Amber is a serious vet working to become credible in her field of vet emergency medicine and doesn't like dealing with any drama but wants to desperately take care of her family. Ian is a sweet and charming traveling vet with a big deal tv show. When Ian's tv show decides to make a home of the practice, Amber works at leading to more camera time for Amber and a pushed fake relationship.
I loved the tropes covered in this book, from forced proximity to opposites attract. This book had long time pining on Ian's end, as he has wanted to be with Amber since vet school, which made their scenes all the more meaningful and tension-filled. Overall this was a great book with a fun setting and really well-defined characters, an action-filled storyline, and a emotion-filled romance.

Amber works as an emergency room vet and in the meantime is filmed for a reality show on tv. She hates being in the spotlight, especially since she blurts out things you don’t want to be broadcast on tv, and scenes are heavily edited to color people’s opinion on situations and specific vets on the show, and to suggest maximal drama. Amber prefers to show things the way they are, just show he love and care for animals, but apparently that doesn’t attract enough viewers. Marianne, the agent of famous tv vet Ian, is hired to boost ratings. Her plan is to record a fake romance between Amber and Ian. Since Amber, who is an orphan and lives with her foster brothers and sister, needs the extra cash to pay off a loan shark who tricked her foster brother into a huge gambling dept, she agrees, although she can’t stand Ian.

The overall mood in the book is annoyed, sarcastic and there is quite a bit of foul language. I did not enjoy the way they spoke to each other. Amber was angry at Ian most of the time. Her ‘defense attitude’ was tiring, she really has trust issues (okay, work on that!) and held a grudge for ages (not okay). She didn’t want to give up control over her life for a tv crew following her at work, but agreed anyway in exchange for a lot of money. But for someone who is that guarded and values her privacy that much, it is weird that she would blab about coworkers or patients the way she does. Besides all of that, I felt there was no chemistry between Ian and Amber. Amber compared kissing him with throwing up; they were too much apart for them to get together for real and make the story believable.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I wish I could give this book more than five stars. It’s really a fantastic story, with wonderful characters and an interesting plot. Amber grew up in the foster system, and now lives with a loving, close family of some of her former foster siblings. She is a strong woman, who supports that family in numerous ways including financially. She is a resident in a veterinary ER hospital. Amber’s hospital has been starring in a reality tv program. Amber is a popular figure on the show thanks to her great surgical skills and care for her patients. Amber and Ian (who grew up in a wealthy but dysfunctional family) were in vet school together. There was a mutual attraction in vet school, but Amber ended up detesting Ian after a prank went bad. Ian is now starring in an international wildlife tv show that is in the process of being cancelled. Ian’s conniving producer decides that his ratings could skyrocket if Ian goes to work for a while in Amber’s ER hospital and there's a fake romance. This story has everything from insights into veterinary work, reality tv twists, romance, and adult heat. Ian and Amber had to grow and get past multiple obstacles, including their very different backgrounds, complications raised by other people, the tv filming and their careers. This author tells their stories masterfully, using dual points of view. Highly recommended as a well-written and entertaining book!!

Note for editor only: Chapt. 14 -- "Instead, could you slit is throught" (should be "his").

I loved this book! You literally could feel the sexual tension when you're reading it.

This book has:
Enemies to lovers
Second chance romance
And Fake romance

It's all of my favorite things in one book. I really loved Ian and Amber and their passion for animals.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a super fun rom-com. I think I referred to it to a family member as an "R-rated Hallmark movie."

Amber Hardin has worked hard to put herself through vet school and is finishing up an ER fellowship in a busy animal hospital in San Diego. The ER also hosts a TV show and follows the vets for "30% camera time." When Ian Todd, a TV personality and fellow vet, waltzes into the clinic with a now planned romance between himself and Amber, she is anything but pleased. Prior school colleagues and self-professed rivals, Amber hates Ian and feels the fake romance thing will never fly. Except of course, sparks do...

There is a lot of swearing in this book, which I found refreshing. I think more Hallmark heroines would appear more realistic if they left an F bomb fly once in a while (I know, will never happen). Amber is a strong protagonist and referred to throughout as a badass, which she totally rocks. I appreciated her not kowtowing to anyone in this book and standing her ground for her patients and her family. We could use more main characters with her gumption.

Excellent light read. I would read this book a second time.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Okay, so I didn't hate this one nor was it really a favorite. I got annoyed with a lot of the drama on the show and just wanted to be past that. I did enjoy the romance between Amber and Ian. I thought they were adorable. I would say it was enjoyable, but there were a lot of parts of it that could have been cut to take out unnecessary and annoying drama.

If you like drama filled romances with some spicy scenes (definitely not as spicy as I am used to reading), this book might be the one for you.

I love this book- from the cover, to the dedication, to the grumpy sunshine trope. It is perfection. The author perfectly captures the characters and I love every part of it.

The banter was fun, but the romance was a bit lacking at times. I wished there was a bit more romantic focus between Ian and Amber. There were a lot of popular tropes throughout the book, which was great. At times, I felt like there were some missing plots in the story. But for the most part, it was a straight-forward storyline.

Overall, I liked the premises of the book. The cover was really pretty. But the story was an average but cute read for me. 3/5

I love this book! The writing is awesome with an easy-to-read flow. The characters are quirky, and their personalities draw you in. The story is fabulous! Working in the veterinary field myself, I love the familiarity of the environment. Yes, I might be a little biased with this one, but I still encourage you to experience it!

Doc Showmance is my first book by author Zoe Forward but will definitely not be my last!

Amber is a emergency vet who is looking to stay off the camera as much as possible. While busy taking care of her foster siblings, she doesn’t need the extra attention as she works to finish her residency. But all that is about to change when her nemesis, Dr. Ian Todd, joins the show. Better yet, the show is forcing a relationship on the two vets.

Ian is a wildlife vet who has a popular television show already. But, when blackmailed by a producer to star as a romantic lead opposite his school crush, he cannot pass up the opportunity. Quickly spilling his heart on the table, he’s up for any romance that Amber will throw his way.

All is fair in love and show, right?

I enjoyed reading Doc Showmance and recommend this read to anyone who loves romantic comedies and pets. While there was a lot of “vet” terms at the beginning and mixed throughout, that did not stop me from flipping the pages and reaching the ending. This book is a slow-burn, male falls first, steamy read and I am looking forward to hearing if Zoe continues this series.

I just really couldn’t get past the fact that at this job interview a potential employer asked her about her romantic and SEXUAL history and she just acted like that was normal?!?!?! And answered?!?!?!?! Without even knowing what the job was?!?!?!! Baby girl that’s 100000000% illegal lol. And also just plain weird.

I honestly feel bad giving this such a low rating because i enjoyed the first half of it but it just did not do it for me, i feel like it was all so rushed, like there were so many tropes packed into not a super long book that none of them were done super well, we didn’t really get to see much of either of the characters personalities super well and none of the side characters were really highlighted at all, the romance was fine, and if you’re looking for something cute and fast this one is good but that’s just not what I was looking for in this.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me and e arc of this for a review.

“I don’t tease. Not you Amber. There’s always been something about you that makes me barely able to control myself when I’m around you. In the past when I couldn’t touch, I lashed out in frustration.”

this was such a cute and fun read. the story got me right at the begging till the end & i absolutely love the idea behind the whole story but i wish we would’ve got more scene where they’re alone.

Thank you so much netgalley & zoe for a arc!🙏🏻

'Doc Showmance' had so many of the things that I love about romance books:
1..) Friends to Lovers
2.) Grumpy/Sunshine (She's the grump, and he's the sunshine!)
3.) He falls first!
4.) Dual POV
5.) Fake dating (For a reality tv show about veterinarians)
6.) Forced proximity (They are forced to work together at the same vet clinic for a reality show)

There was so much to love about this book. Amber and Ian were enemies in vet school but secretly, Ian has always had a huge crush on her. After a falling out in vet school, Amber doesn't want anything to do with Ian. Both Amber and Ian have their own reality shows about being vets. When Ian's show is danger of being cancelled, he joins Amber's show to help get ratings up. Amber is not happy about this development!

Once Ian sees Amber again, he has all of the feelings come back for her, but she really gives him the cold shoulder. As they spend more time together, will things change for them?

The story also covered some deeper topics, such as growing up in foster care, a found family, and gambling addiction.

Thanks to NetGalley and XPresso Book Tours for an ARC of this steamy, fun romance.

I received a copy from NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this book. The romance was fast paced and it was really fun to read about Amber and Ian. The pacing was a little to fast for me. They want from hating each other to loving each other really fast. I did like the tv show aspect of the book, it was something different I really enjoyed.

The writing was fun and easy to read. I finished the book in a little over a day, but I missed the extra spark that would have made it a 5* book for me. Maybe that was because the romance was just too quick, with little to no extra content.

After reading a lot of thrillers and a few children's books, I needed something light and funny to break up the reading feelings. Doc Showmance was one of those laugh-out-loud romantic comedies with a geeky side to it. You know the ones where the female or male are into their careers and blunt and don't fit into anyone's boxes. I loved the main female of this book and clicked with her straight away. Doc Showmance introduces us to Amber who is busy working her residency as an emergency vet. The vet clinic also happens to currently be part of a reality TV show which Amber isn't keen on but the money helps pay the bills as she is the main breadwinner for her house of misfits which includes three of her foster siblings - Bruno who is studying to be a lawyer, Marino - the trouble one who is a gambling addict and Joley - a sexy ex-stripper now studying to be a dental hygienist. The reality TV producer wants more drama and romance so what better than having Dr. Amber Hardin having a fake romance with a newcomer Dr. Ian Todd? What the TV producers and public don't realise is that these two have a history and it's a love/hate relationship as in Vet School they were in competition with each other and study buddies and Amber fell for Ian and all was good until he humiliated her in a Valentine’s Day Prank that went viral online. These two still have the chemistry and it's sizzling, can they work over their differences and work together to make great TV? Of course, what happens when the lines get blurred, and then just as everything is handy dandy, Ian finds out he is leaving sooner than later and now there are feelings involved? Find out in this fun romantic comedy "Doc Showmance" an opposites , enemies to lovers, Ms. Grump to Mr. Sunshine romance.

I absolutely loved this one! I literally stayed up a lot longer than I should have ti get through this one lol. The plot is original and keeps up a good pace throughout. The characters are well written and you do find yourself getting invested in what happens to them. There are also some really good twists and turns that keep you guessing all through the book.

✔️ Enemies to lovers
✔️ Fake dating
✔️ Forced proximity
✔️ Bossy girl
✔️ Animal lovers

This was a really good read! This book marked off a lot of check boxes for me. Amber is a vet who tell people how she feels. She is in her residency and really knows her stuff when it comes to animals. She is an on television vet and she runs into her college nemesis Ian. Ian made fun of Amber all throughout school. Ian is on another television show, but will now be working in the same clinic she is. Amber and Ian are told they must date to get the TV ratings up. The best part is, Ian has had a crush on Amber since school, but his friend messed up his chance in school. Check out this book to see what happens next!

I was really excited to get an ARC from NetGalley when I saw this book. It includes fake dating, reality television, and based around veterinarian medicine.

My main issue with this book was the back and forth between Ian and Amber. One minute they are hot and heavy, then one of them is doubting if it's real or fake. And if just repeats.

Overall I found the book interesting but I wouldn't say it was my favorite style of writing
