I have loved the Lovelight farms series! Each book has had such a heartwarming story, but if i’m being honest I think Layla and Caleb’s story has been my favorite 😍

Tropes:
🧁 Small Town Romance
🧁 Sunshine/Sunshine
🧁 Practice Dating
🧁 Lots and Lots of Baked Treats

Layla has always had troubles with dating, the men she goes out with turn out to be terrible human beings. When she runs into Caleb, a local from the town Inglewild and regular in her Bakery, on one of her terrible dates he offers to drive her home. From there they decide to help each other out to see what they are both doing wrong in the dating world. Little does Layla know Caleb has always had a huge crush on her.

This story was so sweet, pun intended. I loved focusing on Layla’s character after meeting her in previous books. Caleb was the perfect man for her. When a man comes in your bakery day after day after day that should have been a green flag that he was into her 😂 I loved that Caleb was right there to help build her up after years of thinking she was cursed when it came to men. He was also right there every time she needed it most. I really felt the connection that this couple had and I enjoyed reading about their love story.

The audiobook version of this book was great, I really enjoyed both of the narrators and they made the story more enjoyable to listen to.

Thank you to #netgalley and #dreamscapemedia for the #gifted copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Over all I liked this book a lot!
Did I realize it was book three of the series before starting it.. Nope that is my bad. But I wasn't lost in the story since each book is about different characters.
I loved the trope of fake dating and loved it even more when the guy fell first even before they started fake dating! I love Caleb and the lengths that he goes to truly try and give her a perfect date. *SWOONS*

The one thing I will say I didn't like about this book was I wasn't a huge fan of the female audio book narrator but that is just because to me she sounded way older than the character and read at a different pace than her male counterpart.

I would buy the book though and after I read the first two I am gonna go back and read the book version of this one!

Mixed Signals did a good job scratching the romance itch. I did enjoy this book but it was a-little hard for me to keep up with it. I was initially excited because the book takes place in Maryland, which is where I am from. I loved all the nods to Maryland. I think I struggled with this book because it was a cute romance, and that was it. The characters were a-little flat to me. Over all the book was enjoyable and did it's job, just wish there was a-little more.

Thank you Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the gifted audiobook!

Mixed Signals is the third installment in the Lovelight Farms series and was just as adorable as the first two books in the series!! I loved the evolution of Layla and Caleb's relationship. They are a perfect couple, and I was very happy to listen to their stories. and the epilogue was PERFECT!!

I'm not sure why, though, but I wasn't as invested in this book as the first two. I still loved it, but it didn't make me as emotional as the others. But I still love this series and I'm eagerly awaiting book four in the series!!

This book didn't work for me. There was no tension. The characters both liked each other from the beginning. They went on dates to help the hot guy pick up on the signals he always seemed to be missing. I found it kind of boring.

I was so excited to read this book! The previous book “Into the Weeds” was a 5-star read for me. Although they can be read as standalone books, I strongly recommend reading this series in order because each subsequent book has spoilers for the previous one.

After a string of bad dates, Layla runs into Caleb and they decide to fake-ish date each other. It was mutually beneficial and they would not have to deal with bad feeling when the arrangement comes to an end. But as many romance stories go, lines start being blurred and they start to catch feelings for each other.

There was one event that seemed very forced and put the Layla in a bad situation. You will know when you come to it. But the rest of the plot flowed smoothly.

This read was super cozy. I think that is due to the casual but amusing writing and the relatable characters. Although it is not my favorite book in the series, I will now commit to reading any book the author comes out with next.

Read if you like:
- Fake dating
- Relatable characters
- Bakeries
- Small towns
- Banter
- Slightly steamy scenes

Mixed Signals was very cute and sweet. The hero was the definition of a cinnamon hero and the heroine was the town baker who everyone loves. They enter into a fake dating scenario so she can learn what a good guy is and he wants to know why women only want to date him for 3-4 dates. This started off really cute with quirky dates with things going wrong. However, I got a little bored once the magazine coverage portion started. The heroine felt kind of silly for not just accepting the hero when he said he wanted to be with her. Her reasoning felt flimsy. Overall, this was cute and give major Gilmore Girls vibes but the story won't stick with me.

This was just okay for me. It was nice to go back to the town and the characters from the previous books (I didn't read the first book). The little world where the series takes place is well built and charming. And I think the author does a good job of writing empowered women and sensitive men - which I appreciate. But Mixed Signals felt even more formulaic than the previous book in the series (which I also got an audio ARC for.) and ultimately the main characters lacked depth. I feel like we heard a lot about what they wanted and things that made them think about each other but not much about who they are - which was frustrating and repetitive after a while. The way Layla handled the third act conflict was even more frustrating and not super believable, but I did appreciate Caleb's part. I did also very much appreciate how they communicated about sex - I thought that was well done. As was the tension and affection between the main characters.

One improvement from the previous book is that the Latine representation, while still neutral, has a bit more meat to it than the ambiguous dark-skin representation in the previous book. But in the audio for this book, that brought a new consideration. It felt random who had a Spanish accent. Like why would Caleb not have an accent but his brother Alex does? I hope there is some consideration to this in the next book in the series.

Overall, this was a light, formulaic small-town romance.

Layla has had zero luck in her dating life. After a particularly bad date, she runs into Caleb, her longstanding customer of her bakery and outside the bakery walls he is HOT. How had she not noticed this before? What Layla doesn't know is that Caleb has always had a crush on her. So when he suggest they fake date to for mutual benefits they embark on a month long journey of fake dates. Except, lines get blurred as they both start enjoying themselves more and more. Can they take this relationship past the 1 month trial period, or is it worth the risk with everyone in this small town watching their potential to fail.

So I am not gonna lie, I didn't love the first two books in the series, but I felt like I was already invested into this series so I requested it anyways. I was pleasantly surprised with this Mixed Signals.

What I Liked:
• I loved that for once the man was the clumsy one. So many romances have these excessively clumsy characters who, at this point, I just find so annoying as a character trait. But with Caleb being the object of injury it was refreshing and funny.
• The Fake dating trope didn't seem forced or obvious.
• The characters were super relatable, especially when it came to dating. As a single woman in the modern age trying to date, it is so hard! She shows how much dating people from the apps can be creeps. Also the feelings Caleb have in regards to dating and going all in too fast, is so relatable.
• “Why are you settling for crumbs when you deserve the whole damn cake?” DAMN that hit me in the chest!

What I didn't Like:
• The audio female narrator's accent kept going in and out. At some points this southern belle accent was so excessive it felt so halmark-y and corny, while other places it was barely even noticeable. I didn't feel this with the male voice.
• I also really don't like when a male speaks in a woman's voice and vice versa. It totally took me out of the story every time they tried using a different voice for the other character. It's never cute. Stop doing it! Just have the conversation between the two voice actors.

Thanks to the audio publisher for the ALC in return for an honest review!

Mixed Signals is the third installment of the Lovelight Farm series and it was a solid 4.5 star read when I read the ebook earlier this year. I’m so glad this series is being recorded onto audio -
I’m loving Pippa Jayne’s narration in this series for the female points of view, and Mixed Signals introduces Julio Maxwell to narrate as Caleb. All the magic of Layla & Caleb’s love story is brought to life with Pippa & Julio’s excellent narration - the pining, the slow burn, and the steam are so much *more* on audio.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC.

I’ve never read anything by this author before, but was super intrigued since so many people have been reading her first book, Lovelight Farms, (and freaking loving it). So when I saw the audiobook for this was available, I thought I’d give it a listen. But I wasn’t expecting to ADORE this freaking book as much as I did.

I loved the charming small town vibes of this, it very much reminded me of a Hallmark movie, so I was able to fly right through this. Caleb was just the sweetest man ever and I enjoyed reading about his and Layla’s blossoming romance. I just thought it was super cute. However, it’s not a full five star read because the execution of the final act was not my fave; I just didn’t think it was necessary. Plus, Layla’s actions and choices were slightly over dramatic to me.

As for the audiobook, I loved both the narrators. I thought their voices truly fit the characters and they just did an amazing job at conveying the characters thoughts, emotions and making their voices distinct.

I would love to read more books from this series whenever I can access them. They just feel like super cozy reads I can sink into after a long day; which to be honest I’m in the mood for those kinds of books right now.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison… phenomenal and so cute. This was my introduction book to their writing and let me tell you, I was so obsessed that I purchased the first two books in this series. (Which I can’t wait to read by the way) This small-town romance book is about a bakery owner and a man who has been fascinated by her for the longest time. With their terrible dating records, he wanted to give her a dating experience that made her feel special and show her what she really deserved.

I love fake dating tropes because it throws the main characters into awkward situations that give me secondhand anxiety but it’s also super cute. The butterflies in your stomach cute. Overall, I thought this book was a quick and easy listen. The narrator did a great job and really made book 10x better for me. Would I recommend others to listen to it? Absolutely yes.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the early audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Another cozy romantic hit from B.K. borison. This is a bit of lessons in dating/fake dating in a small town. The main heroine is a baker working on a christmas tree farm which makes you want to eat all the christmas goods. This is definetly very character driven and has some goofy moments.

I am obsessed with this series! I am so happy Layla got the love story that she deserves. This small town is filled will so much love and I find myself wishing that I lived in a place like that while reading it. This story was so sweet and funny and I enjoyed it sooo much! I would definitely recommend.

This is a sweet romance with ample steam to heat up your kitchen! You won't want to miss this 3rd visit to Lovelight Farm and the surrounding towns. The characters are realistically flawed as well as sweet and likeable. You will be drawn into the story and won't want to come up until the end. The plot is a fun twist on the friends to lovers' theme that will have you wanting your own sweet arrangement in the future! The narration of this audio is outstanding as the dual narrators do a fantastic job of bringing the characters and their emotions to life for you and making the story feel all that much more real! I really hope there will be more visits to Lovelight Farm in the future as I have gotten quite invested in the townsfolk involved. If you haven't read the first two books in the series you are missing out on hours of entertainment and back story so I do recommend that you start with book one, but you could enjoy this book as a standalone if you really wanted to, but seriously you would be missing out!

Look, I love a good baked sweet treat as much as the next, but there is nothing sexy about bringing the baking and sweet treat talk into the bedroom. At first I could look past it, but by the end of Mixed Signals I was cringing every time baking came up because more often than not one of the characters would act like mentioning a thumbprint cookie was erotic. Just no. Please. Keep the baking in the kitchen. I hate to even have to write this in a review but here we are unfortunately.

Other than that it was a sweet small town love story about learning to trust in love after bad dates/relationships. But unfortunately the sexy food references were way too much for me.

This series just keeps getting better and better, swoonier and swoonier. Maybe steamier and steamier too. Zero complaints about any of that - I loved this! It’s easiest to appreciate this series to its fullest when you read it in order, so I was already so excited to dig into Caleb and Layla’s story before it even got started. In previous books, we saw this sweetheart of a hero start to fall for his girl without even realizing it. And he’s just so ADORABLE - a kind, sexy man who blushes at the sweetest moments, and whose biggest fault is that his heart is just too big. He loves with his whole self, which was incredibly heart-melting. Caleb makes the perfect partner for Layla, a woman who has never been treated the way she deserves. Together, they were such a great (clueless) couple, and their chemistry was SO good. The build in intimacy was excellent, and so was the slow burn to SIZZLE romance. I loved it!

The story follows Layla, a baker who never seems to date the right guy. She’s had to lower her expectations so much that dating almost isn’t worth it anymore. So when Layla bumps into Caleb after her latest dating disaster, the last thing she’s looking for is someone new. But seeing the cute former cop/current teacher in a different setting makes Layla see him differently, and she can’t help but feel a spark of attraction. As the two share their dating woes, Caleb reveals that he often gets ahead of himself in relationships. Their commiserating leads to an unexpected arrangement - for one month, Caleb will show Layla how she should be treated, and she’ll give him tips on his dating missteps. Neither one anticipated just how well their arrangement would go… or just how much they’d wish that they were dating for real.

I do recommend reading the series in order, because the small town/community feel gets stronger with every book. So does Borison’s writing, honestly. Each book has its own swoony feel, but this one felt the strongest to me - so many little swoony breadcrumbs sprinkled along the way, such likable characters, and plenty fan-worthy spice. Caleb is what makes this particular book over-the-top special though; he’s just such a good guy, and a true cinnamon roll with a little bite in the bedroom. Stellar book boyfriend material, the guy that everyone needs in their life. He took the swoon up a notch, so there were some magical moments - and tons of chemistry. I also love that Borison’s style allows for a low angst feel while also tackling some heavier subjects. It gives the story emotional depth without weighing it down, leading to a more fulfilling reading experience. I certainly won’t be forgetting this smile-inducing romance anytime soon.

Audio note: The audio was pretty good! I enjoyed the first two books in the audio format, so I was already familiar with Pippa Jayne's voice from those experiences. While I wasn't initially a fan of the tone of her voice, it has grown on me over time and I now find it quite relaxing. The same could be said of Julio Maxwell, who is a new addition to this installment. I can't say that he's a favorite of mine (I vastly preferred Dane Anderson from book 2), but his voice is definitely listenable and soothing. I would've picked a different voice for this particular hero, but Maxwell does a good job overall. As a whole, the book works very well in audio and blends in perfectly with the feel of the series. It's laidback and easygoing, with a palatable runtime and plentiful small town charm. Audio is a great way to experience a series that is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

There has to be something in the water in Inglewild (I've said this before. It seems to be something that brings together people who are right for each other but this something also seems to scramble and warp their communications skills. This time the silly couple is made up of Layla and Caleb.
Layla, who bakes the best baked goods in her bakery at Lovelight. Caleb, former deputy but now high school teacher, Who shows up at Layla's bakery, like clockwork, ordering one butter croissant and coffee. Caleb has had a crush on Layla since he first set eves on her. Lavla has no faith in men because of past experience so she doesn't even notice them until she actually does start noticing Caleb.
So of course they have to make things very hard. Like why don't they fake date so they can critique each other after a month to allow each of them to be better daters? Shaking my head at these two. I like how I never have to really worry, so much of the angst is self induced and there is plenty of comfort, support, good and bad advice. No one is really alone in these stories if they will just look up and realize that others are there for them.
For those who care about these things, this story is very spicy. I prefer a fade to black or a bedroom door slammed in my face but that's not what you get here. Prepare yourself for sugary sweet and spicy hot.

This was probably my favorite from the series. I’m such a sucker for when the guy falls first and dual POV. It was a perfect blend of humor, banter, spice and feeling. Caleb is officially one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends. I also loved that we got to revisit characters from the first two books.

Cute romance with a very small side plot. I enjoyed the listen and the steam was TOP notch. Pretty surface level, great for a binge read.
