I really did enjoy reading this however not nearly as much as the first two books in the series. This story was super cute but didn't give me that warm, Christmas, cozy feeling that the other two did. I still highly recommend it and can't wait for the fourth installment!

"No one likes you by accident. I see you. I always have."

Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison is the third book in the Lovelight Farms holiday small town romance series and can be a standalone but the whole series is worth the experience.

Layla has been feeding the town with her bakery goods as couples fall in love all around her. Every date ends in disaster. Caleb has loved Layla from afar but tried dating others to no avail. After rescuing her from another bad date they make a pact to date for one month where he proves not all men are bad and she gives him tips to improve his dating skills. Now we know by the end of the month this pact will have steamy consequences.

Narrators Pippa Jayne and Julio Maxwell are adorable as these two kind insecure people find strength together to be together. My favorite line:

"...because I want to watch you become undone and I want to be the one to do it."

Special mention for the tree "Spruce Springsteen!"

Brilliant! Amazing small town story. B.K. Borison is a must read author now! The rest of the lovelight series!

Whenever I need a dash of coziness, B.K. Borison's Lovelight series delivers. It's a warm cup of coffee or tea or hot cocoa from Layla's bakehouse. And this one—Mixed Signals—is oh-so-sweet in just the right way.

Layla cannot seem to find a good one. Date after date after date—the guys seem to be getting worse instead of better. And she refuses to date inside Inglewild town limits. Can you imagine having to see an ex over and over again in a small town?

Caleb has been pining over Layla for a while. (Do you remember all those custom cakes he used to buy?) And, like Layla, he also can't seem to find the right person to date him. Since he is an Inglewild resident, Layla won’t date him outright, but what would happen if they practice date each other instead? Maybe they could help each other.

This one is all about finding the right person who sees and appreciates you for who you are—someone who can laugh with you through the dates that are a series of comedies of errors, who can raise your heart rate with a look or a touch, someone who feels like home.

It’s about showing someone both your timidness and your boldness.

It’s about a good girl meeting a good boy and about finding the ability to trust yourself and someone else enough to fall in love.

Gah. I just adored this one.

I listened to this one on audio. As with the first two books of the series, Pippa Jayne narrates the female POV chapters here, and her voice is just as sweet and lilting as ever. I had forgotten the line about Layla’s “sweet southern hospitality” in Lovelight Farms, so I was initially surprised by Jayne’s choice of Southern accent in this one. Julio Maxwell narrated the male POV chapters in Mixed Signals. While I enjoyed his voice for Caleb, I was a little confused and distracted by his vocal choices for Charlie, Stella’s brother.

I recommend this one if you are in need of a warm hug.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Dreamscape Media and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

This one was just so fun and yummy. Layla with her bakery goodies and Caleb just wanting to help everyone. Layla was sure she was not going to ever find the right man to date and she was not going to date anyone from town but when she runs into Caleb at a pub when she is out on yet another bad date and he gives her a ride home to save her from calling a Lyft they strike up a deal. They will date each other for a month as he needs some help too. What are they going to do when the month is up and neither want to stop dating but the deal is over?

Another adorable Lovelight Farms story. Mixed Signals is the third book in the series and follows the relationship between Layla and Caleb. They just scream cute and had everyone rooting for them. Their relationship is a slow-burn, but there are some steamy scenes which makes it all worth it! The only thing that annoyed me is how unsure the characters are about their own feelings and how much they question the reasons behind what others do. I believe Charlie and Nova’s story is next and I cannot wait for it, although it may be the last. I love the covers of all of these! These books just make me happy.

I enjoyed this book overall, but it wasn’t my favorite Lovelight Farms book. The audiobook was good but I just couldn’t get past the southern accent Layla had. I don’t know if I missed something but I never imagine Layla with a southern twang and it just kind of threw me off. (I obviously have nothing against southern accents but I just paint a picture in my head of characters throughout a series and that wasn’t part of what I envisioned 😆)

I also struggled a bit with Caleb. His character felt a bit rushed in his character development. He went from sweet and slow to feisty and fast in their relationship very quickly. I usually enjoy a bit more of a slow burn. But nonetheless he’s still the cutest!

I love the dedication and love these two had for each other since basically day one of their arrangement. Caleb was the real MVP in Layla’s bakery disaster, he’s such a heart throb and I was #teamcaleb since book one!

Thank you @netgalley for the early audiobook in exchange for my honest review. 🤍

Wow! I just loved how this story unfolded. I couldn't stop reading it. It actually might tie for first in my opinion with the first book in the series. I thought the sweetness of the characters just melted my heart. This story had every element you would want in a heartwarming and steamy romance!

I received the advanced copy of this audiobook. It is a sweet sequel.
When two friends make a arrangement for 1 month to test each other on what they are doing wrong in the dating pool.... what could go wrong....

I enjoyed the audio book.and liked both narrators. This is the second book I’ve read by the author. It’s a love story. Also, it deals with self doubt, family, friends, and baking. I listened to this at a faster speed of 1.5. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance reader audio copy.

Ahhh Mixed Signals was so swoonworthy sweet and the perfect amount of spice. ⁣

Layla owns her own bakery on Lovelight Farms. She makes delicious treats and loves bright pops of color and just wants a man who will eat her treats and snuggle her on the couch. She’s so kind.⁣

Caleb has a huge family and anxiety holds him back in relationships, causing him to overthink everything and never feel good enough but he is the sweetest cinnamon roll.⁣

These two decide to fake date to see why they’re failing relationships except they are absolute perfection for each other. They are openly affectionate and kind with each other and others. They have the craziest, quirkiest dates and they are there for each other in crises. ⁣

I absolute adored their journey from aquaintances to friends to lovers. It also made me hungry with all of the baked goods. Also, Caleb loves to give praise. 😉 ⁣

I absolutely loved the narrators and felt they truly brought the characters and story to life!

Layla has an awful track record of dating the wrong kind of men. Caleb, former deputy and now teacher, never gets past about the 3rd date. When Caleb runs into Layla at the end of an awful date, he proposes that they date for the next month to help each other see what’s going on. Layla has obviously decided she needs to settle and Caleb wants to show her how amazing he thinks she is. As real feelings develop, this may be harder to step away from than they though.
I loved being back at Lovelight Farms. I feel like this was the steamiest and maybe consequently my least favorite so far? But that doesn’t mean I didn’t really enjoy it and I know many others will appreciate that more than me. All of the baking elements in the book (Layla runs a bakery if you’re new to the series) were a lot of fun. And Caleb was just so sweet. I loved him.
If you haven’t read earlier in the series, the 2 couples from the previous books are seen a few times which is fun if you’re familiar, but it doesn’t give much away other than the fact that they’re together which we all expect from a romance anyway. So, I’d read them in order because I’m a civilized human, but you could definitely jump into this one and not be lost.
The audiobook had different narrators for Layla and Caleb which I will always always appreciate. I thought they did a good job and I enjoyed listening to the story.

“I think I’ve been falling in love with you for a while, Layla. One butter croissant at a time.”

Mixed Signals is the third book in the Lovelight series, however it is a standalone romance. I haven’t read the other two books in the series but I will definitely after this! Mixed Signals focuses on Layla, a baker who is desperate for love but seems to only find the worst fish in the sea. Until she runs into Caleb in a Hawaiian shirt. Caleb can never get past the third date so he comes up with an arrangement, one month of no-strings attached dating. Caleb will treat Layla the way she deserves and Layla will rate Caleb’s dating skills. Little does Layla know, Caleb has been crushing on her for years and their chemistry might destroy their arrangement.

This was everything and MORE that I needed from a romance book. I was swinging my legs and giggling the whole way through! This book is a sunshine/sunshine pairing and they are both so cute!! Caleb also has golden retriever energy and I’m here for it! They are able to comfort and support each other so well. Theres no real toxic relationship tropes in this book and even the main conflict isn’t large or relationship ruining. I thought there was going to be some miscommunication (my least favourite trope) but its skipped right over and the couple is able to communicate their feelings with each other so well!

There are so spicy scenes in here! No fade to black, yay! Its nothing to explicit, but if you look through my previous reads you’ll know there’s not much I bat an eye at. I thought the spicy scenes were well done! They were hot but also very sweet. There is clear communication in the bedroom scenes, there is nothing I love more than the MMC asking for direction to see what the FMC likes. MEN TAKE NOTES!

I received the audiobook which is narrated by Pippa Jayne and Julio Maxwell. The narration was so well done! About 70% through Layla has a little breakdown and the emotion Pippa is able to convey is absolutely gorgeous! It was hard not to tear up!

We got some cameos from the previous pairings from the first two books so I am excited to leave more about how they came to be! I’m also so excited to read Lovelight Farms in Christmas time, how festive! If you like dual POV, sunshine x sunshine, golden retriever energy, friends to lovers and healthy relationships (friendships and romantic) this is the book for you!

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy for an honest review. I love you guys 💕

I enjoyed this story. It had all the elements of a good romance novel. Likable characters and an intriqing story line. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good romance book. I listened to the audiobook and thought it was well done.

I really loved Lovelight Farm and I’ve been loving Layla throughout this series so I couldn’t wait for her to be the star and get to Mixed Signals. Unlucky in love, baker Layla is fed up with dating the wrong guy, so her friend Caleb, who has been pining for her since he first tasted her baked goods, had an idea: they date for a month to help each other so better in love. I wanted to love this so much, but this one didn’t work as much for me. I adored Layla. She’s smart and independent and loving for love and is just so endearing. And I loved seeing the Lovelight family again supporting her—the friendships in this are absolutely wonderful. It was Caleb and the chemistry of him and Layla that didn’t click for me. Caleb feels too timid the whole book. This didn’t have miscommunication so much as the two just didn’t communicate at all; they left so much unsaid that it was no wonder they got confused. I wanted Caleb to be more of a romantic hero and I think he felt a little too passive for me. Again though, I adored Layla and her journey. I would just love to visit her bake shop and the Lovelight farm. She felt so well developed. The dialogue too is so strong and the community is so wonderful. It’s a fun read, I just wanted more from the romance.

This sweet and steamy small-town standalone romance features a bashful man who can rock a Hawaiian shirt, a hopeful bakery owner, and enough sweets to give you a cavity.
Oh how i loved this book and have been enjoying this whole series! Definitely recommend!!!

My favorite couple of three in the series from this author, I found myself laughing out loud multiple times and rooting so much for the two of them. A dual POV "friends who date each other so they can have better relationships down the road but (spoiler alert) may or may not fall in love with each other" story, and I ate it up. Pun intended, considering the FMC is a baker and I have not wanted so many pastries in my life.

This is the third in the Lovelight series by B.K. Borison. I love the audio narration by Pippa Jayne and Julio Maxwell. Pippa is also the narrator in the first two books of the series and it is surprising when Layla has a lovely southern (Virginian) accent. That alone put me in a swoony mood.

Layla majored in math and engineering but follows her college best friend back to her hometown and now runs the Bakehouse at the Christmas Tree farm they co-own with farm manger Beckett. She pours all her best into the goodies that she bakes in the small town. After running through a string of bad dates she breaks her own rules and agrees to date towny Caleb. For five years he regularly comes into her shop but she’s never really notices him before he gives her a ride home from her latest dating disaster.

Caleb proposes a month of dating and they can give each other feedback on what does and doesn’t work. For his part Caleb is kindness personified always willing to lend others a hand. But he fears dating too as he says he often projects his feelings onto others. Of course things are going to spark as the small town watches the romance bloom.

Borison is a very descriptive writer. There are pages of want, longing, touches, brushes of knuckles, tastes and kisses. Honestly, the fake dating to give feedback seems a fairly weak trope. After so much honest communication, the awkwardness and angst moment seemed like it was thrown in just to add a tinge of drama.

But I love this town and characters. And of course I’m rooting for Layla and Caleb just as I cheered her other business partners in the previous books. The novel is available on KU and I did read along occasionally to the narration. Also Kudos for the beautiful covers for the entire series. I’m guessing the series will continue as hints are given for the next main characters. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing an audio book in exchange for an honest review.

Layla is looking for the one guy that will give her butterflies. But all she gets is ghosted with an unpaid check... Caleb has the perfect solution: dating him for one month, no strings attached, so her faith in men is renewed.
This was a cute sunshine, sunshine, fake (but not really) dating, filled with cute characters. I listened to the audio book, and the narration was great. It's the third book of the Lovelight Farm series, and it was not my favorite (the second one was the best IMO). I was expecting a lot more from Layla from what I read in the first book, and she was a bit frustrating and annoying at times. And I am not a fan of the miscommunication trope. I did however love the cameos from the characters from the two other books.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Great Book! I loved this series and the third book Mixed Signals did not disappoint. Layla and Caleb's story was everything and I loved the glimpses at the other Lovelight couples. The author knows how to mix a cute and steamy rom com.
Thanks you for the audiobook!
