Things I Overshared is about a woman who is Too Much. As someone who is, according to many, many people, also too much (though unlike Sam, I am very much not an extrovert), this book rally resonated with me. Seeing someone embrace exactly who she is, even when it's uncomfortable, and finding someone who loves that she's a loud, expressive, expansive person was such a healing experience for me.

When Sam's boss backs out of a work trip to stay home with his pregnant wife, Sam takes his place--and finds herself on a month-long trip with Emerson. Where Sam is bubbly and extroverted and wears lot of fun, bright outfits, Emerson is withdrawn, cold, and very bland. But Sam is determined to become friends with him, and as the walls come down, she realizes she isn't quite who she thought he was--and he sees her for exactly who she is.

If you've ever been told or made to feel that you're too much, Things I Overshared is a wonderful reminder that being Too Much isn't necessarily a flaw--and that that voice in our mind telling us otherwise is often built from people who never really understood us.

This series of books is everything I could ever want. I cannot wait for the next installment. Kelsey is giving me all my favorite tropes in the best way!

This book picked up right from the start. I love that the whole book had me hanging on with every page. So often you find books that take too long to explain things and can leave you feeling bored. This book absolutely doesn’t do that. I almost hate how much I recognized some of my own faults in Sam but maybe that’s what made me love this book so much, being able to connect with the main character. I will say that I really didn’t like Emerson in the beginning but I know that’s the point. Boy, did he make up for all of it though. This book was fun, funny, sweet, romantic, and heart breaking during parts. I really recommend this to anyone looking for a fun romcom. It’s a little spicy but nothing too wild. It’s just the perfect amount of spice.

First, I want to sat a big thank you to Kelsey Humphries and Magnamour Publishing! for allowing me to read this ARC! I flat out loved this book. Samantha Canton and Emerson clark are two people I can relate to because, I too, sometimes feel like I'm "too much" for my friends and family to handle, but also can be anti-social and awkward and timid. Samantha Canton is everything sometimes I wish I could be. She quickly realizes that she will be going on a trip with Jack Frost himself, Emerson Clark, when her boss doesn't want to leave his newly pregnant wife for the 6 weeks that they will be abroad. The thing about Emerson aka Frosty is that he doesn't give Samantha the time of day and barely looks at her so what does anyone who is outgoing and chatty do? They come up with a plan to make Emerson want to be her friend. Spoiler alert - it kind of blows up in her face in a way I wasn't expecting. If I keep going I WILL actually spoil it but can I just say Nicole is the worst type of friend? I didn't like her from the start with the way she would nonchalantly take jabs at Sam's expense and I'm just not okay with that.

6 weeks in London and Paris can drive anyone made but of course Emerson is a man and does something to royally screw up so he grovels, and let me tell you, he grovels hard.

I never read the first book in this series but I just might have to go back to the first one to get to be acquainted more with the characters.

This story nails the enemies to lovers trope. The misunderstandings and the like that made the characters ‘enemies’ in the first place aren’t so egregious that it irrevocably taints your perception of the characters, but it’s also not so minor that it seems silly for them to get upset over. It found a great balance and even though there are (of course) a lot of predictable set-ups and cliché tropes that are natural for the genre, they felt earned and never too contrived. Even if you easily guess what is going to happen, it doesn’t feel any less rewarding when you get there. There was even one little twist that I didn’t see coming at all so it was a nice little surprise. It was also a nice subversion of tropes that Sam is ALSO rich and part of a family conglomerate. I love a poor x rich cliché couple as much as the next girl, but it was interesting and refreshing to see a workplace enemies to lovers without an overly large power dynamic.

The one minor gripe I have is there were a few instances of Sam being quite misogynistic. I hate women not supporting women, and a prevalent example was Sam mocking Miranda's (the model) figure for being skinny and betting that because of that her breasts must be fake was super rude, and she wasn’t even a morally questionable character like Chelsea. She was just an innocent bystander, one of Emerson’s friends in the grand scheme of things, so there was no need for her to cop a stray and get put down like that for no reason. Not a fan and it really sours Sam’s character as ‘seeing the best in people’ supposedly, it doesn’t fit in with the characterisation that she is being set up for.

On a more positive note many (many) group chats are actually really well done and I loved the inclusion of things like animated gifs and reaction images since that is a common form of chat communication. I especially enjoyed the absence of that cringe ‘text slang’ that no one really uses yet YA authors seemingly can’t get enough of. I really commend the author for not making me pull my hair out over texting dialogue especially given how often it was used, and it was definitely an asset to the story and building the character relationships without direct exposition.

Some stories have great prose, some have great worldbuilding, but this one was ruled by its witty dialogue and it was overall a very enjoyable read. First YA read I’ve enjoyed this much in quite a while, definitely interested in reading up on the rest of the Canton sisters and their stories in the future.

Kelsey Humphrey's nailed Things I Overshared! My face hurt from smiling with this one. This book was refreshing and relatable for those of us who word vomit when we get nervous or excited or just because. 10 out of 10 recommend!

This is the second book in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

What can I say. I loved loved the concept: grumpy /sunshine, enemies to lovers, slow burn romance.
But the main character literally has diarrhea of the mouth LOL. Her inner monologue and then what actually comes out of her mouth was...wow.

But once i got used to that, i loved this book .
Since this IS a romance, i will say spice level is 2/5. Like it's there...but if you are looking for vivid descriptions, this is not it.
I would recommend!

Next great book in this series. Sam and Emerson end up spending time together on a European business trip. He has always kept his distance but she is determined to make him crack. Will he end up breaking both their hearts though?

Looking forward to the next book in this series.

2022 has been the year of my intense craving for fluffy, happy, sweet rom-coms and Things I Overshared

HIT THE MARK!

This was so cute, so relatable and at times (between giggling) I found myslef thinking GOOD GOD I overshare all the damn time, too.

I just really clicked with this story and the characters and I cannot wait to read more from Humphreys!

While this was enjoyable, her decision to trust Nicole's advice to pull away from him was so illogical. And the third act conflict was barely explained and seemed like the silliest thing. He created an issue out of nowhere. I will admit I've been in a bit of a reading slump so that could explain why I didn't love it. I did however like that he loved her BECAUSE she was "too much" and not in spite of it. I would read another book by this author.

I really REALLY wanted to love this book. The synopsis appealed, the cover grabbed my attention and I’m a big fan of moody, brooding male characters who thaw in the company of strong, likeable female characters. But I could not gel with this book.

I think I struggled with Sam. I’m still trying to determine whether her ‘extrovert’ character was annoying or just simply her? I couldn’t fully engage with the story as I like to side with my fmc and I couldn’t do that with Sam.

I found the first 5-10% of the book difficult. I felt that if it was an audio book, the narrator would have barely taken a breath. There’s a chunk of text chat, this was challenging to read on my kindle app on my iPhone. Not sure if anyone else found this or if it’s better on an actual kindle/e-reader.

Overall, I wasn’t a fan of this book. However, that’s just my experience and others will love it. I am always grateful for the advanced copy and for the amount of time and effort that the author has committed to writing the book.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review 📚

2 ⭐️ as the bones of the story were fab and the cover is great!

I have a habit of oversharing when I meet someone I really connect with and this book reminds me of myself in this way. I loved everything about it and the characters really drove the plot home. I loved this book and cannot wait to read what is next from the author.

Extrovert Samantha Canton has been working in the New York office of her family’s card business for the past few years. She is the first to admit that she overshares, is always ready to chat with someone new and remembers little facts and details about them to aid her both professionally and to make them feel appreciated. She has been planning a six-week trip to Europe for her Sales Director boss, however, a call from one of her sisters alerts her to the fact that she’ll be heading off on the tour instead.

Whilst she is able to win over almost anyone she meets, there is one person in the office who has never warmed to her – Emerson Clark. The same man who will be accompanying her on the trip to Europe to meet with buyers, clients and suppliers. With two weeks until they leave she attempts to win the introverted CFO over in Operation Thaw but it does not go to plan. Despite her best efforts, she declares war against him, hoping that he’ll hate all the meet-and-greets that she has arranged during the trip.

Life in the spotlight has brought its fair share of tribulations for Samantha, something she attempts to push to the back of her mind. Comments from Emerson, however, have her questioning the way she behaves, the things she says etc. But she can’t stop the growing attraction she feels towards him. Can she ever get him to notice her for who she is rather than Shallow Sam who overshares too much?

Thank you Magnamour and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

AHHHHHHH I love me everything about grumpy sunshine and this book was IT! I tell ya, THIS WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED, SATISFYING MY GRUMPY SUNSHINE THIRST. THIS WAS PERFECT!

This, for those who loved The Hating Game, The Spanish Love Deception, Love on the Brain, YOU SHOULD READ THIS. Hopeless, pining grumps who are stupid, I guess that's what get us going, huh? HSHHSHSHSHSHS

Although I think not most people will love Samantha's character, I love her. She's so sunny, awkward and loveable. I don't think I could tolerate someone like her in real life, but in fiction, I love characters like that. Extroverted to the core. As an introvert, I know if I were her, I would be exhausted, but I just love her. She's amazing.

I would've loved to read Emerson's POV for more than one chapter, though. I want to read about the weeks of his grovel plan. (YES IT HAS GROVELLING THAT'S WHY I LIKE)

I LOVED IT!

This is the second book I have read in this series. The first book was Skye’s book. I loved that one! I adore the group of sisters in this series and in my opinion, they are the best part of these novels. The text messages are hilarious and when one of them gets hurt, they are right there for each other. They are part of the Canton Card empire in various ways and this often creates drama in their lives.

In Samantha’s book (this one) she takes an extended work trip with her introverted colleague Emerson. He is GRUMPY. She OVERSHARES. Luckily, they compliment each other and he can appreciate what she brings to the table. Unfortunately, he has baggage and that almost costs them everything.

Both of these characters were depicted realistically and had issues that a reader can identify with. This is what made me love this book so much. Sam and Emerson saw flaws in themselves and let those weigh them down but lifted each other up.

A great book and a great series!

Thanks to NetGalley and Magnamour for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK!! Such a fun, fluffy, romcom! This book was ADDICTING and I loved reading it soo much. I genuinely found aspects of both characters very relatable which made it so easy to enjoy the book! This book had opposites attract, workplace romance, and forced proximity! This book was super fun read because of every character involved! I do wish that we could read more of Emerson’s POV and I’m definitely not the biggest fan of third act conflicts. Still, this book was SO GOOD and I can’t wait for its release! Thank you to Victory Editing Netgalley for sending me this ARC! All opinions are my own.

Couldn't get into it, didn’t like any character, was confused about previous events multiple times and couldn’t get myself last chapter 7. Sorry, this clearly just wasn’t for me!

Wow what an amazing book!! I absolutely fell in love with Samantha's character. She is an open book and shares everything. I love that! I'm just like her and have that bubbly attitude too. I laughed out loud so much my husband thought I was crazy!! Being someone that has to explain everything I had to tell him about every laughable moment. I probably drove him nuts but it was soooo good! Emerson's character was definitely Frosty at first but loved to see when he started to melt!! If you're looking for a book that will have you laughing your butt off, blushing, smiling, get a little emotional and just make you fall in love with them this book is for you!!! Highly recommend! I can't wait for the third book to this series!!! Thank you so much for letting me read this in advanced and I can't wait to tell everyone about it!!!

Chefs kiss 💋
