This was a very sweet read for kids. Maggie Sparks is a kid and a witch, and she gets into trouble when she decides to start lying about everything. The illustrations in this book were great. The text felt very approachable for children, and it had a great lesson about telling the truth and about adults being present and involved in the kids' lives. I really enjoyed this book, and the fun sprinkled in with the magic was really well done. Thank you to NetGalley for giving me a digital copy of this book!

Such a cute book! This would be great as a classroom read.

The book does a great job teaching children about the value of honesty, even if you don’t want to tell the truth.

I loved this one because it has dragons. Such a cute episode. In a family with magic a secret well-kept, Bat gets transformed into a dragon for homework projects and the truth always gets out.
Maggie thinks that lying works best than telling the truth, then she will see the consequences of it. I love these chapter books and the illustrations.

This is such a lovely book for children! The story follows Maggie, a fun little girl who has a pet chameleon (Bat). In this book, Maggie learns an important lesson about lying. I loved that there were so many drawings of the characters in the book. This made it really fun to read. It was also nice to see how close Maggie and her family were.

I would definitely recommend this book for kids around the age of 7-8 years old.

Quick Summary: A magical story with a life lesson about truth, family, and friendship

My Review: Maggie Sparks and the Truth Dragon written by Steve Smallman and illustrated by Esther Hernando was too cute for words. Maggie was a special, little witch with much power and an ever-blossoming sense of wisdom. When an unfortunate wrong is committed against her, she allows it to change the way she interacts with the people around her. One thing leads to another, and suddenly truth bombs are dropped everywhere.

My Final Say: Young readers will adore Maggie and her magical ways. The story is fresh and filled with wonder.

Amazing chapter book. Mistakes made. Lessons learnt. Concerned adults dealing things in a mature way. Yes, way to learn from this book!

The whole story is realistic and quite enjoyable.

I find the illustrations really fun and it pops out though they’re in the shades of black, grey and white.

I will say the story will teach so many things. Perfect for the reading age group. And I would say it teaches a lot to the adult reading along with.

Thank you, Sweet Cherry Publishing, for the advance reading copy.
