As she nears 30, Riley Leighton comes back home to support her mother during her cancer treatment. In search of employment, she finds a temporary position at the local pet rescue, a place she volunteered during her teen years. Being home stirs memories of her high school sweetheart, Levi Duncan, whom she parted ways with after a cruel prank during their prom led her to eagerly leave for college. Levi, having faced an accident and concussion in his commercial diving career, is also contemplating a change. Learning that Riley's back, he too returns to their hometown.

"You’re My Home" is a captivating tale of rediscovered love, filled with warmth, joy, and the journey of two individuals striving to overcome their history and look ahead. This read is perfect for those with a soft spot for animals and a longing for romance.

loved this romance and her trying to find love and finding herself. loved the friends and and the romance. I would read this author again. I really enjoyed the pacing and how the story and the character worked things out.

I love this series! It's one of my favorite romance series, because the characters (and the dogs!) are simply excellent. The one thing that always drives me nuts, is that the cover never depicts the right kind of dog for the book - I don't know why, but it's something I always notice. Anyway - Burns does it again with a super fun, lighthearted romance. I loved the characters, the chemistry, and how the series continues itself so seamlessly.

A romance with dogs in it= perfection in my book. Riley left her high school a disgrace, now 12 years later she's come home for a bit. Levi is a marine diver on his way out because of an accident a few months back. The two never got to say what needed said.
This was such a fun, Hallmark type book I really enjoyed Riley and Levi's banter . I've read a few books by the author. I think they get better each time.

An emotional read, the second chance romance for Riley and Levi. Both left town after things fell apart for them, and now he has followed her back. I liked how it is told from both points of view.
Hoping Marcus gets a book.next!

Each year, I look forward to returning to the Rescue Me series for another romance… and probably just as importantly, another couple to find their forever home of the human type. You’re My Home is the seventh title in the series but since it’s a complete story within itself I don’t feel that you must have read the earlier stories to enjoy Levi and Riley’s story. You’ll run into some couples from the previous stories, but I don’t believe you’d feel lost. I’ll always gently suggest starting from the beginning of any series, but that’s not always possible… so I believe you’d enjoy this one just as it is – a cute, charming love story with one huge pup as important to the story as the couple is.

As always, let’s start off with the rescue pet in this one. Arlo, you huge, goofy, loving Great Dane. I adored this guy. And the humans in this story aren’t bad either. *insert a smile right here* My only annoyance with You’re My Home wasn’t about the story one little bit… I loved this romance. But, come on guys, that is not a Great Dane on the cover. And for as vital and important a role that Arlo plays in this romance — the Great Dane deserved to be on the cover.

Levi and Riley were sort of an item in high school, but at their prom, something happened, something cringe-worthy that turned a wonderful, memorable night into something far different. And Riley fled in humiliation and embarrassment. She left town shortly afterward, without a look back, and in that moment broke Levi’s young heart. Time has passed, and each has gone on to other things, and now as adults in their 30s, both Riley and Levi have come home. The emotions between them are still there, just as strong as ever. Now comes the choice to do something about what they are feeling for each other now… while dealing with the mistakes of the past.

I enjoyed Riley and Levi’s story. It’s well-written, low angst (in spite of the teenage history), with a second chance to get their love right… and one adorable big goof of a dog that will help that second chance work for all of them, including Arlo. I had such fun with this one, tears and laughter, second chances and healing. Hard to ask for much more than that.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley, and I sincerely thank the author or publishing house for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

You're My Home is the seventh book in the Rescue Me Series by Debbie Burns. Somewhere down the line I missed a couple of the books, now needing to go back to catch up with this community. As for this story it read just well not having read all the series. So don’t be afraid to pick up this feel good second chance romance.

Riley Leighton and Levi Duncan have a history from ten years ago. This time they are more mature but because of the past this new chance is bittersweet. Fears, insecurities make this new chance one that is uncertain. Problems to be solved, two imperfect characters that are still kind and responsible along with fascinating animals all came together for an enjoyable read. You're My Home is an uplifting coming home story.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

You're My Home is a sweet, low-angst second chance romance between Riley and Levi. In their senior year of HS, they had finally started dating, only to have everything fall apart when they were caught up in a family scandal through no fault of their own. They were humiliated at their prom and Riley decided to leave town as soon as she graduated and never look back.

For Levi, Riley was "the one who got away". He didn't want to break up and didn't understand why she ran. He has also been working away from home, but recently suffered a career ending concussion and has been at loose ends, so when he hears Riley is back in town, he immediately heads home, hoping to at least clear the air with her.

At first, Riley can't wait to run again, but when she lucks into a temp job at the animal shelter she used to volunteer at, and strongly bonds with a sweet, goofy, but traumatized Great Dane, she slowly starts to see her home town through different eyes. Meanwhile, Levi seizes the opportunity to show her how good things could be between them. Their romance was almost too easy, but it was perfect for the mood I've been in lately. I'm always looking for romances where everyone is kind to each other and where there are lots of cute animals and this book delivered on both of those things. The only thing I'm unhappy about is that although Arlo, the Great Dane, is an integral part of the story, the dog on the cover is completely wrong! My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

If you are feeling down and need a pick me up, I highly suggest picking up You're my Home by Debbie Burns. Not only was it a delight to read such a positive book, it got me out of the funk I was in. Hands down, this might be the cutest book I ever read in my life. I know we normally do not say a book is cute, but this one was, especially if you prefer dogs and cats to humans like me.

What people are not going to like about the book, is that it takes about ten chapters for there to be an actual problem for the main character, so it is a slow build, but because of the author's ability to make cuteness happen, you are going to want to stick with the book. Also, if you don't like happy books, then this may not be for you either.

Now, that might be what the ADHD readers may not like about the book, but I, on the other hand, completely adored the book's ability to inject some happy dopamine into my veins. It was so nice reading a book where the characters do not have any hidden agenda's and are not backstabbing for once, so much so that I picked up another Debbie Burns book to see if she is consistent with her happy tone and so far so good.

The easy to follow plot of old lovers reconnecting after a set of unlucky circumstances leads them back into the same small town/big city of St. Louis they grew up in, is filled with the utter joy of animals. This book is for the animal lovers out there who are also pinning for romance. Any new writer should pick this book up, read it, take notes, study it, and learn from it that not all books have to be dark, they can be happy and cute.

Go out and get the book May 9th 2023 if you need a pick me up.

Another fantastic add to this series!

I have to say, I've loved all the books in this series. I mean, what's not to love? Cute dogs, friendly workers at an animal shelter, former sweethearts that get happy endings!?!

When Riley returns home to help her Mom as she starts radiation for breast cancer, she has a few demons from her past to bury. After witnessing an embarrassing kiss between her Mom and Levi's Dad, Riley is further humiliated at her prom by fellow attendees, all making her and Levi the brunt of their jokes. At the time, Riley is so upset that she leaves town and if she ever does return, she keeps a very low profile. That is, until she starts working part time at the animal shelter while looking for a permanent job elsewhere.

Levi has no idea of the depth of Riley's emotions around the situation. He's dealing with the loss of his career, but can't help coming back to High Grove once he learns Riley is back. Their reunion goes in a different direction than Riley expected, but Levi manages to recover well and their relationship blossoms from there. But will it be enough? Will they each find jobs and move on? I know, but you don't...until you read this book!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

A charming second chance romance. Also a second chance at new careers. Loved the dogs, of course. Engaging couple with interesting family and friends. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

I really liked this story, a second chance romance between Riley and Levi. The reason they broke up initially was a little cringe worthy and likely unnecessarily so but after getting back together, the story was warm and paced nicely. I loved the inclusion of the animals which, based on the two books I have read from this author, is her thing (although I wish the cover of the book reflected the animals discussed). Overall a sweet romance that kept my attention throughout. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for an early read.

Riley and Levi broke up after high school but now 12 years later, they're both back in town and well, it's time for a second chance. Riley's mom is ill and she's come home to help. She takes a job at an animal shelter (lots of fun animals here) where she volunteered as a teen. Levi, who is a deep sea diver has been struggling with a TBI and he's back for r&r. This is trope-y to be sure but it's also sweet. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A relaxing read.

This was a very predictable, sweet romance. It is a part of a series, but you could read it alone. If you enjoy books focused on rescue animals and cute dogs, you will really enjoy this story. At times the animals were more central in the story than the romance.

Even though the main characters knew each other previously, the romance seemed a little quick when they reunited. It would have helped to see them get to know who they are now.

The ending seem to be setting up for the next book, although I could not find that to confirm it.

You’re My Home is a feel good, second chance romance with lots of cute dogs. I’m new to author and found her writing quick and easy going. Riley Leighton is approaching 30 and returns home to help while her mom undergoes treatment for cancer. She is looking for work and ends up with the perfect temporary job at the local pet rescue where she use to volunteer as a teen. Being home reminds her of Levi Duncan her high school boyfriend and great love. They broke up after a mean spirited prank at their prom and she couldn’t wait to leave town for college. Levi’s has worked as a commercial diver but a recent accident and concussion mean it’s time for a change. He hears Riley is back and he returns to his hometown as well.

This is all heart melty cuteness. Both can admit they still having feelings without hardly going on one date. For me I had a hard time believing they can just pick up where they left off. There is no deep discussion of dreams, goals, past relationships etc. Who I was at 18 is very different than who I was 30 and I actually married someone from my high school graduating class. (We were never together in HS.) So I didn’t love how instantly they were back to being a couple.

This is a sweet way to spend a few hours if you prefer no angst stories. There is limited mild cursing and intimacy is off the page. One small complaint about the cover. It is pretty but Arlo, the Great Dane, is almost a full side character in the story. If you’re going to put a dog on the cover have it match the dog in the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC and I’m leaving a voluntary review. (3.5 Stars)
