Has this plot been done before? Yes!
Do I care? NO!

I absolutely loved Twice in a Lifetime. I devoured this book and it kept me up late into the night. There was so much emotion, love, sadness, and really just all the feels in this one that I could not stop listening. I just had to see where the story would lead.

I will be recommending this book to everyone I know.

This felt like The Lake house but with more emotion. There definitely needs some trigger warnings because parts are really heavy.

A great message in a beautiful, beautiful story.

3.5⭐️

I liked this. But it was definitely heavy, not sure what I expected, but it wasn’t what I expected. I was captivated by the story and really wanted to understand what was happening and why.

I would say I liked the first half better and then was shocked halfway through. Just be warned of the heavy topics of suicide and mental health cause it’s a strong theme in this one.

I loved this audiobook. It was a beautiful and engaging story of love, loss, and taking a chance when it seems like all hope is lost. I couldn't put it down! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a beautiful romance with a little bit of a twist to it. I would also recommend this book to fans of The Lake House.

this is not your typical romance book. it is filled with deep emotion and heavy topics. I did not expect this and liked that aspect of the book. time travel is a tricky thing to navigate as it then requires the reader to suspend disbelief (something I find tricky). the narration was lovely.

This book really pulled me in. It was a bit slow paced but has a good storyline. The female main character recieves a text from her future husband who is mourning after she is gone. He loves her enough to set her free and has faith they will find their way to eachother. This is the "Love will find a way" story.

DNF @ 25%. I realize that the nature of the time-twist beast here requires a lot of telling instead of showing, but I’m a quarter of the way through and I don’t feel any attachment to either character or their storyline. Maybe this type of story isn’t for me, but I’m bored so far.

I liked this story. Its main focus is anxiety and how to let others in to help. The romance was sweet if a little to good to be true. Near the end of the story I was getting choked up, which never really happens to me while listening to a book, and I credit it to the author making characters that have a true connection with each other.

Twice in a Lifetime was sooooo emotional. The entire story captivated me and I couldn't stop listening to it. The narrator did a fantastic job and I would recommend this book to anyone.

Twice in a Lifetime begins with trigger warnings about mental health - if you are currently experiencing/prone to experiencing anxiety, depression, self harm I do not think this is the book for you. These themes are very weighty throughout the entire story. The accuracy and realism make this far from a lighthearted read.

I quite liked the unique take on time travel and would definitely read more by this author! The narration was also fantastic. The couple was so easy to root for, and the supporting characters were diverse and added to the story instead of just being added for the sake of extra conversation. The story was gripping and emotional.. loved it!

Twice in a Lifetime by Melissa Baron was a sort of time travel and final destination novel. What would you do to save someone you love??
It was narrated by Megan Tusing and she was great. She added so much to this.
The novel is about a young woman who has dealt with mental illness almost her entire life and she’s determined to figure out how to live. Once the story was in motion I was nervous about everything happening. I loved the romance which for me is always a plus. Would I read any by this author? Absolutely.

This was a heart wrenching story. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I really expected a sci-fi romance. But the book deals with some intense situations. It left me feeling a little down at times. It held my interest enough to finish the book. But it did leave me with mixed feelings. Maybe a new blurb would better describe the book

I really enjoyed the anxiety rep and how the author handled topics related to mental health. The weightiness of these themes integrated well within the story. The time travel trope was unique in this romance. The relationship and chemistry between the two main characters was sweet and relatable. A satisfying twist at the end. Narration was done well. Great audiobook

This book begins with a warning about mental heath and I want to reiterate this. Do not read this book if you are having a hard time with depression or anxiety or thoughts of self-harm. This book can wait. Your mental and physical health is more important. Be kind to yourself! The author trigger warning are right up front and she even includes resources at the back of the book. She went about and beyond!

If you can handle this book without a worry about your mental health, it was definitely worth a read! I think the author handles the mental health topics very well. As someone who has struggled with my mental health, I thought that the ideation and cycles of thought were very well demonstrated. Not all the characters understand Isla's small struggles but those around her support her and try and help her throughout her journey of self-acceptance. Isla is quirky and a good main character. Ewan is adorable and so sweet. The supporting cast of friends are realistic and not perfect. They have a diversity of background that helps round out the story.

The author did a great job with the writing. It was very eloquent and descriptive. However, the because of this excellent writing, the depictions of mental health do not make this is lighthearted read. The writing style can also lead to exacerbated triggers because of the realism and detail.

The time travel was unique. The rules of the time-travel were a little specific and were not always the most logical but it suited the story well. Towards the end of the book, there were plot lines that I did not expect but I really enjoyed how story ended.

The love stories were great! Ewan and Isla had a great friends to lovers connection and it was very believable. Isla also has to learn to love herself even with all her diagnoses.

TLDR: This romance book handles some pretty serious topics (take note of the trigger warnings) but it was an inciteful and enjoyable read.

Stars: 4/5 (only because I do not think this book is for everyone, especially those struggling with their mental health)

A heavy but beautifully insightful book to the start the new year. I so appreciate the authors trigger warning and resources presented at the end. Ever more though I appreciate how beautifully raw mental health is described in this book. Also what a unique take on time traveling.

I started this year reading Twice in a Lifetime by @Melissa Baron. I will say this book is not a light one but was a beautifully insightful way to start the new year.

First, I would encourage you to listen to the trigger warnings before or proceeding. But to that note, I do appreciate an author actually taking the time to include trigger warnings. And even more impressive was the inclusion of resources at the end. What a thoughtful way to handle difficult topics and have care for your reader.

This book is a mixture of unique time travel and a beautifully raw look at mental health and loving someone who has diagnoses. I reminded me of The Lake House (but better writing).

I will admit I had a little trouble following the second round of connection (I will leave it at that to not spoil). But this book makes you stop and contemplate if you could communicate across time and change the outcome, what the consequences would be.

Absolutely loved this book about two people destined to be together. The audible narration was beautiful done and easy to listen to. It really kept me entertained and wanting to know how their story ends. Modern day take on The Lake house. Isla is one of the main characters that I grew to love just as she learned a lot and grew in the story. She moves from Chicago to St. Louis for change of location to restart her life. She deals with a lot from anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, grief, parent abuse, and traumatic brain injury. Over time she meets Ewan and their friendship develops. I love their flirtatious side and quick witty banter between the two. I found myself wanting to keep reading and know more about their story and where it goes. Light hearted romance novel. Many thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the Audiobook. All opinions expressed in this review are my own

This book surprised me in such a great way! It was a fun book to read but with heavy & difficult topics. I loved the mental health representation. I fell in love with the characters right from the start. The ending was not what I was expecting but it was excellent. Highly recommend checking this one out!

A bittersweet story, Twice in a Lifetime was a heavy read. I really enjoyed the writing style and the audiobook narrator, and the characters were completely lovable. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and audience, but with caution. I definitely needed to be mentally ready to start this one.

This story was a different take on love and second chances and I thought it was nicely done. Having no experience with people who suffer from anxiety related issues, at first Isla seemed a bit more withdrawn than I could understand., though once we met her father I was surprised she was as well as she was.

Isla, a graphic artist, prefers to be solitary and private, so when she gets a message from someone telling her facts about herself that no one else would know, she feels she is being stalked. As a single woman, she doesn't believe he is who he says he is as it seems impossible to her.

Ewan seems like a kind man, but how could he be who he says? It takes some imagination and suspension of facts for this to be true, but the reader finds it easy to root for them.
