Gosh, I wish this was more than just a short story. It was really well written and I was immediately engaged, though I feel that a longer format would have done the story and especially the characters a little more justice.

Monica Adams Skips Christmas was a cute, fast paced novella with great bisexual representation for as short as it was. My biggest issue with this book was it definitely had too much going on for such a short read, but was entertaining none the less!

While I love the concept behind this novella, I didn’t always feel the emotional buildup between events and found myself wondering at times when the characters had got so invested in each other's lives. I think the background story that brought the lead back into town was intriguing and provided for a lot of potential emotional turmoil, but just wish there had been more time and development of the plot moving forwards. I’d be interested to see how the characters develop in the following novellas.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing this novella in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very middle-of-the-road book for me. But I do know people I can recommend this book to that will love and enjoy it.

Unfortunately I felt this book suffered from its short length in that too much was happening with too little time for it to be fully developed. Though I enjoyed some elements, I can only wish it had been longer to allow for things to occur more gradually.

OH BOY I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT. This book made me so angry I'm sorry. Monica's family dynamics were so screwed up and we never rlly got a chance to actually explore all that given that this was a novella. I mean, which mom's first reaction to her daughter talking about she was cheated on be, "I don't believe it. He won't do that!"? Make it make sense to me.

Maybe it was because this was a novella that this issue arose but the entire story felt so flat. There was no depth, no emotion. We didn't get time to get to know the characters better. I felt there were too many characters in this story for a novella so we didn't get enough time with any of them. Would've been so much better if the character count was reduced to half.

I think the only good thing about this book is how fast it ends cause it's so short.

Thanks NetGalley!

I fell in love with the cover and the fact that it had a holiday in the title and this book did not disappoint!
It was so cozy and cute, i loved every second of it.
I read it at the perfect time in my life and it felt like a warm hug.
I’m waiting for author’s other works rather impatiently.

Okay, I have a lot to say. First, I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. But this book was not for me. Not at all. So, I think the thing is that the novella format is not a good thing for a romance. I mean, it was so short, we did not get any real character development. But honestly, the characters were not a good part. I mean, the lovers did not have chemistry. Monica only has some with her grandpa, who is not an MC.
The book is too short for the plot to really develop. Also, miscommunication, why not, but with a less than 100 pages book, big no.
So yes, I didn't like it.
Gave it two stars because at least it was a short reading that can be fun at some point.

This was a really short book and I was able to read it in one sitting. It was a quick Christmas novella to really help get into the spirit of Christmas without over doing it.

It was a cute read. But now my cup of tea. I found the character development non existent and I was expecting something else.

Monica Adams is making her way home for Christmas. While she is excited to see her family, she is not looking forward to telling them that she is quitting school and that her longtime boyfriend broke up with her. While she arrives home, planning for the worst, she is pleasantly surprised when she hits it off with her upstairs neighbour Paige,
This was a quick read. Different than other Christmas books I have read. I think the premise was interesting, but I just didn't feel the connection between Monica and Paige and I felt like there was too much being packed into a novella.

Cute little Christmas story… way shorter than I was expecting and didn’t blow my mind or anything, but it was nice and sweet and my brain enjoyed the easiness of it.

This book was very quick with a lot packed into less than 70 pages. I barely felt any connection between Monica and Paige, just that Paige had a crush on Monica since the tenth grade and barely any feelings from Monica towards Paige. It was a lit focused on Mon’s familial issues and less romcom.

While this story was very cute, I felt that writing this particular book as a novella prevented the story from having any character development or depth that would have added attachment for the reader. The title doesn't really go with the story once it's fully read and I felt like I was reading more of a script of a story instead of a full story.

I would like to thank Southside Mountain Press for providing me with an ARC via NetGalley.

Thank you to NetGalley and Southside Mountain Press for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was not expecting such a tiny novella to be so captivating. I devoured this in one sitting. I adored the characters. Monica Adams Skips Christmas is a sapphic holiday novella featuring a bi Jewish Polish immigrant suffering the after effects of a breakup close to the holidays. When she returns home from college, her parents are always working, her elderly grandpa has taken over her room, her sister is super busy, and nobody seems to be excited that she's home. Nothing is going as she hoped, until she runs into her former classmate Paige.

This novella was only about 80 pages, but I think it could have been twice as long to give the characters even more time to develop. The plot tied up nicely but felt a little rushed at times. I'm giving this 3.75 stars.

This was the perfect Christmas read! The characters captured my heart from the beginning. I love a good novella when I'm in a rut and this did the trick! I would love a full length book following Monica and

Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to reivew.

First off there wasn’t a lot of Christmas in a book with Christmas in the title.

Secondly this book was not long enough. Personally if there was even 30 pages more they could have really explored the relationship between Monica & Paige. The way it was written left me unfulfilled with their relationship.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for an ARC copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review.

To be completely honest I did not have high expectations for this novella. I can't say why because I don't know. I thought it might be OK and the fact that it was a Christmas story was definitely a plus but still I only thought it would be mediocre. I am very happy to say that I was wrong. It was a charming Christmas story. It was written in first person so we only get the perspective of Monica's experiences. I don't mind that it just would have been nice to see things from Paige's point of view as well. It was unique in that Monica's family is from Poland and I believe she is the 1st generation American so we learned a bunch of Polish words and phrases. I liked that a lot. Paige is such a sweet and likable character and Monica finally notices her after her boyfriend that she should have dumped years ago dumped her. They start out as friends and Monica's feelings for Paige grow as they spend more time together. It was a novella so not a full novel but I felt the author did a good job of fleshing out the characters and story. I would enjoy a full length novel featuring these characters and showing how their lives and relationship progresses. I do recommend this and give it 4 stars.

A cute holiday novella that tackles different topics like school, break up, family expectations and different generations under one roof.

Monica heads home for Christmas when her boyfriend dumps her. It's one blow too many and she decides she's not gonna celebrate Christmas. Cue the cute upstairs neighbour.

I really liked this story despite it being so short. Usually these stories move fast and I have trouble getting into it but this story felt natural for me. It helps that the two MC's are really likeable.

An ARC was provided to me via Netgalley in return of an honest review.
