I enjoyed this read about a spunky girl who has lived her whole life under her mother's thumb. After the surprise death of her, supposedly already deceased, father this young woman is about to sprout her wings.

When she arrives in rural Georgia and goes to her inherited new home, she finds it already occupied, the woman claims her son was promised this home, and your thinking, now what?

Well, as you keep reading this woman plays and important part in Lillian's new life. Although I did find this story to be predictable, there are some twists and turns that make you wonder if all will survive.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

Fun story! Loved the mystery of Lillian's father and his dealings. I loved Melanie's faith in God and her positive attitude. The story was a bit predictable but enjoyable.

The writing style was pleasing to read. The story was predictable and sappy. Not my type of book, but I'm sure others will like it.

Thank you to Revell and Net Galley for the chance to read and review this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
This story was so good! Lillian Doyle is a young lady living the high society life with her mother. One day she receives a big surprise! Her father-who she thought died long ago-has actually just died and left an unexpected inheritance to Lillian. She decides to go back to the backwoods Georgia town where her father lived and seee what he left for her. This is a life changing decision. She discovers a family, romance and a new life for herself. This is a good book with lots of adventure and love!

I really enjoyed this novel!

Set in 1912, Lillian is living with her mother when she finds out her father, whom she’s never met, has passed away and left her with an inheritance.

When she gets to the small town to claim her inheritance her plans to claim it and run change. She finds herself facing a new situation and a heap of trouble her father left in his wake.

I loved the characters in this story as well as the romantic plot.
The era was charming, as I t was a little bit of “old” mixed with a newer vibe than regency/Victorian/etc.

The dreams and aspirations of the characters were interesting, as well as the “trouble” she found waiting for her.
This story was fantastic and lovely!

Great story! Very simple but well done plot and characters. With the sisters this could easily be a series. I would read the next to see how the family grows. I very much enjoyed it and would read more by this author.

I just reviewed The Swindler's Daughter by Stephenia H. McGee. #TheSwindlersDaughter #NetGalley

This was my first book from this author and I was pleasantly surprised! I loved the mystery of finding out about Lillian's father and his company, the merging of hers and Melanie's dreams, and seeing how they all pitched in to get the house ready for the business. Betsy was also too cute and I actually laughed out loud in one particular scene featuring her (no spoilers!). I wish Alma had had a little more time on the pages as it would have been fun to see her and Lillian's friendship bloom, but overall I really enjoyed this one. Plus the enemies to more trope is always a favorite.

The beautiful cover of The Swindler's Daughter drew me in, and the interesting title intrigued me. I expected it to be good, but even so, I was stunned by just how good it was, a real page turner! 5 stars!

The Swindler's Daughter had everything I look for in an entertaining story, historical setting in a small town complete with dreams of books and bakeries, great characters that endure hardship, romance and even a mystery to solve.

I loved it all and highly recommend The Swindler's Daughter. Stephenia H. McGee has written a surefire winner. I appreciate Revell Publishing making a copy available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
