An enjoyable novella from Holly Jackson. I love how she continues to write mystery stories that will grab the interest of my students. Thank you negalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

I read and loved Pip in the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series. I was excited to see this novella come out. It was a quick 200-page read. The plot was good for how short the book was. I felt like I got to know and meet the characters in a lighter setting. While it wasn't the best mystery book I've ever read, it did hold my attention enough. I would not recommend reading this book before the other main 3 in the series. I think, if anything, this should be read after completing the main three novels.

Such a fun quick read where we get a little bit more of our favorite girl, Pip and her detective skills. I love the foreshawdowing that Holly wrote into this story, leading up to A Good Girls Guide to Murder. It even had a bit more suspense than I was expecting and made me want to host a murder mystery party!

I read about half of this and I'm not inclined to finish. I LOVED Jackson's AGGGTM series and was excited to pick this up but without Ravi it's not the same. Because this is not available for Kindle download I had to read on my phone which is not an enjoyable reading experience.

A group of friends get together to play a murder mystery game, will it lead to solving a real murder? Holly Jackson has written a fun backstory to our favorite characters from the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series. If you have read the series there are little Easter eggs scattered throughout. If you have not, this is a good way to begin the series.

I absolutely loved the Good Girls Guide to Murder series so I was excited to see that a prequel novella was releasing. I might have felt differently if I actually read this as a prequel, but since reading it last I actually found the story to be quite meh. It was a unique idea that the story centered around a murder mystery and it gave readers an introduction to Pip's investigative skills. It also introduces readers to Andi Bell's case which book one centers around. I just felt like the story fell short compared to the other books in the series. Even though this is a personal preference, I felt like there was entirely too much language in the book especially for a book marketed as a YA series.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I've never been to a murder mystery party, but reading this book definitely made me interested in attending one! It was fun to be back in Pip's world and follow along as she investigates whodunit. It was the perfect little novella to cozy up with on a rainy night. Readers that enjoyed the Good Girls Guide to Murder series will enjoy this novella.

I wish my friends held murder mystery dinners when I was in high school, but alas, we did not. Clearly, we were a boring bunch,

This book takes place over the course of a evening. Pip and her friends play Kill Joy, a murder mystery game, and of course Pip goes all in to figure out who the murderer is. It gave me young adult clue vibes

It was such a joy to be back with Pip and her clan. This novella acts a prequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. If you have not read the series, I recommend reading this one before book one, and if not there, at least before book two. I think I would have enjoyed book two more had I read this first.

I really enjoyed this, and was pleasantly surprised by the ending. It made me want to re-read the series.

I really loved this little one off! It was great seeing Pip again and diving into another mystery. It was super fun and I recommend it to anyone who loved the GGGTM series or are wanting to get into Holly Jackson's books.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series so I was beyond excited to see a prequel book to the series.

A murder mystery game leads Pip to start her investigation into Andie Bell, the girl who died 5 years ago. Kill Joy was cute but not needed to to read the series. I liked seeing how Pip started her investigation and seeing her trying to solve her first murder mystery, which was a game, but still.

Kill Joy by Holly Jackson was an entertaining addition to the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. I read it after reading the full three books as I was not sure what order to read it in. I think it would be a great read as an intro to the series or after the first book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Delacorte Press for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was such a fun addition to the series! I really enjoyed seeing a glimpse into Pip's mind and her natural curiosity when it comes to solving something- it really makes the entire series more believable for the character. I really enjoyed being back with these characters that we got to know in the main books. This may or may not have inspired me to host my own murder mystery dinner...

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley.

Holly Jackson has done it again! I am a huge fan of all of her books! I devoured this book quickly! I couldn’t put it down. The plot was captivating and the characters were interesting. It was a great read from an amazing author!

This was an incredibly quick novella that gives us a bit of further insight into Pip, and sets up the first novel in the series beautifully. It is incredibly fast paced and can be finished in one sitting.

Sometimes I struggle with novellas, because so much of them have to stay on the surface due to timing and length - but this murder mystery dinner was a fun little story to follow along with.

A fast paced novella that was perfect murder mystery with our Pip. The clues given were fun and engaging. This showed how Pip took her deceive work seriously which lead to her work in The Good Girl Murders Club

I really enjoyed this read!! It was a little jarring at first because I already knew so much about Pip and her friends and for most of the book I didn't realize this was supposed to be the origin story of how Pip got started with her Capstone Project and where the whole idea started from. In all, I did enjoy it.

This was a great prequel novella. It was a quick read and had enough chilling moments to keep me interested until the end of the book.

What a fun novella as a prequel to the AGGGTM series! I’m a huge fan of this series so I was excited to have another installment. It was fun to see how Pip was drawn into the murder mystery game, and how she decided on her Capstone Project that we see in the first book. Wish I could have had more, but it was fun to dive into the mind of Pip one more time!

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Childrens for an ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

I'm kicking myself, because I downloaded the protected PDF and promptly got distracted and didn't get to read this before it expired. Bummer! Definitely will be looking for this as a finished copy.

I really enjoyed this prequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. It was fun to see the beginnings of Pip's interest in solving crime (even though it was a game) and subsequent interest in Andie Bell's case for her project.
