I am a huge fan of B.J. Daniels and so I really enjoyed this one! I have read all those in the series up to this one and can't wait to get to the next two in the series. This author always gives me exactly what I want sexy cowboys and a side of mystery. :)

This is book 4 to n a series, however, they can be read as standalones.

This book started off strong and got right to the mystery. With that said I didn't really find much of a romance. Sure there was some romance but to be tagged as a mystery romance I wanted a lot more romance involved.

Intriguing story and interesting characters. I liked the fish out of water storyline and the author's ability to depict that discomfort.

Just gotta say I'm a fan of B.J Daniels work and this book definitely did not disappoint. I enjoyed following along with this book seeing the twists and turns of each thing that kept the characters on their toes. There was just so much going on that'll keep any reader hooked. I did like that there was a bit of romance between Willie and Elanor but it wasn't too much where it took over the book it was pretty minor compared to what was going on. Pretty great really highly recommend!

This is the 4th book in the “Colton Brothers Investigation Series.” This is an entertaining, easy quick read, drama filled, action packed, murder, suspenseful, mystery, mayhem, great characters and an awesome plot that held me captive. Willie is the oldest of the Colton brothers, he is a sexy cowboy deputy in the mountains of mountain along with his brothers they run and operative an investigative company. These super sexy cowboys are oh so swoon worthy. Willie finds himself in Seattle trying to extradite Vernon who is charged with murder when he is brutally attacked. Willie goes to confront the Vernon’s attorney Eleanor. Things get kind of hot between Willie and Eleanor as they are enjoying themselves. Willie and Eleanor are at a bar and someone comes in and for some reason Willie thinks that the man is looking for Eleanor. As things continue to move forward Willie and Eleanor find themselves working together. Willie is doing his best to protective Eleanor and keep them both safe.

Will Eleanor relocate to Montana and use her lawyer skills with Willie and his investigative firm, will Vernon be caught and jailed, is there an HEA in store for Willie and Eleanor?

I received an ARC via NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada), Harlequin Intrigue and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

4.5 stars!

I love a good romantic suspense book and read many of them. B. J. Daniels was a new-to-me author with Christmas Ransom, and it hooked me on her writing, so I was excited to read the next book in her Colt Brothers Investigation series. While I had a few issues with the previous book, this one had my attention from page one, and it was pretty much unputdownable. The action was much more fast-paced than in the last book, and while I mostly had a guess as to who the villain was, I wasn’t 100% sure until the story’s arc. I really liked that Willie wasn’t intimidated by the big city cops and wasn’t deterred from finding answers. I also liked Eleanor not being a pushover and a free thinker. The writing was solid, the characters were well developed, and the mystery was suspenseful; pretty much the romantic suspense trifecta. I am more than looking forward to what’s coming next from B. J. Daniels.

This is a Cowboy Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in A Colt Brothers Investigation series. I really loved the characters in this book, and the storyline was really good. I wished there was more suspense in this book, but there is a ton of action. I really loved the ending of this book. I really enjoyed reading this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Intrigue) or author (B.J. Daniels) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Terrific book that sucked me in from the start and kept me hooked to the end. Willie Colt joined the Lonesome sheriff's department after his rodeo career ended to discover more about their father's suspicious death. As the newest department member, Willie got the unenviable task of driving to Seattle to pick up a prisoner being extradited to Montana. As soon as he picked up the prisoner, Vernon claimed he'd never return to Montana alive. Within moments of leaving the police department, Willie was brutally attacked and his prisoner taken. After waking up in the hospital, Willie was determined to track down his prisoner and get him back - no matter what the local cops said.

Eleanor is the high-powered attorney assigned to Vernon's case. He had little to say to her, and though she didn't want to admit it, something felt off about the case. She was happy to see him sent back to Montana. Shortly after she hears about his disappearance, she gets a phone call from him where he sounds deeply distressed. He tells her that he's in trouble and the people that have him will come after her next. That's when Willie showed up in her office, looking for answers. After hearing her story, Willie convinces Ellie that she is in danger and can trust him to keep her safe.

The suspense of this story kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. While Ellie is wary of Willie's claims initially, it doesn't take long before Vernon's prediction comes true. She and Willie seem to barely stay one step ahead of the bad guys as they investigate Vernon's past activities. Each new connection raises further questions and exposes them to more danger. Shootings, speeding cars, and explosions keep Willie and Ellie on their toes and watching their backs. Just when it looks like they've answered all the questions, an unexpected twist exposes the truth. The final confrontation was a nail-biter and kept me guessing how it would end.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Ellie and Willie. Their initial meeting was a little antagonistic as Willie's tolerance for lawyerly double-speak was very low, and Ellie didn't appreciate Willie's bluntness. It also took Willie saving her from an attack for Ellie to let go of her distrust. They call a truce to work together to find the answers to Vernon's disappearance. Neither expected the attraction that flared between them, and they weren't sure what to do about it. Ellie is a city girl at home in her city life, and Willie is a pure country boy who needs his wide-open spaces to breathe. It takes some time apart and brotherly intervention for Willie and Ellie to see they belong together. I loved seeing how her time with Willie changed Ellie in ways she never expected. I loved her scene with the law firm's board and what it meant for her future. The ending was fantastic.

There was also an unexpected twist in the investigation into their father's death. Willie finally tracked down their father's wrecked truck and looked it over, searching for any new evidence. What he found upended the brothers' world and sent them on an additional quest. I can't wait for the next book to see what they find.

I would not be lonesome in Lonesome, Montana with any of the Colt Brothers.
Willie turns Seattle on its head as he and EL, Ellie, are shot at, lurk in the shadows and try to get to the bottom of who’s behind the killings sand why.
I didn’t figure out the mystery until almost the very end.
Willie is all male and all macho. I snickered at his comment pertaining to a former lover of Ellie’s. But can the cowboy cop and city slicker lawyer ever make it work?
Read B.J. Daniel’s latest and see for yourself.

This was my favorite of the series so far. Ellie and Willie are both strong-willed and independent. There's non-stop action and adventure as they unravel the mystery of her client.

She's a big city lawyer and he's a small town former rodeo star considering a run for sheriff. But their determination in solving the case brings them closer together. He's injured and returns home to Montana to recuperate. She's in Washington State reviving her family's law firm. Can they bridge the distance to reveal their true feelings and make a go of a relationship? You're going to want to read this one to find out! Although part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book.

Although I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Willie Colt is a deputy sent to Seattle to bring back an arsonist to Montana. E.L. Shaffer is the attorney and when Willie is almost killed and the prisoner taken, he visits her office for answers. Come to find out Ellie doesn't have a clue what is going on with the case and it looks like her boss set her up with this case. The more Willie and Ellie dig into the case the more dangerous it gets.
Willie and Ellie are falling for each other; but they live in separate states and have different lifestyles. I just love B.J. Daniels books and have read all of this series and can't wait for the next one.

Kept me on the edge!

Wow! What a riveting story! Willie is all hot cowboy cop and I loved every bit! Ellie is a stuffed shirt at first, but she soon loosens up as she tries to keep up with Willie as they both are running for their very lives! Willie may be a fish out of water, but Ellie is a bird who is very quickly learning to swim.

This is a wildly complex case, with ties going back years for Ellie and surprises around just about every corner. Just when you think it's all over, the real psychopathic villain is still trying to tie up loose ends.

I loved the way Willie and Ellie worked together, not afraid to rely on each other's strengths, and I loved that Willie's brothers were brought in to assist. The non-stop action paired well with the brewing romance and I was thrilled with the HEA.

If you love romantic suspense as much as I do, you don't want to miss this outstanding story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Set Up in the City is the fourth book in B.J. Daniels' Colt Brothers Investigation series, but it's the first book in the series I've read, so I felt a tad lost reading the cast of characters at the outset, but in actuality, once I started reading this novel, I never felt lost, and can say that this novel works just fine as a standalone. However, because this novel is billed as romantic suspense, where was the romance? It was almost all mystery/suspense with very little romance, in fact, aside from the two main characters deciding they love each other before they really even get to know one another, or even go on a date, I can't honestly call their relationship a romance, which is the reason for my 3.5-star rating, which is difficult because I generally love B.J. Daniels' novels--I've been reading her for years.

As for suspense, this novel literally starts out with a bang--a big one, as an arsonist blows up an abandoned 3-story building on the outskirts of Lonesome, Montana, discovering too late that although he searched for occupants before setting up the explosion, there was a bound woman inside--and he's soon on the run. Who was she? Why was she there? Why didn't he see her when he searched the building? That's what newly sworn deputy Willie Colt is trying to find out, and when the arsonist is caught in Seattle, Washington, it's Willie tasked with extraditing him back to Lonesome to stand trial--except that his Police SUV is ambushed, Willie is injured and his prisoner gone.

So who's responsible for the ambush, and why? Trying to find out, Willie meets attractive attorney E. L. "Ellie" Shaffer, and that's when the action in this novel really heats up. It's one conundrum after another, one suspect after another, with secondary characters dropping like flies, and Willie and Ellie are trying not to get killed, and if you guess who and why before the end of this novel, you're a much better detective than I am. If you love trying to solve a good mystery, packed with loads of suspense, you'll really enjoy this one, but for this reader, it was unbalanced, and I would have preferred some additional time spent on the romance--in this novel, it was more of an afterthought.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

I enjoy the opposite attract trope and this is done very well in Set Up in the City. Ellie, big city girl, and Willie, former rodeo cowboy, don’t seem to belong together at all. The thrive in different worlds but together they are perfect for each other. The story has plenty of twists, danger, deceit, and corruption with a big of romance thrown in. A good addition to the Colt Brothers Investigation series. I recommend all the books in the series; which can be read as standalones.

I am loving the Colt Brothers series. This is the 4th book in the series and focuses on the oldest brother, Willie. Willie is sent to Seattle to pick up an extradited prisoner and the next thing he know he’s waking up in the hospital. Something isn’t right with how this case appears and he does a lot of investigation, getting himself in trouble with the Seattle police chief and his own sheriff supervisor. All the situations in this book are believable and the main characters are very likable. Although this book can probably be read as a stand-alone I recommend starting the series with the first book and read them in order. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

Set Up in the City by B.J. Daniels is book #4 in the Colt Brothers Investigation series. How making a trip to pick up a prisoner to be expedited from Seattle to Lonesome, Montana began a very dangerous journey for Attorney Eleanor "Ellie" Shaffer and Lonesome deputy Willie Colt is a very suspenseful, thrilling read. Ellie and Willie face much danger as this storyline progresses. I really like the characters in this book. At first sight Ellie and Willie don't seem to belong together - big-city girl and former rodeo cowboy. But they sure do. I totally enjoyed following along to their Happily Ever After. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Set Up in the City is a thrilling ride of suspense, lies, deceit, money, power, and corruption. The characters are captivating, the story is enthralling, and the setting is the perfect backdrop for the unfolding drama. With every twist and turn, the stakes become higher, and the tension mounts, making for an unforgettable experience.

You know if it's by B.J. Daniels, it's going to be a wild ride! This one is all about Deputy Willie Colt. He is in the process of transferring a criminal back to Montana from Washington when things take a turn. They're attacked and the criminal gets away. The locals in Washington are less than helpful and Willie teams up with lawyer Eleanor to get to the bottom of things. But things are going to get more difficult before they get better as Willie and Eleanor get closer.

The chemistry between Willie and Eleanor certainly isn't lacking. I'm a sucker for the opposites attract trope and B.J. Daniels did it exceptionally in this story. While I was able to eventually figure things out right before the characters did, there were plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing throughout. And there was plenty of danger along the way to keep me worried about Willie and Eleanor.

If you have read any of the other books in the Colt Brothers series, you're going to fall for Willie just as you have the others. And if you haven't read any of the Colt Brothers, I strongly recommend that you do! You're sure to come to love B.J. Daniels as much as I do!

I received a free ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
