The Revenge List is a thriller about an angry woman, Frankie, who creates a revenge list, leading to attacks and eventually murder. The plot is initially intriguing but becomes predictable as the reveal tease approaches. While it is good on a popcorn thriller level, the expectations are too high. The book has some fun parts, including nods to Lisa Unger, but the ending and final chapter are ridiculous. The book is readable but has high expectations. An ARC of the book was received in exchange for an honest review.

The Revenge List is certainly a wild ride and totally entertaining. Believable? Not so much. Over the top. Definitely. Super fun. Heck yes!

Frankie is such an angry character. And while that's kind of the point of the book and she arguably has good reason to be, it made for a tedious and often aggravating read. I listened to this novel on audio which probably didn't help that fact. The narrator was good but it was very much acted in full and the tension and rage totally gave me anxiety!

I didn't exactly guess things correctly with this novel - which is always fun - but I also wasn't totally off base. There are quite a few storylines that merge together which was a pro and a con. It helped keep me guessing and a little off track, but it was also just a lot. I was glad with how things all came together though there was one aspect of the end that I really could've done without.

Overall, this was highly entertaining and would totally make a great movie. If you want something fast-paced, thrilling, and that will really rile you up, I definitely recommend.

Thank you to Mira Books and NetGalley for the copy.

The Revenge List is a solid thriller with a likable character and plenty of twists and turns. Morgan works for her father's construction business and is required to attend anger management sessions. But she locks eyes with a stranger, her notebook goes missing (the one where she wrote down names! gasp!), and this kicks off the rest of the book. She searches for the notebook and tries to figure out who took it before people on the list are harmed. This was not my favorite book by the author, but I did enjoy it.

This book was a bit of a miss for me coming in at 3 stars.
Frankie was a character that I hated at the outset, but it seems like that is part of the plan for the book. I did appreciate her growth throughout and was curious to get to the bottom of her missing journal and the revenge list that lies within so I kept going. In the end though the payoff wasn't as great as I had hoped for and it didn't make up for the repitition that Frankie's character and the journal seemed to thrive off of in the reading of the book.

Great premise and cleverly written.
Reading how the names on « the list » were tied to Frankie’s life was fun.
A few predictable moments for me but also some surprises.
Although I could « the » cliffhanger coming I LOVED it all the same.
I truly enjoy this author and would recommend this to friends for sure.

‘The Revenge List’ was another great thriller I couldn’t put down! When Frankie attends anger management therapy sessions (at the request of her dad) she meets a boy and they get coffee together. When her notebook goes missing and she finds him digging through her purse, Frankie’s life gets more hectic than she could have ever imagined! Great read, I would recommend to anyone!

This book was one wild ride. Morgan is required by her father to attend anger management sessions held at a local church. Little does she know that her life was about to change in a way that no one was expecting. After locking eyes with a good looking stranger, a date, and a lost notebook, bad things start to happen to those who had the misfortune of having their name written down. She then has to go on a journey to find out who took her journal and why the people on the list in there are being harmed. This is a quick, easy read and will definitely keep you on your toes. There is hardly a slow moment before another bit of drama happens. If you enjoy quick thrillers, this is a good book to pick up.

Overall, this was a quick read that kept me guessing for the first 3/4 of the book. Once we had the reveal I could guess the ending. I'm not sure I liked the cliffhanger ending. I usually like mysteries wrapped up at the end.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

I’ve read a couple of Hannah Mary McKinnon books and enjoyed them and when her publicist reached out about The Revenge List, I immediately accepted the book. It sounded good!

But have you ever read a book when you are so tense from the shit show that a main character is making of their life that you need a massage? That is how I felt about Frankie. Sure, her take no BS approach to life- especially when dealing with men, ok, I could get behind that. But every time there was some tension, a scene that where if Frankie would have backed off a bit, that could have been defused- I was begging her to NOT keep pouring gasoline on on the fire that was her life. Literally telling my Kindle “Walk away, Frankie, walk away.” Of course Frankie being a character in a book, she did not listen.

What I Liked:

I like the cover. It’s got enough mystery about it to keep me intrigued.

The idea of a revenge list. I loved that part of the plot.

The ending. I absolutely loved it.

Bottom line: Frankie is a character I am not soon to forget.

I loved the premise of this book- Frankie joins anger management and the assignment is to write a list of people she needs to forgive in her life. When the list is stolen, the people she named start getting hurt and she quickly realizes that someone is taking revenge on her behalf.

I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book and didn't see many of the twists coming! I love when I can't predict the ending of thrillers.

After having read Never Coming Home and finding it an enjoyable and deviously written thriller, I was really looking forward to The Revenge List, which sounded very intriguing! I was completely bummed out by this story because I found it extremely boring and Frankie very annoying. The deviously delish part I was hoping for comes without surprise and so far at the end of the story that it just fell flat.

I thought this book had a creative premise, however, it fell flat for me. I loved that it was set in Portland, I've always wanted to go there. Frankie the FMC has issues regulating her emotions and when she goes to anger management she is told she should make a list of people who have wronged her as a means to forgive them. Unfortunately, this list goes missing and becomes a revenge list and the people on the list start experiencing "accidents" Frankie desperately wants to find who took the notebook in hopes of stopping the killer.

I found Frankie to be insufferable. I found the plot to be good, but just slightly ridiculous at times. I did enjoy it but it just didn't stick out to me.

Frankie makes a forgiveness list of all the folks who have wrong her in her life. She then loses the notebook that she wrote all the names in.
Soon everyone on the list starts getting hurt in drastic ways. Frankie can't understand who is harming all of these people
Are they trying to set her up?
Is there a reason? A connection?
Frankie must race to find out who is harming the folks on her list, because she put her dad's name on that list as well

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc of this book.
In this novel we meet Frankie Morgan who has anger management issues. Frankie meets Evan who is another member of the anger management group that she joined after an incident with a co-worker. Frankie and the other members of the group are charged with creating a list of people that have wronged them and why they are still angry with them. When she returns home after getting a ride from uber she can't find her notebook with her list inside. Then the people on her list start having accidents and she believes that it's Evan and goes to confront him and ends up pushing him against a glass door by accident. Frankie then starts looking for the other people on her list including the father of her son that she gave up for adoption when she was 14. Frankie later finds out that her son who know goes by Jonathan is behind the attacks and wanted to help her and wanted her to love him. Four months later Frankie is celebrating her thirty fourth birthday and gets her list back tapped together with the words good luck on your new job after believing her son died in the sea after trying to drown them. Then she remarks that next time she will be ready and he will lose.

I could not put this one down, wanting to get to the bottom of why the FMC was so very angry. The Revenge List included a heroine that was definitely
damaged, complex and carefully developed. Throughput the book you find out why and I found it to be the perfect edge-of-your-seat thriller, filled with intricate plot twists and finishing up with the ultimate WTF ending.

The whole idea of a revenge list intrigued me. I knew to be on the lookout for a twisted ending, after all, that's what the Queen of endings does - she twists them and they're always a surprise to me.
I'm not the type of person who likes to figure things out - although I know a lot of readers are like that. I prefer to enjoy the ride the author takes me on and this ride on The Revenge List was...curvy.
It starts off with someone with obvious anger issues. Did this make me like the character more or less? Honestly, I wasn't sure - she was very flawed and I wasn't sure if I was going to like her or not. Let's be honest - she made a lot of stupid decisions that cost her more than she could afford.
One thing the author did brilliantly was the creation of her characters - we're not always supposed to like them, but we are supposed to have emotions for them, and Frankie brought out a lot of emotions in me.
The twists and turns - I'm being honest when I say I didn't see them. Most authors would have started out with a safe path and maybe twisted some of those paths to bring conflict, but every single twist and turn, it became obvious there were no safe paths.

Do I recommend? Absolutely!

I just love Hannah Mary McKinnon. Such drama-filled, twisty, flawed character-driven storiessss. I'm a lifer. This one was no exception. Don't sleep on HMM!

I really liked the main character and her anger, as it is a large part of the book. However, this book was very middle of the road to me. Frankie, the main character was the only character that I liked. I felt like the whole plot of the novel was very basic and that I had seen or read it many times before. I could also see a few of the twists coming. The writing was okay. This book was good but not great, okay but not terrible.
