This is a very observative book on the different kinds of shapes that we see on daily basis in various objects and places. An excellent exploration on the learning of shapes of mountains, water with its holding utensil and such like many examples given in this book.

There is a metaphorical ideas on the shape of wind and relations. Knowing shapes is a first access for children to their learning of the world around them. Whenever, they make scenery they have been told to draw mountains in triangular shape pointing upside, let water flow zigzag, semi-circular Sun rising from behind those peaks drawn to paint later.

In all such way, children been taught too learn the shapes and here I would say that by this book Author has done a great job.

This is a lovely, quiet book that starts with literal shapes like the sphere of the earth, the rectangle of a door, etc. before moving on to more metaphorical ideas like the shape of the wind, or friendship. It would make a soothing bedtime book to share with a loved one as it has a very sweet message about how shapes can change but love endures.

The art is lively and striking, with a handcrafted look and lots of small details. Adults may appreciate the text more than kids, but it's still a nice sentiment that could become a relaxing part of a wind-down routine.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This book was not exactly my cup of tea. However, that being said, it did have a sweet message and I do think that some people will like this book.

As a home-schooling mama, I was hoping for a book that would work in a straight-forward way on different shapes so that I could review them with my preschoolers but that simply was not this book. This title began with several shapes and their literal names but then began to discuss the shape of ideas such as "friendship" or quiet".

the real highlight of this book was its pictures, they appear to be cut out shapes, images, and textures layered on top of each other to form quite complex pictures that are beautiful!

I received a free digital copy from the author.

Shape of You by Mượn Thị Văn and illustrated by Miki Sat,o is a beautiful and thought-provoking picture book that explores the shapes found in our everyday lives. The story follows a mother as she describes the shapes around them to her young daughter, starting with literal shapes like rectangles and squares, and moving on to more abstract shapes like questions and spaces waiting to be filled.

The lyrical language used in the book is both soothing and philosophical, encouraging young readers to observe and think about the shapes that surround them. The illustrations by Miki Sato are equally stunning, featuring layered and textured images made from different papers and fabrics.

What makes Shape of You stand out is its ability to promote critical thinking, curiosity, and discussion among young readers. The book encourages readers to not only observe the shapes around them but also to interpret and analyze their meaning.

Overall, Shape of You is an excellent choice for parents, educators, and caregivers looking to introduce young children to the world of shapes and measurements while promoting critical thinking and curiosity. The book's innovative approach and heartwarming message make it a must-read for anyone looking for a soothing and thought-provoking picture book.

I would love a physical copy.

The illustrations in this title are absolutely lovely. There seem to be some collages here with ppealing people and scenes. The author’s interpretation of “shape” is very broad and moves well beyond triangles or squares to amorphous shapes like wind or certain emotions.

I liked this book but feel that the concept may slightly confuse some as the shapes leave the literal to become emotions or ideas. Nonetheless this is a title that an adult and young child could enjoy together and that could prompt some good talk.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Kids Can Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

This beautiful picture book explores the shape of things around you, telling a very simple but poetic story, while really encouraging the reader to examine the illustrations. The illustrator used a variety of mixed media elements to create this book, using texture and layering to create 3D looking images. I could definitely see myself exploring this book with my students in an art class, but also think it would be a beautiful bedtime story. I would recommend this book for children in the age 4-9 range. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!

My daughter was very intrigued by the beautiful illustrations. And I love how poetic the story is. Moreover it helps with shapes learning and that's always a + with a toddler !

This is such a cute book about the concept of shape. I know the phrase "form a question," but I never thought of it as a shape until I read through this book. I think this would be an interesting read for little ones, who will have many questions, but may understand that questions don't always have one answer from discussing this book.

The illustrations in this book are my favorite. They fit the story and tone and gives that dimension to the landscape. It is a very sweet story and loving. The shapes are fun to learn for little ones and gets them thinking about shapes as meanings for other ideas like friend, fingers, etc. My boys would probably think this is too ‘sappy’ or ‘lovey’ to want to read it more than once.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This is a story that explores a lot of the shapes around us every day, some of them geometric, some of them more figurative or metaphorical. It felt a little bit repetitive with the word shape, but considering the title and subject matter, that's to be expected.

The illustrations were what got me in this book. They were mixed-multimedia style illustrations, and there were several times that I wanted to reach out and touch the textures I was seeing (wouldn't have done me any good on my iPad screen, but this would make an excellent touch and feel type book. I'm sure it won't be that because to incorporate all the textures in mass production would be unrealistic or make the book rather pricey). They were bright and dark and colorful. I loved them.

The amount of narration was fairly minimal, so I'd probably be fine to read this book to children several times as it's a fairly quick read, but I know I'd eventually get annoyed by it. Overall I give this book 4.3 out of 5 stars.

I really enjoyed reading this story with my children age 5 and 6. They liked the illustrations and talking about the shapes. They didn't understand the more abstract concepts, but they did like the illustration of the child changing shape as she grows bigger. A sweet little book with beautiful concepts and illustrations, we read it start to finish three times. By the third time, the kids wanted to look at the pictures and talk about the shapes more than read the story. Thank you to Kids Can Press and Netgalley for the ARC.

Shapes.
For adults, they are precise, geometric, and follow a well-defined pattern.
An infinite number of straight lines pass through one point, only one through two points, and so on.

For children, shapes are one of the first concrete access points to life, to the world around them. But their view is increasingly fascinating, magical, and, let us face it, it awakens in us a certain nostalgia.
We are far from the magic that turns clouds into dragons or knights in shiny armor, we are too busy with the real life around us.
In this book, the authors allow us to become children again, and give shape to the feelings and emotions that will never leave us, despite age and the difficulties of life: the warm embrace of a mother or the smiling snout of our puppy. The book -written by Mượn Thị Văn - flows like a poem, accompanied by illustrations and creations by Miki Sato, who uses craft techniques to create drawings with very impressive three-dimensional effects.
Give yourself a gift: become a child again for a moment and let yourself be affected by the intangible tenderness of this book.

I think the author used a very new and unique way to address shapes in our every day lives. The art is beautiful, and not overwhelming. Some picture books about shape are too distracting or have too much going on besides talking about shapes, but this book was a perfect balance. While learning shapes there is a fun story. I'd recommend this book for ages 5+.

This illustrations in this book are absolutely beautiful. I love when I can see the multi-media techniques that go into a story, it adds an extra layer of warmth to the narrative. I enjoy how the shapes in the story start very literal, concrete objects to ideas and thoughts. It provides children with the opportunity to dive deep and think critically about the world around them in age-appropriate ways. The ending left me feeling so warm and happy, I will absolutely be reading this story to my class.

And the shape of my love will always be you.

A poetic love story to your children. The illustrations are lovely and captivating. It is a great affirmation book to read. That they matter and that with all the changes, some things remain.

A delicate little book, with lots of creative ideas in terms of both copy and visuals.
I'm not sure what age group is the target audience but my 4.5-year-old definitely does not understand abstract concepts like "the shape of order is numbers" or "the shape of learning is a question". No matter how beautiful the language of the book. Which is indeed poetic, as well as thought-provoking. As an adult, I did like it.

Thank you Netgalley for an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute book. It starts off talking about true shapes like spheres, triangles, squares, ect. and then goes into figurative shapes like the shape of learning or the shape of water. The story had a poetic feel to it and was a nice way to open a child's mind to more figurative language. The artwork was eye-catching and the story was relaxing and sweet. I read this with my three year old and he enjoyed a nice snuggle in while we read through it.
