It was a quick read. The artwork was really interesting and i was very intrigued by the storyline description. But once i started reading it, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

The plot of this graphic novel really intrigued me at the start. A women who had just killed her husband teaming up with an ex mafia member what's more to love? Sadly for me my love for the book ended there. I feel like there was so much potential that just wasn't reached here. A lot of the time I was actually left confused when there was a sudden jump in the scenes. Overall the premise was very interesting but the execution wasn't there.

I received this and as an eARC to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Europe Comics for giving me access.

Well, this one was an interesting graphic novel. The storyline was different but intriguing enough to keep me reading. What really drew me in was the art style and color palette. I am pretty picky when It comes to GN but this one drew me in and I am glad it did.

This one won't be for everyone but it was enjoyable enough for me.

Thank you to NetGalley, author, Debuhme, and Europe Comics and for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review. A Taste for Blood is a great dark-humor graphic novel. The illustrations are exaggerated, gory, and unpredictable! I loved the mafioso MMC was a big softy and the FMC was a strong, independent farmer.

Thank you NetGalley/publishers for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was very intrigued by the cover and the synopsis. I loved the art alot, it was cute and fun but the plot was pretty average and I feel like it could have been more interesting. I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to.

This is a comic book that I got from NetGalley to review! The bright red on the cover drew me right in.

It’s a quick, funny read, and I’m glad it’s my first completed this year. I needed something light, and this was it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s blood and dangerous!

A mafioso gets out of jail on good behavior, wanting nothing more than to get back to his mafia family. When a car accident leaves him stranded, the woman that takes him in does nothing but complicates things.

The artwork is fun, somewhat exaggerated and silly. I enjoyed it, and again I was happy for a quick read.

Personally a 3/5* for me.

As with most comics, it was a little shallow on details and development, but because it’s so fast to read it’s still great fun.

To be honest this was a bit underwhelming for me. The story had potential in the beginning but it started to drag early on. The characters gave the impression that they were not entirely fleshed out.

I thought this was fun, but with dark humour. When Aldo, a mobster, is released from jail, he inadvertently meets Lou who lives on a farm near a deserted forest with her dog and pigs. What Aldo doesn’t know is that Lou has just murdered her husband who was the accountant for the local mafia and he owed the mafia money. The mafia are Aldo’s former gang members who double crossed him and when they realise Aldo has been released and is with Lou, the clock to the show down starts ticking, but not before a few more bodies are disposed of.

This was gory and funny, with ridiculous twists and turns, and some very peculiar henchmen. The artwork was quirky and colourful, and complimented the story in a great way. If you like a bit of gore with your humour then this is for you.

This gn is a quick read, and, unfortunately, somehow still too long. I don’t want to give too much away as I want each reader of this book to go in and come out with their own experiences.

At the end of the day, I ask only a few things from a gn:

1. Underlying themes: This had so much potential and sadly little reward. The first third alluded to the dangers of stereotyping, feminism (okay, albeit in a kind of twisted and subversive way), compassion and friendship, and psychopathy. But it didn't deliver or develop these important themes that would have carried a far stronger plot than they did.

2. Visually pleasing art, inking, colouring, and lettering (not that I'm fussy...): this book really didn't tick a lot of these boxes for me. I found the artwork too cartoonish, and all the characters just ended up as caricatures of themselves. Again, the first third was strong even in its art and then downslided. I love a bit of blood and gore, but even these scenes struck me as so stylised as to be offensive.

3. Plot, right?: Here's the thing - it started well and then got kind of chaotic and slapstick for me. Yes there were some good jokes (like the mafia having "a real work ethic", or a homicidal housewife making necklaces out of ears), but not enough to hold my interest; not at all a tight narrative.

Overall, I found this a really tough read. I guess my two stars go to the humour and the strong first third. Yes, gns are so personal and subjective to readers, because of the complex relationship between art and narrative - please bear this in mind as much as I have.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Debuhme, and Europe Comics for access to this arc in return for an honest and unbiased review.

A story of a strong farming woman and a soft mafia guy and their first meeting. I enjoyed the story, especially as it picked up and we even had a small mystery aspect in there. This made the story interesting. I sometimes had problems to follow the pictures and had wished for a few more panels to explain. Otherwise the characters are funny and I would say the main genre remains comedy. I recommend it for a short funny read if you're a fan of mystery! After the ending I hope there's another volume to come and this'll turn into a series.

Mafia guy ends up saved by a farm girl. Mafia guy is the softy, farm girl is scary. Turns out farm girls husband was an accountant doing the books for the Mafia that the Mafia guy belonged to. She's blood thirsty and he vomits at the sight of fresh blood.
This was cute and wild and absolutely ridiculous and gruesome and had the sweetest ending. Aldo is the sweetest and he's definitely soft on Lou.
There's loads of death and crime and it's quite graphic so proceed with caution but I think if you like violent and cozy then this might be the right mix of wtf for you.

This was a very quick read, which I'm kind of thankful. The story had promise but didn't really follow through with it, the characters were pretty one dimensional and stereotypical, and the end made my eyes roll 😬 It took me a while to get into the art style, I found it a little confusing and jarring, but that could just be bc my phone screen is on the small side.

Maybe if you like mafia stories you'll enjoy this more! It just fell a little flat for me. Thanks NetGalley and Europe Comics for the arc.

I’m not sure what to make of this honestly. The art is giving ‘American newspaper political comic’ style, but the muted/pastel type colours are nice and feel kinda retro.

As for the plot, I was intrigued by the idea of a team-up between an accidental killer and an ex-mafia guy, but almost immediately it is established that the ‘accidental’ killer actually tends more towards ‘psycho murderer’ for no particular reason. Add in the fact that the mafia guy is in actuality very reluctant and doesn’t really have much helpful knowledge to give in the end, and you get this plot filled with flat characters and disjointed events.

All in all it’s not too bad, just pretty surface level

Unfortunately this wasn’t for me and I DNF’d about 60-70% in. Lackluster characters with no emotional ties or even interesting personalities. I was heavily drawn into it by the premise and the cover art but that just wasn’t enough.

Found on Netgalley, and decided to check it out. I’m not the best at reviewing graphic novels, but I’ll do my best, so bear with me! The art style goes really well with the story, and the character designs were fun to look at. I enjoyed the general premise of the book, but the dialogue felt out of place and awkward. The fast pace made this a quick read, but left no room for character development, especially when it came to Lou. With the pacing, the plot twists just didn’t land.

Thank you to Netgalley!

ARC received from Netgalley in return for honest feedback.

This is a quick little book, that's a bit too fast paced for my liking, but has a lot to fit into less than 120 pages. I enjoyed the art, and the character designs, especially that of the Lobster, but otherwise it was lacking to me in the story department. I felt like a lot of really interesting things could have been done with this concept, but the short length really got in its way.

The art style was simplistic and paired with the plot it was quite boring overall. It was an okay read but nothing I’d rush to read again or read sequels of.

This is great for a quick read if you're wanting to venture into something a little different. But it was very predictable and tropey and it was pretty underdeveloped with little payoff in the end for my taste. There's a lot of promise and I think it was an easy read if you're not expecting something wildly engaging. One of the times when you hope for more and it feels like you settled at the end.

This wasn’t what I was expecting, so unfortunately this was not a great experience for me. The artwork really was not my style, and the story was all over the place. The premise and synopsis were promising, but the execution (no pun intended) fell flat for me.

unfortunately, a bit of a slog to get through, despite the pretty cover. the art isn't terrible, but it feels pretty simple and a little boring. the plot has potential, but it felt bogged down.
