Thank you NetGalley and Chouette Publishing, CrackBoom! Books for accepting my request to read and review Santa's Countdown to Christmas: 24 Days of Stories.

Author: Kim Thompson
Illustrator: Elodie Duhameau Wheeler
Published: 10/11/22
Genre: Children's Fiction

The illustrations are brightly colored and fun. The facial features and costumes are entertaining on their own.

The story tickled me. Seriously though, who would put Santa on a diet -- oops fitness plan, LOL. He is the one sacred fat man in this world.

The story was cute.

This was a very cute kids book that counts down from December 1st until Christmas. My favorite thing about this book was the pictures which were very cute. The story is basic with a few oddballs thrown in as the elves and Santa prepare for Christmas.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

Do you have any idea what it takes for the fat man to prepare for the holidays? Me neither, at least I didn't before I read this book. Granted I find some of the details a little hard to believe. Like why on Earth would they wait until December to start making toys? I like to procrastinate as much as the next person, but if I was tasked with making toys for EVERY nice child in the world, I think I'd start more than 24 days before they were due. At least knock out the generic items like bats and dolls so you have more time for the more specialized requests that start coming in after turkey day.

But for the most part this was an adorable rundown of the days leading up to Christmas that you could potentially read each night, although each day's details would not have satisfied my children as a bedtime story, because they are fairly brief.

The illustrations were bright and colorful and pretty much everything you would expect from the North Pole. Although I'm pretty sure they manufacture daylight because they definitely do not see the sun in December.

Overall I give this book 4.2 out of 5 stars.

Christmas is coming! There's so much to do, and only twenty-four days to get ready.

Join Santa, and all the North Pole residents as they scurry around preparing for the Big Day.

But, this year, Santa has a perplexing puzzle to solve; just what do you give a little boy who didn't ask for anything? (The answer will make you go, "Aww!")

Whether you and your child read this one day at a time, or all at once, it is just a delightful book. The text is packed with humor, and the jazzy, retro illustrations by Élodie Duhameau are wonderful.

This is certainly the merriest book I've read this year!

This is an interesting book. Each page is a different day of the month from December 1 to the 24th. Each day is a little mini story about Santa, Mrs. Clause, the elves, etc. If you need something short and sweet to get your kids off to sleep, a page a night would work quite well. The illustrations are pretty typical, but lovely. Overall, I find this book very interesting and I think a family could really have fun with it.

My new favourite children's picture story book for the holidays!

Santa's Countdown to Christmas is perfect for celebrating the holiday season with younger readers. With a short chapter each day of the month giving a new installment to the story of how Santa prepares for the big day, this book is sure to be popular with both kids and adults.

The illustrations fit the book perfectly and I loved the humour too. A really cute book to read with little ones this Christmas season.

Thank you NetGalley and Chouette Publishing (1987) Inc. for the opportunity to read "Santa's Countdown to Christmas: 24 Stories" in exchange for my honest review.

This book has colourful illustrations and a funny story each day for the month of December leading up to Christmas. Santa does different things on different days. He will read letters that children have sent him, elves have many toys to make in response to the letters. Santa does a fitness test to see if he's ready for the big night but he's spent the year napping and needs to get back in shape. There is an Elf named Tek who has many crazy invention starting with a GPS for the sleigh. Santa visits with pets and stuffed animals where he's supposed to do hug tests but he ends up nap testing a pile. He tests all the cookies, visits the reindeer games. He needs a new suit - he claims his old one shrunk in the wash. He also spends a part of each day thinking of the perfect gift for a little boy who asked for nothing for himself only something for his sister.

Santa needs to get in shape for his big night delivering gifts all over the world. He also needs to find a special gift for each girl and boy. How he meets his goals makes an engaging read in this colorfully illustrated, captivating book.

This delightful book is a countdown from December 1st to Christmas Eve. It’s all about the day-to-day happenings at Santa’s place in the North Pole as Santa, Mrs. Claus, the reindeer and all the elves get ready for the big day.

The book can be read in one go or day-by-day throughout December. It works very well either way, as each little story is more of an amusing moment in Santa’s life. But altogether it makes for a complete story!

Santa’s days are filled with workout sessions, reading letters from children around the world, Tek the Elf and his wacky new inventions, testing stuffed animals for huggability, tasting the Christmas baking, taking the reindeer out for exercise and lots more!

I think any child reading this book will be enchanted with all the ins-and-outs of Santa and Mrs. Claus’s lives. I know I would have been as a kid!

One of the cutest parts of the story are Santa’s expressions. He says things like “Gallopin’ gravy!” and “Cracklin’ candy canes!” There’s a different expression on each day. I love it!

I highly recommend this book for the pre-school to Grade 1 set, but honestly, I think it will appeal to some older children, too!

This is a nice story, written in the format of an Advent calendar; read one passage a day. The stories are cute and the illustrations are really nice. It's a great book to read with kids throughout December!

Santa's Countdown to Christmas by Kim Thompson, Illustrated by Elodie Duhameau was published on October 2, 2017 and is a book format of an advent calendar. Told from the perspective of Santa Claus, the storyline chronicles what Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the elves, and the reindeer do in preparation of Christmas on each day of December leading up to Christmas Day.

I'd like to thank NetGalley and Crackboom! Books for giving me a copy of Santa's Countdown to Christmas in exchange for my honest review. I was thrilled to be approved to read this book because I love Christmas and am a kid at heart.

This picture book was well written and engaging. The illustrations were phenomenal as well. I even enjoyed reading it as an adult. I wish I had kids of my own so I could buy it for them, but I guess I'll have to settle for buying for family members and friends who have kids that believe in Santa Claus. I'd recommend this book for babies through eight years old. Reading this with kids on each day of December would make for a great tradition.

Five out of five stars is what I give Santa's Countdown to Christmas by Kim Thompson, Illustrated by Elodie Duhameau.

Another fun and precious Christmas Countdown for the little ones. In the style of an Advent Calendar, this one instills some patience, giving one story a night from December 1st up until Christmas Eve, all of which tell a different story of how Santa and Mrs. Clause prepare for the holidays and the big toy delivery on Christmas Eve. From Santa’s initial fitness test, to a behind the scenes look at his toy factory, to when Santa goes to the post office in the North Pole to check his mail, to checking on the North Pole Pet Room, to lots of baking and sweet treats, and more, this one is the perfect countdown to Christmas for the kids, truly. So fun, so creative, and so sweet.

The illustrations and some of the stories are cute, but some were overly cutesie. The exclamations from Santa overdid for me. I liked the idea of the format encouraging to read one page every day leading up to Christmas. However, I felt like this specific story would have benefited from making the daily stories a little longer, or nixong the daily countdown and just make it a story about what Santa needs to prepare for Christmas.

Santa's Countdown to Christmas is a fun holiday read. Colourful, detailed illustrations and a captivating story had both my 4 and 8 year olds engaged - we read it all in one go! We will reread a passage a day in December when they have their advent chocolates. There are some definite contradictory plot points from the magic we discuss in our household (Santa doesn't start making gifts until Dec 5??) and I really don't agree with pets for Christmas.. so I am not sure if I'd buy this book as a gift for someone, but for this year my children enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the concept of the book though :)

Thank you to Chouette Publishing, CrackBoom! Books and NetGalley for this ARC!

"Tis the season to be jolly" and excited. This delightful engaging book will calm that excitement as a story unfolds each day for wee ones to enjo before the BIG Christmas event takes place. "Santa's Countdown to Christmas: 24 Days of Stories" is the perfect storytelling Advent calendar. I love the whole concept and kid's will too.

Starting December 1st kids will enjoy a wonderful story that explains how Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves and the reindeer prepare for that epic night on Christmas Eve.

Santa makes sure he is physically fit for the long and arduous journey ahead of him and kids discover what happens at Santa's toy factory.

The illustrations are colourful and detailed. The book certainly captures the atmosphere and fervour around this magical time of the year.

Happy holiday season everyone! Read your child into a joyous Christmas experience.

I enjoyed this book but I wasn't a huge fan of Santa giving pets to children for Christmas... and I have marked the book down from 5 stars to 4 stars for this, after all the advertising that a dog is for life not for Christmas I didn't really expect to see them being given as presents!! Other than that the images were lovely and the story was very easy to follow and I thought that countdown idea was great as you could read a page each evening - 4 stars from me

Unfortunately I wasn’t a big fan of this one. I like the idea of it but the story itself wasn’t engaging.

There were a few facts sprinkled in which I liked but it wasn’t consistent from day to day or page to page.

The illustrations were cute.

This just isn’t a book that I think would interest the children in my family.
