This audiobook is absolutely unpausable!

Tricia & Ethan's trip out of the city for a home tour turns into a nightmare when they get snowed in at the imposing house with a disconcerting past. Alternating between Tricia & Ethan's present and the previous homeowner's past, this book grabs your attention from the first page and never let's go.

Maybe I"m partial because I love Freida McFadden, but this book is an easy winner for me! The characters feel real, the setting feels real, the plot moves quickly, and you won't see the twists coming! Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good thriller, a good twist, or an easy read!

This author stays true to her writing style with this quick, psychological thriller. A little far-fetched but engaging and fun nonetheless.

This is another fun thriller that throws twists and turns in until the end!

Tricia and Ethan are newlyweds who get stuck in a snowstorm while house hunting. They quickly realize that the house they are stuck at used to belong to a famous author and psychiatrist who vanished. While trapped at the house, they uncover clues to what really happened.

If you need a fun, mindless thriller this is a good bet!

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for the complimentary ARC.

Eh, while I enjoy a thriller with a good twist - this one just fell short of the mark. I was able to get the audio copy from NG and the narrator was great but this was just a basic thriller. The middle of the book seemed to just be filler - nothing super exciting. Just ok - but I did enjoy the little twist.

Fantastic five-star read from Frieda!! She never disappoints with her twisty creepy thrillers. This is a major plot twist that I didn't see coming until we were already turning the corner towards it! Perfect read this winter, as the setting is at a remote house during a blizzard. Already anticipating her next one!!

Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Freida McFadden has become a reliable go-to author for me. All of her books are twisty and twisted and very easy to consume in a short period of time.

I legitimately did not guess any of the twists in this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC

This book starts out rather slowly. We get Tricia’s first narrative of her life wiEthan, her husband of 6 months. They have begun their search for a house in the suburbs just outside of NYC. They travel to a remote part of Westchester county, where they see a gorgeous house of their dreams. Or is it? Trapped by a blizzard, the couple is forced to spend the night in the luxurious but odd house. , Although, she is spooked by the house Tricia snoops around and uncovers disturbing audiotapes of psychotherapy sessions conducted by previous owner, Adrienne Hale. Dr. Hale is a renowned psychiatrist who had mysteriously disappeared 4 years prior. The best part of this book were the audiotaped sessions of Dr. Hale and her patients. I also really loved the narrator. The story then unfolds through flashbacks of the principal characters. There are absolutely no likable characters in this story. The red herrings were somewhat predictable but I was surprised by several of the twists.
I enjoyed this book on audio. The story moved along at a good page. The twists and coincidences in the book were very improbable, but they kept me engaged and interested in the characters and the plot. Overall a fun and quick audio book. I do enjoy this author and will read/listen to other books when given the opportunity.

I thought the narrator was fine, though I think this would be best with at least one more narrator to differentiate better between characters. What I liked - the short chapters and the physiatrist's tapes. The dual timelines worked well. What I didn't like - the repetitive writing, the twist that didn't work, the obvious red herrings.

Ethan and Tricia have recently gotten married after a rather whirlwind romance. They’re now in the market for a home, when they get snowed in at a local place that used to belong to renowned Psychiatrist Dr. Adrienne Hale.

During their time at the home, Tricia happens upon a hidden room that seems to contain all for Dr. Hale’s recordings of patients. The reader gets to listen to the tapes as Tricia does, slowly putting together the story of what actually happened to Dr. Hale. When the last tape is played, a shocking twist comes to light to keep the reader on their toes (and I never saw it coming).

This was a quick and entertaining thriller to listen to and I enjoyed my time with it!

4 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Hollywood Upstairs Press for gifting me an audio ARC of the latest thriller by Freida McFadden, narrated by Leslie Howard - 4 stars!

Newlyweds Ethan and Tricia are searching for their dream house. But when they visit the deserted mansion once owned by famous psychiatrist, Adrienne Hale, who disappeared 4 years ago, and in the middle of a blizzard, things don't turn out the way they planned. Tricia finds a secret room with tape recordings Adrienne made of all her patient sessions and starts listening to them, unbeknownst to Ethan. That's just one of the secrets here.

While you may have to suspend belief a lot of the time, this was still a twisty thriller that kept me engrossed to the end. Plus, the remote setting during a blizzard added to the suspense of the book. I totally guessed wrong with the direction of the book, so the twist was very surprising! The narration worked well and was easy to follow, even with multiple characters.

I’ve been a fan of the author’s for awhile, and I was so excited to get to review her newest book. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity! I received a digital copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I literally finished this in one sitting- like all of her books that I’ve read, I was gripped from the very beginning, although I think this might be the best one yet. The author took this in directions I was not expecting- even when I had actually figured something out ahead of time, it wasn’t quite what I thought would happen. I was absolutely blown away by this book, and I can’t wait to read her next book

Holy five star read! If you are a thriller fan you do not want to let this one pass you by. It’s absolutely fantastic edge-of-your-seat perfection.
Tricia and Ethan are newlyweds who are searching for their dream home. They find a house that used to belong to a renowned psychiatrist who disappeared without a trace three or four years earlier, Dr. Adrienne Hale. When a violent winter storm traps them at the estate, they find that they have to spend the night.
Tricia decides to seek out a book that she can read to keep her mind entertained while she and Ethan wait out the storm. Tricia pulls on one book and discovers that there is a secret room. In that room she finds the audio recorded transcripts of all of the Dr.’s patients. Tricia starts listening to them and she learns all about some terrible events that occurred that lead to Dr. Hale’s disappearance.
Tricia keeps listening to the tapes, one after the other, late into the night. Each and every one gives a terrifying and shocking piece of the puzzle. As the puzzle pieces fall into place Dr. Hale’s web of deceit begins to unravel.
This book is absolutely fantastic. I have the audiobook version and let me tell you that it really puts you directly into the story. The narrator is fantastic and as the story unfolds she lends voice to each character and situation flawlessly.
This book has brilliant characters, fantastic writing, and a twist you will never see coming. Excellent book!

Never Lie, by Freida McFadden, is a roller-coaster ride of a psychological thriller!
It begins slowly with Tricia’s first person POV narrative of her life with perfect, loving Ethan, her husband of 6 months, and their search for a house in the country outside of NYC. Trapped by a blizzard during a tour of a prospective luxury home, curious Tricia snoops around and uncovers disturbing audiotapes of psychotherapy sessions conducted by previous owner, Adrienne Hale, who had mysteriously disappeared 4 years prior. The story then unfolds through flashbacks of the principal characters. The layers of the mystery and death of Adrienne (and others!) peel away, with some excellent red herrings and plot twists.
This is an enjoyable quick read/listen that, while sometimes improbable, kept me engaged and interested in the characters and action. Freida McFadden books never disappoint in this regard and the audiobook narrator, Leslie Howard, is excellent!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audio review copy. This is my honest review.

Freida McFadden is quite the social media darling and I went into this expecting some fun twists. The book definitely did have that, bunch of red herrings and all. I had a lot of trouble caring about any of the people in the book. It was an easy book to listen to with great narration. Read this if you like cashmere sweaters,

This is my 7th Freida McFadden novel and, just like the previous 6, I loved Never Lie. First, I love a book where the setting is a primary character. This one involves house hunters, an isolated empty home they were to preview with their realtor and a snowstorm which trapped the couple in the house without cell service and the fear the house might not actually be empty. It's a great set up which felt very much like a potential Agatha Christie (now the modern Ruth Ware) style of writing.

The newlyweds, Tricia and Ethan, end up spending several tense nights in this remote location which also happens to be the former home of a missing psychologist who taped her patient's sessions. What better way to spend the time than listening to these HIPAA violation gems.

I never guessed any of it - the true test of a writers ability. McFadden always surprises me.

The narration was well done and I can highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this mystery! It had so many twists and turns. When the young couple arrive at a newly available house for sale in the middle of a blizzard and right away the man is able to find a key and go in. Well I knew something weird was up !

Everything is covered in dust, as the previous owner has vanished 3 years ago and everything is left behind except there is food in the fridge and the husband is making sandwiches and wearing clothes from the closet! His wife doesn’t believe his audacity either.

Yet they are stuck there to weather out the storm. The owner was a psychiatrist who kept tapes of her sessions with patients and the wife discovers them in her snooping and gives a listen, hiding this from her husband. One of many secrets from each other. A great plot for a book

What kept it from being a five star book for me was the repetitive dialogue and the inconsistencies of the plot. After reading the end the first couple of chapters didn’t make a whole lot of sense. But, the descriptions of this creepy house were excellent! I could picture every room and all the dust and furnishings. I was sure I knew who the “bad guy” was by a few chapter in and was shaking my head to how obvious it was. But then I was wrong ! Fun fun read ! Thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this arc and chance to give my opinion

What would you do if you went to look at a house that was for sale and got snowed in for the weekend? Would you find a way to get out of the storm and make yourself comfortable in someone else's home or would you find a way to get somewhere else safely?

In this thriller newlyweds Tricia and Ethan drive to what they feel could be their dream home, only to get stuck in the middle of nowhere in a blizzard with no cell phone service. With no way to get anywhere else they decide to look for a key to get into the house and wait out the storm.

They soon realize the house belongs to a well known phycologist who has been missing for months with no idea what happened to her....and if she was killed who did it??

This face paced thriller kept me guessing right up to the end trying to figure out what happened to Dr. Adrienne Hale and if she was killed who did it?? The twists and turns make you start to second guess what you think you know right up to the final chapter.

I really enjoyed how the book when from the past to the present and had different perspectives of Tricia and Ethan (the present timeline) and Dr. Hale (the past timeline).

This was my first book by Freida McFadden and won't be my last!

I LOVED This book.
I was given an ARC audiobook and I loved it.
It kept my vested in the story and I did not want to stop listening to it. Thankfully it is a "short" book so I was able to listen to it all in a single day. Otherwise I would of been up LATE.

If you like Simone St James books I think you will really enjoy this one.

I love the "shorter" books but I wish this one was a bit longer. And I don't often say that

I'll start off by saying, this was my first Freida McFadden book, and it definitely won't be my last. I started off thinking this was some basic thriller and I assumed I knew the plot twist 25% into it. Joke was on me! Holy cow that ending. 🤯
I just wish it had more leading up to the twists. It had one of this whiplash endings.

Ethan and Tricia are stranded in a house they were visiting during a blizzard, the house of a famous psychiatrist, Adrienne, who disappeared some time ago. Tricia is convinced they are not alone in the house, but Ethan quickly reassures her. Then she finds a hidden room containing all of Adrienne's recordings of her sessions with her patients.
What. A. Ride! This is a twisted page-turner of a psychological thriller! Freida McFadden is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine! The story is told in dual POV and timelines (Tricia now and Adrienne then) with great tension. I listened to the audio book, and the narration was great. I kept trying to figure out the final twist. I didn't guess it right although I was close... it was just much more twisted than I thought! If I were to nitpick, I would say that you absolutely have to suspend belief, because it was a bit overdone. Also, I listened to the audio after reading the physical book, so I knew what to look for hint-wise, and I have to admit some things don't really work (especially because it's told in first-person POV). It was also a bit repetitive at times. But I did find it super entertaining, if you just let go, enjoy, and don't think about the details that are a bit over the top and unbelievable. I have a few other thoughts that would give away spoilers, so if you want to know them, look up my GoodReads review!
