I loved this audiobook!!!!

The narrator was so excellent and was the perfect voice for Saint.

Loved being back in the Fable world and joining Elias aka Saint in his pirating journeys.

The narrator for this was great, especially the female narrator. I love the first two books in the duology, but didn’t get along with this one or the last legacy. I just didn’t feel any connection with any of the characters. The stakes didn’t feel high enough and I didn’t feel the glittering world building did in the first two. Cover art is great as usual and easy writing to understand. Just didn’t like it as much as the others. I also enjoyed the sky in the deep by this author, and I’m looking forward to spells for forgetting by this author as well.

I've been wanting this book since we first met Saint in Fable, and it's everything I wanted to bring me back to this world!

This is the origin and love story of Fable's infamous parents. Without giving out spoilers, I will just say Adrienne Young has done it again and fully immerses you in this world. The story was full of twists and answered questions I didn't even realize I had. It also had huge moments that made me want to read through the whole series again to see what I missed the first time. Adrienne's writing is so atmospheric and beautiful and truly makes you feel like what you are reading is happening right in front of you. While this is a prequel to the series I highly recommend reading this series in release order. I also recommend this book series to literally everyone and anyone!

A huge thank you to netgally and the publisher for a ALC of this title in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Adrienne Young returns to the world of The Narrows with SAINT, a captivating prequel to FABLE and NAMESAKE.

I love every single thing that I've read by the author, and loved being taken back to the world of the Narrows. The world building and legends of piracy and traders makes for a great read.

The audiobook, narrated by Ell Potter and Will Damron, was wonderful, and really made each character voice shine. as it alternated between the two POVS.

Elias is a seaman with his livelihood on the line and when he meets Isolde, a dredger with a big secret, his life gets even more complicated. If you’ve read the Fable books, this is the story of her mysterious parents.
I’d read and enjoyed Fable & Namesake but this didn’t live up to those for me. Fable’s parents are shrouded in mystery so I felt like there was a lot of potential here, but I just didn’t feel invested in either Elias or Isolde. I had a hard time getting into the book, enjoyed the plot once I did get far enough, but unfortunately closer the book feeling indifferent. Not a bad book by any means but unfortunately didn’t live up to its potential for me. It didn’t add to the original series for me. I know a lot of other people feel differently though!
The audiobook had 2 narrators which always makes a huge difference and I really appreciated.

I have to say that Adrienne Young’s writing is amazing! And I will continue to read anything she publishes in the future. Saint was absolutely perfect. I loved how we were able to see a young Saint and what lead to his actions in the other two books. I absolutely adored Saints relationship with Isolde and of course with Clove as well. I wish we had another book because there is definitely more to Saints and Isolde’s story. I loved how the book mention West, I literally screamed! Isolde and Saint reminded me so much of Fable and West. Besides the storyline the cover is absolutely gorgeous. I already own a physical copy and my book shelf looks amazing. I am definitely going to recommend Saint to my students to read. Thank you so much NetGalley for giving this amazing opportunity.

When I finished reading Namesake in early 2021, I did not expect to return to the world of the Narrows. Fable and West had their "happily ever after". Their ship would sail into the sunset with a (mostly) ending. When Adrienne Young announced "Saint" I was excited to revisit the world of pirates and traders all over again. I'm not sure if Young planned to write Saint the entire time, but I will say, the book definitely answered questions I didn't realize I had. Many of the familiar names from "Fable" made an appearance and I enjoyed seeing the backstory from another set of eyes.

Overall, while not a mandatory read to enjoy the series, the book was fun and I do reccomend it.

Adrienne Young does it again! She brings us back to the world of the Narrows and gives us a fantastic story about Fable’s parents; Saint and Isotle. This is the story I’ve been waiting for since I was first introduced to the character of Saint in the book, Fable.

Saint is such a beautifully written story that helps us get a look at how the Narrows we know now, became the Narrows. It shows us how ‘human’ Saint was before the loss of the love of his life. It helps answer so many questions and in my opinion was done in a very beautiful and heart-melting way.

After having the question of West’s parentage answered in this book, I really hope that Adrienne continues to give us more stories set in this world!

This perfect prequel to Fable and Namesake follows Elias (Saint) and Isolde's story.

We get to see the story of Saint and Isolde through Fable's eyes, so it was refreshing to see their own story played out. Going back into the world of the Narrows, full of pirates, liars, and the ocean, was a breath of sweet air. It was lovely to get a prequel, especially since I truly loved Fable and Namesake. So when I discovered Saint was coming out, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

There is one thing that I will say Adrienne Young writes some of the best "I would burn the world to the ground for you" romances. Without it feeling toxic and suffocating, this is what I usually feel about those romances. It becomes bittersweet because you know what happens to Saint and Isolde in the future—falling in love with these characters, only knowing that pain awaits them.

I also was super excited to get more of a background from Clove, Saint's best friend. I wish that we got to know him a bit more, or maybe that is just me wanting a Clove book. Hint, hint, please give us a Clove book. If anything, I love how badass Saint and Isolde was, and even the story of Zola was exciting to read about. How Zola and Saint's feud started, and how it ended in him going after Fable in the future.

I listened to this book as an audiobook, which was fantastic as it has a duel POV that Ell Potter and Will Damron narrate.
Thank you to Netgalley and Wednesday Books for allowing me to listen to this book early for an honest review.

Would I read infinite books in The Narrows? Yes.

Saint brings empathy to a character that held a lot of power in the Fable duology even though he had very little on-page time. And the dual-POV with Isolde ramped up the tension to an 11!

I’m likely the minority here… but I was okay with the minimal romance. I get it; it’s a harsh world out there and a short book — not much time for a slow burn. But I perhaps would have liked a little more segue from mutual fascination to “only one bunk”.

This series was a bit for me to get into but I will read anything in this world. Saint and Isolde's story is so great. Will totes be reread. A+ prequel

Since this is a prequel novel, I already knew quite a bit about these characters going into it (though this is the first time we get to read about Isolde during her life and not after her passing). I enjoyed getting some more backstory on Saint and how he became such a formidable trader in the Narrows during his daughters time. My main issue is that, though the story is named “Saint,” I felt the novel was actually very Isolde-centered. I get that the novel was meant to focus on their blooming love story and how Fable’s parents met to set up the foundation for her duology, but considering it was Saint’s book, I felt the majority of the focus was placed on Isolde’s backstory instead. I should say, I read this strictly as an audio book, which was well produced with two separate narrators for the different perspectives of Saint and Isolde’s alternating chapters.

We are once again in the world of The Narrows with this prequel to Fable. Elias is about to get all he’s ever wanted and make a place for himself in this hard world he’s living in. But he meets a dredger from the Unnamed Sea... and she’s more than a simple dredger, he can tell from their first meeting. She definitely has more than one secret... She's fascinating really. But Elias has a plan he must keep with and he can’t let feelings get in the way.

I was kind of obsessed with Saint already while reading Fable... so of course I NEEDED this book and it was simply fantastic. This is such a fascinating story, the whole book is so atmospheric and to finally get to know all about Saint & Isolde, see their story, really, I couldn’t be happier.

You get both characters' perspectives, which I absolutely adore! Their backstory is gripping and the whole universe you are in is just a delight to explore once more. If you have loved Fable duology, you can’t go wrong with this one. Not gonna lie, I’m hoping there will be another book about those two... cause it will never be enough!

The narration in this audiobook was amazing, the voices were perfect for these characters, I just felt like I was in the story with them. And, I am once again obsessed with that cover. Have you seen his eyes!

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Wow I loved this audiobook so much! The only minor complaint I have is that I couldn’t understand the audio at certain points. But it was an amazing story!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the audiobook!

What can I say? I've been hooked on the stories of The Narrows since reading Fable and this is one that I was highly anticipating. And it didn't disappoint. Honestly it left me wanting even more.

This story follows a young Saint as he meets Isolde and their love story begins to unfold. But it's not just a love story, it's not even mostly a love story. It's a tale of Saint coming up in the world, of the rise of The Narrows, of the brotherhood between Saint and Clove, of the politics of the Unnamed Sea and The Narrows. And of course there is romance and adventure on the high seas as well.

Saint is such an intriguing character, he was definitely one of my favorites when I read Fable and Namesake and I couldn't be more excited that he finally has his own book and we get to dig even deeper into his backstory. I love morally grey characters and I definitely consider Saint one. He's capable of so much love and loyalty but also capable of doing whatever it takes to get what he wants.

Learning Saint's backstory was so heartbreaking and really made me feel for him. This story added so many layers to Saint and that's exactly what you want from a prequel novel. And the romance between Saint and Isolde was so fun to watch. This book was everything I wanted and more.

Also the last line! We need a whole other two books in this world just based off that last line alone! I really hope there's more to come one day in the world of The Narrows.

I was thrilled to see Adrienne Young revisit the world of Fable. She writes some really great, strong characters and did a beautiful job with the world building. Saint intrigued me in Fable and Namesake so I knew I needed to check out this prequel. The narration is very good and really breathes life into the tale. Overall more of the same captivating writing from Adrienne Young. Well written, evenly paced, great characters with chemistry and tension.

I think if you loved the Fable duology then you would appreciate this book. You definely have to read it after the duology to really understand it and grasp everything. Its fun and gives some background into the characters of the originally series. I enjoyed my time reading this and loved being back in the world, the pirate vibes, and references to things that would evenually come up in the originally duology however I didn't think this was exciting as other books by the author. If you love this authors works or the Fable duology I think its a great read but its not necessary.

His name may be Saint, but he's definitely more of a sinner. As someone who hasn't yet read the other books in this series I didn't know what to expect from this book. In fact, I was worried I would be confused even if it is a prequel. However, to my surprise and delight, I wasn't at all. The world was super easy to dive into and I didn't need nostalgia from the other books to carry me through. All I needed was Saint, and Isolde. Their attraction, troubles and romance hooked me and I happily swam with the tide. This is a book of classes, betrayal, and romance. After reading this I will most assuredly be reading the other two books in this series. It was totally enjoyable!

This was fantastic, as all Adrienne Young books are. Adrienne has a way of really transporting you into the story, and you feel what the characters feel, even if that is salt from the ocean wind. I've loved every book in the series about The Narrows and I hope this one isn't the last. It was so nice to get a glimpse into Saint and Isolde's lives before the events of Fable and Namesake. I can't recommend this series enough. And the narrators for this audiobook were fantastic and really captured the story.

It was interesting to get that background and POV from Saint. It was something that I didn’t know I was missing but now that I’ve had it, it definitely felt like it’s always been a missing spot.

Thanks to NetGalley, I was able to listen to the audiobook early and I am so very grateful! While I hadn’t even jumped into the series at all at the time, I immediately checked them out from the library to experience the story as everyone else did, although listening to this one first was incredibly tempting.

We really get that inside look into Saint and his nonsense and I loved it. Saint really is a piece of work, but it serves him and it makes sense, especially with that inside glimpse we get into his thought processes. I really can’t complain.

The dual POV with matching dual narrators was perfect. I love it when multiple narrators work on multiple POV as it makes it easier to follow. There’s no question who we’re currently traveling with and it’s much appreciated. Both narrators knocked it out of the park. I’m happy with it.

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. There were a few places that I found lacking and others I found slow but overall it’s a recommendation from me.
