The brief graphic novel A Taste for Blood centers on Lou, a female serial murderer, and Aldo, an ex-con who becomes entangled in Lou's world. Without giving away the entire story, I can't really say much more. However, I can only say that in my opinion, it was somewhat underdeveloped.

I would have wanted to learn more about Aldo's past, particularly regarding his brother. That came as a bit of a surprise. Additionally, especially at the conclusion, there could have been more material focusing on Lou and Aldo's connection. Although I preferred the color scheme, I did not like the art style.

Thank you to Europe Comics and NetGalley for a free copy of this graphic novel for my honest review.

I thought this would be interesting because it focused on a female killer, but it was lackluster. I wish it were a bit longer so the main characters could be fully fleshed out. The mob element was very underwhelming, and the twist at the end did not improve the story. I liked the art style, so I gave it 3 stars.

I enjoyed the story that they were attempting to tell. I felt that the book was rather rushed and some key points were left out. It would have been more interesting with more back story on the characters. When they did explain the back story it was confusing and need more explaining. I appreciated the drawings and characters I just think it could have been better. To summarize its a good kids book for a quick read.

I don’t know what exactly I expected out of this graphic novel but it was still fun to read. It wasn’t quite long enough for me to have too many thoughts on it. I liked the art style and would check out something from them again.

The copy of this I read was an ARC from NetGalley.

If you are looking for a graphic novel to just pass the time, maybe you should give this book a try. I would not take the story so seriously. It follows a former mobster named Aldo and he happens to meet a woman named Lou. Lou just murdered her husband. Aldo and Lou's messes become even bigger when people from Aldo's past resurface. It was a fine read.

This graphic novel follows Aldo and Lou, a former mafia member and a woman who has murdered her husband - who may have had some mob dealings. Now they are caught up in a feud that goes beyond what they expected to be dealing with. This is a very adult graphic novel, with lots of violence as the cover, title, and synopsis suggest. That being said, I really liked the art style and the pacing. The lettering matches the story well and effectively conveys the necessary information. The coloring is great and I enjoyed the story. I don't tend to read mafia related stories, but this one was very interesting. Europe Comics publishes yet another fascinating and entertaining story from great comic creators!

I found this on NetGalley and decided to give it a go, I loved the idea of the stereotypical roles being reversed so instead the man is thrown into a female killers chaotic life. Very predictable but the art style was very appealing, I especially loved the lavender tones used for safety.

Before the review I just want to say I was prepared for graphic material coming in- I mean the title and cover page alone made that clear. However I’m not sure I was ready for how graphic it was, so just be prepared and aware of that.

Let’s start off with the artwork: it was nice and detailed.

The story itself was good, it kept my attention from start to finish. Although I will say some parts felt glossed over. It felt like I missed part of the story and would have liked to see more dialogue/ context to feel I got the story in full.

Trigger Warning: I also had to dock some points for some animal violence, it was brief but I can’t stand it.

Overall enjoyed the story and interested to see where the story goes next.

This is a graphic novel about a woman living alone in a cabin after discovering her husband secretly did financials for the mafia to deal with his gambling debt, and a man who seeks refuge in her house as he’s on the run from the same mafia. The plot isn’t overly complex & it has a small cast of characters: the 2 mcs, 3 mobsters, a dopey small town cop & a corrupt mayor. Can they survive when they’re one of the mafias most wanted?

I also liked the art style, and altho it wasn’t my fave from a graphic novel ever it defo matched the vibe of the story. So yeah, overall I recommend!

This is a great little crime-comedy graphic novel, and a self-contained single story perfect for readers with a little time to kill but not wanting the commitment of beginning a lengthy series.

We follow two main characters; Aldo and Lou, one a gangster escaping from the mob, and the other a widow who has just murdered her husband.

The killing and bloodbath aside this is a fun little story. It has a light-hearted tone to it, and I just adored the illustration style.

I would definitely recommend picking this one up and giving it a try if quirky dark comedy is your thing. I think this one could be a winner!

Thank you to Europe Comics and Netgalley for providing an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

A Taste for Blood is a great little read. Its a self-contained story about two strange individuals who found camaraderie with each other. Aldo is a former mobster looking to escape the mob and Lou is a widow who had just murdered her husband and needs help disposing of his body. With the mob and police both suspicious of these two, Aldo and Lou find themselves in a series of difficult scenarios.

This story is a bloodbath, that's for sure. I recommend this graphic novel for lovers of true crime and thrillers, both of whom would enjoy this short, funny little story. A great read.

This was a fun read about a guy being scapegoated who happen to find himself in the midst of a killing spree.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
The story follows Aldo, a former member of the mob, as he finds his way onto Lou's farm. While on the farm, Aldo and Lou find themselves in trouble with the mob, due to both Aldo and Lou's pasts. With the trouble, "wrong man" hijinks ensue leading to bloody and darkly comic misunderstandings.
I thought that this was an interesting story. Aldo was portrayed as the lovable oaf, while Lou was the hard-hearted widow. While there was plenty of blood, this definitely had a comic side.

The cover is definitely eye-catching, and I liked the dynamic between the main characters Lou and Aldo. Although I would have liked to know a little more about Aldo, because he really had a lot of potential, especially in a certain scene that defines the decision between life and death. On the other hand, the final scene was definitely required. Overall I was quite entertained despite certain details that I think were missing.

I kept reading but the story was just ok. I found characters were flat .

I don’t really recommend this one

This was super cute! A mafia scapegoat fresh out of prison runs into a farm wife who just murdered her husband. They team up, shenanigans ensue. The story was fun, lighthearted even with all the murder and blood, and was just a treat to read!

This is a quick and fun read!

The story follows Aldo, an ex-mobster who has just been released from jail, and Lou, an accidental murderer with a seemingly growing taste for killing. Together, they make an unlikely but ultimately strong team against the mafia.

The illustrations were pretty cool! The especially graphic art really added to the dark humor aspect of the storyline. Also, I felt like there were several tropey scenes that I could see making a good fit for a satirical and action-filled television show.

I would have liked it if this graphic novel was a bit longer! I thought that the banter between Aldo and Lou was really funny and would have liked to see more of it. Additionally, the ending felt a bit rushed. It felt like there was a lot of buildup, and the story/action could have wrapped up in a longer and more satisfying manner.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to what's next!

This is the story of Aldo, an ex mobster, and Lou, a woman who just killed her husband, and the series of misunderstandings that springs from their meeting.

I had to admit I wasn't really into the art style at first, but it definitely grew on me the more I read the story, and in the end I think it really suits the mood of it!
I didn't really know what to expect, I often go in blind when it comes to Graphic Novels haha but I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was very entertaining.

***SPOILER ABOUT THE DOG!!!!*** she lives!! I was honestly this close to DNF it because the dog was shot but she lives!!!

This was a VERY quick read, if you're looking for something to fill up a quarter of an hour then this is a relatively fun ride.
Honestly, I was enjoying it until the 'battle' scene. It was super confusing and I didn't recognise a couple of the characters, not sure who died and who didn't, and the ending was just as confusing. I gave this 3 stars because the first part was fun, but then it went downhill so fast that the last third of the book just stayed at rock bottom.
For this to be better, I'd make it longer so we can get some character development from all characters - I think Aldo was well-developed but I wanted more from Lou. I'd also include some mentioned but omitted events such as the killing of the husband and a longer section about what led Aldo to be imprisoned.
Overall this is mindless fun, but don't expect too much depth.
