The long anticipated sequel to The Housemaid landed on my Kindle today! Thank you Bookouture, Freida and Netgalley. I'm very grateful to have been chosen to read this advanced copy.

What a fantastic read! It's was so nice to read about Millie again! What a wonderful character. It was nice to catch up on what was going on since we last saw her in book 1. Freida of course has done it again with her twists and turns and WTF moments!! That ending, WOW! She is such a brilliant writer, and amazes me everytime she releases a new book. This book is just as good if not better than the first one! And that's saying alot!!

ARC review:The Housemaid's Secret
🥦🥦🥦🥦🥦 5 Stalks of Broccoli from me!! This review containers no spoilers.

If you loved The Housemaid then you will love The Housemaid's Secret even more!! Freida delivers an engrossing story with a cast of new characters and some old favorites!

The novel tells the story of a housemaid that starts work for a very rich man in a beautiful penthouse, however he claims his wife is very sick and the housemaid is told to never open her door and bother her. Over the course of the days the housemaid gets more uneasy about the situation with the woman behind the door, when she opens it, HOLD ON, because you are in for a ride. In true Freida fashion, no one and nothing is as it seems, who can you trust and who is deceiving you?!

I was able to figure out a few of the surprises/twists throughout the book, but there were quiet a few that I didn't figure out until right as they were happening. Another twisty book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, you don't want to miss out on this one!

Another favorite from Freida! The second half of the book has twists and turns that I did not see coming. I love that about Freida books! Couldn't put it down!

4.5 stars. Millie is back! I loved the Housemaid, and I was so excited to pick up the sequel. McFadden delivers an equally bingeable second book. Even though I foresaw one of the major twists, I love how McFadden writes her domestic suspenses, and her books are quickly become reliable binge-reads. I am excited to dive into her backlist next year.

Allow me to pick my jaw up off the floor as I proceed to write this review. I was completely floored and had to pick my jaw up off the floor on many occasions throughout this book. Holy hell Frieda sent me on a whirlwind who dunnit and had me thinking as always I knew but wow wow wow wow I was wrong as always. In true Frieda fashion she has delivered yet again another fast paced page turning psychological thriller to her beloved fans and I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars but thats all they allow us. I highly recommend this if you get the opportunity to read it before its released otherwise run dont walk on release day and snag your copy and cancel your plans cause this is not one that can be started and put down to come back to at a later date.
Thank you for the opportunity to be able to get an ARC of The Housemaid's Secret I loved it and will for sure read it again as its one of my top 10 fave reads of 2022.

Wow! I really enjoyed The Housemaid, so I was excited and privileged to get an ARC of The Housemaid's Secret. I ignored all responsibilities and devoured this within a few hours. I am blown away!

This sequel follows the main character from the first novel, and now word has gotten around about services Millie can provide for those who need it. She finds herself in another predicament and scrambling to get out, and the twists that Freida McFadden throws are abundant in this one!

I love that you don't have to have read The Housemaid to love this book (though it does add to the story!). I also love that there's always the possibility of more to come from Mille and Freida McFadden with this story!

The Housemaid was one of my favorite books this year so I was so excited to get this book to see what happens next. Frieda does not disappoint as you think the story is going one way then BAM! You are thrown for a loop as the rug is pulled out from underneath you and you are left reeling in the shock that just happened. That is why I loved this book. WOW! that ending just brilliant never could have predicted that.

Millie is someone who you can't help for root for. I was so happy that Enzo came back as they were so good together.

Read this whole book in one sitting as I was just so enthralled in the book and couldn't wait to read it all.

Firstly, I’m a McFadden fan. Her work is always fun & twisty; I find the pages always flip fluidly when I’m reading her work.
But unfortunately, this one was not for me. I found it completely unbelievable and convoluted. I couldn’t wrap my head around any of these far-fetched scenario’s. First half, is the housemaid’s POV. Second half, it switches up. Neither of the POV’s felt genuine or remotely plausible.
I was incredulous throughout the duration.

That being said, I will always read her work.
Pub date 2.20.23.
Thanks to NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Millie is back in the sequel to The Housemaid. I did not like this one as much as the first.

Millie has spent her time after the Winchester’s helping other women in need with the help of Enzo. They part ways and Millie gets a job working for Douglas Garrick, cooking and cleaning. After her previous experiences she is alarmed to know that Wendy, Douglas’s wife is scarcely seen and when she is she has bruises everywhere. Millie insists she help Wendy escape. However, the plan backfires and Millie finds herself in hot water with the police.

The Housemaid’s Secret is available February 20,2023.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoture for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Wow - Freida has done it again!!!
The Housemaid is one of my top favorite books of this year (and ever) so I was obviously extremely grateful and thrilled to be able to read a copy of The Housemaid’s Secret. The Housemaid’s Secret could technically be a stand alone book, however if you plan on reading both, definitely read The Housemaid first.
The Housemaid’s Secret immediately grabs your attention, thanks to Freida’s magical writing. Each page truly captivates you, making it near impossible to put the book down. If you are familiar with Freida’s books, you are aware there is no such thing as “okay - just one more chapter”.
The Housemaid’s Secret was amazing - start to finish as it follows Millie again from The Housemaid. However this time, she is on a different adventure. I literally held my breath the whole time in angst in trying to figure out the twist, and of course, as always, Freida throws us the unexpected, unpredictable ending. I hope to one day be able to read a third book, continuing this story. While I am still pleased with the ending, I of course want to read more. I highly recommend reading this book, as well as all of Freida’s books!

This was a very fast-paced, easy and engaging read. I loved The Housemaid (the first book to which this is the sequel) and equally enjoyed this one. I think both books are Freida's best work and if she continues this way there's no stopping her success! One of my favourite authors! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Freida McFadden for this ARC in return for a honest opinion. Like always, Mrs. McFadden kept me up all night with her exceptional writing skills and let me tell you, it was worth every minute of sleep
I lost. This was a great sequel that kept me captivated the whole time. This book blew me away with all the twists and turns. Excellent book. 5 stars.

Oh my word. I don’t know how she does it. But Freida McFadden is the QUEEN of plot twists. And let me tell you…. there were twist after twist. The twists had twists!

In true Freida fashion , I was hooked from the very start !! And the book kept a super fast pace throughout which is what I love about her books. Never a dull moment and very hard to put down!!

There were moments where I’m not sure I was even breathing. When they say “I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding” I usually laugh or roll my eyes … until now because that is exactly what was happening to me throughout this entire book !! Thank god for Freida’s humour because I needed it when I was scared to death!

When I heard there was going to be a sequel to one of my all time favourite books, ( which you absolutely need to read The Housemaid first !! ). .. I was SO excited… but also wondering how it would ever be topped. And well she did it !! I loved every second of this!! And loved catching up with Millie !! 🥰

One of my favourite parts about Freida’s books is she leaves no unanswered questions, which a lot of thrillers tend to do , and for me , that drives me insane. I love being able to close a book without any lingering questions.
Freida’s signature epilogue ties everything in nicely and you never want to miss a Freida epilogue!!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Freida for the opportunity to get this book early to review!

Wow! This book did not disappoint! I finished this book in less then a day; I could not stop reading it! I was fully immersed in the story and thought I had it all figured out and then a complete twist. I would have never seen that ending coming!

I was thrilled to be on the blog tour for this one. My date isn't until February, but there was no way I was waiting until then to read it. The Housemaid, the first book, was one of my favourite reads this year (only pipped to the post by Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister) and one of those books that just BLEW MY MIND.
So yes, I rapidly finished my read and dove in to the sequel!
This is utter genius. As the plot literally unravelled in front of me, I was in awe. Freida McFadden, you are a master at plotting your books. This should be a set text in creative writing school! Whilst there wasn't a 'wait, WHAT?!' moment as with it's predecessor, this is unbelievably clever. So many twists, I could barely keep up! I did have to put it down at one point, just to get it clear in my brain! It is a totally thrilling read, and thoroughly enjoyable. I haven't read a book that fast since the first book!
Fabulous.

This book delivers in spades everything you want from a domestic suspense book that you can plow through in record time! Loved getting to hang out with Millie again and cringing along with all the mischief she finds herself in!

I truly enjoyed this book! In true Freida style, the first chapter hooks you right in. The writing style makes for easy reading and you find yourself swept into the story and trapped in there because it is too exciting to put down, especially after the halfway mark where the book picks up an even faster pace! The book is clever not because the author uses pompous words or include philosophical quips but because of the red herrings along the way (which will drive you NUTS. I thought I KNEW IT but of course I didn't), the humour employed, and plot twists scattered throughout the book.
In terms of characters, well, there is Millie and a whole host of others who may or may not have been in The Housemaid so you have MORE people to suspect!!!. You can absolutely trust no one. If you have read enough of Freida's books, you'd know that.
As for plot, as far as my experience goes, it is pretty solid. None of the glaring "how could this be logical?" sentiments after closing the book (which happens with some other thrillers by other authors). There are no unanswered questions or unresolved issues bugging me after I finished the story, so I felt that the ending was pretty neat.
This book should be enjoyed AFTER The Housemaid because there are references made to it. Also, if you read The Housemaid's Secret first, it will spoil the first book for you (and there is NO ONE who should ever miss reading The Housemaid)! And as usual, there is an epilogue which you absolutely must read til the end.
Thanks for Netgalley for this ARC!

I was so excited to get the opportunity to read a Frieda ARC, and Frieda did not disappoint! I think this is the first time I’ve enjoyed a sequel more than the first! I did not see that ending coming at all. And as always the epilogue is the icing on the cake.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and to Frieda and her team on Facebook for coordinating the chance to give some fans an advanced read!

Excellent, as always. I'd say it's almost as good as the Housemaid, which is hard to achieve with a sequel. I know it's a fantastic book when I read while I have a meal, instead of watching a show. Thank you for the ARC!

The Housemaid’s Secret by Freida McFadden continues the story of Millie and her life as we continue to see her blossom into her new self and deal with the struggles of her past. It’s hard to find an employer that doesn’t ask too many questions about your past. Douglas Garrick seems so perfect, but what is really going on with the woman in the guest bedroom? She’s never met Mrs. Garrick.

I really love how you could read this one as a stand alone book if you weren’t able to get the Housemaid. It does a very good job of filling you in on the past. I think that’s how it stands out more from other sequels.I do recommend read The Housemaid first of course. This story is so twisty all the way to the end in true Freida fashion. It was gripping from beginning to end and I highly recommend adding it to your TBR ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
