As someone who avoids confrontation, it was fun reading from the point of view of Frankie, who says the quiet things I think out loud! The Revenge List is about Frankie, a woman who has lived a life of tragedy and disappointment. After an incident at her work, her boss (and father) recommends she attend an anger management program. One of the first exercises the group does is make a list of all the people in their lives that they need to forgive. However, the people on Frankie’s list start having accidents and Frankie starts to wonder if someone has taken her list and turned it into a revenge list. The only problem, is her name is also on that list.

The plot of this book is pretty interesting. There are a ton of twists and turns in this book. Some of the things that Frankie does I found a little cringy and not anything a normal person would do, but that is perhaps the point. It was a quick, enjoyable read and I will check out more books by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Great book! Wow! What a crazy story! I actually wasn't too sure about this book in the beginning but boy oh boy did it get going! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, revenge, murder, mystery a great who done it which I did figure out pretty early on, not sure if it was obvious or just me thinking things out lol The storyline was very very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! The characters were awesome I loved how the main character flaws were I guess flawed lol I felt bad for her at times but also thought she brought a lot of it upon herself?! I mainly agreed with most of the way she handled things whether right or wrong. Definitely don't miss out on this one! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I love Hannah Mary McKinnon’s creative mind! It was very nice to meet with Frankie Morgan! She is ticking bomb! Her quick tamper frequently takes over the driving seat, putting her into most inconvenient positions! She’s not Karen type obnoxious angry lady! She seems like regular Aries woman with less control issues! ( I could relate with her. It takes one to know one)

In the beginning you get irritated with her aggressive manners. But as you keep learning more about her past and unfair incidents she has been dealing for years and the cruelty, biased judgments she has to endure, you learn to empathize with her! In my opinion: most of the people can throw the towel in her shoes. I honestly loved her! It seems like it will be a long term relationship because the ending of the book and some loose ends promise us a sequel!

The plot was smart and unique. Frankie, in early thirties, working at the construction company of her father, sent to anger management program. Her mentor Geraldine is her father’s close friend (probably more than that)! The main reason of her joining to the program related with a customer. Frankie insists he sexually harassed her ( of course she didn’t stop! She humiliated the man in front of people!) but there’s no witness and it’s typical he said she said situation. Even her own father doesn’t seem to believe in her. He directly sent her daughter to this program as a way to apologize from their precious customer.

Frankie is boiling. As a task of the program she makes a list of the people she has to forgive for moving including her harassing customer, high school bully, the college nemesis, a mysterious man named Adrian Costas who ruined her life, her obnoxious neighbor, her back stabbing colleague, her father( she is definitely harboring resentment for a long time) her counselor Geraldine, another mysterious man called Shay, the driver of hit&run who took her mother’s life and her own name! This is her sh*t/ revenge list!

After her abruptly ending for coffee break session, she realizes somebody stole her list! And things start happening to the people at the list like unfortunate accidents and assaults!
Could Evan; the hot guy she met at the session be related with those incidents? She caught him snooping around her bag, holding her driver license. He even accepted he stalked her for a while! If it’s not Evan, who is watching her?
After learning a crucial detail about Frankie’s past, you may easily predict the perpetrator’s identity!

I mostly enjoyed Frankie and her journey to forgive the people who ruined her life more than the mysterious punisher storyline!

The semi- open ending gets my hopes up with a possible sequel! I don’t say no to spend more hot blooded Frankie time!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing/ MIRA for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Did you ever hear of stop, drop and roll?

What about stop everything you are doing and read!!!

That is exactly how I felt when I received the approval e-mail for one of my favorite authors of all time, Ms. Hannah Mary McKinnon!!!!!!

Not only is McKinnon a complete rockstar when it comes to delivering knock out thrillers but she is also one of the sweetest people I have ever (virtually) met. I have bookstagram to thank for making the connection between the two of us.

Now, onto the Revenge List.

Lets first talk about this title. Does it not get you thinking? What kind of revenge? scorned lover? friend turned enemy? neighbor? I knew as soon as I heard the title that I HAD to have this book.

Patience is NOT a virtue when it comes to the anticipation of waiting for an approval on one of your most sought after books of 2023.

So as I constantly checked, and checked again, I finally received my e-mail yesterday morning!!!! WOOHOOO!!

The first thing I did was tell my supervisor I wasn't feeling good, then I high tailed it out of this joint to put some comfy clothes on and settle down with my book. My unsuspecting husband still busy at work, clueless to the fact that I would be abandoning making dinner and all household chores (sorry babe!!)

It was worth it

Did you expect me to say anything less? This is Hannah Mary McKinnon we are talking about right here.

This book right here is fantastic. I had chills up my spine, my teeth clenched closed and I was afraid to breathe. Is it humanly possible for such a sweet woman to come up with these dark plots? Somehow, it is, and I am SO here for it!

Prepare yourself for a jaw dropping twist you will never see coming. This right here is a book of the year. I can say that with 100 percent certainty and we are only 5 days into the new year.

5 stars! No, 10 stars!

You do not want to miss this one, I promise you, pre-order the book and thank me later.

Teaser :

They say life flashes before your eyes when you’re about to die. But all she could see was regret.

The people in Frankie Morgan’s life say she’s angry. Emotionally stunted. Combative. But really, who can blame her? It’s hard being nice when your clients are insufferable, your next-door neighbor is a miserable woman and the cowardly driver who killed your mother is still out living it up somewhere.

Somehow, though, she finds herself at her very first anger-management group session—drinking terrible coffee and learning all about how “forgiveness is a process.”

One that starts with a list.

Frankie is skeptical. A list of everyone who’s wronged her in some way over the years? More paper, please. Still, she makes the pointless list—with her own name in a prominent spot—and promptly forgets about it…until it goes missing. And one by one, the people she’s named start getting hurt in freak accidents, each deadlier than the last.

Could it be coincidence giving her the revenge she never dared to seek…or something more sinister?

If Frankie doesn’t find out who’s behind it all, she might be next.

"𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧, 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐞." 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐈 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭? 𝐀𝐬 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐧, 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭.

Now this was a protagonist I could relate to. People tell Frankie Morgan she's angry. People used to tell me the same. Fifteen years ago my father died of cancer a year after he retired. Worked all of his life, and for what? I was sad, yes, but the emotion I felt most of all was rage. It directed everything I did. It wasn't until I threw my keys at a car that nearly plowed into me at a grocery store crosswalk and loudly, publicly berated the driver in a profanity-filled rant that I realized I needed help.

If you're old enough to have seen the Michael Douglas movie Falling Down, you will understand and empathize with Frankie's character. Her life has been a series of disappointments, each a little worse than the one before, that have all ultimately led her to the dead-end life she feels she's leading today. Urged by her father, Frankie reluctantly attends an anger management class, rolling her eyes at the phrase "forgiveness is a process."

Frankie begins making a list of everyone she needs to forgive, but the list has a "Burn Book" quality to it. For each name she adds, she sheds some light into why that person's name is on the list. She even adds her own name for reasons unknown, and after meeting for coffee with a participant in the group, her list goes missing. And then the accidents begin...one by one, each name on the list suffers a freak accident. After the first, Frankie chalks it up to an accident; the second; it's a chilling coincidence; but when it hits the third, she knows someone is targeting the people on her list, and she is terrified that she will become a victim herself.

This book was absolutely riveting, and I loved the layers to Frankie's personality. She was someone I could absolutely relate to, and as she elaborated on each person who had wronged her, her personality became that more refined and developed. The ending made me scream in astonishment, and that's all I'm going to say about that! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Mira Books/Harlequin Trade Publishing for this early read. THE REVENGE LIST publishes May 23, 2023.

Frankie Morgan, a reluctant member of an anger management therapy group, lives her life burdened by many regrets. Her anger has damaged her relationships with her father, brother, potential, clients, etc. and has recently escalated to an arrest for assault.
Hoping to,change, she decides to try the therapy exercise assigned in her first anger management session. Write a list of everyone who she believes has wronged her in some way. Even though she sees it as a pointless task, Frankie will try anything to get her life and career back on track.
When her list mysteriously goes missing, she promptly forgets about the exercise until one by one, the people named on her list begin to suffer freak accidents.
Is this coincidence or has someone decided to take care of Frankie’s “problems” for her, once and for all?
This is an excellent thriller. What I initially thought to be a quite readable but probably forgettable suspense novel/mystery, turned out to be something highly original - especially after a curve ball came from out of nowhere, throwing the novel into an entirely different stratosphere. Great concept, this can’t put it down novel was excellent. Wrapping up nicely but also leaving the door open for a potential sequel.

The Revenge List has an original plot that is fast-paced and intriguing. Frankie Morgan has anger issues from trauma in her past which make her a vulnerable and conflicted character. She attends anger management therapy where she writes a "forgiveness" list. Instead, it turns into a revenge list and soon these people start getting hurt. But who had access to the list and why are they taking matters into their own hands?
I LOVED the concept of this book! I liked the writing and the characters. However, Frankie makes some questionable choices and the person behind her "revenge list" is very predictable.
Still, solid three stars!

I knowwww that I say this is my favorite book by this author but seriously, I don’t know how HMM will be able to top herself after this one. Frankie is my new vulnerable and lovable/prickly bestie. This book has everything you want in a domestic suspense thriller. Family drama ✅ Emotional issues ✅ lots of gasping ✅ throwing my hand over my mouth ✅ ✅ ✅
Also first person perspective and lots of second guessing oneself!
