Really liked this book and didn’t see the ending coming at all. The last 25% of the book was very fast paced. The only thing I didn’t like was the main character. She was kinda of annoying. Still really enjoyed the book

The Revenge List starts out with Frankie, having a history of anger issues and not dealing with it well, being talked into going to an anger management group by her father. Frankie has her reasons for being mad at the world. She has a terrible next-door neighbor who makes her life miserable, the person who hit her mom with a car and killed her has never been located, and her work clients are awful people.
During the initial group session, she is instructed to write down a list of people who have angered her and why. She accidentally leaves this list in her rideshare at the end of the night and decides to forget about it. However, each person on her list starts getting hurt in terrible accidents, and Frankie remembers she put her own name on the list. What does this mean?
This was a slow burn thriller that pieced everything together in the end and was very enjoyable.

This book is a delightfully propulsive thriller as well as a fascinating character study that is cleverly layered into the plot. Frankie Morgan is a complex character, a motherless young woman who is still dealing with her loss while also trying to carve out her future in her father’s construction business. Unfortunately, she is also a very angry and bitter young woman whose mouth and actions get her into trouble with her father who coerces her into joining an anger management class. The class seems to be a good place for Frankie to start dealing with her issues, but instead it creates more problems for her. One of her class assignments was to create a list of people that she needs to forgive. When an unknown person gets hold of her list, the fallout is obvious because the people who hurt Frankie are now on some kind of revenge list and keep falling prey to
“accidents.” Frankie, ever the conscientious daughter, notices what is happening and is determined to find out who took her list and is using it to avenge her, without her approval. The plot is complicated, twisted and filled with suspense. There are tons or red herrings since the story is expertly crafted to keep you reading and totally engaged. This book is addictive and is a terrifyingly brilliant as Frankie is led from one possible suspect to another and the intrigue just gets more intense. I thoroughly enjoyed the multi-layered and well-crafted plot, but the surprise ending was worth reading this unputdownable and fast-moving suspense. Fans of page turners that are edgy and crackling with tension will enjoy this book, especially getting to know the dynamic characters who are realistically flawed and relatable.

Frankie is a mad woman. She's angry all the time because of the hard hits life has given her. She basically can't get through any conversation or meaningful task without losing her temper or control of her emotions in general. A project manager for her dad's construction company, she can't even keep her employment completely stable. Her dad insists she attend anger management therapy, where she writes what she thinks of as a "revenge list." As she bull-in-china-shops her way through this story while also illustrating how some fiction-world humans are impervious, the people on her list start getting messed up. Some of them get murdered.

The premise of this book is awesome. Honestly, the creativity of the plot outshines the execution in many areas, but is actually strong enough to carry the book. Who's off kilter enough to steal someone else's therapy homework and use it as a hit list?! This is the question that kept me turning the pages.

But I wasn't a fan of Frankie's character progression, of which there was very little. We don't get enough of the other characters to consider any of them developed, either. I didn't find the ending surprising so much as unlikely. The longer it went on, the less I believed it. And then, after being perfectly awful for an entire book, Frankie gets everything she wants.

Or does she? So now there's this cliffhanger. Which I'm not a fan of. Books should at least resolve the primary conflict.

Frankie Morgan knows she has anger issues – a fact both family and associates don't hesitate to bring up, citing incidents where her outbursts have landed her in trouble(not that she needs reminding!). To appease her father, who is also her employer in the family construction business, and in an attempt to get a grip on her temper, she voluntarily enrolls herself in an anger management program. As part of an exercise in the group, she is asked to make a FORGIVENESS LIST – a list of people whom she believes have wronged her. Frankie harbors her share of grudges – from the person who killed her mother in a hit-and-run accident when she was a teenager, to people from her school and college days, and her present life. Oh yes, she is also angry with herself! (Not surprising, she does have anger issues!) The result is an exhaustive list that she diligently compiles in her spiral-bound notebook which she subsequently misplaces. (Coincidence or not?)

Eventually the notebook is recovered but when one after the other people from her list is injured in freak accidents. Frankie realizes not only has someone read her list but is actively hunting down the people she has named and is hurting them. Her FORGIVENESS LIST has now become a REVENGE LIST – and there is someone out there exacting revenge for all the injustices Frankie has suffered. How long before Frankie or someone close to herself becomes the next victim?

The Revenge List by Hannah Mary McKinnon is a well-written suspenseful thriller. After a thrilling start, the somewhat uneven pacing took a while to get used to but I did like that the protagonist is characterized as a strong, smart woman who knows how to hold her own in both her professional and personal life. Initially, it is difficult to sympathize with Frankie. However as the narrative progresses and we gain some insight into her past, we begin to understand her better. The mystery angle is well executed. Though I was pretty sure of who the culprit might be around the 60% mark, I did enjoy the thrilling ride to the end.

Overall, I found this twisty, cleverly crafted thriller to be an enjoyable read and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Frankie has anger management issues that stem from the loss of her mother at a pivotal time in her life and cemented by a piece of her history that has been lying dormant in the back of her head for the past two decades.

So what if, as a form of healing, Frankie makes a list. A forgiveness list that MAY just be the people who have hurt her and MAY just look a tiny bit like a revenge list…..

Problem is, the list disappears and then people start getting hurt……

That’s all I’m going to say about this one. Perhaps go in blind to it all.

The thrills in this one are interwoven with fear and forgiveness. Hannah puts one foot on the emotions and another on the storyline which will leave you trying to find which way is up and how will her own story end.

Final thoughts: Quick thriller. Not my favourite of hers but dang good.

Anger has been Frankie's trademark for as long as she can remember.

She flies off the handle about everything, but she has her reasons which become apparent as the book continues.

Her latest outburst has her father who is her employer demanding she attend anger management classes.

The class doesn't turn out to be good for her because she has an altercation with one of the other members in the class.

The class starts something that has Frankie worried.

The first assignment in the class is to make a list of those people you should forgive.

Frankie said under her breath that she needs more than one sheet of paper.

She did make her list in her favorite notebook but somehow loses the notebook.

She does find the notebook, but the names on the list include people who are having accidents some of which are worse than the others.

Can this really be happening?

Did someone find her list of names and use that list to harm everyone for Frankie in retaliation for what they did to her?

She is sorry she made that list and tries to find who could possibly be doing this...her name was on the list too.

Will she be one of those harmed too?

Why does she feel someone is following her, and why do they keep sending her sunflowers?

Sunflowers were on the front cover her notebook…a coincidence?

Even though Frankie is loud and outspoken, you will fall in love with her once you find out about her life past and present.

Enjoy this thriller with a feisty main character who takes all kinds of risks and who you won't forget.

The ending will blow you away - and it looks like there may be a sequel coming? 5/5

The Anger Management class Frankie Morgan attends in this novel, however, instructs her to make a list of those who have wronged her - a particularly valuable list to possess for one with anger issues, n'est-ce pas ?

Although one might readily guess the direction this particular boat is sailing, remember, the REAL fun is the journey.

If you live vicariously through revenge novels (as I do) you won't be able to resist The Revenge List by Hannah Mary McKinnon. As I will readily admit that "my name is Jen and I am a revengeaholic" therefore I certainly couldn't pass by it without giving it a little R&R (read and review). I read 10-12 police procedurals and/or domestic thrillers a week, and I am happy to report that the Revenge List was every bit as delish and imaginative as I hoped!

We "are only human, born to make mistakes" (heads-up, 80's fans, I KNOW you are out there) and you never know which of us have hidden triggers (based on dramas and/or traumas in our past) stored deep within us that will cause us to rise up and take a BITE outta someone who has wronged us, so let that be a cautionary tale directed to all the MEAN girls and boys out there).

First book I've read from this author, but it won't be my last!

Unfortunately my life kinda went sideways midway through this book and I'm just not in a place where I can read about an angry character. However, I think this is a unique pov and interesting story. 5 stars for DNF as I cannot comment on the overall quality of this book.

THE REVENGE LIST is deftly plotted and deliciously deceitful. Told with McKinnon's signature wit, this novel is both sinister and humorous—she takes anger management to a whole new level.

Although this is a slow and suspenseful burn, it absolutely explodes at the end. Hannah is the queen of shocking finales and this is no exception.

Dark, suspenseful, keep you on your toes thriller. Hannah Mary McKinnon has a way to pull you into the pages and she doesn’t disappoint with The Revenge List. A creative story that makes you want to read in one sitting!

The synopsis sounded great, but I struggled to get into the story or to care about Frankie, so this was a DNF at 50%.

Many other reviewers really enjoyed this book, so I wouldn’t discourage McKinnon’s fans from checking it out even though it didn’t work for me.

AMAZING. loved loved loved this one!! This was my first Hannah Mary McKinnon and will not be my last. I was hooked from the beginning and loved this whole reading experience.

Slow burn for me. Hard to keep my attention. I gave it until about 1/4 way in and couldn't finish. I like a story that grabs you from the start, I was hopeful but this book just wasn't it.

HMM never disappoints! She has become such a favorite! The Revenge List is one of my favorite reads of the year already. Full of twists and turns, jaw-dropping bombs and a hold on to your seat ending! Thank you so much!

Hannah McKinnon, writes a fresh, creative, and compelling read with “The Revenge List.” Frankie Morgan, our protagonist, is likable, troubled, and has anger issues. I do believe we can all relate at one time or another with her.

The story goes, Frankie, must attend anger management classes due to an outburst with a customer at the company she works for. This company, owned by her father, is where she is ‘supposedly’ harassed by a customer, now no one believes her, including her father, so he sends her to a class.

Frankie does not take well to this class, and it has her simmering like a boiling pot. The class requires you to make a list and forgive those who wronged you or angered you. Frankie, isn’t really into it, of course. Her hot temper makes her aggressive and uncooperative. However, Frankie, begins noticing that those listed on her list are meeting with mysterious accidents and assaults.

So what do we have here, a Punisher? As Frankie, delves into the “who” she is also trying to forgive others. This is a long journey for Frankie. For the most part, I enjoyed Frankie’s journey. However, at times she was frustrating and irritating. The Punisher aspect was well done, and did not take over the whole story. The story was taut with both storylines and very entertaining.

The ending was not neatly wrapped up in a bow. I’m not sure if that was intentional on the author’s part or not. It begs the question, another book with Frankie? Hannah McKinnon is a clever, and quirky writer, that writes an engaging story.

I cannot believe how much I disliked the main character of this book. Frankie's first reaction to almost everything was unreasonable anger. I didn't understand it and couldn't accept it and, ironically, it made me angry at Frankie for being such a jerk. I know characters like that are enjoyed by some readers but I am not one of them. After pages and pages of Frankie's rage and accusations and dishonesty, every poor relationship she had was resolved in the last two or three chapters. The turnarounds were so sudden they didn't leave me feeling satisfied.

Frankie, having dealt with a lot of trauma that she hasn't worked through, is very angry. In her anger management group, she creates a revenge list and while for most of us this can be a useful fantasy way of working through stuff. Someone seems to be hurting people on her list. Many suspects, a little on the melodramatic/unrealistic side, but she also grew on me as a character as she stumbled her way through life. Could open up discussions about anger and how it damages us to hold onto it for my students
