This was super cute!! Loved the chemistry that the characters had. The New York setting was a lot of fun too and I really enjoyed the bridal magazine job

I'll keep this short and sweet...because the story was just that! A cute, one sitting read with plenty of chemistry and butterflies and all the angst/will they/won't they that one would expect from a friend's to lovers book. Complete with a dog wedding, loving/intentional friend group (with their own books coming soon!), and the perfect HEA, Everly and Henry's story brought out all the heartwarming warm fuzzies one would have expected to see. 😊

Thank you Netgalley and HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada) for the ARC in exchange for my review!

I love category romance and I yearn to read it with the same enthusiasm I used to. But category romance has been a desert, at least to this reader, these past few years and I’ve DNF-ed, disappointed, more often than make my desultory way through one “meh” after another. Fact is some of the best romances I’ve read have been category romances: Jessica Hart’s Promoted: to Wife and Mother, Kathleen Creigton’s One Christmas Knight, Karina Bliss’s A Prior Engagement, Molly O’Keefe’s Unexpected Family, and my beloved Betty’s Tulips for Augusta, to name a few. And let’s not forget the great HPs: classic Lynne Graham’s The Greek’s Chosen Wife; more recent, Dani Collins’s Cinderella’s Royal Seduction. For the most part, though, many of my favourite category authors have moved on from category, from romance itself (sobs). These days, my expectations, therefore, are low: at best, I hope for a passably written, pleasant read…but what I got from Teri Wilson’s Her Man of Honor is a GREAT one, hearkening back to the wonderful writing, pacing, characterization, sheer fun and yet depth of great category romance. The chef’s kiss of the perfect length to the genre. Truth be told, I wasn’t keen on Wilson’s premise: I’d surfeited with the weakness of Chin’s friends-to-lovers trope-handling and dislike any wedding-industry-set novel, Hallmark movie, etc. If tulle is involved, I won’t read it (though I’d rec Mia Sosa’s Worst Best Man). But from the first page, Wilson’s romance captured me. To set us up, the publisher’s blurbish details:

When did her longtime best friend become the perfect groom?

Everly England is a bridal-advice columnist. A guru. And unfortunately, a jilted bride! Her ruined reputation and wedding only get more disastrous when her bestie Henry Aston’s sympathetic kiss ignites a desire she never knew possible. Henry knows the glamorous city girl is terrified romance will ruin their friendship. But this stand-in groom plans to win her “I do” after all!

There is much to love about Wilson’s romance, but I’d like to start by mentioning something we don’t often think about when we read romance and that is her confident third-person narration. This may be the ultimate in English teacher geek-hood, but I can’t help it. So much romance is being written in the first-person and I find it mannered and distancing; I know, it should be the other way ’round, but I like the bird’s eye-view of everything and everyone in a novel. And, if you’re going to write first person, you better be a master because it is really really hard to pull off (see Charlotte Brontë…who pulls it off). I have to ADORE your romance narrator to stick with the narrative. Third person romance gives me the opportunity to like one character over another and, even if one gets the “I don’t like you” eye squint, I can happily live with another. But if I’m stuck in one head and I don’t like that head, I’m out. I realize this isn’t the “trend”, but I’m old and crotchety and I can carry unpopular opinions. (I do make an exception for Kate Clayborn.) Back to Wilson, though, and her assured third person narration which, because it’s coupled with genuine sympathy for her hero and heroine, is wonderful.

When Her Man of Honor opens, Everly is sitting in a heap of Marchesa tulle in what should have been her wedding night suite, eating crackers and squeezable tube cheese. It’s funny and pathetic and I liked her instantly. In walks an even more likable character, her best friend and knight in shining armor, Henry Aston. While I get the “we’re best friends-and-Henry-travels-the-world-and-isn’t-around-much”, I never quite bought why Everly agreed to marry feckless what’s-‘is-name, but a girl needs a premise. In walks lovely, loving Henry and everything gets better and better, or as Everly thinks as he eats tube-cheese and lends her a shoulder and makes her feels worthy, lovable, and desirable, “He’s your friend. Your best friend. And right now, he was proving himself to be one heck of a man of honor.” Wilson plays with that idea throughout, honor, what does it mean to be honorable? It’s not just quaint and old-fashioned and attached to histrom heroes, it means standing by someone, being there for them, and taking care of them.

Which is exactly what Henry does:

Everly didn’t want to talk. She just wanted someone to sit quietly beside her and not say a word…to just be there. Henry had always been good at that, even back in college. Eight years ago, on what was undoubtedly the worst night of her life–even worse than this one–he’d parked himself on the floor of her dorm bathroom and held her hand for hours until she finally cried herself to sleep with her head on his shoulder. It had been exactly what she needed. She looked up at him now, and his gaze softened just enough for her to know he was thinking about that night, too. It was just as raw and real to him as it was to her. Of course it was. Then he blinked, and she was no longer looking into the eyes of the boy who’d lived across the hall at Columbia. These eyes belonged to someone older. Wiser. All grown up.

Wilson has many of these dual moments so well rendered: Henry and Everly’s past and present, what they meant to each other and still mean and the lovely, in-a-moment realization of desire, something familiar and comfortable suddenly becoming exciting, new, wonderful. For Henry, this moment occurs when he sees Everly walk down the aisle (he’s a trifle embarrassed at the relief he feels when her fiancé doesn’t show, even while he’s angry and hurt on her behalf). For Everly, it’s a slower realization, but I’m happy to report not one that Wilson drags on and on. If there’s any hesitation on Everly’s part, it’s the uncertainty of her own desirability. And if there’s hesitation on Henry’s, it’s to protect Everly’s bruised heart.

There are consequences to that “wedding night” with Henry and they throw more turmoil in what is a whirlwind and difficult time for Everly. But Wilson can also pull off the friend circle: Everly has friends and a great sister and a boss who may give off a “Devil Wears Prada” vibe, but turns out to be quite decent. And then there’s Henry, “…with his kind eyes…soft manner…wild and wonderful heart”. Wilson’s romance has only one agenda among romances with many: to take two people who have loved each other for years on a journey where no hard lessons have to be learned, no one has to grovel, the dark moments are only dimmed, to a believable, heart-warming HEA (despite the tulle) and fashion a romance that brings a smile and happy sigh to the reader and shows us all the wonderful, simple truth of the genre.

I’m not sure I’ve conveyed how terrific Wilson’s romance is, but I would heartily encourage you to read it and find out for yourself. And if you can articulate its yumminess better than I can, more likely, please come back and leave a comment.

Teri Wilson’s Her Man of Honor is published by Harlequin Books and released mere days ago, on March 28th. I received an e-ARC from Harlequin Books, via Netgalley, and this fact didn’t get in the way of my gushy review. It’s as good as I say it is! (Also, I love the cover.)

This was a terrific friends-to-lovers romance complicated by a surprise pregnancy. The book opens as Everly is reeling from being jilted at the altar. This is devastating to her personally and professionally, as she is an advice columnist for the wedding magazine Veil. She's holed up in the honeymoon suite at the hotel when her best friend and man of honor, Henry, shows up to check on her. She and Henry have been best friends since college, and he knows precisely where to find her - sitting on the bathroom floor eating crackers and canned cheese. Giving her a shoulder to cry on results in an unexpected blaze of passion and an unforgettable night.

Unfortunately, Everly wants nothing more than to forget it happened. She is terrified that it will destroy their friendship, so she gets extreme in her denial the next morning. At the same time, Henry realizes that he feels far more than friendship for his bestie and wants to see where it goes. But Henry, a well-known travel writer, is on his way out of the country for six weeks, and though he feels he should stay, he has no choice. He goes no contact, giving Everly the space she needs to face what happened.

The book is a roller coaster of emotions as Henry realizes his feelings for Everly and decides to work to win her heart. Everly's fears and insecurities get in the way of accepting her feelings for Henry. I loved Henry's way of demonstrating his love for her without going too far and scaring her away. There are sweet scenes where his love shines through, funny ones where that same love gets her out of trouble, and heartbreaking ones where she pushes him away.

Everly's confusion as she deals with her changing emotions and unexpected pregnancy is realistic. I loved watching her begin to open her heart and believe in a future with Henry until a chance encounter with her ex-fiancé brings her insecurities roaring back. I wanted to shake her for allowing him to get into her head that way and pushing Henry away rather than talking to him about it.

I loved the ending and the unexpected help they received in finding their way back together. Their methods were creative and emotional and perfect for who they were.

Supporting characters are Holly Golightly, an adorable puppy whose entry into Everly's life is a hilarious episode in the book. We also have Addison and Daphne, Everly's sister and friend, working with her at Veil. They are there when she needs them for support or a kick in the pants, depending on the situation. I love their "fashion closet" code. There is a sneak peek into the next book in the series, featuring Daphne, which looks like another winner.

Henry and Everly are best friends who met in college. Everly is having her wedding, with Henry as her Man of Honor, and it's perfectly perfect. The perfect Plaza Hotel for the wedding location, perfect time of the year, perfect dress, cake, food, it's all been planned and executed with skill. Then a tiny hitch happens and poof, it fell apart. What happens afterward is adorable, fun, sexy, also tear jerking. There's so much I wish could tell but I'm not giving away spoilers. There's a cute spaniel doggie thrown in the mix, so adorable. How could I not like a character who loves Breakfast at Tiffanys?

Her Man of Honor by Teri Wilson is a book I picked up and could barely put down, it captivated me throughout and I can't wait to read the other books in the series! It is the story of Everly England, a wedding publication advice columnist that is dumped at the alter during her own dream wedding. Fortunately, her best friend and man of honor, Henry Aston, is there to help her through the terrible evening contemplating what went wrong. The thing is, Henry realizes he has much stronger feelings for Everly than just 'best friends' and decides from that day forward he will win her over. The book is fast-paced and full of fun and touching moments. This is the third or fourth book I've read by this author and I look forward to reading a lot more!

I love Teri Wilson - I’m a huge Hallmark movie fan and the fact that so many of her books have been made into Hallmark movies is so special. Reading her last release, Her Man of Honor, I was seeing the whole thing play out as if it was on-screen … her writing is just has something really “extra” and more than many other authors that I can see it like a movie (and it very well could be one, someday).

While this is a closed door book (with her writing many for Hallmark, even though this one is a Harlequin published title she isn’t going to change the way she writes!), with just kissing on the page, it does definitely go a lot further than her other books with talking about what happened, I do wish it could have delved into those scenes further… being a Harlequin published title and all.

The major tropes are being left at the altar, best friends to lovers, and accidental pregnancy… followed by workplace romance. The third act drama and angst is extremely angsty in this story! A lot of drama and heartbreak to work through. Not too many tears on the reader’s end, but definitely a lot of “feels.”

I totally enjoyed Everly and Henry’s story, right from him consoling her after the terrible non-wedding, straight through working together, finding out the big news, and admitting that they always had feelings (because in a best friends to lovers, isn’t that always how it works?). The sneak-peek at the next book in the series has me very excited to see how their story continues! (Oh, and I’m of course wanting the story of the other two characters in The Veil Crew desperately now)

I definitely recommend this one to everybody, except those anti-accidental pregnancy trope (the pregnancy trope haters)… I know there are a lot out there! Otherwise, I recommend it to everyone else!

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada)/Harlequin Special Edition, and this is my honest feedback.

Absolutely adorable quick read! Emery and Henry are the best of friends, and after an unexpected night together they are bound become something more. Of course neither is willing to admit their feelings for the other in fear of ruining their years of friendship.

I adored the little twists along the way. The story was sweet and different. Definitely caught myself laughing out loud a few times and swooning hard for Henry Aston.

I really enjoy Teri's writing and I'm really looking forward to the next book in this cute series!

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

After she's jilted at the altar, Everly and her best friend Henry finish off a bottle of champagne and end up sleeping together. While he's off on his latest travel adventure, she realizes she's pregnant. Can their friendship turn to true love?

This book is so much fun! Everly and Henry have incredible chemistry. The characters are likable and feel like real people. The plot is vibrant and engaging throughout.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Her Man of Honor by Teri Wilson is a friends-to-lovers/surprise pregnancy complicated love story between best friends, Everly and Henry. This book is part classic Audrey Hepburn, part Sex and the City girl gang, glittered with emotional wounds and conflict. Everly is devastated after being left at the altar, her best friend Henry quickly goes to her side, providing comfort and support. Besides getting a shoulder to cry on, Everly acquires something quite unexpected from her Man of Honor, which puts both of their hearts on a merry-go-round. This story is a roller coaster of emotions, with so many obstacles, fears, and insecurities getting in the way of these two charming characters finding their one true love. Packed with warmth and honesty, humor and heartache, there is so much to love about Everly and Henry and their story.

Ms. Wilson wrote a story that should definitely not be missed. She provided a tale that was sweet and sassy, fun and flirting, with love, laughter, magnetic attraction, sparks, chemistry, and difficult decisions to be made. The addition of the dog Holly Go Lightly, Everly’s sister and friend who also work at the wedding magazine, Veil, Henry’s amazing patience, and the references to Tiffany’s gave an additional depth to this story. I totally enjoyed and highly recommend Her Man of Honor to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

A charming love story that might not have been a story if these two had just communicated. But that's the saga of life sometimes, and this story was built on realistic characters who loved and cared for each other but were friends first. Throw in a bunch of other complications and you have a story that could have turned heartbreaking. But of course it didn't, and it was a fun, charming, lovely read that I enjoyed and recommend. Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to read and review.

Her Man of Honor is a Harlequin Romance done only as Harlequin can do - sweet and sexy, bittersweet and finishing with happily ever after. This particular story is best friend to lover after the bride is jilted at the altar. Everly England lives and breathes love and all of its glorious wonderfulness because she works for a prestigious wedding magazine called Veil and writes the LoveBirds column where she doles out advice to women in love. Then her life blows up on her wedding day and she ends up in the honeymoon bed with her best friend instead of her almost husband and a whole lot of love birds come home to roost. It's a fun story and classic romance at its best.

Thank you Teri Wilson, Harlequin and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a review.

After reading this delightful story, I am so excited for the next books in the series! I loved the show The Bold Type, and this book reminded me so much of that show. There was an unexpected plot twist, which I ended up loving! Teri Wilson makes her characters so loveable and relatable that I can't help but root for them the whole time. My one dislike is how Everly continually points out that everyone leaves, including her Dad. Her Dad died when she was younger. I wholeheartedly agree that was traumatic, but to say that he left? Like it was his decision? That just didn't sit right with me. I do love it when Henry realizes that and how he fully commits to Everly. Wonderful love story that I couldn't put down!

Teri Wilson does it again! I just LOVE the way she writes romance. Her Man of Honor was such a charming and sweet friends to lovers romance. If you are a fan of Breakfast at Tiffany's, When Harry Met Sally or The Devil Wears Prada, PLEASE read this book!

(There is even a *SPOILER ALERT* secret baby! I haven't read the secret baby trope before and did not think I would like it, but it was so cute and added another layer to the romance!)

Also if you are a Teri Wilson fan, you know she always has a cute dog somewhere in the story- do not worry you will meet a very cute puppy!

Her Man of Honor is a wonderfully romantic yet complicated love story, and I felt all the swoops of changing emotions. When Everly is devastated after being left at the altar, her best friend Henry is quickly by her side to provide comfort and support. Besides getting a shoulder to cry on, Everly gets something quite unexpected from her designated Man of Honor, which puts both of their hearts in a tailspin! This book is quite a roller coaster of emotions, with so many obstacles, fears, and insecurities getting in the way of these two endearing characters finding their one true love. Brimming with warmth and sincerity, humor and heartache, there is so much to love about Everly and Henry and their story!

I adored this book! This was the first Teri Wilson book I've read that wasn't published by Hallmark and I wasn't sure how I would like it but I was so happily surprised. Her Man of Honor is an expertly crafted story that goes beyond a typical Happily Ever After, by giving the characters real life, messy issues that readers can relate to. I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment in this series!

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I have been reading Teri Wilson´s books for some time, but this is the first time with one of her Harlequin novels, and I have to say that somehow I liked more than her other tittles.
"Her Man of Honor" reminded me to "Unleashing Mr. Darcy" (my favorite from Wilson), and small reminiscences of Devil Wears Prada, and other movies which I enjoy a lot. I would love that the sex scenes were not close door.
Sweet and memorable! Would be an interesting Hallmark movie.

I have adored Wilson’s Hallmark books so I was excited to try this book out. However it was a bit more closed door then I was expecting. Her Man of Honor is the first book in Teri Wislon’s new series, Love, Unveiled series.
Everly was a complicated character, however she was lovable and I enjoyed reading about her. She had been left at the altar and her whole life was falling apart. I really felt for Everly as she tried to figure out how to get her life back together. She was trying her best. It was sweet to see Henry try to help her. There were times when I was frustrated with Everly because I wished she would just talk to Henry. However, I enjoyed reading about Everly growing and starting to fall for Henry.
Henry was just the sweetest. I loved him and how he cared for Everly. He was Everly’s best friend. It was fun to read about him realizing his love for Everly and read about him trying to win her over. Henry was just trying his best to love Everly in the way that she needed it.
Henry and Everly were a sweet couple. I really liked how they were friends first. The romance was sweet and easy because they knew each other. The book was interesting and fun to read. However there were a bit more innuendos then I was expecting. I would recommend Her Man of Honor to those who have enjoyed Wilson’s other books.
