I loved everything about Borison's third installment in the Lovelight series. The plot moves along beautifully. The characters are adorable and likable with smart and witty dialogues. The dual narration was exquisitely executed. The small town community feel gets stronger and deeper with every book. And the steam... Don't even get me started on the steam. Swoon! I love that Layla Dupree finally got her happy ending. This is definitely one of the best romances I've read recently. A HUGE thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was my second time reading this book, this time on Audio! I loved it just as much as the first time! Which is no surprise because I love Becs books so so much. This is one of my favourite series of books and I will continue to reread them forever 😍

I loved the dual narrators for Caleb and Layla! Caleb’s narrator wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but once I got used to him, I was hooked!

This book was one big hug!

Mixed Signals follows Layla, a bakery owner who hasn’t had the best luck in the dating department, and Caleb, the former town cop turned teacher who often gets ahead of himself in relationships. When Caleb rescues Layla after her most recent dating disaster, the two agree on a one month arrangement to experimental date, in order to better themselves for future partners. Of course, neither of them anticipated real feelings getting in the way of their agreement.

Layla and Caleb officially have a special place in my heart. I loved their emotional and physical connection and how relatable each of them were. Their experimental dates/antics were so much fun (i.e., roller skating date and escape room) and the steamy scenes were interwoven into the story in a way that added the plot rather than take away from it. Becs’ writing is so descriptive and atmospheric that I felt like I was transported right to the small, fictional town of Inglewild. I did listen to the audio for this and would highly advice against it! While I still loved the story itself, the female narrator was not great for depicting Layla.

Read if you like:
-Sunshine x sunshine trope
-Baked goods
-He falls first
-Experimental dating
-Spicy scenes
-Small town romance

I had already read the first book of this series and fell in love with all the characters. Somehow I accidentally
skipped the second book, but since I already knew who the couple was for the second book I didn't have any problems skipping to the third book of the series. This book was so cute! Can I say that Caleb seems like such a puppy dog partner but we see how perfect he is over the course of the book so well! The narrator picked for this audiobook is so fitting for each character I was able to get into the story so much. I could feel the emotions by the ending of the book and had to take a moment to cry a bit at the paid I could tell Caleb was going through. Loved this so much and I will def be going back and reading the second book and any other books this author comes out with!

Oh Layla and Caleb! A match made in heaven, but they don't see it.

Layla can't find the type of guy she really wants to date. She finds the ones who steal silverware and lint roll her. Then she bumps into Caleb on one of these bad date nights. He's had a crush on Layla for a while.

Caleb struggles with dating too, and has a proposition - they will date for one month and give feedback to the other to help them in their dating quest.

Of course, as they spend time together feelings come in play and they both question if the other is feeling the same. Can they find love or will they go their separate ways after a month?

Caleb was a sweet as Layla's baked goods and I loved that he treated her like she deserved. They were so cute together. Layla's self confidence issues got in the way at times, but loved watching them navigate their way to a relationship.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

My heart is so happy to be back in the world of Lovelight Farms! I was so excited to read Layla’s story after meeting her in the first two installments and love her storyline with Caleb. B.K. Borison has created one of my new favorite/always recommend series and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the complementary copy of Mixed Signals in exchange for my honest review.

Book 3 of the series can also be a standalone. You do not need to read the rest to enjoy book 3. I listened to the audiobook version of this title. The characters voices were contradicting. Female voice was southern and slurred at times. . Male. Was not southern.
I gave this book 3 stars. It seemed to go on and on. The book could have been slimmed down quite a bit and not lose the integrity of the story. I started to daydream in the middle of the story.
I did enjoy the general concept of the love story. Unsuspecting woman is frequented by man at her Bakery. It had some laugh out load moments and is a meet cute.
I received a free audio copy of this book for my unbiased opinion.

Wow! I would give this all the stars if I could! I love this series! I’ve enjoyed all 3 books, but I’m not sure if I loved this or Lovelight Farms more! I was swooning the whole time! Caleb and Layla’s love story was just so sweet. I’ve been waiting for their story since his crush on Layla was mentioned earlier in the series. Their “arrangement”/fake dating made it easy for them to be themselves and “practice” with each other. Caleb is total boyfriend/partner goals! This was the perfect combination of sweet, tension, and steam! I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration.

Having listened to the first two book in this series I was really excited to be invited to listen to the third. The premise, though been done many times before was adorable and had so much potential. Caleb, is a bit shy and awkward and has been crushing in Layla since…forever. Layla has been having a pity party for herself as all she wants is to be partnered up. Her dates have been truly horrible. She definitely needs to be more discerning and way less desperate, but that’s a separate issue. They decide to “date” for a month to help each other out. To evaluate each other to help them figure out why they both stink at dating and maybe, just maybe help each other find their forever HEA’s. Adorable and yet…Calebs family is beyond annoying, invasive and so over the top I found them truly unlikable. His grandmother and Charlie, by far the worst. I also wasn’t a big fan of the narration. The female narrator pretty much whined during the entire read and some of the accents were so over the top they were more caricature than character. For me, though clearly I am in the minority, it took away so much of the story for me. The male narrator was okay for the MC, but he secondary characters like the female narrator, created such exaggerated caricatures rather than characters that it took away the enjoyable storyline. So though I’d give the story a 3.5, the narration gets a 2. Read this one if you want to truly enjoy the cute story.

I was so excited to see this audiobook available on NetGalley after loving the first two Lovelight books! It started off so well with a fabulous dedication!

I love fake dating & absolutely loved Caleb & Layla. This Lovelight book was packed with delicious food and lots of steam! Definitely recommend picking this one up if you've read the other books in the series!

Layla works with Beckett and Stella at Lovelight Farms and manages the bakery on the farm. She has watched them both fall in love and even though she tries to find her partner, she is starting to give up on love. She was in the next town over on a date that was going horribly wrong when she runs into Caleb Alvarez who she has always had a small crush on. He also has struggled with dating and thinks that he is “too much” for most of the girls that he dates. He proposes that they date for one month where she can tell him what he needs to do better and he can make her not feel so bad about all men. They both benefit from this situation. They both did not know that the other has a crush on them. Caleb makes a trip to the bakery multiple times a week to see Layla and Layla loves when he comes to visit. As they start to fake date, they realize that they are super attracted to each other. Will they realize that or get out before

This love story was super steamy but also like a Hallmark Christmas movie. It can be read as a standalone, or it can be connected with Lovelight Farm and In the Weeds. I am obsessed with this series and have loved all their different stories.

Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison

This is book #3 of the Lovelight series in this book it focuses around Caleb Alvarez who is a ray of sunshine all the time a guy that is such a nice guy. He does community service and well he is just likable by is sweet personality. Layla who is the owner of a bakeshop goes on a date that goes real wrong and she is left to figure her way home. Caleb happens to be at the bar she is at an offers to take her home. I need to mention Caleb has it bad for Layla so bad that he goes to the bakeshop regularly to purchase cakes. Caleb drives Layla home and they talk about how both are struggling with dating because the people they date everything goes wrong. So they decide to make a pact dating each other for a month.

Now you know everything cannot stay a ray of sunshine all the time. Though there are some very steamy parts of the story you know their needs to be some angst too where things go wrong. Well Mixed Signals has a great balance of story between Caleb and Layla and steamy hot sex. What happens to the two when they start actually dating well you need to read Mixed Signals to find out. Will Caleb finally get past his nerves with Layla and confess is undying love with Caleb? Will Layla put her fears from past relationships in the past? Will Caleb and Layla have their happy ever after?

There is enough in the story to pull you in and keep you engaged in the story. I personally like Caleb he is just that sweet kind of guy that has some good looks as well. This is the first time I have read anything from B.K. Borison and it will not be my last one. I will be going back and reading the other books in the series.

Pippa Jayne and Julio Maxwell narrated this story and they did a really good job bringing Layla and Caleb to life in this story. This book can be read as a standalone even though it is part of a series. I had no problem following along. This romance was a four star read for me. When it got steamy it was steamy hot. I did not give it a five star because of some of the dialogue was annoying to me it was dragged out which for me slowed the story down. For this is the reason for the four stars. It was still a very good read and the steamy parts where really good. I would recommend this book to romance lovers who like steamy. I know some will swoon over Caleb and his ray of sunshine bubbled around him.

Mixed Signals (The Lovelight Series #3)
by B.K. Borison, narrated by Pippa Jayne & Julio Maxwell

There has to be something in the water in Inglewild (I've said this before). It seems to be something that brings together people who are right for each other but this something also seems to scramble and warp their communications skills. This time the silly couple is made up of Layla and Caleb.

Layla, who bakes the best baked goods in her bakery at Lovelight. Caleb, former deputy but now high school teacher, who shows up at Layla's bakery, like clockwork, ordering one butter croissant and coffee. Caleb has had a crush on Layla since he first set eyes on her. Layla has no faith in men because of past experience so she doesn't even notice them until she actually does start noticing Caleb.

So of course they have to make things very hard. Like why don't they fake date so they can critique each other after a month to allow each of them to be better daters? Shaking my head at these two. I like how I never have to really worry, so much of the angst is self induced and there is plenty of comfort, support, good and bad advice. No one is really alone in these stories if they will just look up and realize that others are there for them.

For those who care about these things, this story is very spicy. I prefer a fade to black or a bedroom door slammed in my face but that's not what you get here. Prepare yourself for sugary sweet and spicy hot.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ARC.

“I think I’ve been falling in love with you for a while, Layla. One butter croissant at a time.”

4.5 stars! Thank you NetGalley for this audiobookARC in exchange for an honest review!

This is such a cozy read and it just warmed my heart!! This series on Lovelight Farms is just soo heartwarming!

This was such a great story! I absolutely loved Layla and Caleb’s love story and how they found trust in each other. I love how you could feel their connection through out the story and I enjoyed how easy things were for them!

They felt so real and I just wanted the best for them :) I related so hard to Layla feeling like she doesn’t deserve the good things in life and it was nice to see the people in her life lift Layla up and support her unconditionally. You could just tell how Caleb loves others with his whole heart and how sweet of a man he was.

I absolutely loved how supportive both Layla and Caleb were of each other. Especially the baking scenes and how insecure Layla would get. Seeing that support and love just made my heart melt. I really loved when Caleb was helping Layla out.

“You tell me what you need, when you need it. I’ll be right here next to you.”
“Falling in love… Falling together.”

Not only was the romance done so well, the messages throughout made it so well rounded. This was so much deeper than I expected but it was everything I needed! Seeing Layla and Caleb both deal with rejection and insecurities but still manage to overcome them while also finding love within each other was so beautifully done.

“Falling in love. Slowly and carefully and then all at once.”

I love seeing Stella and Luka and Evie and Beckett throughout the story. Such a good read!
I cannot wait for Charlie’s book to come out!

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this audiobook ARC! This was my first read by B.K Borison and my first glimpse into the Lovelight universe. I really enjoyed this book, it was heartwarming and felt real. It had a lot of my favorite tropes as well, friends to lovers and sunshine x sunshine.

I can’t wait to read more of the Lovelight universe and from this author!

Book 3 of the Lovelight (Farms) series. Works as a stand alone.

Layla has watched her friends and business partners fall in love and she wants to find her someone. Yet she keeps getting stuck on terribly bad dates. One even leaves her at a restaurant with the bill and no ride home. Thankfully, faithful customer Caleb, happens to be at the same restaurant with his family and offers her a ride home. Caleb is also unlucky in love. On the way back, they decide to date for a month to give each other practice and pointers. But Caleb has always been attracted to Layla and has a history of falling to fast. Will he make it the full month with his heart intact?

I think a lot of people will enjoy this. Caleb is pretty perfect. I didn't love it as much as I hoped as it relies on a few tropes that tend to annoy me. This whole book wouldn't exist if they had a single conversation, lol. I still enjoyed it, but I didn't love it. Also, while the bake shop is at the Christmas tree farm, you'd barely know it without reading the previous books. I missed that aspect.

The audiobook is narrated by Pippa Jayne and Julio Maxwell. Layla is a transplant and they do not say where she grew up (it may have been mentioned in the first two books, but if it was, I forgot.) Pippa Jayne uses a much more southern accent in this book. Strangely, I liked it more. Julio Maxwell was fine unless reading dialogue. Some of that was rough to hear. Especially Charlie. Yikes.

After a string of bad dates, Layla Dupree is done trying to find Mr. Right. When Caleb Alvarez saves her from an embarrassing situation, Layla confesses her love problems to him. Caleb’s family has been pressuring him about finding someone so he suggests a “relationship of convenience” to help both of them. Layla can get some dating practice and Caleb can avoid his family’s well-meaning meddling.

Mixed Signals is the third book in the Lovelight series. While it could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the rest of this excellent series for context and character development. Mixed Signals is a small-town romance with just the right mix of spice and swoony sweetness.

Between the banter and the casual flirting, the chemistry between Layla and Caleb is there from the very beginning. There may be some pining on both sides but he definitely “falls” first. If you are looking for a buttery, heart-eyes romance, this is the book for you!

The audiobook is delightful. Pippa Jayne returns as the FMC and does a lovely job with Layla. She gives her the sweetest, lightly Southern accent. Julio Maxwell gives a swoon-worthy performance as Caleb. I could not have hoped for better narrators.

I adore the rest of the Lovelight series and had high expectations for Mixed Signals. I was not disappointed. This is my favorite book of the series. Layla and Kayla are both just painfully adorable. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I voluntarily read, listened to, and reviewed advanced copies of both the book and audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to B.K. Borison, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media!

Quick Summary: A full circle, friends to lovers romance

My Review: Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison was an unexpected treat.

About the Characters: Layla and Caleb were darling. I think they were each charming in their own way. They were so similar and yet so different. The whole premise of how they would help each other was cute. Catching feelings was inevitable. Their story was so real. Maybe that is what made it so endearing.

My Final Say: Readers who adore an underdog romance will love this story.

There are no mixed signals here on how much I love this book. BK Borinson, I am your biggest flan 🤣. Seriously, I have been waiting for this book since I met these characters in book 1. I cannot articulate the hold this book has on my heart. This author shines with every book she writes. What she can do with 26 letters and some punctuation marks is unlike any other author I have read before.

Never underestimate the power of a good looking Hawaiian shirt. Caleb is the kind of guy you dream about. He’s warm and kind and wears his heart on his sleeve, but he also has a spicy side to him that makes him more than “butter-croissant nice”. He’s unlike any other guy I have read. Layla is the girl that romance books are made of, but she’s nothing like the stereotypical “baker”. She is flawed and complex with more to her than how well she can bake a tart. She is relatable because of how authentic she is and how her internal struggles are things everyone has felt at one point or another.

This book is so good. It’s “like suddenly-buy-a-Christmas-tree-farm-and-demo-half-the-buildings invested. Binge-watch-all-of-Deadliest-Catch-after-reading-one-book-about-crab-fishermen invested.” You easily become attached to this world and these characters. And I’m beyond excited that I do not have to say goodbye to this world yet and that this author has more to come!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC

Gosh darnit, I LOVED THIS!

This may be my favorite of the series! I adored Layla and Caleb so so much - they agree to kind of like fake date, but its more like experiment date - which of course turns into more. The chemistry was amazing and honestly this book almost had me in tears at one point. I felt for these characters and just wanted them to be happy! This story was cute, funny (literally LOL'd at times), swoony, and sexy - a perfect combo if you ask me :)

Rating: 4.5 stars!

Also, the audiobook was great!!
