Love Meets Scandal

Sophia, the baby of the family wants a scandalous romance, and Orlando is happy to oblige. It is all fun and games until the two lose their hearts. Once that happens, will Orlando's three French hens satisfy him, or is it time for him to say goodbye to his rakish ways? This is an entertaining, steamy, Regency romance that you can read in one sitting.

This was one of my favorite ones of this series, I really liked the lead heroine and her desire to get what she needs!

With this tenth addition to The Twelve Days of Christmas series, we are nearing the end of what has been a fabulously scandalous series. This story follows Sophia Fitzroy as she paves a scandalous path towards her happily ever after with Orlando. Orlando believes Sophia to be yet a other boring miss of the ton, but he is in for a surprise when he meets her. Sophia was a great character, the no-nonsense type and not afraid to speak her mind. Sophia is unlike anyone he has has before and Orlando is immediately drawn to her. He is known for his three French hens, as he is not satisfied with just one mistress. But that all changes once he meets Sophia. Sophia knows of his reputation and that she should steer clear of him, but she too is strongly drawn to him. Despite what she should do, which is to turn and walk away, the heart wants what it wants, and her heart wants him.
This was fun and delightful story with wonderful characters, and the banter between Orlando and Sophia always made me smile. Sophia's feistiness and Orlando's wickedness was a perfect match and I enjoyed seeing them come together. Another great addition to the series!

Three French Hens by Emily EK Murdoch is part of her Twelves Days of Christmas series. We are now visiting the life of the youngest Fitzroy daughter, Sophia, who had spied the most perfect man. She came to learn that he was Lord Orlando Dunbar. He had overheard her at Almack’s declaring she wanted a scandalous romance. He was just a little too scandalous for her, as he was rumored to have not one, but three French mistresses, plus it was scandalous to hear the titterings of the widows and young ladies he had seduced. Yet she seemed to run into him at every turn. And he did kiss well, not that she had anything to compare him to, mind you. Then he appeared at her home in the middle of dinner, to speak to her father. She was angry and embarrassed.

This was a short and sweet love story. He had been a rake but he was willing to change for her, or so he said. She was hard put to believe him. It was a cute, sexy story. One worth the less than two hours it will take to read.

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

As the youngest of the London Fitzroy's, Sophia has waited for her come out, and all she wants is a scandalous romance, just like her sisters. But when she is overheard saying that, by renowned rake Orlando Dunbar, she is in for a shock. Where Orlando thought that Sophia would be another boring miss in the ton, he's in for a shock. Sophia is unlike any one he's met before, and though he's known for his three French hens, as one mistress alone is unable to satisfy him, he is drawn to Sophia like never before. Sophia knows Orlando is bad for her, but she can't help what she wants, and that's him. This was another nice and quick read, and Sophia and Orlando were a couple definitely suited to each other. I loved the scene where he walks into their family dinner and basically tells them all he wants her, and they agree. Now all of the London Fitzroy's are settled, there's only two more ladies left to find their happiness.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book and this is my freely given opinion.

Sophia, the youngest of the London Fitzroy's was always left out of the social scene because of her age, and now she is finally out, and raring for romantic adventure. She voices this to her sister in the most public of venues, Almack's, and is overheard by Orlando Dunbar, a viscount with a very rakish, salacious reputation. He is reputed to sleep his way through society and keeps three French mistresses at a time, his Three French hens.

He appears to think Sophia to be a silly debutante and mocks her publicly, but becomes intrigued when she meets him toe to toe and holds her own, rather than cow or wilt away. Intrigued enough that he starts to dog her and find ways to spend time with her. Sophia is likewise intrigued by him, and his bad boy reputation, though she has serious doubts about his harem of women, especially when she is literally forced to confront them as they seek out the supposedly irresistible Orlando.

Orlando wants to seduce Sophia, but she is understandably uncertain if he would be satisfied with one woman.

Again, as this is from the one viewpoint, hers, I see Orlando as a pretty two dimensional womanizer manslut who is proud of it, and don't build a lot of warmth towards him as he systematically stalks and seduces Sophia.

2.5 stars out of 5

Another good addition to the series. Although I enjoyed the story, this was not one of my favorites in the series. I found Sophia to be immature and, at the onset, Orlando was not overly likable. However, they both began to grow on me.
Thank you Emily EK Murdoch, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

There are three Fitzroy brothers, each with different interests, each the father of daughters, twelve in total. Arthur Fitzroy has six daughters, five of whom have married. It’s the holiday season of 1819. This story is about Sophia and Viscount Orlando Dunbar.
Sophia is the youngest of the six London Fitzroy sisters, and the only one not married. She hasn’t met a man that makes her heart flutter. When she murmurs that she wants a scandalous romance, one of the biggest rakes in the ton hears her. Viscount Orlando Dunbar annoys her, teases her, and seems to show up everywhere she goes. He makes her heart flutter, but is he husband material, or a sure path to ruin (it is said that he has three mistresses, three French hens)? This is a quick, funny, and entertaining story filled spunky banter, and fun. There is a feisty heroine and a somewhat wicked hero. Another cute addition to a happy holiday series.

In this edition of the 12 days of Christmas we have a hero, Orlando, a rake and womaniser and Sophia one of the daughters from bath. Orlando has at least 3 mistresses, hence the french hens. He meets Sophia, falls in love and is desperate to be with her and leave his previous lovers behind. Thoigh of course his love making skills are present in abundance.

Quick story.

I have been diligently reading Emily EK Murdoch's Twelve Days of Christmas series of novellas and have fallen in love with the Fitzroy family as a whole, even if I have found some of their individual stories a bit lacking. Three French Hens tells the story of Sophia, the youngest of the London Fitzroys, who makes the mistake of saying she wants a scandalous romance within earshot of the unrepentant rogue and viscount, Orlando Dunbar. Orlando seems to find Sophia immediately intriguing and sets his sights on her, though to what end it is not immediately clear. Sophia for her part also finds Orlando fascinating, but she does not want to be just another French hen, meaning just another mistress.

This story is one in which I really wanted to have Orlando's POV. Why is Sophia the one to finally turn his head? Has he really given up his dissolute ways? Considering that one of his mistresses shows up at his home while Sophia is there, it feels a bit questionable. I did love the banter between the two, especially the scene with the door slam. And I liked catching up a bit with the other London Fitzoys. I just wish I felt a bit more confident in Orlando's newfound desire to be loving and faithful. 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

Three French Hens is another entertaining tale of how one of the Fitzroy cousins is going to find love during the holiday season. This time it’s Sophia’s turn. Her 5 older sisters have all found their perfect partners and she’s feeling a little left out amongst all her smugly married sisters. And whilst she may not be out actively husband hunting, Sophia wants someone to bring a bit of passion and scandal to her mundane life. Enter Orlando Dunbar - the most scandalous viscount in London.

There are a lot of things to like about Emily EK Murdoch’s Twelve Days of Christmas novellas. They’re fun and romantic with a wonderful festive vibe about them. And it’s always interesting to see just how she’s going to insert a particular day of Christmas into the story.

And they’re very quick to read. But that’s also probably the thing I find hardest about these stories. Because the author introduces us to these fun and vibrant characters and I want to know more about them. Orlando and Sophia have the most delicious banter whenever they meet but I felt by the end of the story that I didn’t really know Orlando at all. I wanted to know more about his life before Sophia and just why a chance encounter with the last single London Fitzroy sister made him change his ways. Maybe I’m just greedy.

But that said there is a lot jammed into these stories. We got to catch up with Sophia’s sisters and got a glimpse at what after happily ever after looked like for them.

Three French Hens is a fun story and a great addition to the Twelve Days series.

Another quick easy read in this Christmas series which is building into a nice little collection. A slow burn romance, that turns quite steamy before all is said and done, full of longing and desire. A couple who challenge each other from the beginning. Bodes well for never having a dull moment when these two get to their HEA. A lighthearted novella perfect for the Christmas season.

Three French hens, in the title, refers to the three French mistresses that Oralando Duncan has. Scandalous, certainly, but the heroine is bored, and thinks that would be fun, to be seduced by one such as he, and mentions that to her sister, at a party.

Which, of course he overhears, and decides to make her his latest conquest.

Thus begins this slow burn regency romance, that evolves into a bodice ripper before all is said and done. A quick novella, full of longing and desire. If you like that sort of thing, this is one to satiate your appetite. Plus there are twelve books in the series, though you don’t have to read the other ones, or you can, but not necessarily in order.

It is not feminist. It is not progressive. But hey, if you are looking for a quickie regency romance, and don’t want to spend too much time getting to the good bits, this is a good escape.

It’s 1819 & Sophia Fitzroy is searching for a scandalous romance. Not an actual one, of course. Just something to entertain her this Season as her five sisters are now married. But when her declaration that she wishes to be seduced is accidentally overheard at a ball, her dull Season is instantly transformed. Orlando Dunbar does not take no for an answer. Infamous for seducing ladies across the ton, his three French hens or mistresses are not enough to satisfy him—not now that he’s got Sophia in his sights. She’s determined to steal his kisses but keep her heart. He’s never been rejected before, and doesn’t intend to start now.
A quick, entertaining read, I loved the banter between Orlando & Sophia, she definitely rules the roost & by rejecting him makes him want her all the more. Attraction leads to lust leads to love, I love it when a rake falls in love & another Fitzroy , the last of the London branch finds love.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This was a quick, fun read. I love a reformed rake who then becomes a wife guy. The pacing was quick, even for how short it was but it worked very well, I was always interested in what was coming next,
