As soon as I read the title, I got excited to read this book. However, it fell flat. I did enjoy some of the poems, some of them really got me thinking, but most of them felt pretty basic and nothing extraordinary. I didn't really enjoy the illustrations either.

I enjoyed this a bit more than some of the other similar things that are out there nowadays. This will certainly appeal to the demographic of readers who enjoy this style of poetry and prose.

I was disappointed in this collection of poetry. The poems themselves were pretty short and lacked depth. However, the paintings that accompanied the poems were absolutely gorgeous. I think this book would have been more successful if Vittoria had written about her physical art and the process behind the different pieces. While the artwork was beautiful, I do not think that makes this book "worth it" to read or purchase for a collection.

I really enjoyed this pro-woman collection of poems. It was nice to read poems that were about accepting yourself and that you are perfect as you are.
I also enjoyed the art that accompanied the poems. It was a great way to accent the words.
Overall just a great collection that left me feeling good!

Beautiful illustrations and wonderful poems and words to accompany them. This was a very well done read anf Amber VIttoria really does showcase her experience well and it's a very relatable one.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

I struggled with this one. It felt very shallow and superficial. I couldn't really get a feel for what the story was trying to say.

Some of these poems were incredible. some of them fell really flat. I liked how personal the book was but I did not feel like it aligned well with the accompanying art.

I enjoyed the poetry, but it felt simple in comparison to some of the other poetry books I’ve read. I’m also not sure what the goal of pairing each poem with an art piece was if they didn’t relate to each other. The art was visually appealing, but many of them didn’t connect back to the poetry to me.

I really enjoyed this collection. Vibrant, refreshing, and colorful. For fans Rupi Kaur of who like color.

Thank you netgalley for this ARC. I am leaving an 100% honest review.

Amber Vittoria poems of self worth and growth are a wonderful reminder that we are all kinda of struggling with accepting ourselves.

I also love the the the colorful images that are a bold contrast to Poems like "Please Like Me" which exposes the murky darker shades of self doubt swimming within us.

I love poetry and this book.

4/5⭐️

This poetry book is a combination of beautifully written poems and abstract art which culminate to paint a picture of the womanhood and what it means to live as a woman in today’s world.

I have gotten more into poetry this year and have come to appreciate the skill of poets and artists to paint such a vivid picture with so few words. Amber Vittoria is a prime example of this talent. Her poems put into words feelings such as a woman’s rage, self-confidence, insecurity, mental health and independence, and are accompanied by colorful abstract art to complete the picture.

The only thing I wanted more of from this book is words. I know poems look different for every poet and some are meant to be brief but I wish there had been some longer poems to really dive into the themes the author was exploring here.

That being said, it was a quick, enjoyable read that I would recommend to any poetry reader.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an open and honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC of this collection.

A lovely collection of short poems on themes related to being a young woman in 2022 and featuring some nice artwork that works alongside each poem.

I LOVED this poetry collection- my favourite was 'Just Let Me By Angry, Please'. There are so many elements of self-love, growth, feminism and the experiences growing up female. Very relatable, and funny at times too. The art next to each poem was a great touch too.

Some, not all, resonated with me as a women and as a mother. I especially loved the illustrations. The vibrant colors and shapes were a treat.

I loved this collection of relatable poems & the illustrations by the author are so beautiful, there’s quite a few of them I would love to have framed! The publisher should definitely make a hardcover, coffee table sized edition of this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

These are quite short and "simple" poems but I thought they were really powerful. There were plenty of ones that spoke to me and I could relate to. And it just gave me a little bit of positivity in a time where I need it. The added art is so fun and really makes you look twice. Overall a really good collection that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I felt something deeply raw while exploring these poems and art work. I’ve had an uphill rollercoaster this year and these poems reminded me that my feelings are valid. The art work and the naïve approach was , so heartwarming and emotional to see such strokes that are laced with feelings I’ve felt.. I just I’m speechless trying to write this review. It’s phenomenal. It’s rare. It embodies the struggles of being a female and the feelings we feel that tend to get pushed under the rug. Beautifully done. Exquisite.

The transition from poem to artwork is immaculate! The first book I have read to have such vivid artwork throughout. Such an amazing combination, would highly recommend!

A stunning blend of art and poetry that gives a beautiful insight into the agony and wonder of growing up and becoming ‘a woman’.

I personally prefer long form poetry, but these short, sharp poems still managed to pack quite an emotional punch. Combined with Vittoria’s paintings, the poems had even more depth.

This was a really lovely, emotional piece of work that I would recommend to anyone looking for a self aware glance into womanhood and growing up.

These are my big girl pants is a poetry collection composed of short poems and their painting companions. Or at least I view them as companions, I am not entire sure that they are.

I liked the idea behind these poems and some of them were pretty and enjoyable. She talks about womanhood, and growth, and learning to love and accept oneself. But the execution is a no for me. The whole poetry collection is composed of four-line poems, and whereas I usually enjoy short poems, I just don't think that's enough for a whole collection.

I think it is possible to convey a lot in a short poem and to do it beautifully, but I also think this is a fairly difficult thing to do. For instance, here is a poem of hers i liked:
Fixing my gaze
Knowing I'm not here
To be looked at,
Frees me from the need
To constantly look at myself.

As for the paintings, they are very colourful and abstract, which I personally like. I know this type or art is not for everyone, and I am not going to say I liked every single one, but for the most part, they were cool.
