What a truly beautiful story of the true meaning behind what family means. The illustrations are incredible with vivid mastery that will captivate both children and adults alike. From the moment you open its vibrant pages, you are transported into a world filled with wonder and deep love. What sets this book apart is its ability to weave important life lessons seamlessly into the narrative.

The writing is engaging and easy to follow, making it perfect for read-aloud in any classroom setting or for families to enjoy on their own. The language is simple yet evocative, allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in the story.

Beautiful and heartwarming, and I promise I'm not just saying that because this story mirrors my own family so closely. (My own baba came to California for an economics degree, not medical, and he only had 3 daughters, not 6. But everything else is...pretty familiar!)

The illustrations are especially noteworthy - they are just so, so gorgeous, warm and colorful and rich and vibrant, and perfectly suit the vibrancy and warmth of this story of family, love, and togetherness.

Thank you so much to the publisher for the advance review copy!

This is a very sweet book about a father's love for his family and trans-generational love. The title is very well thought out, and I see a lot of great discussion opportunities when reading this book.

An immigrant story filled with illustrations with love and imagination.
"Baba's Gift," is a story narrated through the children (of an immigrant father)'s imagination. I love how they include the flowery vine from Baba's Persian carpet to the children's mental visions.
It is a "feel-good" book with a beautiful message to proudly embrace the culture and traditions that is passed on to us by our family.

A family hears the story of how their Baba (dad) came to America from Iran. The artwork is imaginative and beautiful, incorporating art from the rug Baba brought with him to America. The children pretend they are following young Baba along his journey. This book is pure love and beautiful artwork. It also discusses and has a few words in Farsi, which I hadn’t seen in a children book before.

Maheen's perspective, telling the story of her father's immigration to America, is touching, open, and full of love. This is a wonderful introduction for children, teaching the values and differences between countries and the ups and downs of immigration, while keeping an overall positive outlook at life's hardships. I was sad to see the book was finished and longed for more pages to turn. A great read!

In this picture book, an Iranian-American father tells his daughters about his immigration journey. The illustrations are nice and the story shares good messages, but I found that the book covered too many details without enough substance. The ending feels abrupt, and even though I appreciated the cultural details and occasional words in Farsi, I wanted more depth and more character development.

Baba's Gift is a picture book told through the eyes of the young children of an Iranian immigrant to the US. I wished the book went a little deeper and the illustrations were a little plain for me but overall very sweet and I enjoyed the bit of Farsi sprinkled in.

Thanks to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

When I see this book, I thought this would be like a dad's final words for his children. But I was wrong. This bittersweet book about a man who leaves his old life in Iran to be an American, how he has two world that have to be united in him, and his longing to go back home. His story is not new to us. Many of us travelled and not being able to return back home, but the old life we left behind sometimes calling us back. And this is his gift to his girls, and us the reader, on how to cope in these situations.

What a beautiful story. More immigrant narratives, please! I grew up in Houston, a rather diverse city. I knew quite a few Iranian Americans growing up. This was beautifully touching. Gorgeous illustrations. That bit about not teaching his daughters Farsi because it was too painful for him to hear the words of home? Hit me in the heart.

OMG! This book is so beautiful! I need to cry!

The storybook is beautiful inside out. I say the cover is stunning and the content is much more stunning!

This is the story of a Persian family with six daughters. Their father is much involved in everything they do and they are much attached to him. This is also the story of this man who struggled for his new life in another country.

So well illustrated and well written I say!

Thank you, Sasquatch Books, for the advance reading copy.

I love this book! It shares the story of a father's love for his family, his daughters, with themes of determination, transformation, memory, and love. I will share this with children, but is also an engaging and enduring story for adults. Highly recommended. Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC.
