Holy cannoli!!! Well that isn’t what I was expecting! This author really knows how to throw me off the tracks. I was so sure I knew early on what was happening but nope.

I really liked the narrator and her ability to differentiate the characters.

In typical Frieda McFadden form, another quick read. I listened to this in 1 sitting, I couldn’t put it down.

I had thought I had the twist figured out from the first 20%, but I was so wrong! I love that no matter now many of her books I read, she still comes up with something new and shocking!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

My primary reading fare, for the past twenty years has been domestic suspense thrillers such as Ms. McFadden's latest offering. I read an average of 5-8 books a week, and this novel is FLAWLESS,

I cannot convey how much fun I had reading this novel, and how rapidly I missed looking forward to reading more when I completed it (within the same day).

Tightly written, with amazingly interesting well thought out character development, this novel is multi-faceted, at times a gothic novel about a haunted house, at other times a book about a professional woman facing modern daily demands and a plethora of challenges, at other times a romance.

Even if you ARE SURE you have this one "figured out" stick with it; I guarantee that you do NOT. This was the very best book of this genre I have ever had the pleasure to read (and the heat is turned up so gradually you won't feel the water boiling until it is too late).

Kudos and THANK YOU Netgalley and ESPECIALLY MS MCFADDEN for this wickedly delicious offering - I try to read every book you write, and this novel is PERFECT!

I thought I was so smart and had the whole book figured out... until everything was turned upside down and everything I thought I knew was not even close to being the case! This book blew me away! This is my first book by the author but it will definitely not be the last! I listened to the audiobook which was done so well - the narrator definitely brought out the tension and emotions of each moment - it was so good!!

The narrator was pleasant to listen to.

This is the 2nd book I have read by this author. I thought I guessed what was going on. It was a nice quick book that kept my interest the whole way through. I will be looking forward to another McFadden book in the future.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher/producer for the advance audio.

Never Lie was a great read by Freida McFadden. Tricia and Ethan are newlyweds that are searching for the house of their dreams. The visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne Hale. She was a renowned psychiatrist that vanished without a trace four years before their visit. They never thought a violent winter storm would trap them in the estate with no chance to escape. Tricia happens upon a secret room in the house when she is looking for a book to keep her entertained. There are audio transcripts from each patient she has ever interviewed. Tricia listens to the cassette's and learns what lead to the doctor's disappearance. The final cassette is the one that reveals the entire horrifying truth. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

I went into this one with not much hope after reading some reviews on it – and I am glad that I was forewarned about this one – especially the cashmere.

This one just didn't do it for me... it was predictable, and just simply not enjoyable. I followed through on it in hopes that it might actually get better, but it did nothing for me. I didn't feel anything for the main characters, everyone was a little slimy so I had no sympathy for any of the situations. Sorry for everyone who did enjoy it, but it was just not one for me.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley for an honest review.

What can I say about Freida McFadden books? They are fast reads and you should expect a twist or two. I have listened to a few of her books now and they keep you interested throughout. This book had an intriguing plot line. I like when she has two story lines going at the same time that intertwine. I think of her books I have had time to listen to, this one is my favorite. I did suspect who the one character was, but it didn't take away from the story telling. Some of the internal dialogue is interesting in how it misleads the reader, but I can't say why without giving things away. I would say give it a try and see if you can figure it out. The narrator was pretty good as well.

This story is over the top but well worth it. There were so many twists and turns that I never knew what to think. This was a fresh take on a psychological suspense trope.

Wow! That was totally twisted, and I loved every creepy minute of it. I thought I had completely guessed the twist, but the actual twists were unexpected even though the author provided subtle clues throughout the fast paced plot. I enjoyed how the story was told by alternating POVs and the taped sessions of Dr. Hale. I always enjoy how Freida McFadden adds just enough “crazy” to all of her psychological thrillers. This is over the top, extremely suspenseful and utterly addictive. The narrator Leslie Howard expertly brings the characters to life while adding an element of intrigue and intensity. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads. I thought that I figured out the plot and how the characters were connected but I was totally wrong. I usually hate being wrong, but this time it was a welcomed feeling!
I enjoyed this one just as much as I enjoyed reading The Inmate. This book did have a different narrator but her voice was still enjoyable. She provided an easy listening experience!
I did get a bit irritated with the characters which, I'm sure was the point. Usually I love flawed characters but I have little patience for characters with grating personalities and zero redeeming qualities. There are a few of them in here. It was nothing that totally diminished my enjoyment of the book but certain situations, dialogue, and character decisions really did get on my nerves.
To be completely honest, I was stuck between a 3 and 4 star rating for this book. The ending gave it the boost it needed to give it a 4 star rating.

Overall, this was a solid read. Freida McFadden has become an author that I have my eye on.

3.5 stars

Okay this wasn’t the most believable plot nor was it Gellar prize material BUT it was a super fun suspense thriller that totally fooled me with its unexpected twist at the end. I totally thought I knew where it was going but NOPE, I was wrong! And whenever a thriller can pull the wool over my eyes, I have to give it credit.

I loved this author’s book The Housemaid so was excited to get the audio copy of her latest book from Netgalley. The audio performance was good but wish there had been two different narrators to represent the two different perspectives telling the story. The plot moved along at a gallop, which made it a very fast read. Despite it being what some are calling a “popcorn thriller,” it was quite engaging and kept my interest throughout. I recommend this one to folks looking for an entertaining “don’t have to think too hard” psych thriller annd are okay with a plot that pushes the plausibility limits.

Thanks #Netgalley and #DreamscapeMedia for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

HOLY CRAP this audiobook was brilliant! That twist at the end is insane and I’m totally here for it. HIGHLY recommend this one!

I wasn't sure how I was going to take this book going in. As a therapist myself, I am always hesitant to read books about other therapists, because we are usually portrayed in a less than flattering light. Dr. Adrienne Hale is indeed a therapist behaving badly, but it quickly becomes apparent that she paid the consequences. The plot moved along nicely from the past to the present, and the twist definitely took my by surprise. The audio production was enjoyable, and I found myself listening outside of my "normal" listening routine. If you are looking for a nice thriller to enjoy on a snowy day, this book is for you!

This book was super well done. I had some ideas about what might be going on as I read it but I was never really clear about it. The characters here had some really interesting developments. They were well written and had a lot of depth to them. The story line was super interesting as well. I also appreciated that the two main characters had a lot of flaws but they were each relatable. Overall I really enjoyed this one.

This book held my attention the entire time and I just had to know what was going to happen next. I certainly did not predict the ending with all the twists. I highly recommend this book and I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Freida McFadden is always a trusty go to for a Psychological Thriller and Never Lie falls in the footsteps of its predecessors.

A woman goes missing. Her boyfriend is suspected of murder. Her home goes on the market and an unsuspecting couple get snowed in while viewing the property "for the first time." But one of them is lying and this is not their first time to the property.

Book: Never Lie
Description:
Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams.

But when they visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne

Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier, a violent winter storm traps them at the estate… with no chance of escape until the blizzard comes to an end.

In search of a book to keep her entertained until the snow abates, Tricia happens upon a secret room. One that contains audio transcripts from every single patient Dr. Hale has ever interviewed. As Tricia listens to the cassette tapes, she learns about the terrifying chain of events leading up to Dr. Hale’s mysterious disappearance.

Tricia plays the tapes one by one, late into the night. With each one, another shocking piece of the puzzle falls into place, and Dr. Adrienne Hale’s web of lies slowly unravels.

And then Tricia reaches the final cassette.

The one that reveals the entire horrifying truth.

My Thoughts: I’ve come to the conclusion that this author just isn’t for me. This book was a quick read with some twists. However, the characters were just extremely unlikeable (in the worst way).

I did love the audiobook narrator though
