnapping other people off the street. Can they find Hannah?
This was a fast and fun read. As with the other books in the series, there is lots of action, suspense and sizzling romance! This could be read as a standalone, but you get lots of background reading the series in order.

This book has a non-traditional take on werewolves and includes other paranormal creatures. Trevor is sure that his SWAT buddy's younger sister Jenna is his Fated Mate and wants to spend time with her to confirm his suspicions. During this trip, he witnesses a homeless person almost get nabbed and dragged down the gutter by some unknown creature. The author does a good job incorporating other storylines, such as Jenna witnessing her sister's abduction years ago, dealing with family trauma etc. It is a good mix of romance with action, suspense, and family ties.

I LOVE JENNA! She has the coolest job on the planet. She survived tragedy and came out stronger. Trevor is adorably male. Not perfect but perfect for Jenna. I loved this fast-paced romantic suspense.

To rescue the kidnapped sister of his human soul mate, a magnificent SWAT team werewolf must seek help from his team to crawl through narrow underground tunnels. Author Paige Tyler's world-building takes readers outside Dallas and into Los Angeles, 300 feet underground. Fierce paranormal creatures have terrorized the city.

I was caught up in the sexy and gentle romance between Tyler and Jenna. I wouldn't have guessed if I hadn't known before I read it that it was number 14 in the series. It stands alone. The characters were real to me. I enjoyed how gentle Trevor is with Jenny, especially since he knows how timid and isolated she has been since her sister was taken. I liked everything about this story. Try as I might, I can't think of anything negative.

The author's web page, http://www.paigetylertheauthor.com) states that Tyler "pursues her passion and writes books about hunky alpha males and the kick-butt heroines who fall in love with them." Yes, she certainly does. I thank NetGalley and the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca, for giving me the e-ARC (electronic-advance review copy). The opinions are voluntary and my own.

"Loving the Wolf" is a paranormal werewolves and shifters romance, a sci-fi/fantasy action-packed romance, a werewolf and shifter thriller, and a werewolf and shifters suspense story. I recommend it to fans of these types.

Warning: There is a breathtaking moment when several rescuers are trapped in small spaces. Readers who might be too affected by that should skip this book.

I started Paige Tyler's 'Loving the Wolf' early on, then put it down for a myriad of reasons but when I hunkered down one afternoon to read it, it was actually an enjoyable (and fast) read with its speedy pacing, action-packed scenes and characters who don't stray far from whom they're supposed to be.

Every book is Tyler's take on the whole SWAT werewolf team finding his soulmate, in which the process becomes a repetitive act of: sniffing a soulmate's signature scent, finding that inexplicable connection, then confessing his true status as a wolf which fighting the baddies. The result? HEAs all around, more conveniently so because the werewolf's ability does inevitably save a damsel in distress.

But Tyler could be forgiven for sticking to this particular protocol; for a while I'd thought it had become a 'same story, different names' series but the introduction of a slew of paranormal creatures and supporting human characters has given Tyler a huge range of situations and plots bunnies to tweak. And that is something I'm enjoying immensely as I go through each book as it comes out, even if 'Loving the Wolf' is a lupine version of wolf-meets-teammate's-sister with lots of gnashing of teeth and noisy, object-heaving fights all around.

I couldn't really find fault with Trevor McCall or Jenna Malone--both seemed equally into each other and their attraction/devotion to each other as solid as when they first met, only that their conclusion, like many other pairs before them, seemed to come as an abrupt and bruised HEA before the author's acknowledgement page comes up.

That said, it's great fun to go through and a honking cinematic ride from start to end.

LOVED THE STORY! Paige was back on her game with this installment of the SWAT series. This story picks up a month after Connor told his sister that she was crazy - this chasing her to Trevor's arms, Trevor flies to LA to see if the connection he felt with Jena is as strong as he thinks - if she might be his soul mate. Trevor is forced to lie to his pack mates about where he is going to keep peace with Connor.

Jena and Trevor go site seeing and then decide to eat at a restaurant close to where Jena last saw her sister Hannah. Little did he know that he would be saving someone from being snatched by GOULS. Trevor realizes he needs his [ack mate to pack up and come to LA to investigate the recent disappearances of homeless people from skid row.

From this point of the story until the end is non-stop action.

another good installment in the series with plenty of action, humor and romance. The author mixes things up a little by moving the story out of Dallas and to LA as well as having Jenna having some awareness (if no real knowledge/understanding of the vastness) of the supernatural world. Of course, the SWAT team's understanding of that vastness keeps growing as well. The enemy in this story is one that was briefly introduced in the authors related series (STAT) & while Jenna was introduced in the last book (her brother Connor's story), this story still works fairly well on its own. Jenna is estranged from her family due to events around her sister's disappearance when she was young. Big brother's overprotective, overbearing idiocy doesn't help either. She's never given up on finding her sister and a recent possible near run in has made Jenna even more determined in her search. Trevor thinks Jenna may be "the one" for him and has no intention of letting big brother & any "bro code" interfere with determining if she is for sure. So he heads out to LA on vacation to spend time with Jenna and for them to see just where their relationship maybe heading. Of course, things do not go smoothly and the past, present and future collide and the hunt for answers entwine. As secrets and fears are revealed and answers found will with happiness or heartache be the final result.

Paige Tyler keeps on delivering. Book 14 already! Love her take on the paranormal world. All the supernaturals with different twists that make it fresh and new. I enjoyed the reference to her STAT series (be still my heart). Jenna is Connors sister. Connor is Trevors packmate and they are both Werewolfs. Jenna and Trevor met in book 13, after Connor basically decimates her with words - again. Trevor flys out to L.A. per Jenna's invitation and it is action, suspense, creepy supernaturals, a supernatural club in LA where they enlist Divina's help, homelessness, family angst and so much more! Secrets, romance and HEA. Win! Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Lovingthewolf #Fatedmates #Paigetyler #sourcebookscasablanca #netgalley

Once again, Paige Tyler brings readers another wonderfully executed story. In Loving the Wolf , romance, action, and suspense fill the fourteenth book in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team paranormal romantic suspense series. Set in contemporary times and mainly in Los Angeles County in California, this novel features SWAT werewolf Trevor McCall and Jenna Malone. Jenna is the younger sister of Trevor’s friend and fellow SWAT werewolf Connor Malone.

Jenna and Trevor met during the last book in the series and they connected, spending time talking and getting to know each other. When Jenna invites him to California for a visit, he accepts, but doesn’t tell Connor. Trevor suspects Jenna is his fated mate. However, there’s something hiding in California that is dangerous, and Jenna is in the middle of it.

Art has been Jenna’s coping mechanism since she experienced a traumatic event when she was a teen. She works in the movie industry doing a little glamour makeup, but mainly creating monsters for shows. She also draws and sculpts the things in her head. Abandoned by her family, she has made a life for herself with friends she works with and those she encounters during her days. She is also helping the unhoused by providing meals and trying to get them jobs. Trevor is warm, welcoming, a great listener, and protective. They are strongly attracted to each other, but is she Trevor’s fated mate? Characters from previous books in the series make appearances, but the focus is on Jenna and Trevor.

It is a riveting story with protagonists that I liked and cheered on as their efforts to resolve the hidden danger increases. I’m being deliberately vague here to avoid spoilers. It held my attention fully and contained the elements that I love in this genre of books. It delivers on escapism through attraction, friendship, family, romance, and love. At the same time, it also tackles the serious issues of kidnappings, family dynamics, guilt, friendship, and the unhoused. There is one steamy scene just after the halfway point in the book.

Overall, this book is emotionally-charged, full of danger, and intense; with a terrific romance and nonstop action. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you enjoy thrilling paranormal romantic suspense novels, then I recommend you check out this series. There is enough background that this novel can be read as a standalone, but the series is best read in order.

SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Paige Tyler provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via Net Galley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set for May 09, 2023.

Another winner by Ms. Tyler, Loving the Wolf delves more into the paranormal world where there is more than just the Big Bad Wolf. Trevor believes he has found his One. It happens to be his best friend's sister which gets messy. I truthfully never understood the big brother having issues with their best friend dating a younger sister conflict, but apparently that is a thing. It is a horrid thing in this book, so be aware those who loved Connor in the last book, you might change your mind here. This book can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading all the books in this series.

There are so many things going on in this book. This is a page turner and I read this all in one sitting. First of all, Jenna comes off looking a bit flaky in a previous book. Seeing her in this book, really goes to show that there are two sides to every story. I like the Jenna I'm seeing her. Plus her job as a special effects creator for monster costumes in movies is fantastic. What she does to help out homeless is even better. I love this character from head to toe. It does not surprise me that Trevor finds everything about her appealing. She is pretty amazing.

Second of all, who is this Connor? This is not the caring guy who worried about his missing cat. This is not the guy who goes all out to help his teams. This is not the guy who would die to help others out. This Connor is selfish and so cruel. I am shocked by how he treats his sister. Honestly, when picking a mate, watch how they treat their family. Because this is what they will start doing to you. If they take their family members for granted or make them feel worthless, that will be you soon. I am appalled by the Connor I see here. Ms. Tyler does explain why we see such a different Connor. It does not matter to me. He is toxic and I no longer like him.

Third, the paranormal species in this story are crazy scary. I have never seen this specific paranormal species depicted in this manner. Props to Ms. Tyler for creating a different interpretation. Their entire civilization gives me a circa 1987 Beauty and the Beast TV series vibe but in the worst way possible. How this civilization all ties together to Jeanna and Connor's traumatic past is pretty nifty. I loved this plot.

Lastly, Trevor and Jenna's interactions are just adorable. I love their interactions. Their fears and how they overcome them to learn more about each other is heartwarming. This is a lovely paranormal romance recommended to readers who enjoy a bit of suspense and fated mate themes.

Loving the Wolf: A Fated Mates Romance (SWAT, 14) by Paige Tyler
I love this series and Jenna and Trevor's story was fantastic. She is Connor's younger sister and Trevor is his pack mate and SWAT member. There is angst, paranormal monsters, secrets, family problems, danger, catching up with friends and making new ones, some laughs, tears, lots of steam all getting us to a HEA. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I really enjoy this series and Loving the Wolf was just a great as the others before it. Jenna was considered the crazy or "seeing things" from the trauma she endured as a teenager when her sister was kidnapped. Nobody believed her when she explained what she saw until Trevor. Jenna travels to visit her brother hoping to get his help but instead meets his friend Trevor who not only instantly attracted to her but protects her from her brothers hurtful words. Scary ghouls make an appearance and everything seems to fall into place very Jenna and Trevor. Exciting story and can't wait to ready more.

Loved The Storyline!

A brilliant shifter read full of love, romance, action packed, suspense, a great storyline which keeps you turning the pages. I love this SWAT team and there many characters.

This time they are fighting ghouls all the while Trevor and Jenna are getting to know each other. Trevor knew she was ‘The One’ but he had lots of secrets he couldn’t reveal to her but his secrets couldn’t stay hidden forever!

Sit back and enjoy this really brilliant storyline which will keep you engrossed until the very end.

Highly recommended and I cannot wait for the next in the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was my first Paige Tyler book, and I really enjoyed it! I loved the subtle differences that she incorporated into the wolf/mate relationship. I also loved that this was not your typical werewolf supernatural book. This book read like a mystery/ suspense, former military book with a supernatural edge, and I loved it! Trevor and Jenna were absolutely perfect together. I’m so glad that Jenna was written as a strong female lead that was still sweet and caring, but didn’t collapse and run in fear from Trevor’s identity. And Trevor was quietly strong and protective of Jenna without being a jerk about it. Overall this book was really well written, and the characters complimented each other fantastically! Will definitely read this author’s other books, and highly recommend this one.

Easy to read, entertaining. Not bad at all. If you like paranormal stuff with a side of romance, try this book.

This is an engrossing tale of a traumatized young Jenna taking on the task of finding her kidnapped sister. Trevor is soon helping with the hunt and finding the ghouls is an eye opening experience. I loved the story and the ending is perfect.

The adventure continues with the crew at Dallas SWAT as they search for their ONE. The book takes the reader outside of Dallas and into Los Angles. This book introduces new paranormal beings into the universe and features Trevor and Conner’s sister Jenna as they search the LA underground to find out what happened to Conner and Jenna’s missing sister and more recent missing persons.

I always look forward to Paige Tyler’s newest release and revisiting this fun, entertaining paranormal romance series. The whole series is enjoyable and this is no exception. While not necessary to read the whole series before jumping in, I would highly recommend reading the previous book in the series, The Wolf is Mine, first as the stories are closely linked. Overall, another great installment in the series - can’t wait for the next!

A good story overall, a wolf shifter and a damsel in distress, what is not to like? Not sure why though, as I generally like this author and her stories, but struggled at times to stay invested in these characters. Perhaps being 60 instead of 30? Would still recommend, but wasn't my favorite.

I really enjoyed Trevor and Jenna's story although Connor, Jenna's brother, was rather annoying. Maybe his fated mate, Kat should've been there to straighten him out. The mystery behind, Jenna and Connor's sister, Hannah's disappearance made the action non-stop. It also gave Jenna and Trevor's relationship a chance to build at the perfect pace. I'm liking these crossover stories between Dallas and LA. Paige Tyler's imagination has no limits.
