Apologies - i downloaded this but it expired prior to getting to it. It seems unfair to provide a rating or review without reading it, but I also never want to take a book and not provide feedback (or in this case an explanation). I typically only request a book or 2 at a time so that this doesn’t happen, but this time it got away from me. Apologies - and I will look to purchase this to read it as I was very interested in it.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This is a very deep and complex read if I do say so myself. The first thing that I have to address is that I found myself having to go back and read sections because so many of the names were similar and remembering who was who was a little difficult. It did take away from my enjoyment of the book, but epic fantasy is a details writing form. It is a book one would have to commit to reading for it is a long read over 600 pages. I did want to know what happens next. Once I got past the tiny flaw is was a good read.

Fantasy needs to be unique in my eyes and this one stood out to me.

Really new and special concept, characters born with magic powers.

This story was fun as it was exciting.

Lovely world setting.

Downside a lot of names from the characters.

A lovely read for people who like romance, fantasy with a bit of steam.

I am intrigued to see more kingdoms and characters, see how it is all tied together.

A Crown Forged By Victory's Consequence has an interesting plot and strong, compelling characters. I appreciated the warning included in the blurb- the world created by the authors is indeed full of battles, murder and brutality. It took me some time to get into the story and keeping track of the characters wasn't always easy, This is epic fantasy, so complex storylines and numerous characters go with the territory, and the authors were kind enough to provide helpful lists to aid my memory. I'd like to read the second part of this duology in future.

First off, thank you netgalley for giving me a copy of this book to read and review.

I liked the way this book was written and the story was good. My biggest criticism is that this book needs a tigger warning page. There are mentions of Sexual assault and other themes. This needs to be addressed. As for the story, I found it interesting, but there were a long list of characters and I will not lie I got confused at times about who was doing what. Thankfully there is a list of the events at the end of the book that I was able to reference. That helped greatly.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I will first say that writing and then getting published is an amazing thing and I am extremely happy for the authors. That's a huge accomplishment and it deserves to be respected.

However, this book, and probably series, will not be for me. It's extremely hard to get into - either from the style of writing or the very VERY many characters - and then the plot just doesn't make sense to me. Not to mention there is a lot - A LOT - of triggers in this book that should be warned. And some storylines that shouldn't have been made.

I wish the best of luck to the authors and their future, but I would not recommend this book for anyone.

I can’t follow this book at all. Too many characters. Too poorly written just not for me. I wish the authors well but I won’t be continuing

Thank you, Netgalley, for the opportunity to review. The book was a great read and very detailed. I really enjoyed how developed the characters were. Overall, I enjoyed reading this and loved how the authors developed the story. I cannot wait to grab more from Aaryanna Abbott & Marlayna James.

I can not in good conscience recommend A Crown Forged by Victory’s Consequence.

I felt very uncomfortable with the content in this book, and thus will be recapping my thoughts in bullet points to make it easier for me to handle.

- There is an absurd notion that women need to please men to have worth.
- Women warriors are overly sexualized. A warrior would never battle nearly naked; they would need some sort of armor or protection. Sexualization prevailed over common sense.
- There was a comment made about a man being raped that was taken unseriously and shot down in a joking manner. That is NOT okay. No matter what fictitious world an author(s) may write, sexual assault is never to be taken lightly.
- There are numerous examples of terrible word substitution. The authors chose to use the terms “wet valley” “slippery cavern” and “flesh-covered hole” as a substitute for vagina. These are quite frankly extremely odd and frankly off-putting terms that did not need to be included.
- The content is too much. There should be trigger warnings. One example of how far this book takes its content would be the treatment of the former slave turned shipmate of the group. Her treatment was over-the-top and unnecessary. I can’t imagine anyone would enjoy reading that. Personally, it made me nauseated.
- Characters are seriously overly detailed. There are so many characters that even the family trees and maps do not make a dent. I found myself continuously looking back at these charts, unable to understand the text without them. Additionally, the amount of skills and deaths in the book are numerous and overcomplicated.
- The book is hard to comprehend. Poor wording leads to confusion. What character is doing what?
- There is an extremely harmful notion that sex is supposed to hurt. Rough sex is represented and the mention of sex making a woman bleed is mentioned. The worst of it all is that the word “tear” was included to describe sex. Vagina’s should not tear; sex is not supposed to hurt. This is incredibly insensitive and abusive.
- Synopsis does NOT represent the book. Practically takes place in the Stone Age. Viking vibes? Appears to be fantasy in a fiction world in modernity, this is rudimentary.

My final note is that I will not publish my review on GoodReads. I will not publicly review a book I rate one star. No matter how much I dislike it, I will not do that to any author. Especially in early review times. It is not my place to take up the majority of a book's rating.

Additionally, it is never my intent to pick up an ARC I do not intend to fawn over. There is a relationship built between reviewers and publishers that expects the majority of readers to like the ARCs they receive; hence why they were requested. I fault the synopsis of this book. From the summary given, I was led to believe this would be an incredibly different book. I am sorry that my review could not turn out more favorable.

I wanted to like this but I found that it was overall very predictable. I couldn't get into the story because the entire plot and premise sounded like something that I've read and heard before.

this was a great start to the Blackened Tablet series, it had what I was hoping for when I read the description. It had a great concept and does a great job in being a good story. The characters were so well done and did what I expected from them. I enjoyed reading this overall and loved the way Aaryanna Abbott & Marlayna James wrote this.

"While Asa prepared himself, the prince came forward. “I won’t stay, but I’ll help you hold him until the anchor has dragged. I’m uncertain if something goes amiss you alone could prevent either of you from going overboard.” She nodded. Aedyn knelt beside her and wrapped his arms around Bennet’s chest, which laid in her lap."
