HER AMISH COUNTRY VALENTINE is the first book by Patricia Johns that I have read, but wow, it won’t be the last. Jill has come back to Danke, Pennsylvania for her younger sister’s wedding. Her sister is forever trying to get Jill to date and when she starts harping on her about a date for the wedding, Jill blurts out that she has one! What? That is a total lie and now she is stressing finding “A fake boyfriend”.

After reading HER AMISH COUNTRY VALENTINE I found myself thinking about Jill and Thom long after I finished their story. I was totally invested in their lives and was cheering for them the whole time I was reading. Often, I was yelling at Jill not to make the choices she was making and sometimes I was laughing out loud at the things she was saying. HER AMISH COUNTRY VALENTINE is filled with love, forgiveness, letting go, and romance. I loved the interaction between Belinda, Jill’s aunt and her neighbor, Eli. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. Patricia John’s writing held me captive from the very first page until the last page. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Butternut Amish B & B series.

HER AMISH COUNTRY VALENTINE is about Jill learning to trust her heart and Thom and letting go of the past. Patricia John sure knows how to make the reader feel as if they are right there at the kitchen table with the family dealing with all their troubles. She made me sad, then the next moment I was smiling and giggling out loud! You can never go wrong with a Patrick Johns book if you are a fan of the Amish genre. All of her characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one heck of a roller coaster ride. As you are reading, you will find yourself cheering for all of them, praying they can work out their problems and be happy once again.

HER AMISH COUNTRY VALENTINE really pulls at your heart strings. I was instantly caught up in the characters lives and business. It was almost as if I were sitting at the table with them and we were all friends. Jill’s friends and loved ones are all pulling for her and trying to help her adjust to her maybe moving back home to Danke, Pennsylvania . It is wonderful that she has their support because she is really going to need it. Patricia Johns novel sure did leave me thinking about the choices I have made in my own life and how I can be a better person. I look forward to reading more of this heartfelt series.

I love reading Amish fiction and was disappointed in how Jill's type-A worldly personality contrasted with the more humble characteristics I enjoy in the genre. "Amish Country" may be the setting, but the lifestyle played a small role in the story. She and Thom are definitely opposites-attract, and I wasn't feeling any chemistry between them. I usually find fake-dating schemes entertaining but sadly the elements of the plot could not keep me engaged in the book. I was missing the connection and emotion that pulls me in. While other reader friends had good reviews for this book, it wasn't my cup of tea and I gave up at 40%.

Fast-paced City vs the quiet life of Country meets a fake date Valentine wedding romance. Patricia Johns is an author I’ve noted before when perusing Amish romance so I was up for giving her latest series starter a try.

Jill Wickey works in a Philly advertising firm and loves her exciting work and city life, but she cares about family and her sister has been planning her perfect Amish country wedding so Jill will do what she has to do so her sister isn’t disappointed. That said, she dreads being the pitiful single her family are determined to help find a date for the wedding. Jill’s luck turns when she claps eyes on the handyman at her Amish great-aunt’s B&B where she’s staying.

Thom Miller has gone through a nasty break up, but he’s willing to play Jill’s knight in shining wedding armor so they both avoid the pressure to have a date. They do some ‘fake dates’ in the time leading to the wedding and they are fooling only themselves if they think things aren’t real. But city vs country and bad relationships of the past are complications only the magic of Valentine’s romance and matchmaking family and others can solve.

Patricia Johns laid out a gentle, sweet, and swoony romance. This is touted as an Amish romance, but the romance pair are not Amish. Surrounding characters are and the setting is an Amish town so it fits into the genre category. This was one that had a straight up conflict, charming background, setting, and surrounding characters. Really, it only took some reflection and a meeting of the right person for things to progress nicely. It read easy and fast and was perfect for a wintry sweetheart romantic mood.

I want to stay at her aunt’s inn and relax in the setting. This was a sweet and light country charmer that I can recommend for those who want light and easy for a non-Christmas holiday fake mates romance.

This is a Clean Fake Dating Romance, and this is the first book in the Butternut Amish B&B series. I loved the setting of this book, and I felt the characters were good. I just felt it took forever for this book to get going, and it was so slow moving. I felt there were some cute moments in this book, but there were some moments I just did not think needed to be in the book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Patricia Johns) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Professional career and city woman Jill and professional carpenter country man Thom agree to form a fake relationship to get them through a difficult social event. Jill has come to Danke, Pennsylvania to attend her sister's wedding. Two years of planning makes this a big deal that has to be just right, including a date for the single sister. Thom and Jill have both had their fill of broken hearts and the meddling of others in their non-existent love lives.
Jill decides to stay with her Amish aunt during her time in Danke. Aunt Belinda owns the Butternut Bed and Breakfast. On her first day there, Jill meets Thom who is doing a renovation job for her aunt. Belinda is also a matchmaker and has a young woman, Nellie, to help find a husband who will promise to be a good person to take over her father's farm.
There's a family wedding, a matchmaker, an old bachelor in love, a fake relationship and lasting true love somewhere in all of this. I liked the characters and found them to be believable. I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy of this book. This is my own unsolicited opinion about it. It's a good start to a new series. I do want to see what is ahead for Belinda. I'm intrigued with her story.

Her Amish Country Valentine by Patricia Johns is a cute story. I thought the story was well-written with steady pacing. The characters were realistic and developed. My favorite character is Aunt Belinda (she is a hoot) who owns the Butternut Bed and Breakfast. I could understand why Jill and Thom did not want to go to the wedding as singles. I would get tired of being setup by family and friends (and no one wants the pity looks). There are some good life lessons in the story. It gets you to thinking about your life and deciding what is really important. A stubborn donkey name Eeyore had me laughing as well as Jill’s matchmaking great-aunt Belinda. How Belinda treats her neighbor is amusing. I think the matchmaker needs a little nudge. The ending left me smiling. Her Amish Country Valentine is the second book in The Butternut Amish B&B series. It can be read as a standalone (but why would you do that). I am looking forward to the next book in this engaging series. Her Amish Country Valentine is a charming tale with a stubborn donkey, a needy neighbor, an Amish aunt, a plan to prevent pity, wedding woes, love troubles, and shifting priorities.

A sweet little read that I enjoyed very much!
Johns has written a cute little matchmaking story that I couldn't put down! I finished it in one afternoon.
This book certainly has some cute scenes in it that will make you want to giggle at times.
One particular favorite is Eeyore! I love animals, and this one made my day!
Jill's aunt is another favorite character of mine. The reason is that she reminds me of Anna in the Huckleberry series.
I felt that it did start out a little slow, but it picked up eventually. I'm glad I stayed with it.
Characters were awesome, and so were the secondary ones, too.
I loved how each one got their fair share of scenes and that we got to know them.
5 stars! Well done! I highly recommend it!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Her Amish Country Valentine by Patricia Johns, book one in the Amish Butternut B & B series, where there is a family wedding, a matchmaker, an old bachelor in love, a fake relationship and lasting true love somewhere in all of this.

Jill Wicke has come to Danke, Pennsylvania to attend her sister's wedding. Two years of planning makes this a big deal that has to be just right, including the need for a date for the single sister. Jill is staying with her Amish great-aunt during her time in Danke, at the Butternut Bed and Breakfast, which aunt Belinda owns. On her arrival, Jill meets Thom Miller, a small town carpenter, who is renovating her great-aunt’s kitchen; a friend of the groom and coming off a bad breakup. Jill and Thom decide to have a fake relationship to help them get through the wedding. Except, Thom doesn’t want to pretend only at the wedding, he wants them to, date, and get to know each other. Spending time together also allowed their feelings for each other to grow, which could be a major problem; Jill was drawn to big city life and its rat race while Thom loved the slow, relaxed pace of small town living. What a dilemma. Jill and Thom are heading toward a strong, deep, forever love or stubborn broken hearts if their stubbornness is unwilling to bend.

Ms Johns wrote an endearing story of two people who have known heartache, have known what it feels like to have people constantly trying to fix your love life, who work hard at guarding their hearts, and yet deep down, all they want is a future with that someone special. Those elements, along with how they were able to open up to each other with honesty and vulnerability, helped change Jill and Thom's "fake" relationship into something more. Interesting and amusing secondary characters that complement the story without taking the focus off of the main characters; great-aunt Belinda’s matchmaking, bachelor farmer Earl living next-door, Eeyore the donkey, Nellie, and Jill’s sister. I highly recommend Falling for the Amish Bad Boy to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Her Amish Country Valentine is a nice romance. The plot was endearing with solid characters. I do have to say, it seemed like it took forever for the story to really progress.
Definitely a heartwarming, feel good story.

Her Amish Country Valentine begins The Butternut Amish B&B with a delightful romance between a couple who, on the surface, seem to have far different goals in life… but love finds a way in when it’s exactly what they each need.

Jill has returned to her great-aunt’s bed and breakfast in Amish country for her younger sister’s wedding. Although she has Amish relatives, Jill’s family tree descends from a brother who chose the English way… but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love her Aunt Belinda to pieces and returns when she can. A true workaholic aiming for a promotion and a corner office, Jill doesn’t have time for long visits or romantic encounters. She’s here for a wedding and maybe to get a few contacts for work included. She’s a city girl, and while being in the quiet Amish community is a good reprieve once in a while, she’s not planning on staying… but her life is about to change, and perhaps her mindset as well.

Thom loves country living. The slower pace, the actual knowing who your neighbors are, and the caring of the close-knit community he often finds work with suit him just fine. While he may not be Amish himself, he can appreciate the lifestyle, the commitments, and the connections he sees around him on a daily basis. He has no desire for the city, and that’s been proven to him on a heartbreaking level. He won’t lie, but he wouldn’t mind a few casual dates with Jill in order to be her plus-one at her sister’s wedding. A favor for a friend and a woman he’s quickly beginning to have feelings for, even if her life is far away in the city.

I loved Her Amish Country Valentine. While Jill and Thom seem to be opposites they connect on such a deeper level, although it might take a stubborn donkey named Eyeore, a matchmaker aunt, and a hard look at priorities before they are willing to take the risk to their hearts that will be necessary for a happy ever after ending. I also loved the secondary characters, especially Aunt Belinda; my grandmother would have called her a “hoot”. (grins) I look forward to continuing this series.

If you love a well-written, engaging, emotional romance with all the feels you could wish for then start The Butternut Amish B&B series with Her Amish Country Valentine right now.

This is a cute book with pushy parents wanting their children to get married, a wedding in Amish Country, fake dates, English workaholic, and Amish B&B all parts of this book. I felt it moved a little slowly, but you will still want to read it to see how these all fit in and what the outcome will be.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Harlequin. The opinions expressed are my own.

This is a story about a young woman in a fast paced job environment who goes to her sister's wedding being held in Amish country. She is now relaxing in a slow paced world, taken a step back, but she loves being in the rat race! She is staying at her Great Aunt's B&B, and Jill meets the handyman, one who is remodeling her Aunt's kitchen.
He is coming off a big breakup and she sure doesn't want to end up in the boonies! We are there for a journey that is either going to end up in love, or a couple of stubborn broken hearts that won't give an inch!
There are several other Amish characters here that you are going to love, and I wanted to be involved in their lives, at least know how everything turns out.
Come and meet Eyeore!

Jill is an Englisher big city career gal back in Amish country for her sister’s Valentine’s wedding (also an Englisher). She meets Thom, the Englisher carpenter that’s a friend and respected by the Amish community. They agree to fake date for her sister’s wedding so their families will stop badgering them about not having dates.

Perhaps this book is poorly titled because there was not nearly enough Amish, nor Valentines going on. Generally, this was a nice small town romance but the Amish culture felt like a setting or backdrop to the actual plot which felt…odd. I’m used to at least one love interest being in the Amish community. I think my expectations were misaligned going into the book because I had a good time but kept waiting for something else to happen and it never did. I think if it had been positioned as a small town romance vs Amish it may have been received better.

The side characters were excellent! I found myself invested in the aunt and her neighbor character a lot as well as Nellie and her beaux subplot.

I don’t typically read Amish books but I had read one or two in the past and I loved the idea of a sweet Valentine novel so I was excited to read this - unfortunately it just wasn’t for me, it was a bit on the slower side and I kept waiting for something halfway interesting to happen. If you are looking for a heartwarming story and don’t need much to keep your attention, give it a chance! I am thankful for clean stories like these, even if the book itself doesn’t end up being a favorite.

I received an advanced copy in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.

Patricia Johns is one of my favorite Amish Romance Authors and let me tell you she did not disappoint! Her Amish Country Valentine is a wonderfully written, sweet story.

I loved the big city, fast paced Jill Wickey with small town peaceful life Thom Miller. The characters came together perfectly.

This story is an easy read, wonderfully written and one that you won’t want to put down. Pick this one up on release day, you won’t be disappointed. I’m buying a paper copy for my collection!

Beautiful Story

What could a big city workaholic, Jill Wickey, and a small town carpenter, Thom Miller, possibly have in common? At first glance, it seems there is absolutely nothing. However, an upcoming wedding and past heartbreaks could just be the common factors, and those are about to change everything.

I loved this endearing story of two people who have known heartache, have known what it feels like to have people constantly trying to fix your love life, who work hard at guarding their hearts, and yet deep down, all they want is a future with that someone special. Those elements, along with how they were able to open up to each other with complete truth and vulnerability, helped transform Jill and Thom's "fake" relationship into something more. It touched my heart deeply and kept me riveted to the pages.

Patricia Johns has once again written a delightful story with wonderful characters where you can't help but be completely drawn in. She also adds some interesting and amusing secondary characters that compliment the story without taking the focus off of the main characters. This combination is what makes Her Amish Country Valentine a beautiful story that I highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own. (Release date 03/28/2023)
