I absolutely loved this novel of suspense when it first appeared in print, and was delighted to see it was being released on audio. Happily, my anticipation was richly rewarded. Imagine, for a moment, that you're an Irish scientist, immersed in your career in research and having just been offered a plum job in the UK after years in the US. Now, imagine that you're waiting anxiously on a street corner in London for your brother to show up and join you for dinner. Instead -- a bomb explodes. And many, many people are all too eager to make you the center of this conspiracy, thanks to your identity and personal history.... That's the starting point and premise of Henry Porter's excellent debut thriller, and its pace never flags, even as the author skillfully discloses one new twist or turn along the way to its resolution. When you've finished, you realize it's a pretty standard thriller as these things go, but the ride along the way was remarkable. I've re-read this book several times since picking it up in the pre-9/11 era when living in London, and the audiobook does full justice (and more) to this savvy, thoughtful and well-written thriller.

This book was pretty good but had a lot of details and storylines and was often hard to follow. Perhaps it's b/c I listened to the audio instead of eye-reading it. I also feel like the book was far longer than it needed to be and tended to drag along. Overall I liked the book and would read another book by this author.
