Freida 👏🏻 Is 👏🏻 The 👏🏻 Greatest 👏🏻 Thriller 👏🏻 Writer 👏🏻 Of 👏🏻 All 👏🏻 Time.

Those that have been following me for a while, know that The Housemaid is my favorite book. Probably ever. So, when I saw @fizzziatrist wrote a sequel, I could barely contain my excitement.

This book takes us back to the insane life of a Housemaid named Millie, there were characters referenced from the first book as well as some other references (I don’t want to spoil in case you haven’t read the first one yet). This book had the shocking twist that Freida McFadden is so well at, and the book was one I absolutely could not put down. This was a fantastic sequel, and I can’t wait to see if there will be more Millie adventures in the future. Thank you @bookouture and @netgalley for the ARC. Pick this book up when it’s released in February.

I’m so honored to be able to be picked to read this highly anticipated sequel to “The Housemaid” which was one of my favorite books I read this year. I’m giving this a stellar 5 stars because this kept me on the edge of my seat, even the last couple of pages. Freida McFadden is the queen of twists! I can say after reading “The Housemaid” I figured I could pick out how “The Housemaid’s Secret” was going to go..but boy was I wrong! Freida McFadden writes relatable characters and makes her writing seem like you can picture it as you are reading it. I enjoyed this one so much!!

Wow! So good I couldn't put it down! Freida has once again out done herself! It had me hanging on every word with all the twists and surprises. I highly recommend this book as it will have you hooked from the first page to the last!

The Housemaid's Secret by Freida McFadden was a surprise sequel, and one that I didn't know I needed. I adored The Housemaid, and what a treat it was to visit Millie once again.

Millie has recently lost her job and is thrilled when Douglas Garrick offers her a well-paid position in his gorgeous New York apartment. Here she can keep her head down and guard herself and her past. The fly in the ointment, however, is Wendy Garrick, the lady of the house, who is hidden away in a secluded room. What are the Garricks concealing, and can Millie continue in their employ, keeping their secrets as closely guarded as her own?

This is a thrilling follow-up that kept me glued to the pages throughout. Millie is a deliciously complex protagonist, and I believe that we have only scratched the surface of her depths. I would dearly love to see this series continue.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC! This was one of my highly anticipated thrillers of 2023 so I’m very happy I got to read it early. The Housemaid’s Secret continues Millie’s story from The Housemaid as she moves on with her life after the first book.

I really enjoyed this one, but not as much as the first one. The twists were good and I do enjoy Millie as a character, I just felt this one wasn’t as exciting as book one. Freida will always be an auto-buy author for me and I love her books so much!

Freida McFadden does it again! I was excited, but hesitant when I started reading, I thought that the hype I had built up in my own head was going to leave me disappointed, but wow, I was wrong! This book will keep you on your toes and wanting more!

Wow!!!! What a sequel! The Housemaid’s Secret kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t stop reading until I finished it. I love how Freida McFadden’s books tell just the right about of detail. There’s never too much detail where you are bored and start skimming chapters. I love the character development in this book too. I was truly rooting for Millie as this book took me on an adventure I didn’t see coming. 5 stars!

Millie is back! She is hired by the wealthy Garrick family to clean their house, cook, and runs errands. While working, she is told by Douglas Garrick that his wife Wendy is very sick, and not to bother her. Of course, Millie finds it strange that Mrs. Garrick won't come out of her room and is heard crying many times. When she finds blood in the bathroom one day, she asks Wendy to open the bedroom door and that's when she finally see's that Wendy is in trouble. Will Millie be able to help her escape her abusive husband??

WOW!! THE HOUSEMAID'S SECRET did not disappoint. I am constantly blown away by Frieda McFadden's books. I don't want to say too much more but.... expect the unexpected. This is one twisty book you will have a hard time putting down. The ending was brilliant and I can't wait now until Freida has another book for me to read. I am a HUGE fan and I will be recommending this one to all my friends. I do, however, suggest reading THE HOUSEMAID first, to get the full story!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This review will be shared on my Instagram (@coffee.break.book.reviews) in the near future.

WOW. I discovered Freida McFadden this year and she has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I read The Housemaid earlier this year and it is one of the best books I’ve read all year. So I was excited to see a sequel and so thankful to be approved for an ARC. I always approach sequels with some apprehension as it is rare that a sequel is just as good or better than the original. There was no need for that apprehension here!

Let me tell you, Freida hit this one out of the park! I devoured this book in mere hours. I could not put it down. So many twists. Just when I thought I knew where something was going, bam! Surprise twist! And the characters!! I want to meet and become BFFs with Millie! Loved getting to know more about her. Throughout the whole book I wanted to reach through the pages and give her a high five or a hug!

Freida, please please please make this a continuing series!! I need more vigilante Millie!!

This exceeded my already high expectations! Millie has a rather colorful and eventful past. When Millie takes on a job working for the Wendy and Douglas Garrick, she suspects something strange when Wendy never leaves the bedroom.

She befriends Wendy and unravels some past and present drama. But are people really who they say they are? What happens when someone wants revenge and doesn't get what they want?

December 8, 2022...the day that Freida broke NetGalley! When it was announced in her Facebook group that 100 copies would be released by her publisher to her group members first, the hysteria was greater than any Black Friday sale I'd ever seen. I secured a copy, counted the minutes until work was done, and got home and started reading. Dinner wasn't cooked, texts were ignored, and laundry was overflowing, but nothing could tear me away from this book.

Y'all. If you have to wait until February to read this book, I'm going to weep softly for you because this book is simply amazing. First, if you haven't read THE HOUSEMAID, get your life together and read it because you'll need the back story and characters to be established before starting this one. All I can tell you is that Millie became known for more than just taking out the trash in book one, and when she's let go from a lucrative job because an absent parent was chagrined over her toddler calling Millie "Mama," she can't believe her good fortune when millionaire Douglas Garrick calls her to offer her a job.

The Garricks' penthouse is stunning, and the pay surpasses her wildest expectations, but Millie is troubled by Mrs. Garrick's absence. Douglas explains that his wife is ill and sleeps a lot, which Millie accepts...until the day she hears crying from behind her closed bedroom door and finds blood on her white nightgown. She breaks the rules and knocks on the door, and when the door opens, Millie is stunned. She vows then and there to make Douglas pay.

If that sounds wild, that's part one. Part two will remain spoiler-free, but you do need to know I exclaimed "What the actual f*#k!" more than once. Freida doesn't mess around with her twists, and they are delivered precisely and effortlessly. I've long given up trying to predict her endings; I just sit back and enjoy the dark humor that permeates many of her stories and trust the ride that she takes me on. Released to the masses on February 20, 2023, but when that link goes live on NetGalley again, you need to have your account in order!

Millie is working as a housekeeper to fund her college course to become a social worker. Her ex-boyfriend, Enzo had teamed up with her to assist women who were abused, until he had to return to Italy.
She gets a job with a fabulously rich man, Douglas Garrick, whose wife is confined in a spare room.
Millie hears crying, crashes and arguments between the couple, and suspects that Wendy is being abused by her husband, and decides to help her. It is probably the worst decision Millie could ever have made.

Oh, Freida McFadden. You are a master of twists and turns in a novel! I could not stop reading this! I fell asleep in the early hours of the morning, having just 20% of the book to go!
I applaud you for the "what did I just read?" twists and all of my assumptions were way off the mark. And I mean way off!
I am so pleased to have been chosen to read this book, and thank the publishers, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read it in exchange for an honest review.
If I could give 20 out of 5 stars for the book, I would. My mind is still spinning!

The Housemaid’s Secret follows Millie from book 1 as she navigates her life a few years after the incidents that occurred in The Housemaid. She seems to have her life on the right track with her perfect boyfriend, college course and housemaid job. That is until she loses her job and is offered another one by Douglas Garrick…. He seems very charming, but is he everything he appears to be?

Although The Housemaid’s Secret is the second book in a series with some of the same characters, it is great that you can actually read this book as a stand-alone. It does not spoil anything from the first book and only two characters overlap.

I absolutely loved that the plot was similar to the first book but also, completely different! It seemed at times the reader is completely aware of where the plot is going and the conclusion, only for Freida McFadden to do a total 180 and bring twists in you just was not expecting which just made the book even more engaging.

Freida McFadden is an incredible author and I can’t wait to read more of her work.

This book was okay but it didn’t pack the same punch as The Housemaid. I found the twists to be interesting but semi-predictable, and I was not as invested in the love story sub-plot. I love McFadden’s book but this wouldn’t be at the top of my list .

📕 The HouseMaid’s Secret
✍🏿 Freida McFadden
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was super elated when I got a copy of The HouseMaid’s Secret from @netgalley ❤️ Sincere thanks to @bookouture and like always Freida McFadden never disappoints!! Another jaw dropping thriller 🖤

✨✨✨✨
“Don’t go in the guest bedroom.” A shadow falls on Douglas Garrick’s face as he touches the door with his fingertips. “My wife… she’s very ill.” As he continues showing me their incredible penthouse apartment, I have a terrible feeling about the woman behind closed doors. But I can’t risk losing this job—not if I want to keep my darkest secret safe…

It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.

It’s almost perfect. But I still haven’t met Mrs Garrick, or seen inside the guest bedroom. I’m sure I hear her crying. I notice spots of blood around the neck of her white nightgowns when I’m doing laundry. And one day I can’t help but knock on the door. When it gently swings open, what I see inside changes everything…

That’s when I make a promise. After all, I’ve done this before. I can protect Mrs Garrick while keeping my own secrets locked up safe.

Douglas Garrick has done wrong. He is going to pay. It’s simply a question of how far I’m willing to go…
✨✨✨✨

It was hard to put down twisted thriller. Anything I say about the characters would be a spoiler. An absolute wild ride I would say. The book is releasing on Feb 2023 and definitely read this one if you are into thriller reads. It will keep you riveted for sure ❤️

Wow is all I have to say. Freida has done it again. I just got the arc today and am already done with the book! I could not put it down. The twists and turns of the plot have you wondering on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book. Such a great addition following the first housemaid story! Highly recommend!

Freida has done it again! This book grabbed my attention on the first page, and I couldn’t put it down. The twists and turns kept me guessing until the last page. This is a book you don’t want to miss!

The most PERFECT sequel to one of my favorite thrillers of 2022. It’s hard to write a review that won’t spoil the story, especially if you’ve never read The Housemaid, but just know that this series is an absolute must, especially if you’re in a reading slump and want a quick, bingey read!!! I was at the end of my sit from the prologue onwards and despite all the thrillers I’ve read, I couldn’t catch the big twists!

Thank you Bookoture for the ARC! Out 2/20/23

Sequels often disappoint, but "The Housemaid's Secret" isn't one of those sequels. It's everything I loved about the first book but didn't feel duplicative. Dare I say...I think I loved this one more?! Freida McFadden's books are so fun to read. The characters all have a certain charm, and the twists are plentiful. Bravo, and thanks for the advance review copy.
