An amazing Christmas story!! This book gave me Hallmark vibes but I loved every minute of it. I love a good military romance book that centers around the holidays. Thank you NetGalley and Katie Eagan Schenck for allowing me to read this ARC.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Shelly and Brad. Shelly is airline stewardess and divorced mother. Brad is a retired Marine. They meet on an airplane. Brad is looking for a place to rent before starting a new job. Shelly has a one bedroom above her garage for rent. There is an instant attraction. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

I saw another review that described this book as more a slice of life rather than a page turner, and I have to whole heartedly agree. There was hardly anything happening for 75% of the book, and I kept finding myself getting bored and having to take a break. It’s definitely a Hallmark style romance, and the main characters don’t so much as kiss until the very last chapter. I think this book could be right for some people because the writing is not bad, but it just wasn’t for me.

Thanks to NetGalley for my free copy in exchange for my honest review!

Very much a “Hallmark” type book. Cute (ish) & predictable in the way that these books often are, with a nice ending. Super easy read. This book was a little too flat for me though. Schenck is a really good writer & I have a feeling over time she could put out some really good books.

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher Champagne Book Group for the advanced copy!

This is a sweet Christmas story that feels like a Hallmark movie, I recommend to anyone who wants something lighthearted for the holiday season.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.

I liked this book for many reasons. One being that it was a Christmas theme, one was that it wasn't too long and finally it was a sweet, lovely, easy to read and just an overall feel good read.

The story of Brad, his past, moving forward and finding love and happiness again. I like Brad as a character and Shelley brought her own personality to the story as well.

This was a great feel good, holiday read and I really enjoyed it. I found it flowed well and was so easy to read. Like books like this especially as I usually read historical fiction and books that are pretty full on.

This was a sweet story. It could have been any time of year too. Two strangers who meet and realize they aren't strangers after all made for a wonderful story line.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Home For Christmas is a stand-alone book by Katie Eagan Schenck. This sweet, easy-to-read, light-hearted romance reads like a Hallmark movie in a good way! Brad has just retired from the marines and is flying to an area where he hopes to establish a real home. Shelly is a flight attendant who is divorced with a teenage daughter. Shelly meets Brad on his flight home and hastily offers her rental apartment for Brad to stay in for Christmas.

Shelly is still reeling from her divorce a year ago and is trying to help her devastated teenage daughter. Shelly has shut herself off, afraid to open her heart again to rejection. Brad has only had one semi-serious relationship in his life. He is lonely and uncomfortable in his new civilian life. Brad meets Shelly and her daughter, Lily, and discovers he wants more than a passing acquaintance. Shelly falls hard for Brad but holds back because of her battered heart. Brad and Shelly must work through their insecurities, ex-husbands and estranged family members, and a brief amount of time to find their happily-ever-after.

The plot was sweetly romantic and flowed well. This was a medium-paced plot. I loved Lily, Shelly’s daughter; she added so much to the story. Both Brad and Shelly were lonely souls who deserved love and happiness. I liked that their relationship was bumpy; it gave a more realistic feel to such a whirlwind romance. I was very impressed with my first Katie Eagan Schenck novel! If you’re looking for a cute, fast, light-hearted romance, look no further! This book delivers romantic feels and Christmas fun!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Home For Christmas written by Katie Eagan Schenck was such a beautiful story. This book pulled on my heart strings in so many ways. I fell in love with the cover, then I read the description, which I fell in love with even more and knew I had to grab this book immediately. I don't know what it is about military, and Christmas books but they always somehow destroy my heart. A Home For Christmas is so much more than a sweet romance book, it's about reaching out to strangers who are alone for Christmas, especially those fresh out of the military, it's about finding love in people we least expect after so much hurt. The characters life stories hit like a knife to your heart after learning about their past and what their future is going to look like. There's nothing better than reading a book and sobbing over a bowl of bacon man n' cheese. As much as this book hurt to read, it's worth every single minute. Please do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this book, at least two boxes of tissues, a warm blanket that can absorb your tears, and just read this book from start to finish. I was instantly hooked from the very first page, and couldn't wait to find out the outcome.

THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND CHAMPAGNE BOOK GROUP FOR AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!!!

Shelly is a flight attendant, it's not her dream job, but it helps get the bills paid. Shelly is fresh out of a divorce with her ex-husband, Carl, after finding out he was having an affair and bringing his mistress to the families Christmas dinner. Shelly and her daughter Lilly haven't heard from Carl since then, but a few days before Christmas Lilly receives emails from her father, but won't tell her mom because Lilly is trying to protect Shelly's heart. Carl truly pissed me off, he really had to bring his mistress to their family dinner in front of his daughter? That's some nerve you got, buddy. Shelly is rarely home due to her job as a flight attendant, but when she's home Shelly tries to build a sturdy relationship with her thirteen year old daughter. Shelly is excited to have a break from being a flight attendant for Christmas and returning after the new year, so she can finally have some time to spend with Lilly. Lilly and Shelly were literally the cutest mom and daughter duo.

Brad Collins has just one Christmas wish this year: to find a real home. Brad has just retired from the Marines and is ready to start his journey of civilian life. Brad lost both of his parents before he joined the Marines, he misses that sense of belonging and family. Brad and Shelly met on a connecting flight to Maryland, Shelly and Brad kept bumping into each other and learned they grew up in the same town. When Shelly learns that Brad has just retired from the Marines and doesn't have a place to stay for Christmas, Shelly offers Brad the in-law apartment above her garage until he's ready to get up on his own two feet and he starts his new job after the new year, but Shelly is also doing this for the extra income. Brad is so grateful for Shelly, but he's willing to do anything he can to help Shelly out, including stepping up and helping with this year's Christmas pageant. Brad didn't really want to join the Marines, but he felt like he had to.

Ugh, my heart instantly goes out to all the people in this book. I loved all of the characters, except Carl of course. I didn't expect to sob going into this book, but it truly destroyed my heart. Katie Eagan Schenck, you owe me a few boxes of tissues, but thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for writing such a beautiful, heart touching story. The batches of cookies that Shelly and her family baked? YUM!!!!!! I can't forget about all the delicious treats, they all sounded so delicious. I never wanted to jump into a book so fast and hug all of the characters. I was instantly hooked to the story, it just kept drawing me in with every single page turned. When I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was all wrong, the twists and turns just kept coming at me. A Home For Christmas will be a book I won't forget for a while to come. In my opinion, this book deserves way more than five stars, if a book can make you smile and cry at the same time, it's golden and a keeper.

A Home for Christmas

Sweet holiday romance that provides a happily ever after for two deserving people. It is as predictable as a Hallmark movie and nice way to slip away for awhile to enjoy some holiday baking, music, decorating and time with some new friends at Christmas.

Shelly offering Carl a place to rent was spontaneous but what happened afterward had a bit to do with chemistry, the holiday season, and the timing being right for the kindling of romance. The two are a good match that will still have some issues to address, some push-pull to deal with, family nosiness to contend with, and some decisions to be made before all will come right.

If you are looking for a holiday romance that will warm your heart, this book might be just what you need. Hat off to this debut author – looking forward to her next book when it is finished.

Thank you to NetGalley and Champagne Book Group for the ARC – This is my honest review.
