Wolf God is an intriguing set up to the story that Veronica Douglas is creating, laying down important stones to flesh out the overall I had not read her prior series, so I am sure that I was missing out on context and background for some characters, but it did not take away from the overall story.

The dual POV sets up the FMC and MMC, and I was dying for the spark to ignite for them. There is a definite slow burn theme that I am hoping we see progress in book two. Samantha is a brash and judgmental character that it sometimes made hard to connect with, where on the opposite hand I found myself loving Cadean. His character is that quintessential alpha, protective male, which was where some complaint about Sam came in when she would approve of his actions and demonize them selectively.

However, this wasn’t enough to detract from the story for me and I immediately downloaded book two to see where our enemies-to-lovers pair ends up. I also would not be entirely against Cadean finding someone more better suited to him, and if not that Sam sees a lot of character growth in the next installment.

Anything with wolves, witches, vampires, werewolves, COUNT ME IN. This book was a lovely and spectacular read, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Wow, this book is certainly a page turner! After reading the previous series I did wonder how the Wolf God could possibly be redeemable but having read this I can understand. He's still the same vicious monster who destroyed so much and many but there is a reason to it and he has his own code he lives by. Looking forward to reading the rest of the story.

A new to me series, from a new to me author, I really had no idea what to expect when I first started reading Wolf God by Veronica Douglas. At first I was a little confused - the opening of the book throws you right into the action and history of the story, and I was unsure if I'd maybe missed a previous book. (A quick Google search has revealed that there are earlier books set in this world - probably should have read those first)

Having said that, once I was in to the plot, I found this a really engaging and exciting read and it didn't matter that I didn't know the history. Samantha is our heroine, who is trying to take out the evil Wolf God, who has been threatening to destroy everything she loves (as well as possibly the world.) After a failed assassination attempt, the Wolf God (or Cadeon) takes Samantha captive in his realm until she agrees to help him lift a curse.

This is a true enemies-to-lovers story, with a great anti-hero in Cadeon. As the audience, we very quickly begin to realise that Cadeon may not be as evil as Samantha believes, and it was exciting to watch Samantha start to doubt herself too. (Even if it took far too long, in my opinion)

This is the first book in the Ruthless Gods series, and the romance really doesn't get far in this one, but there is the definite promise that feelings are going to develop in future books. I can't really say for definite how successful this series will be until I've read the rest, but this book definitely left me excited to see what comes next. Roll on Hunter's Kiss.

Wolf God is the first installment from the compelling Ruthless Gods :Wolf God trilogy.
Samantha and her pack are charged with the task of strengthening and renewing the magic walls that contain the brutal Dark Wolf God - Cadean from unleashing his wraith and annihilating Fae lands. Or so they've been thought about the Wolf God.
But for Samantha, everything changes that day, never to return to what it was.
Caught not only as Cadean's prisoner, soon she realizes that nothing is what it seems, including her…and she is dragged into the war between the Wolf God and the Fae and eventually, she has to choose a side wisely, or it could cost her life.
Intriguing world building that gives you all the information without overwhelming you.
The two main characters, Cadean and Samantha, are captivating and the fact that the story is followed through their POV's gives them both a lot of depth and character development.
Especially Samantha is strong-willed and badass but at the same time compassionate and caring.
The lovely thing is that the side characters we meet in this story are as much as colorful and captivating as our main ones, and it's hard to decide which one you like more.
The final of the book made a wonderful foundation for book two, with so many heart pounding events and so many questions for the reader to uncover.

DNF - story was interesting but writing wasn't for me. Will be looking into other titles by author though.

I had an amazing time reading this book. It is a supernatural fantasy Romance following multiple perspectives. The writing was excellent, well-paced and kept me on my toes through the whole book. The plot of this book really kept me engaged and had my full attention. I finished it so fast and could not put it down.
The main characters Samantha and Cadean were amazing, and I loved following them, their dynamics and tension between them was exceptional. It was an enemy to lovers' romance, which is one of my favorites and did not disappoint. Samantha was also such a badass and reading about her kicking some serious butt, phenomenal!
There were some great twists and revelations, and I can’t wait for more, it stopped at a big cliffhanger, and I need to know what is going to happen! Amazing action, setting, magic, and every magical creature you can think of is in this book. I highly recommend checking this first book out of a new series.
Trigger warnings: blood, trauma, gore
I received this advanced ebook, Via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.

I haven’t read any VD books before but I sure will, I really liked the story and the amount of tension involved. The female lead (samantha) is not an ideal one, with many frustrating moves, but Cadean was likeable. The pace of the book was fluctuating, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, but I enjoyed it overall. Have to read the related books now..

Rating: 4/5
Spice Level: 1/5
Tropes: Enemies to lovers, Shifter, Fated Mates.

Thank you to Netgalley for sending me a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was exactly the kind of story I needed to get me out of my reading slump. It's got everything I love: Romance, shifters, magic, & fated mates!

The relationship between Cadean and Samantha was interesting. It started off pretty rocky, but slowly morphed into something more as they spent more time together. I especially liked that there was an underlying attraction between them, but it wasn't insta lovey or the over the top/cheesy lust that is commonly shown in a lot of fated mates stories.

The power struggle between the Fae and Cadean was intriguing and I really hope that it's explored more in the next book! I also hope we get to see more of his brother, even though I'm not sure how I feel about him yet! I'm suspicious, but holding out hope that he's not 100% horrible.

It ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, which is a bummer, but I'm super excited for the next book! I cannot wait to see how everything works out for Cadean & Samantha, and for the kingdom.

Overall I would definitely recommend this book if you like paranormal romance and don't mind a cliff hanger. Also, the spice level is pretty low, but fingers crossed for more in the next one!!

**I wasn't aware that this was a spin off to a different series! I'm really excited to go back and read that one while I wait for book #2!

The Wolf Good is a strange mix of god's and fantasy characters. The romance was a bit slow and I found the plot rather predictable. Most upsetting was the ending, I knew it was part of a series, but even so ...

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Samantha defeats the Wolf God in Magic Side. To take a break, she leaves to take care of her mother in her last pack, but it doesn't all happen as planned. She is taken to the Dreamlands, the kingdom of the Wolf God. He thinks she might release him from a curse. Bargains are made and one of them is to heal him and he will free her. Is she more than a werewolf? Will he really let her go? A war between fae and the people of the dark god is going and she is in the middle. She may have the power to save him or bring him to his knee, what will she choose?

“I’ve been waiting for you, little wolf.”

I love it when people write books about secondary characters. I was happy to see back Samantha. I like her in Magic Side: Wolf Bound and I like her character even more after this book. She is strong, independent, and cares about innocent people, regardless of what side they are on. This new series is as well written as the last one. I was here for the tension between Wolf God and Sam 🔥. When something really does happen, it will be explosive 🎆. I didn't think I loved the Wolf God after his last action in Magic Side, but he melts my heart. 🫠 I felt my heart fall apart a few times with the way Sam continues to act around him. ❤️‍🩹 Sometimes, someone has to become a monster to protect his people. If you are the kind of person to love the side characters as much as the main, you will love them in this series with Mel, Rune, and Kass. I really like how Sam interacts with Kass. 🤣

In this book, you will find:
🐺Paranormal/fantasy world (Werewolf, fae, …)
💬Dual POV
⚔️Enemies-to-lovers
🔥Steamy slow burn
❤️‍🔥Fate Mate
😈Touch her and you die

You can already read the book, but I recommend reading Magic Side: Wolf Bound first. You will learn more about the event that led to this narrative.

One word: Tension. Oh my goodness it was coming off the pages, the tension between Cadean and Samantha starts from the very beginning and I was here for it. I will admit that is what hooked me from the start. This book was enjoyed.

This story is a little predictable at times but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sam's a wolf on Magic Side that was able to injure the Dark Wolf when he attacked their home. And ever since the Dark Wolf has been keeping an eye on her, slowly becoming obsessed. He's convinced she's the key to healing him and decides to take her as his prisoner.
The love hate relationship with Sam and Caden, the friendship Sam makes with Selene and Melanthe, and sam defending the dreamlands were my favorite parts. Sam had a rough life but she's still so selfless and willing to speak her mind.
This story ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger and I can't wait to devour book 2 when it releases 😊

This book blew me away. I loved the tension main characters had, loved the story, loved the magic and worldbuilding and loved the interesting plots and turns!
If you're into enemies to lovers with a bit of spicy and a great fantasy story, this is the book for you!

Wolf God was a new spin on where humans, wolves and the land of the fae come together. This book had a lot of world building with a great pot line. There is also some great spicey scenes.

Samantha is a werewolf whom is captured by the Wolf God. She finds that her abilities are unique and what’s worse is the Wolf God is the only one who can help her unlock them. Tensions rise and it’s not known if Samantha will continue to find him the enemy or perhaps something else entirely.

I would rate this a three out of five. Samantha, the main character was a difficult character to relate to and invest in but I loved everything else about this book!

This Ebook was provided by Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The story was action-packed. Romance was on the slow-burn side, which I enjoyed.

Samantha was frustrating at times, but I had a better understanding of her as a character because of the previous series. If I had read this story as a stand-alone without prior knowledge, I would've been annoyed. I'm hoping for more romantic development between Samantha and Cadean in the next book. I'll be reading the rest of the "Wolf God" series.
