Didn’t realize this was a novella and that it wasn’t available to read on my kindle. Really takes away from the reading experience IMO, and I know that I don’t usually enjoy novellas so I wouldn’t have requested. I tried to give it an honest go on a screen but it just didn’t work for me. Will grab once it’s out in print!

This is the first story I have read in this series and what a way to be introduced to Pip and her friends! That girl is smart af. This was incredibly fun and definitely a page turner. I love a good murder mystery party. This definitely makes me want to get a bunch of friends together and host my own, although my friends would never be this dedicated. 🤣 I love how the ending morphs into what the first book is about-absolutely a perfect prequel! I will definitely continue to read the rest of the series! M

Hurray! It was so much fun to read an epilogue to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and spend some quality Agatha Christie-sque meets Clue style murder mystery time with our longtime brainy detective friend Pip!

What I like about this book?
- I’m absolutely blessed to have a chance to return back Pippa Fitz-Amobi’s universe before her murder obsession hits the roof! I didn’t like how her character evolved at final book three and I still wish the author gives her another chance redeem her mistakes and her happy ending with Ravi. But meeting with her character before she solved Andie Bell mystery was so much meaningful.
- Claustrophobic murder mystery game was also entertaining. The plotline reminds us “And Then There Were None” meets Clue. The events take place in an island called Joy where can be reached with only on boat that ships specific scheduled time. Reginald Remy, the patriarch of the Remy family and owner of the Remy Hotels and Casinos empire in London. He’s found dead in his study. There are six people in the house during the murder time. One of them is killer. Pip plays Celia Bourne, estranged and neglected niece of Remy, working in London as a governess to a well-off family. The other suspects are children of Remy: Bobby( elder son), Ralph ( younger son), Lizzie ( Ralph’s wife), Humphrey the devoted butler, Dora the new cook. The investigation conducted by Howard Whey played by Jamie , one of their hosts and big brother of Connor. ( You may recognize those names if you read the first book of the series)
- I loved Pip’s detailed approach to see things looking through impeccably clever perspective. I loved her Poirot style theatrical revelation to unfold the mystery at the end ( it was one girl show!)
- Catching a quick glimpse of Ravi at the end enlightened my mood!
Overall: that novella I’ve devoured in two hours definitely reminded me of my love and dedication to the series! I need another book! I need it ASAP!

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

I loved this series and was so excited to see the prequel was finally being mass produced. This was a fantastic prequel, it gave insight into characters throughout the 3 books and showed the spark of inspiration of the case that started the whole series. It's a quick, fun read that you can read wherever you are in the series or even after you've finished it. This made me want to go back through the series and see how the clues from this prequel were fleshed out within the other books. The murder mystery game was fun to try to solve alongside Pip, overall I really enjoyed being back within the AGGGTM world.

Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kill Joy is a prequel novella to Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder trilogy. In this story, Pippa is invited to a murder mystery party with her friends where they try to solve a “murder” under their aliases from the game.

I think you could read this before you read the trilogy because it does a great job setting up the main story from the first book and establishing Pip’s character. I really enjoyed reading this after the trilogy because I already knew some of the characters so it was fun to see them from before.

The murder mystery game was fun and a unique way to show the way Pip thinks through clues. I really loved the way this wrapped up too. It kind of makes me want to reread the trilogy. There are very few YA books like these ones.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC!

I loved the Good Girls Guide to Murder trilogy and I was so excited for this novella! It was a *pretend* murder mystery and it was so much fun to listen to Pip and her friends solve their mystery, I have missed Connor and Cara! I was a little confused about where this fit in but it made sense in the end and if you read the whole series youre definitely going to be side eyeing some people.

A cute little novella for the series. I was a little confused about where in the timeline it fit - but once I reached the end it made sense!

Jackson does a great job at building suspense in these pages - it's almost impressive. Additionally, the novella really shows Pip's character well.

A must for fans of the series!

I received a copy of Kill Joy via NetGalley to read and review.

I’ve had Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder on my TBR for quite some time. Thanks to Kill Joy I’m more than ready to dive in. Kill Joy is a super short read but it’s really good! Pip goes to a murder mystery dinner with her friends. Jackson does a good job of having all these teenagers personalities come through. Pip takes the game very seriously while others break character a little. It helps this simple murder mystery become very engaging.

There was a little alluding to the first book of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. I have not read this series yet but I can say the little tidbits in Kill Joy haven’t given me much in what to expect for the rest of the series.
